kny ask! giving you a pass for a little hating. are there any popular/common tropes in rentan content specifically that you really don't like and why?

Haha no hate here anon! I think it's okay for all of us to have preferences! That is valid and awesome. You should never feel forced to enjoy something you just don't like. I am super picky about a lot of things, and if I don't like something I simply don't read it.

That said, it's such a small ship/community I don't want to seem like I'm pointing at anyone esp as someone who doesn't read a lot of fic because I have very specific preferences. So I think I'll focus a bit on what I like if that's okay!

I love how passionate and fiery Tanjiro is. He's a country boi, but he's not naive. He's very perceptive and personable even when he's being very silly. He's competent and a quick thinker, too! I really enjoy when these qualities are reflected. If he's not characterized in this way (again just my opinion), it's really hard for me to connect to any kind of work.

I also really like switching up the status quo. Buff bottoms anybody?? There is a criminal lack of bottom Rengoku. I wouldn't even call Tanjiro a tiny top - he's just a bit short, but very muscular! You guys see that six pack he had in s1??

Ok wait - that makes me realize I have one thing I can point out that is so widely spread in so much fanart that we have to talk about it.

Sex god Rengoku.

Nu uh, nope, he's a virgin, and that's canon. He's inexperienced like Tanjiro and it adds so much flavor to the relationship that way!

(I'm mostly kidding ofc, if you want to write him as a walking sex god who's gone to pound town countless times, sure. I just may have a different interpretation on that front lol)

I'll add that I do get squicked by Tanjiro being portrayed as really young in a way canon doesn't reflect.

Tbh I was surprised by Tanjiro's 'canon' age - I assumed he was probably 18 or so based on the two year gap at the start. The age gap discourse stuff makes me laugh because Rengoku is so young himself, and they're both soldiers of similar circumstances. That's not to say that there isn't a different in rank and attitude, ofc. And there is an argument to be had about everyone's interpretations being a little different, but that's just how I feel about it!

My favorite rentan trope? I don't know how far you've explored kimetsu but aaaah this is so hard to choose because I love all of them including the weird ones like maeda Kyoujurou that's been popping up around my tl. I will not spoil dw

I do have a soft spot for canon divergent stories. I wanted to upload more AU but I can't stop thinking abt canon what ifs like post-canon domestic bliss, role reversal, BDA made me do it, and reincarnation!

as for AU I guess I really like recycling the same thing, that's why I made the little blazing heart series. I've thought abt making spin offs of oftc that can be read separately so yeah, the fwb to lovers AU

Lately I am also really into KonPon (the kitsune/tanuki one) and werewolf/jiang shi

I also love kimegaku but I had to admit it's often an afterthought. I still read it and love it ofc. It actually helps build the foundation to almost all my modern AU so that's what I mean. It's always there but I just pick and choose what I want whenever I thought abt a modern AU. I did make something with a similar set, it was a rentan hikomomo twin au and I haven't finished any of the wip. I did tease it a little on twitter ORZ
