By the stars! Eragon had a good idea!
I forgot it was his plan to track the Seithr oil from shipping records. Brom apparently hadn’t even thought of doing so in his prior travels.
Well done Eragon, have a cookie

There it is, dumbass Eragon strikes again. He needed to balance out that good idea he had.
Like seriously, trying to throw 12 Urgals instead of killing them - or even just knocking them out more efficiently? Brom says a rock through the head would’ve been easier, but a rock TO the head probably would’ve knocked them out and NOT wiped Eragon.
Or ya know, discuss the dumbass plan with at least Saphira - you can talk at the speed of thought so

Mark one tally under the “Eragon didn’t do the dumbass thing” column.
He nearly “freed” a slave in Dras Leona but realised they wouldn’t get away.
He literally thought “think Eragon, this how you got into trouble with the urgals”
Can’t believe he’s learned his lesson this soon, though Brom Was drilling on this for weeks after the urgals so I’d give him the credit

I’m certain this is something a lot of us are going to do, but I’m going to reread the inheritance cycle in preparation for Murtagh being released in November.
Wish me luck, I’m keen as for the nostalgia as it’s been a while since my last reread

And we’re with the Varden! Things begin to ramp up
Murtagh has been his moody and dramatic self, though I would’ve been to at the pace they were moving.
I forgot just how much of a bastard the twins were and I’ve only seen one so far.
ORIK ARRIVES already taking his rightful place in my heart. Bless that dwarf he’s just so damn nice.
Farther Dur in its glory still seems beyond description to me. Every time I read the description, I lose one detail as the next is added. It really does sound like the kind of place you Have to see to understand.

And just like that the last chapters of Eragon tidied up.
Eragon finally meets Arya properly, and is tested by her and the twins. I always loved that Eragon managed to piss off the twins by being purposely obstinant with the words of power he used.
The siege of Farthen Dur closes us out, with much to talk of. Dragon armour, dwarf elf and man fighting side by side, Angela’s awesome staff, and the demise of Durza.
It’s amazing how well this book holds up compared to my memory, and I’m excited to get to the next books soon. I’ve got a bit of uni to do though so I might take a few days to reprioritise that

The fact that I was telling a coworker that I was rereading Eragon, and showed them the pronunciation guide because it’s dope - ONLY TO FIND OUT I’ve been mispronouncing Ajihad’s name for YEARS.
In my defence I was a lot younger when I first read the book so I didn’t stop to think his name may have different pronunciation due to culture. Nonetheless, I am shook. He’s a whole ass different man now (still mad respect for him though).

So I definitely spaced on my reading of Eldest, but I’m still determined to finish the series before Murtagh - I just have a slightly later deadline as I’m not getting it at release
Anyways, Eragon’s training is as interesting and frustrating as ever. He seems to go alright for a while only to immediately turn and insult Oromis somehow. I understand his reluctance with his injury, but outside of that he’s still quite untactful. Respect to Oromis for calling him out when needed and generally being helpful, rather than taking offence.
Also, watching him AND Saphira attempt romantic pursuits is painful. Neither of them can take a hint

A lot happening at the end of Eragon.
Murtagh imprisoned. Hrothgar, Nasuada are met and Angela returns.
Eragon’s “blessing” and generally revered presence in Farthen Dur.
I forgot how much there is to remember in this series 😅 Only a few chapters left in the first book though, so making a good pace

Damn.
I forgot that meeting Murtagh was in such poor conditions. I really hope those arrows he hit them with give the Ra’zac issues for a long while
And so it was that Brom the storyteller died.

I’m sorry but?? I know riders get extra strong and stuff, but this is months, not the years it’s supposed to happen?
How Tf is my boy Eragon just casually shredding metal chains? I can’t imagine Sloan having chains made of paper clips even if it’s not for the main door.
