Stupid insane Monkey Wrench theory that I may or may not turn into an AU based on this ss that caught my eye

Everything here is copied and pasted from Discord because I was going OFF with this thing bro like damn

Me: Who the fuck (referring to the ss)

I’m staring at the picture frame it’s sitting on

Friend: I'm not 100% sure on the photo tbh? Might be something in the future or maybe it's a cameo I'm not sure of

Me: It apparently gets destroyed im assuming- so yeah I guess we won’t really know :(

My money is that it has to do with Scratch and Scritch, I mean why else would he of kept it? (Aside from the fungi splatter that gets caught on it)

Friend: It could also be the remains of the ship that was infected by the fungi! Maybe it's a photo of the couple there & Scratch & Scritch wanted to keep it to sell

Me: I gotta look into their backstories real quick. If it is what I possibly think it is, I’m going to go ballistic

*Theory starts here*

I didn’t get much on the wiki but i have an insane fucking theory that Scratch and Scritch are possibly just ex human scientists who have placed their consciousness in the bodies of lab created anthro like cats. That’s their old ship that they most likely abandoned, and aside from leaving a ton of things behind and having it possibly ransacked by the Space Pirates— they revisited the ship to possibly loot off whatever they could possibly find that’s left

However their little exploration was cut short due to running into the Agari who must’ve found refuge in the abandoned ship. Thus leading Episode 3 to unfold, and leave Scritch and Scratch with one less memory of their past lives they can no longer return to. The girl in the middle I have no idea who it is

But my first instinct instantly jumped to Kara

Like Kara, Scritch, and Scratch were all just a small team of scientists exploring the unknown and shit just went fucking haywire. Scratch pretends like nothing happened while taking on this punchable salesman persona (that he drops rather quickly sometimes due to his temper)

While Scritch and Kara don’t dare speak in general because of it. Scritch was already most likely mute, but his interactions with his brother are much more distant now. He doesn’t really get a second word, nor does he fight it anymore. He simply complies even if it’s unethical, he is simply doing what he is told, waiting for the day to probably get a chuckle out of Scratch’s stupidity.

This is like the dumbest thing I have come up with because my friend confirmed that Zeurel had already confirmed that Scritch and Scratch are just silly little alien cats but MAN. My brain + anything that hits at anything? I cannot resist dropping my stupid little ideas <3

Anyways Here is an au variant of an oc of mine to fit the Monkey Wrench universe :3

Yet another monkey wrench oc, this is moss, another member of the SSF Brick. Moss wasn’t on their home world during the time of the galactic cataclysm, but tried to find some of their friends once they thought it was safe for them to go back. From that they were somewhat effected by the nuclear fallout, but not as bad as the other agari.

Moss uses their mouth to show emotion more than anything else, as they communicate entirely through telepathy. Moss can release spores from themself that, when inhaled, establishes a neural connection with whoever inhaled their spores. Only the crew of the SSF Brick have really established a neural link between themselves and moss, but moss is ok with that, as they don’t do the talking much anyway.

Moss is also a surprisingly good navigator, able to read maps and accurately calculate speed without help from technology. The crew still keep technology for their own sake though. Moss often assists in picking jobs, and navigates the ship. They’re also the main muscle of the group, able to pick up things that the rest of the crew would need tools to carry with relative ease.

Okay I'm gonna be a bit crazy on the main tag and share a theory

I think Beebs tried applying for Civil service but couldn't because of his... History

I think it went like this

He was studying/training for it and he was about to be accepted

Something... Tragic happened. The "accident" where he lost his limbs? That might or might not have been his fault. But he was charged for it

He was no longer able to apply because he has a criminal record now?

We've seen a couple of times that he's ready and prone to help and protect people, it's just something in his nature

Also he's very quick to adapting to other species' customs or societies, or their biology. Like being respectful to Punti, and being surprisingly chill when he was communicating with the Agari's phantom.

It would explain the speech he gave before attacking Us, it'd be something that he learned from his training

Maybe his glove which is a similar blue to Killix' uniform and his multi-tool?

Now I don't have evidence for this last point but it's giving me vibes okay. I think he might have been banished from his home planet for what happened in the accident, too.

We barely know anything about Walrinian culture, but I figure their tusks are important. At least with real walruses, tusks are a form of status. I think him removing his tusks (or possibly having them removed against his will?) could be a sign of dishonor.

Or maybe he just lost them in the accident and he just filed them down. But either way, the Symbolism is still there. He no longer has a connection with his home planet and culture.

Beebs strikes me as someone who knows what it's like to lose it all, and he really doesn't want it to happen again, so he plays it very safe with everything he does. Like for example how he wants to slowly build up on the Monkey Wrench company

And I'm willing to say he's taking this approach with Shrike's friendship too.

He's the opposite to Shrike, he dislikes risk. I think it was this accident or... Whatever happened that shaped him into what he's like today. And it would make this conversation with Us make more sense.

If all of this is right (or close), that means he's lost so much. The majority of his limbs, the direction he was going to take with his life as a civil servant, possibly the link to his family and his culture. All of this happening so quickly might have motivated him to...

Yeah.

Hello! Good morning, afternoon or evening depending on when you are reading this.

Seeing your Monkey Wrench zombie AU made me wonder: between Shrike and Bulldog/Beebs, who is the one who handles himself better in terms of being under stress in a tense and serious situation? And above all, how were the opinions of the two of them regarding the virus between when it began with the first cases of infection until today when, well, apparently they have already gotten used to this environment of survival? If there was any change in their opinions regarding this whole situation in the galaxy, of course

TRANSLATION FOR MY TERRIBLE HANDWRITING UNDER THIS!!! <3

1) I think in tense situations Beebs definitely handles his stress a lot better. Shrike tries his best, but when things get life-threatening he becomes a mess. He's capable of defending himself of course! And he knows what he's doing! But I think sometimes he doubts his own capabilities. :(

2) I'm trying to align with the canon of the show, and the virus starting appearing shortly after the Cataclysm event, and the infected Agari began to spread it throughout the Galaxy. I think at the point it breached containment, and L.A.W became unresponsive, Shrike didn't believe it at first, while Beebs was more concerned.

3) I think Shrike didn't take it very seriously until the incident with Tyneen. (I did a little comic about it in a previous post!!) And after that, he set aside his interest in Terran stuff out of disdain for the destruction they caused. As for adapting? I think they're doing fine... but it could be better.

4) And Beebs is pretty disappointed in L.A.W for their disappearance, arguably maybe even angry with them. I think after losing his eye he became less willing to goof off and have fun like he used to. He's a lot more serious now.
