my feelings about haruki murakami are hmmm. not exactly positive but not totally negative either, but man, i feel it’s his fault that i take quite a pleasure in adding those rather physical, kindasorta gross details to my writing

#of couse i'm not at the level of writers who Specialize in gross. however! kafka mentioning that he washed his asshole and balls changed me #as a writer. it stayed in my head. thanks kafka's asshole and balls #in particular i think the corpsefuckening series is where i'm finally like... conscious of it/doing it consciously #because on one hand the narration -- both lxc and jgy's -- are quite emotional and hazy at times with LOTS of similes #(whoops whoops i'll have to tone it down now; i already gave lxc this sorta bruised prose but jgy in my head has a bit more... down-to-earth #thoughts. still i do love me a good simile! that has to be said)#but i don't necessarily want to like... sail away into the starry sky with those. keep closer to the ground if possible. xianxia/wuxia jumps #yes but in general nothing too complicated so as to make the reader go 'okay the despair is thick and sticky like some random substance #but where ARE we and what are we DOING'#and i feel 'gaze into the face of your half-dead beloved' is nicely/grossly balanced with 'while feeling his come leaking outta your ass'#I DON'T KNOW. MIGHT BE WRONG #writing woes #shrimp thoughts
