Midnight Moonlight (Forever-Sleeping Flower) // Kirby: Triple Deluxe (2014)

This was supposed to be a special kirby triple deluxe animation but I had better ideas

(I was gonna animate kirby characters playing moonstruck blossom with instruments)

Would've been cool tho... but thats WAY to hard to animate

I think I did a better job of drawing this Dreamstalk than I did the first time in this project. While I am very proud of how it turned out, I'm grateful I don't have to draw it again for this project. This feels like my most ambitious piece for the project so far.

The Kirby series already has a sun and moon character, but I decided I didn't want to include either of them for this project, as it felt too easy for me to do, and I wanted to at least try to symbolically fit the characters with the theme. While Sectonia's battlefield was the main inspiration behind my inclusion of her for this project, I think that her story with Taranza could be connected to the message of The Moon. Sectonia's ideas of beauty and power were created by the illusions and fear given to her by the mirror that Taranza gifted her. Through her descent into madness, she no longer heard the voice calling for her, leaving her to desire that long sought after eternal rest.

I felt very ambitious with this drawing. I tried a lighting method and angle that I'm not used to doing, and while there are a few things I would change (firstly her wings I think are the wrong shape) I still feel pretty proud for trying to go for something harder than normal on such a complex character design. I hope to try it more in the future (but maybe not so soon after)

A moonstruck melody theory

I've had this theory about moonstruck blossom for a while, and I keep seeing evidence in canon to back it up. I'm almost convinced it's canon at this point.

This theory stems from the song "eternal dream", where the lyrics state that at the heights of her madness(blossomed sec), despite her abhorrence for the world around her, she was still absorbed in reminiscence of a "song of love". According to the translation on the wiki.

Considering the melody playing in the background of eternal dream is the moonstruck melody, and after this lyric, the vocal go quiet briefly, allowing the listener to hear the background music, I fully believe the moonstruck melody is that song of love, and, logically the only person who could've made it is Taranza.

Now to the second part of this theory. As previously established, Sectonia was caught in reminiscence of this song during her boss fight. In the background of moonstruck blossom, there is a female voice calling along to the melody. Unless I'm wrong, this voice is absent from all other renditions of this melody.

According to the wiki,  the voice actress responsible for this voice is also the voice actress of Kirby… and,  more importantly, Sectonia.

Putting together the pieces. This voice only appears during the boss fight where Sectonia is stated to be absorbed in reminiscence of a song of love. One which is stated to be escaping her. This voice is also from the voice actor of Sectonia herself. 

With this, I conclude that Sectonia,  during the first phase of her boss fight, was calling out this song that had once been so deeply engraved into her heart that even after losing herself, she did not lose it. Leading her to keen the thing that made sense to her beyond her goals.

ohhhhh when the final boss theme is slow and beautiful... when so much of the boss music has been intense and high-tempo and then the final fight just strips it down and makes the tone entirely different.......

The song Pixlriffs uses for a lot of his timelapses, Mandragora, is really nice. It also sounds just enough like the final boss theme of Kirby Triple Deluxe to throw me off every time he uses it.

I feel like the girlies (Gn) will appreciate this one
