31 Ocober 2018 (Masters Student Recording Session)

The recording session was a lot of fun and it was interesting to see how a recording studio works. We stated by sound checking all the instruments and then when all the levels were alright and the guys recording us were happy with it all we played through ‘Mardy Bum’ once just to check everything one last time before recording us. We played three takes as I wasn’t happy with the first two because i made a couple mistakes, such as missing cymbals and a couple dodgy fills. This recording was the guide track, to help record the other instruments properly after, however the last take as a group was the take that was used for the drums and bass. Before the recording session we were struggling with the middle 8 of ‘Mardy Bum’ but somehow during the session it just clicked, I thought of the middle 8 as two halfs, for the first four bars I just hit the crash on the first beat of each bar then for the last four I moved over to the floor tom gradually increasing the volume up to the guitar solo, I was very pleased with it as it was a simple but effective way to go into the solo.
