Today was my first iaido practice of the year and I was late. I think this is one point I want to improve this year: being late to the practice in Inuyama. Max from Illinois came to practice with us at the Keido Eishin Kai. He’s been extremely busy and we were glad he could spend the day with us. Today’s iaido practice. It’s still so chilly in the morning! But it’s getting warmer and that makes me excited. I dressed for the season. ✨ We warmed up with Toho no Bu as usual before breaking into small groups. My group worked on Oku Iai Tachi Waza before doing some kata. It was a good practice and I could work on my weak points. Last year’s goal was to be able to do iaido again after surgery, get my strength back, and be able to do the iaido basics well again for Taikai and enbu. I was running late and didn’t get many photos, but today I had another good practice with the Keido Eishin Kai. After warming up with everyone, I spent the rest of practice working on kata with I-sensei and S-san. ✨ I-sensei and I also did a run through of Tachi Uchi no Kurai to practice for our enbu at the Aichi Iaido Taikai. We had plenty of time left, so we did Tsumeai no Kurai, too. Today’s practice was too cold. I had to bribe myself out of bed with McDonald’s breakfast it was so cold. There’s no heater or AC in the Inuyama Budokan. I didn’t wanna go. 🥶 But I’m glad I did. We had an excellent practice as usual. After warming up with ZNIR’s Toho no Bu, we worked on kata. We even got to Tsumeai no Kurai, which I haven’t done in a while. Today I was not looking forward to today’s practice. It’s a low of 0°C and only a high of 6° and I’m from Houston. Today’s practice with the Keido Eishin Kai in Inuyama. The mornings nowadays are chilly enough to make my hands numb! The small group I practiced with played with a tanto-sized bokuto for a bit. It was interesting. I also spent some time practicing waza for the hono enbu next month, then I-sensei and I worked on kata.
