A content purr left his lips at the nuzzling, the Beastman closing his eyes. He wrapped his arms around his partner, tail going to wrap around his leg as he sighed. The nibbling had a small moan to leave his lips.

"What did I tell you? I've got it handled," the shopkeeper replied with an amused smirk. While it was true that most of 'voodoo' was simply parlor tricks used to drain poor tourists of their coin, the magic did exist. However, it didn't follow any normal rules of magic. Of course Raoul wasn't convinced, but this was Sam's primary type of magic. He knew it like the back of his hand.

Sam stirred the contents of the cauldron, the concoction resembling something more like stew than an actual potion. "This is a recipe my mom taught me. It doesn't seem like it would work, but let me assure you, it does. Look into the pot and ask a question. It'll show you what you need."

His one visible eye blinks once when he's addressed. Had he been staring? Sure, he'd looked, but he'd zoned out a little when he noticed the other man's cybernetic arm. The words had snapped him back into reality.

Maybe he was staring. "Mah apologies, mister," comes the drawling accent as he turns his head away to stare down at the bottle he's holding instead. "I jus' don't tend t'see a lotta other people with cybernetic upgrades."

“What, is this a bad time?” Sam asked with a hint of a smirk. Yes, the door to Raoul’s office was locked. But when Sam said it was him at the door, the professor still let him in. If it really was such a bad time as Raoul was making it seem, he wouldn’t have opened the door for Sam, right?

So, the shopkeeper walked over to Raoul’s desk, seemingly without a care in the world. “I haven’t seen you all day, so I was starting to get worried. Decided I should check on you and make sure you’re alright.” Raoul usually visited the shop at lunch, after all. Besides…he also wasn’t answering his texts, so Sam felt he was right to worry. “So… Why did you lock the door to your office anyway?”

"What were you thinking, doing a reckless thing like that for.??" Sam appreciated that Raoul cared enough to move him out of the way and get hurt instead when the shattered glass of a broken vial fell off of the shelf. It cut Raoul's hand, not a terrible injury but still one that could have been avoided. And now, Sam was trying to clean and bandage up the bleeding gash on his partner's palm.

The shopkeeper sighed after tying off the bandage, his work now complete. "This kind of stuff happens all the time. It's why I wear gloves." His frustration stemmed from the fact that now Raoul was hurt, and for what? Protecting Sam from falling glass that wouldn't have caused too much damage? His shadow would have likely stopped the glass from hitting him anyway. "Just... Be careful, alright? Don't throw yourself in danger for me."

⁕| Muses Who Think They Don't Deserve Love |⁕

Somehow, that was hard for Sam to believe. Raoul was wonderful. Intriguing and attractive, but clearly valued the people he cared about... In Sam's eyes, he was perfect. Surely he had many friends and close connections from his past that he was forgetting about. He was far too lovely for no one to care about him.

But couldn't something similar be said about Sam? True, he had many friends in his time at Night Raven College, but none of those friendships really meant anything significant. He was popular, but that didn't mean he actually had any close friends. There was only one person who he considered to be a close friend, but he lived across Sage Island near the opposing school. Really, Sam just had Raoul. No one else has ever cared for Sam the way his partner did.

"I know what you mean... I've had a lot of companions in the past, but none of them meant as much as you do. None of them cared like you do." In that way--and in so many others--Raoul was special.

“Hey!! I’m sixteen!!” the girl retorted with a very child-like huff. Despite her protest, Alanna knew he wasn’t wrong. She had been told on many, many, many occasions that she was a bit over-excitable. But she just couldn't help it!! There were so many wonderful and interesting things about the world that she could finally experience now that she wasn't stuck inside all the time. How could she not be overjoyed.??

"Besides, I'm only excited because I'm gonna finally see my brother again!" Alanna added as she crossed her arms over her chest in a mild pout. "Do you know my brother, Kristian? He goes to school here at Night Raven College. I haven't see him in forever it feels like, so I'm so happy to be here!!"

Sam glanced over at his partner as he looked himself over in the mirror. The shopkeeper couldn't help but smirk in amusement. Yes, Raoul was very handsome, and that wasn't just from his bias as his lover. But that didn't mean Sam was about to easily stoke his ego like that.

"Hmmm..." Sam hummed as he looked over his partner, a faux thoughtful expression upon his face. "I guess I can somewhat see what you mean..." he teased as he playfully evaluated the professor. "Although I wouldn't use the term rugged... More like cute~" he added with a playful smirk.
