Gorgeous art of Arueshalae and Hilde by @darkergrey ! I adore both their designs and the emotion in the scene is sooo good! I also wrote a short little thing for the scene this inspired.
“Wait, Hilde. Before your decision becomes final… Look me in the eye. Please.” Arueshalae worked up the courage to stand, it felt like pushing a mountain off her back.
Nocticula hissed out, “Arueshalae, shut your whorish mouth…” Her claws came out, and the succubus brought all of her willpower to bear against the order for her to kneel.
Suddenly, light chased away the oppressive demand of the Abyss as Iomedae spoke. “Allow her to speak. Or do the words of one succubus frighten you so, Lady in Shadow?” The faintest hint of a smirk tugged at the goddess’s lips as Nocticula clicked her tongue and fell silent.
Arueshalae felt Nocticula’s threatening gaze on her, and Iomedae’s judgmental stare. She didn’t belong with either of them. But neither did Hilde. She finally realized. She and Hilde were the same. She had been where Hilde was going, they were both halfway on the precipice between the Abyss and Elysium. Only she was rising, slowly but surely, and Hilde was descending. No matter what the skald said, no matter what she believed, if she kept going she would become as horrible as Arueshalae used to be.
Hilde slowly turned to look at Arueshalae. Her eyes were sorrowful, her voice soft and timid. The succubus spoke, forcing each word out. “You’ve done so much for me, Hilde. You’ve helped me find my dreams and make peace with my nightmares… Desna showed me the path away from evil, but you are the one who showed me the path towards good. And after all you’ve done for me, I… I just can’t accept that you’re going to become a monster of the Abyss!”
“Arueshalae, I… I’m not. I’m using this for good. Why can’t you… Why can’t anyone see that? I’m fixing the Worldwound! I’m doing more than any holy-blooded crusader has in a century!” Anger and indignation crept into her voice, falling away as she saw the crestfallen look on Arueshalae’s face.
“You said that before these powers, your rage was like a graceful trance. Every battle was a delicate hymn woven with sword and magic, a terrifying yet beautiful prayer to Gorum. Can you truly say it’s the same now? I see how you are when the demon comes out. There’s no joy, no elegance, no awe, only rage and hate. Every time you indulge it, it grows stronger. And you manage to turn it towards good ends, because you’re so wonderful and so strong like that, but how long can that last? You yourself asked me to tell you if you started to lose yourself. Hilde, I am telling you that you are losing yourself.”
Her hand took Hilde’s gently, squeezing with delicate burning fingers. The demon snarled at the upstart succubus, did she truly believe her own delusions of good? Hilde forced it down, biting back any venom that might be directed at Arueshalae. But she still couldn’t… “I can’t just… Give it up. Maybe I am becoming a monster, but I’m too far-“
“No, you’re not. You can always turn back. You can always choose to be better. You showed me that. Back… Back then, you said that you loved me…” Her voice dimmed, terrified to let out the words before she gathered her courage and nearly shouted. “I need you to know that I love you too! Let everyone know, gods, mortals, and demons, I love you, Hilde! And it’s breaking my heart to see this happen to you. Please, free yourself of the Abyss, I’m begging you! I’ll help, I’ll be there for you! Like you helped me…”
The words hit Hilde like a thunderbolt, nearly staggering her back. Arueshalae… Loved her? Tears welled in the skald’s eyes, flowing down her bloodstained cheeks. She glanced down at her hand, clutched in Arueshalae’s. Arueshalae was right. She hadn’t even realized how far she’d gone. And she was hurting her friends, her crusade, and the woman she loved. If she kept going, there would be no turning back. She was trying so hard to help Arueshalae be better, she had forgotten to do the same herself. What a fool she was…
Hilde began to laugh softly, then broke into crying. Her voice was shaky as she calmed herself and spoke, squeezing Arueshalae’s hand back, “You… You’re right, Arueshalae. You’re right. I’m sorry. For everything. You deserved an azata or an angel. Not a demon…” She slowly let go of Arueshalae’s hand and turned back to Iomedae and Nocticula. “I’m sorry, I…” She let out a brief sob and wiped her eyes. “Iomedae… I’ll accept your help. Tell me how to strip myself of these powers and cleanse myself of the Abyss’s influence.”

💎💎💎 for Hilde from Mino! I’m eager to see her thoughts :3
Minovae grins widely, a sense of almost fiery pride in her eyes.
"Hilde! Now that's a woman after my own heart!", she happily asserts.
"And I'm not just talking about her physical strength, but her emotional strength. Her will. Do you know how hard it is to have strength and power and give it up? She chose her own path, even after going through darkness and horrors beyond most people's comprehension, and she did it for love. Arueshalae is blessed to have her by her side, forevermore. They both make each other better. Together."
Minovae nods, an approving smirk on her face. "I see a lot of similarities between us. She's got a strength of character I don't think most could ever come close to, and fights as fiercely as she loves. She's fun to be around during the good times, and I'm honored to call her an ally--hopefully a friend!"
She sighs.
"Still, I know she doesn't think highly of Hellknights and the law. Like most, I wish she did at least care for the law and what holds our society together with at least a veneer of peace and civility. You can't just do things because you want to, or ignore the laws you don't care about. I know it comes from a good place... but... "
Her tail just rattle then, softly. She rolls her eyes, a bit cheeky. "That being said, the anger issues... well I can't fault a skald or barbarian or bloodrager for being a bit on the impulsive side, susceptible to their emotions. Hilde works hard though, and when the rage clears there's a clarity and good-conscience there. She just needs to make sure she fixes whatever she broke when lost in the haze. Arue helps with that, surely, but... well a bit more sense of responsibility would be nice."

Owlcatober Day 1: Protection
Hilde and Arueshalae.
Hilde roared as her axe carved effortlessly through demon flesh, covering her in blood and viscera. One foolish babau charged her with a screech, she easily grabbed his face and slammed him into the ground, shattering the beast’s skull with a gurgle of a scream. Her rage filled her as she charged through the demon ranks. Her allies fell behind, bogged down by swarms of demons, but she barely noticed. She saw their commander, a hulking vavakia, and she wanted the kill. The beast threw its spear, she easily weaved underneath it and kept running until a shriek of pain split the air, piercing the haze of violence that clouded her mind to snap her attention over.
Arueshalae worried for Hilde. She had spoken of her rage before her demonic transformation and it sounded almost beautiful. More a trance than a rage, a blend of euphoria, tranquility and fury that left her moving as an elegant blur but unfocused and immersed in her dance. Now it was only fury and hatred, and it was bad for her. Beyond worrying for the skald’s soul, she feared for her safety. In her rage she always charged forward, beyond the protective shields and arrows and magic her companions could offer. Though this time, she had to focus more on her own safety. She snarled and loosed an arrow into the chest of an incubus closing on Ember before whipping out another to stab into the eye of a babau that charged her.
Then searing pain shot through her and she screamed. The membrane of her wing tore as a massive spear shredded through her side and she collapsed, her vision going blurry. She cursed herself for being careless and not keeping an eye on their commander. She winced as an incubus raised a sword and charged her. She couldn’t move, couldn’t act. She closed her eyes and waited for the end. At least she would die fighting the Abyss.
“Don’t you DARE TOUCH HER!” One of her eyes opened to the sight of an axe splitting the incubus in half in a shower of ichor. Demonic smoke, the residue of her teleportation, flitted off the skald as she appeared in front of Arue. Hilde’s peach eyes had clouded over with red as she let out a roar that cracked the ground. Demons closed in around them and she turned into a whirlwind of fury, cleaving through any demon that dared get close to Arueshalae. There was an elegance to her brutality as she nimbly danced around Arueshalae’s body to guard her from every angle. She let out a sigh of relief and pain at her postponed death, trying to reach for her bow to continue the fight before her strength gave out and she lapsed into unconsciousness.
Arueshalae’s eyes fluttered open with a groan. She saw the body of the vavakia, torn to pieces and scattered across the battlefield. One of Hilde’s handaxes was still buried in his skull. She felt her wounded wing gently lifted and gasped out, her gaze flitting to her side. Hilde was there, gently wrapping the delicate membrane with bandages. She felt a little better, though her entire left side still ached with pain.
Hilde gasped softly as she saw Arue come to, hugging her tight before a pained whimper caused her to pull back and clear her throat. “Thank Desna you’re alright…”
Arueshalae managed a weary smile. “Thanks to you. T-thank you for saving me. And taking care of my wing. B-but I heal quickly. I’ll be fine.” Being so close to Hilde, so vulnerable and injured around her, it made her nervous. Her demonic nature was ever-present, both eager to take advantage of Hilde and terrified at her vulnerability and weakness being abused.
“It’s my fault you got hurt… I’m so sorry. I s-should have paid better attention, I should have protected you…” She glanced down, whispering a healing spell and pressing it to Arue’s injured wing.
Arueshalae trembled as she felt the torn membrane slowly knit back together. “I was careless. You don’t need to worry about protecting me, I’m just… I’m just me. I should be looking after you, not the other way around.”
“Arueshalae.”
“Y-yes?”
“You’re being very rude to my good friend Arueshalae by implying her safety is worth less than mine. I’d like you to stop.” There was a faint teasing lilt in the aasimar’s voice, but it also carried a seriousness to it.
Arueshalae couldn’t help but crack the faintest smile. “It’s true, though.”
“There you go doing it again.” Hilde sighed softly and took the succubus’s hand. “We should all be looking out after each other. And I haven’t been doing that well. So, I’m sorry, and I’ll do better in the future.”
Arueshalae smiled, squeezing Hilde’s hand before she pulled back. Somehow, she was already feeling more healed. “Alright. T-thank you.”

For Hilde:
25. What are their thoughts on marriage?
36. Do they actively seek romance, or do they wait for it to fall into their lap?
25. Hilde has never really given much thought to marriage. She doesn't see the need for a public ceremony to announce love. She's not necessarily opposed to it in her own relationships, but she'll never be the one to propose it. As far as she's concerned, she's already married once she and her partner have said 'I love you'.
36. If she's not in a relationship, romance is close to the bottom of her priorities list. She doesn't seek it out, and just waits until she falls in love with someone before proposing anything romantic.

Owlcatober Day 24: War
Hilde can have a little ptsd, as a treat! Warning, this one gets a bit heavier.
The screams were always what hurt the most. Scream of combat pushing back against her furious roars, drowning out the order and everything else. Hilde could handle animals slaughtered by the hunt, so why did the sight of fallen soldiers, bloodsoaked, shields splintered and swords shattered, upset her so?
So many dead, so many that would never see their families or friends again. That could have been her. Worse, that could have been her friends. She stopped and looked down at one of the fallen soldiers. That young overeager boy that was killed by gargoyles, the sweet wizard girl that gave Hilde flowers and fell before a babau, and so many more. The dead were endless.
She wandered through the fields of blood in a daze, the roars of terror and madness never giving way, until she saw herself. Broken and corrupted, embracing the demon, the bloodlust and fury that fueled her. Hilde stared at herself. She snarled and drew her axe. She charged. She braced herself. As the demon’s axe met her flesh, she bolted awake in a panic.
Hilde clutched her chest, tears streaming down her face as her heart raced. Arueshalae’s eyes were already open, concern shining in them. “Hilde? Are you alright?” She didn’t answer. She couldn’t answer. All she could do was bury her face in Arueshalae’s chest, sobbing into her. Arue understood, of course, wrapping her in a gentle hug of arms and wings and tail and holding her to her chest.
Why was she cursed with these dreams? The war had been over for months, so why was she so wracked with nightmares every few nights? Arueshalae’s delicate fingers running through her hair slowly calmed her, the sobbing fading into choked, heavy cries. “I-I’m sorry…”
“You have nothing to apologize for. I’m here for you, just like you’re there for me when I have nightmares. Do you want to talk about it?”
“No…” She lied. A few more soft sobs fell against Arue’s chest, slowly fading until she could speak. “I just… I should be stronger than this. I’m a warrior. I’ve sung about battle for as long as I could sing. What kind of warrior is so disturbed by death?”
Arueshalae winced. She thought a moment and sighed, cradling Hilde close to her. “From what you’ve said, your father forced you to try to be a warrior. Then the demon did the same. But you’re not, at heart. You’re such a good person. You’re kind, gentle, thoughtful. You’re strong, so wonderfully strong, but you’re not just a warrior. You don’t revel in death and pain and blood like so many… Like I used to. And that’s a good thing. Please, don’t be ashamed of this.”
“A while ago, Sosiel said I was wrong to write and sing about the glory of war. I’m starting to think he was right. I never want to see another battlefield again.” Her sobs had stopped at least, though she still nestled in the warm valleys of her love’s chest.
“And hopefully we’ll never have to again… We won the war, we’ve earned our peace.”
Hilde sighed softly. “And then I feel guilty for feeling like this because so many have had it so much worse… Many of them because of me. Y-you… You’ve had it so much worse-“ She cut off as Arueshalae pressed a finger to her lips.
“Please, love. Don’t… Don’t. I… I have my nightmares, but that doesn’t mean you’re less hurt than me. You’re so brave, you…” A few tears were streaming from her eyes now. “You shouldn’t have been put through this. No mortal should have been… And no one’s death is your fault. It’s the demons’ fault. You saved so many people. You saved these lands, you did what no one else could. Please, don’t punish yourself because others had to give their lives to help you close the Worldwound.”
Hilde managed a dry, choked chuckle. “It’s… It's hard. I try not to think about it, but I do. I… I don’t know what I’d do if you and Aivu weren’t here for me. Thank you, Arueshalae. When you talk about it, it all gets a bit more bearable…”
Arueshalae’s eyes were briefly drawn to one of the scars along Hilde’s well-muscled body. Their scars, inside and out, would take a long time to heal. Perhaps some never would. But they had each other to give comfort. She rocked back and forth gently as she cradled her beloved azata. “I… I-I’m so honored to hear that… I know it hurts, we’re both hurt… But we’ll be here for each other, I know it. Every time you cry, I will hold you.”
Hilde glanced up with a brief smile. “Thank you.” Her eyes shut, her breath steadying as she drifted back off into sleep, into more peaceful dreams.

Owlcatober Day 2: Favorite Food
Featuring Hilde, Nenio, Seelah, the Hand, and mentioned Arueshalae. Sorry this is so late, but it’s like three times the length of day 1. I love my fluff..,
“Ugh, no oven is going to be a problem… But I have all the ingredients…” Hilde paced back and forth along the worn stone of the Nexus. She stopped and paused as she heard someone coming around the rocks. She quickly hid her bag full of food behind her in case it was Arueshalae. Instead she saw a snout poke out from behind the rocks, followed by the rest of Nenio. “Oh, hi Nenio.”
The kitsune grinned widely, walking around as though she owned the outcropping. Seelah was right behind her, unsuccessfully trying to rein her in. “Sorry. You know how she is!”
Hilde chuckled softly. “Oh, it’s no trouble. I’m only avoiding Arueshalae.”
Nenio perked up, her eyes flitting to the bag before going back to Hilde. She marched up to the skald, taking her cheeks in her claws and leaning in to inspect her face. “That is highly uncharacteristic. Have you been impersonated and replaced again, assistant? I’ve never heard you say you were avoiding the succubus girl. In fact, by my observations, you spend over twice as much time with her as you do the rest of the party combined! It’s unusual for you to spend any time apart from her.”
Hilde’s cheeks flushed deeply. Seelah giggled. She had noticed it as well, though she wasn’t going to say anything. Arueshalae and Hilde were locked in a dangerous dance and it seemed to help that they didn’t even realize how smitten they were with each other. The skald stammered slightly as she glanced aside. “I don’t spend -that- much time with her… Look, I… I want to make some skullberry pie for her. She mentioned it’s her favorite food, and she’s been kind of down since we got here, especially since we went to her ex’s mansion, so I’m trying to cheer her up! As friends do.” The last bit was pointedly directed at Seelah, the skald ignoring her slight smirk.
“Well, if we wanna bake a pie we’re gonna need an oven!” She winked cheekily, looping an arm around Hilde and Nenio’s shoulder. “And we don’t have one here.”
Hilde sighed, turning her gaze out to the city. She hated Alushinyrra, but… For Arueshalae, it was worth it. “Mm. To Alushinyrra, then. You two don’t have to come if you don’t want to.” She started to walk towards the portal to the city.
Nenio shook her head, skipping up next to Hilde. “Oh no, I insist! I cannot allow my assistant to conduct this experiment alone!”
Seelah grinned. “You just want some pie for yourself, don’t you?”
“… Perhaps.”
“I’m going to have to make a few, then… Ah, we have enough ingredients.” Hilde waved to the Hand of the Inheritor as they neared the gateway. “Hey, Hand. Heading out.”
The angel looked up from his meditations. “Greetings, Champion Hilde! Where are you going, if I may ask?”
“Baking a pie. We don’t have an oven here.”
The Angel seemed confused, but picked up his sword and began to cast the spell he used to hide himself from the abyssal denizens. “Very well.”
“Oh, you… You don't have to come with us. It’s not a mission.”
“I am your guardian in this accursed place. I would be remiss in my duties if I did not accompany you even on your menial tasks. The Abyss is treacherous, and you are always in danger within the city.”
Hilde was relatively unconvinced, but shrugged and turned the rune in the portal, opening the gateway. “Alright.” She sighed and stepped through into the Upper City. She winced as her vision refocused and the bout of disorientation from portal travel faded. Her stomach churned, not from nausea. The demon inside her barked and thrashed against its chains, eager to break free. The raucous din of the city, the cruelty in the air, the unseen eyes watching her from the shadows, it was all so suffocating. Overwhelming.
Seelah’s hand on her shoulder finally snapped her out of her trance, her and the Hand’s comforting light cutting through the darkness. She buried the demon down. She was here to do a kindness for a friend, not to soak the city in blood. “I’m fine. T-thank you. Alright. Alright! So, oven… Where to look…”
Seelah glanced around, frowning at the myriad of demons walking around. “We could go to a tavern or something and ask to use theirs?”
“Based on my admittedly limited understanding of demonic cuisine, I do not think we’ll find sanitary conditions suitable for baking a cake in any tavern.” Nenio piped up, her fluffy tail drooping slightly.
Hilde sighed and thought for a moment. “Right. I don’t fancy baking alongside whatever the Abyss they put in their food… I… I think I have an idea.” She tensed up at the thought as she led Seelah and Nenio through the Upper City.
She let out a reluctant groan as she came to a familiar elevator, beckoning the other two into it as it slid down. Seelah gasped as she realized where they were. “Hey, hold on, is this where that crazy-“
“Yup.” Hilde shook out her hair and braced herself as she walked into Vellexia’s audience chamber, stepping forward and bowing. The succubus grinned and darted forward, taking Hilde’s chin in her claws. “Lady Vellexia. I’d like to ask a favor of you.”
“Oh, Hilde, ~darling~! You should have told me you were coming!” Her tail looped around Hilde’s waist and roughly yanked her forward, Seelah and Nenio following close behind. “I would have set out a nice little banquet… Now, what brings you to my little corner of Alushinyrra?”
Hilde didn’t bother struggling against the tail. Vellexia was perhaps the only person in the Abyss she had anything close to an amicable relationship with, especially after they had spent a night together. Still, the succubus was insane and unpredictable. She took a deep breath. “I’d… I’d like to borrow your kitchen to bake some treats for some friends.” She was vague and nonspecific to avoid any chance of Vellexia getting jealous. It didn’t work.
“Some friends? Wouldn’t happen to include sweet Arueshalae, would it? Oh, no need to pretend! I know how you look at her… And before you protest or worry, you two are fooling no one, and I’m not jealous.” She smirked deviously. “Why, I’d be happy to let you borrow my kitchen! It’s clean, of course, I assume that’s why you didn’t go somewhere more… Free.” Her eyes twinkled. “Make me some, and you can use my kitchen as you wish!”
Hilde’s eyes narrowed. “I’m not making a pie with humanoids in it.”
Nenio leaned over, her ears flicking curiously. “Technically, aasimar, tieflings, and other planetouched are not categorized as humanoids!”
Both stared at the kitsune for a moment before turning back to each other. Hilde crossed her arms. “No aasimar or tieflings or anything sentient, either.”
Vellexia giggled. “Ah, bothersome fox. Thought I had you… Well, go on!”
She led Hilde to a luxurious kitchen, far more spotless than anything she expected of the Abyss and closer to a kitchen from Mendevian high society. Seelah grinned and clapped her hands. “Alright! Where’s the dough?”
Hilde reached into her bag of holding, fumbling around a little before pulling out several large bags of flour and an ancient bread starter. “Dough? I’m making this from scratch. It’s going to take a while, you two don’t have to stay.”
“Come on! What’s that old saying? A job shared is a job halved? It’ll go quicker together! Three times quicker!”
“Considering the speed it takes dough to leaven and a pie to bake, combining our efforts will reduce the time taken by far less than… Ah, I’m being unhelpful. I’ll save my math for the baking, let’s get to work! Let’s see, one pie for the succubus, another for the other succubus, one for me…” She looked up at Seelah’s stern glance. “Ahem, one for me and the paladin girl. Presumably one per two people, actually, that comes out to a simple seven unless you wish to make the succubus girl her own, in which case eight. Unless the Hand of the Inheritor wants one?”
The Hand’s spirit bristled in what almost seemed to be embarrassment. Slowly he spoke, bashful and quite unlike his usual imperiousness. “I… Have never eaten mortal food. I should like to try, if that is alright.”
Hilde grinned. “We’ll make it an even nine, then. We have enough ingredients.” With that, they set to work. Hilde mixed the dough while Seelah kneaded it, though it was the paladin’s first time and she needed some coaching on technique from Nenio. Nenio took care of arraying the fruit, focusing on a skullberry-dominated palette for Arueshalae’s pie and a varied selection of fruits for the rest. Apple, mixed berry, lime, cherries, and some more adventurous fruits from the Feywild or Tian Xia.
The Hand watched in fascination at the camaraderie these mortals shared over such a simple act, the humble skill involved in making the pies, and breathed a silent sigh of relief as he watched Hilde. She seemed so lighthearted, shedding the demonic rage he usually saw lingering under the surface. He was confident that -this- was her, not the corruption that tested her will.
It was soon time to set the pies to bake, Seelah opening one oven to an unusually intelligent creak. She briefly recalled Vellexia’s habit of transforming people and demons into objects, but brushed it aside. The ovens didn’t seem to mind! She set them all in and Nenio set an hourglass to time.
Hilde’s happy demeanor fell slightly as she found herself leaning against the wall. Seelah sighed and trudged over, leaning next to her. “Hey, sister. What’s wrong?”
Hilde winced. “I should have invited Arueshalae.” Seelah did everything she could to suppress a giggle. Of course the skald missed her.
Nenio was watching the hourglass intently as though that would speed up the baking. She spoke up without taking her eyes off it. “I thought the point of this was to surprise the succubus girl.”
Hilde’s cheeks flushed. “I-it was! But… I don’t know. I’d rather spend two hours together with her, and you two, than see the look on her face when I-we surprise her.”
Seelah grinned. “Oh, but won’t that look be worth it?”
Hilde let out a soft chuckle. “Yeah… It will. And she needs cheering up. It’s rough for her being down here in the Abyss.” She glanced down, letting the last bit go unsaid. It was difficult for both of them.
Before long, the pies were finished. Nenio transformed back into a human to avoid getting sticky filling in her fur, they paid off Vellexia with her pie, and the Hand got to try his first bit of mortal food (none of them had any idea how he ate it with his helmet on). And the radiant smile on Arueshalae’s face was more than worth every minute spent apart. That look had Hilde walking on clouds for days after.

Wip Wednesday!
Based off some Nenio banter, I just had to write this.
Once the chatter had quieted down around the table, Nenio looked over at them, lost in thought for a moment as she chewed a fruit tart. She didn’t bother to wipe off the crumbs and custard sticking to her fur as she pushed the plate away and pulled out one of many notebooks. “Incidentally, succubus-girl-who-isn’t-a-succubus-anymore… Arueshalae, right? If you have a few moments, would you mind answering a few of my questions regarding your ascension?”
Arueshalae looked up from her own plate. A smile crept to her lips as she nodded. To hear her ascension reaffirmed always brought her joy. “Oh, um, of course! Ask anything you want!”
The kitsune nodded and jotted something down in her notebook. “What do you think is the likelihood of your demonic origin affecting any offspring you have with Hilde? Given that you’ve severed your link with the Abyss and embraced Elysium, and that Hilde is an aasimar, will your descendants be aasimars or tieflings?”
Hilde nearly spit out her drink. Arueshalae took a few moments to process the words before muttering ‘c-children?’ under her breath and covering her scarlet blush with her wings. Hilde quickly slid in. “Nenio, we’re both women. We can’t have children even if we wanted to.”
Nenio shook her head. “That’s not true! If Arueshalae still possesses the ability, she could shapeshift the appropriate parts! There are also several potions that would temporarily alter your anatomy to allow for procreation. I can make some for you if you wish. You know, I’d expect my illustrious assistant to think of these things!” Arueshalae let out a whimper and further hid in the safety of her wings.
“I-I hadn’t even considered t-the idea that we might…” Arueshalae couldn’t even squeak out the words, melting into a blushing mess.
Hilde winced. “Y-yeah, we… We’ve never discussed it. We don’t have any intention of having children, certainly not now!” Arueshalae peeked out at her, a curious look in her eyes.
Nenio huffed. “Well, you’re denying a fascinating experiment from taking place! Besides, isn’t procreation the purpose of relationships like yours?”
A spark of indignation crept into Hilde’s voice. “Not for everyone. Please, Nenio. Drop it.”
Nenio took notice of her annoyance and nodded. “Very well. But would you at least indulge the hypothetical?”
Hilde rolled her eyes, but the faintest smirk crept into her voice. “-Hypothetically-, the children of an ascended demon and an aasimar would probably be human or aasimar.”
Arueshalae finally mustered up the courage to lay her hand over Hilde’s. “We’ve never talked about it, but… B-but maybe we should?” She couldn’t bear to meet her gaze, the thought was too embarrassing.
Hilde’s cheeks flushed. “W-we… I-I mean… Not here, we’re in public. But tonight? I… Alright.”

Considering if Hilde was a virgin before Arue. She already had very little experience but I like the vibes of Arue being her first time, just adding to the nervousness and wonder. And maybe a while after Arue ventures the question of ‘how many women have you been with before’ and Hilde just shyly ‘only you’. Arue being able to be Hilde’s first experience with something so wonderful almost bringing her to tears. It was already kind of like Arue loosing her virginity, her first time being truly intimate and close and gentle instead of violent and torturous. Just reaffirms that they’re perfect for each other, they complete each other so well and showed each other how to love…

WIP Wednesday!
Some more Hilde/Arue stuff because that's all my brain can think about.
Arueshalae whimpered as she came to. Her head ached, a swelling bump on her forehead throbbed with pain where she had been hit with the blunt of Hilde’s axe. Her shoulder and side stung where she had been wounded, but not as much as she expected. She gasped out as she felt soft fingers along her shoulder, a hot, wet towel carefully cleaning the wound along her shoulder. Hilde was tending to her, seemingly in a daze of thought. Her side had already been bandaged, as well.
As she slowly sat up, Hilde pulled her into a tight hug. Arueshalae flinched. She was touching Hilde. Skin against skin, it had been weeks since she had felt even the barest brush of fingers. She was being so affectionate, her skin was so warm and soft. Her words, and the faint sob that accompanied them, barely registered. “Thank Desna you’re alright. You weren’t waking up, and I thought I had hit you too hard… G-gods, I’m so sorry, Arueshalae.”
Arueshalae was in a daze. Hilde was hugging her. How desperately she wanted to hold her back, touch her so gently, comfort her as she cried. The succubus’s fingers twitched, unable to stop herself from bringing her hands up to Hilde’s shoulderblades. Her demonic desires were quiet, she wanted this for pure reasons, just to show friendship and comfort! How badly she wanted it. It took all her willpower to hold back as she sat there, frozen. After a few seconds that had stretched into an eternity, Hilde pulled back.
She shook her head, trying to hide how drained the moments of contact had left her. Arueshalae saw through her. Even so little had exhausted what little strength she had left. Arueshalae had to turn away to hide the tears welling in her eyes. Why did it have to be like this? Why was she incapable of showing even simple friendly compassion? Why did her mere touch have to hurt those she cared about? She knew the answer of course. She was a monster created to hurt and torment and kill, she wasn’t supposed to show affection. But the answer only depressed her more. She hated who she was. She just wanted to hug Hilde, was that so much to ask?
“Are you alright? How are your wounds? Arueshalae?” Her gentle voice came again, cutting through the storm of increasingly dark thoughts that were swarming Arueshalae. She glanced back, wiping her eyes and nodding.
“Y-yes, I’m feeling better. I… I should apologize to you. I nearly killed you. I-I shot you in the stomach twice, I…” Tears of shame and guilt began to well up. “P-please forgive me, I’m so…”
She flinched again as Hilde’s fingers gently tilted her chin to look the skald in the eye. The callouses on her fingers, her long nails brushing ever so slightly against her skin, she drunk in the sweet sensations as her cheeks flushed. “You have nothing to apologize, it wasn’t your fault. You were being controlled. I’m sure you fought your hardest against it.”
Arueshalae didn’t have the heart to tell Hilde how the control had affected her. She didn’t want to remind Hilde of how dangerous she was, how deadly the monster lurking just underneath her strained smile was. She looked down at the hand that had nearly fired an arrow into Hilde’s heart and whimpered softly. “Is that what my victims felt like? Trapped in their own mind, fighting desperately against my voice screaming in their head…”
