Hello there! I’ve been gone for quite awhile but I’m happy to say I’m back! Here’s the abridged version of where I’ve been. My mama had major spine surgery on October 1st. She’d been in horrible pain for over a year and the doctors discovered that she urgently needed surgery. This 1st surgery required 3 surgeons, lasted over 8 hours, but was a success! Mama is not only sitting, standing, and walking again (none of which were a given or had great probability) but she now is walking without a walker! The healing process is long and painful but we’re grateful it was a success and that her pain is greatly reduced. Originally mom’s surgery was scheduled for November but due to rapidly increasing pain, they pushed her surgery up a month. Though grateful, the earlier date did throw a wrench into mom’s plans. Sue is a well known professional theatrical lighting designer and already had shows booked that now landed squarely in surgery/recovery. You may not know this, but I also work in theatrical lighting and have worked w/ my mom since 2003. To make the new date work, Sue pre-designed all her shows and brought me in to install & program her design + train in her technicians while she was in recovery. This was all figured out during @junkbonanza. As soon as I finished JB, I went straight into mama care & lighting land. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to post and explain all this then but as those who’ve gone through similar situations can attest, it was so busy and I just didn’t have the emotional energy to deal w/ anything that wasn’t family. I shared photos of my time away so I could show you a glimpse of what I worked on while I was gone! They show where I’ve been, some shows I worked on, and the wonderful people I worked with. It was hard to step away from Knitteapolis but I knew you’d all understand, mama needed me and family comes first. ❤️ Thank you to all who sent messages and emails while I was away. Your love and concern meant the world to me. Now I’m back and ready to get my yarn on! I’m already working on a new yarnbomb w/ @mplsdid & I’ll give you all the juicy deets in my next post.
