The Misfit of Demon King Academy: Anos May Get Himself Into Trouble
Anos Voldigoad, who made a deal with the human hero, Konan to give his life up in order to ensure peace after 2000 years of fruitless and brutish war is now resurrected. But he finds himself in a totally different world. The royal demons now subjugate hybrid demons and treat them as lower class. Since they are descendants of Anos himself, he can’t withstand the injustice that is meted out to them. So, Anos decides that he will become the Demon King again. But for that, he needs to graduate from the Demon King academy.
At the academy, Anos now has made a few friends but he also has enemies who are waiting for the right opportunity to backstab him. Anos is in a dilemma as he can’t seem to decide whether he should be participating in the Sword tournament since there are apprehensions of there being some sort of sinister plan made to lure him in.
Ray has recently joined Anos team and he is extremely optimistic that the tournament will be an easy win for Anos. But since Ray is a royalty class demon it’s much easier for him to be self-assured. Anos is half-blood so the odds will always be stacked up against him. Being royal blood opens many opportunities. The full-blooded royalty demons would never want half-blood Anos to win the tournament as it would mean a change in the balance of power that the royals can’t accept at any cost.
Anos believes that he is in a lose-lose situation. Even if he wins, he is probably going to get a backlash from the pure-blood royals who will definitely hate his guts for trying to change the well-established balance of power. If he doesn’t participate, he would appear timid and weak. The whole tournament is very likely an attempt to take away Anos’ credibility as it does not seem in any way a test for the candidature of Demon King. This can be an evil plan of Avos Dilhevia, who replaced Anos and wrote him out of history.
Anos had created seven demons from his blood and one of them – Sir Melheis Boran seems to be on his side. He is trustworthy and cares about Anos. It was in his presence some 2000 years ago Anos had created the magic barrier after which he was banished from Dilhevia. Melheis thinks that Avos is now going to strike back and keeping this in mind, Anos needs to drop out of the tournament since it seems like an elaborate plan to surprise him and catch him off guard. Anos, on the other hand, isn’t bothered much by all the speculations.
Ivis, in the disguise of a cat, tells Anos that Melheis is not in control of Unitarians but someone else is. He also informs Anos about some other secrets on the day of the tournament. Anos’ opponent is going to be Krut Lowell, who is the previous tournament’s winner and also the brother of Emilia Ludowell, a former teacher of Anos.
There are too many speculations and conspiracies regarding the Magic Sword Tournament. It remains to be seen which turns out to be true. Will Anos find himself stuck in a sinister plan to make him look bad? or the pure-blood royalty become hostile towards him if he ends up winning the tournament and destabilizing the power balance? The separation of power between the ANBU and the Military Police was not so black and white. Since there were no clear distinctions between their jurisdiction, it was completely up to the discretion of Hokage to provide clarity in moments of conflict.
Konoha used to have a special branch of ANBU called Root. They used to work underground to maintain social order. The members were expected to follow Danzo Shimura’s order with unquestioning obedience. The Root’s loyalty was supposed to be so strong that they used to follow Shimua’s order at the expense of the village.
As it’s obvious the Konoha’s ANBU was acting against the interests of the village itself which led to the gradual degradation that led to the corruption of the entire squad. People of the village too lost their faith in them, and slowly ANBU lost their support too. All of this was up to Naruto’s time.
But decades later it seems the Konoha’s ANBU has undergone a reformation. They have become more transparent. The neoteric ANBU seems more progressionist and liberal and has won the support of people of the village as well. Their bad-reputation appears to have become a relic of the past.
The greater dependence and trust showed on the junior ninjas also show a sort of radical shift to established norms of the past. The younger ninjas known as Team 25 are an example of this as they are already helping the senior ninjas in their mission. They are also helping Sai to get to Kara, which is impressive as such young ninjas co-operating with seniors and helping them out in missions is no small feat in itself.
The paradigm shift of the approach of the senior ninjas to deal with the younger ones is impressive, to say the least. The younger ninjas are trusted enough to be bestowed with secrets and information of the Konoha’s defence team. The newer generation of the students is much more punctual and obedient as they comply with what they are told, which is in stark contrast with the ninjas like Naruto and Sasuke.
The purification of the ANBU and restoring their reputation was no easy challenge for the Hokages who had to struggle a lot with it. The shady history of the ANBU included secretly spying on the people of the village, and as if this was not enough, they were killed too on some occasions. They used to take children who were antisocial under their wings and manipulated them. Root, Danzo’s death cult, was also one of the examples of the corruption of the ABNU. It was no surprise that the villagers had lost trust in them. Restoring confidence and resolving differences took years.
The gradual shift from such shady business of the ABNU in the Naruto series to the present-day liberal leadership of the younger ninjas encapsulates the transformation of the ABNU which goes back to the roots of Konoha.
