There was one time back in the day. Like 2003 or so, that I had a username Neelixvs7of9 on the official Star Trek chat room. I came up with the name based on the one tiny fight they had (the time neelix was in his depression spiral cuz he was dealing with the aftermath of literally dying and being brought back)

And soooo many people flat out bullied me for my love of Neelix. Growing up I had the mindset of “if I’m bullied for it? Then clearly it’s BAD and I must change.” And this was the first real case of me standing up for myself and going “nah fuck yall, you are wrong and neelix is awesome.”

Anyhoo when I get my financial situation straight, I’m gonna go to the first convention I see him at and tell him how much he means to me. I’ll write him a whole ass letter on the grounds of “I know we won’t have time, but you changed my life for the better when I was just a kid.”
