#we shouldn’t have been allowed to read this book in school! [insert classic novel here] is just inappropriate for children!#do you people even hear yourselves!!!!#this has to be the most depressing thing I’ve seen on this website and I was here in 2016-2018 (iykyk)#on the one hand. yes I get it’s probably just people complaining to themselves and it wouldn’t be a big deal on its own#but we’re living through a period of time where libraries are closing because of outcry against ‘controversial’ books#and politicians are having a blast trying to introduce legislation that makes ‘dangerous’ or ‘inappropriate’ books more difficult to access#never mind countries where these books are just outright banned#ugh#my point is that these these sentiments (however flippantly made) do not exist in a vacuum#especially now#if you wish that you had been denied access to certain books then fine. that’s your business#but please don’t encourage that practice for everyone. these books and the things you learn from them#are so crucial in furthering along your understanding of the world/its history/its people/etc. i genuinely believe that#🍓.txt
