Foujita (1886-1968) Nuage anatomique Projet de plafond, 1928 Collection privée

Ce projet  de plafond destiné à décorer un salon d'hôtel ou de grand restaurant ne se concrétisa jamais. Foujita devra attendre1964 et sa conversion au catholicisme, pour décider avec René Lalou, son parrain, et mécène qui dirigeait la-prestigieuse maison de champagne Mumm), de construire une chapelle peinte de fresques, à Reims. C'est la chapelle Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix, surnommée « chapelle Foujita », peinte dans un style neobyzantin extrêmement statique et très différent de cette proposition mouvementée  de plafond . où les corps s'entremêle dans un apparent chaos.
