One of my many favorite things in your fics is all the yummy foods! For TMI Tues: What are your fave recipes to make in real life and also what are your fave recipes for your characters to make in fics? (And also, where can I find these yummy sounding gems?)
Ooh, I love writing about food! I cook a lot. I have my characters cook things that I like to cook. The dishes Gold makes for Lacey the first time she goes over for dinner are favourites of mine - really easy but delicious.
So, favourite things... There’s a dish I make with minced lamb, cumin seed, chillies and chickpeas which is really good. I like cooking a lot with game and less common cuts of meat (they’re cheaper), so I’ll slow-braise something like venison or ox cheeks in red wine and herbs and serve it with mash. Or there’s potatoes roasted in goose fat with just about anything, they’re so good.
Simple stuff is often the best. Like going to the fishmonger and getting really fresh mackerel or gurnard and just pan-frying it to eat with salad or with samphire and asparagus and butter sauce.
Now I’m hungry...
