Day 1 of taurgust2023

Welcome to Taurgust! Were we will try to draw something relating to centaurs as many days as we can!

Starting off stong with Nym and Rowl doing Parkour~

The plan is to do studies of taurs and how they might move, anatomy things or just little doodles etc. In other words, low stress. This was more detailed than we meant lol.

So... Nym is officially a taur now.

My friend (Rowl's writer) went "hey, au where Nym is a taur-" and the idea had my brain in a chokehold until it was canon. Other than four legs and other more obvious biological factors they're unchanged :3

A messy, temporary Nym reference for artfight! I added a simplified version of the hair but honestly it can be even more simple than that. Pretty much the only thing is that Nym likes beads and likes a lot of them. But they also like to match what they wear, so if less is more then that they shall do xD

Transcript: (not in order of appearance, in order of importance)

1) Beads are random, pick any placement desired! 2) jewlery random other than * (starred) 3) hairstyle can just be one braid 4) pupils must be white 5) belt goes under tail 6) usually smiles but can be serious

Starred items: necklace (gem can be white), right bracelet, one large cylinder hair bead at end of braid

Other scattered notes: 1) [head] not shaven [on sides] line of braids. 2) white tattoos connect freckles [on shoulders]. Random! 3) belt buckle raven skull (optional) 4) electric burn scars meant to be faint (therefore optional). 5) bracelets on legs can be anywhere or left off

Not written: the tattoos on their shoulders are meant to look like constellations. The tattoo on their left arm is a simplified solar eclipse with three other waning moons. Shark tooth earring is optional!

Nym's dog half is meant to be an ambigious mutt visially based on malamutes, huskies and akitas. However they are more the height of a great dane so about the average height of a human at the top of the head.

Eyo, we are late but here's our sharky mermay piece!

We actually have a lot of reasons for picking the sharks that we did. Both are open ocean sharks, first. Second, Rowl is a blue shark because they are known for traveling in packs, are very fast, and growing up they were described to me as "wolves of the open ocean". Nym is an oceanic white tip because they are found all over the world (though mostly in tropical waters, that is less accurate), and the white tips always reminded me of clouds a bit.

Sharks are a special interest lol.

Right we haven't updated in a while-

We are in the process of reworking the main characters, I think we wrote about that before but now we have some designs going!

Biff Dirkstone is now Rowl Ferndale (first picture) and has all the looks from his mama, but with the bodytype and eye color of his dad. Most of his changes are in personality, which we haven't touched on much yet.

Velir Farraven is now Nym Elskyr (second picture) they have a whole new backstory, personality and and a few design changes. They now come from the same continent as Rowl, though still different country...

We will get updated art out of them soon, but while we do that is there anything you'd like to know? We will likely start uploading screenshots of the Instagram questionares, but we'd love to know what you want to know. :3
