a question for any yarn crafters out there, for a cosplay i'm working on i need to make a kind of big skirt, and because i can't find a good fabric with the exact pattern i need i've been planning on knitting it myself (i also think it would look cool and just fit the costume). but i've also seen people crochet skirts, and since my skirt needs to be pretty wide by the end i'm thinking maybe that would be easier?

but i don't know, i'm a beginner when it comes to knitting and crocheting, so any tips are welcome!

this is one of my favourite games and the misstitched dress is my favourite outfit from the game ;3

This is mostly an excuse to draw/design some outfits

Explanations for my design choices are under here vv (it’s really long)

There were several things I kept in mind for all of these. Like: the dress is still recognizable, each one has a somewhat different silhouette, visible shorts, an open front, and generally lean towards the feminine side while having some vague masculine flair

Now onto little details for each one

Classic: pretty standard. I added a white collar at the top, at the sleeves, and peeking out of the shorts to add a pop of contrast and some visual flair. I made the aprons ribbons(?) longer because it looked more interesting. And made the actual apron shorter to show off the shorts. This is basically the template I used to keep things consistent

Steamdress: I added more shirt ruffles on the front to break up the amount of browns and black there is, and added ruffles to the wrists cuffs and edge of sleeves for the same reason. Visible crinoline was added and the skirt was shortened for some difference compared to the other outfits. Shorts look like the bottom of dress, but without the white and in a darker brown

Siren: I made the top look more like a suit, pink to tie in with the scales and underskirt, while still keeping the seashells from the original. Skirt is more bell shaped compared to the others. Shorts look more like the sleeves, but darker and without the pearls and added details. Given a darker undershirt to tie it all together and to make the horseshoe pop

Silk Maiden: I’ve adopted a friends headcanon that Jon’s mom is Korean and made the top and shorts of the outfit resemble a hanbok (the jeogori and baji) as a fun little nod. The horseshoe was tied to the goreum instead of being around the neck, like the others

Royal Suit: I added white to the sleeves and underskirt for visual difference, and referenced some concept art for the collar because I thought it was an interesting touch. Top was changed to more resemble a suit. Shorts resemble the original dresses bottom. And I added the clubs symbol to the lapels because the original did not have it

Misstitched: I added a smaller portion of crinoline to the top of the skirt for no other reason other than “that looks nice”. Bow was added around the neck to match the bow at the waist, and the horseshoe was tied into it. Shorts match the shirt, ruffles, and the arm sleeves

{{ By the way, I thought Jervis changed appearance a lot just between Origins and Knight, but I forget he has a photo in the original Asylum game that's even starker, in his patient file. He was much more comic book Jervis, with a brighter and more flamboyant outfit. Also.... he was a redhead. With sideburns. Once again, full leprechaun jervis. Which means in just this one franchise Jervis was depicted a ginger, a blonde, and a brunette with drastically different clothes lmao. I have no excuse for the extreme face changes, but I'm willing to accept that he probably has worn all these outfits in my canon lol. I do just love though how it feels like Jervis is doing the American Mcgee's costume change thing for every chapter of his life. Like, maybe he did dress happier before his first Arkham time. And then next would come Origins, and he's darker but still well kept enough to have a cravat and lace sleeves. He's also dressed more ready for aggression, he resembles Jack the Ripper, accepting his role as a criminal by this point. But then next comes post Dr. Strange, and he's quite literally depicted as being torn apart and sewn back together. There's absolutely zero reason for him to be dressed that way diegetically except to convey metaphor to the audience like What I'm saying is that Jervis' sewn up jacket is his equivalent of the Dollhouse Dress. This is his Misstitched dress. That's what I'm saying. And I'm right. }}

Wally Darling- After losing a beloved neighbor Apple Bunny to the So Below Infection, Wally began to craft a doll, naming it after Apple or Lil Miss Apple, a little one to call her "Daddy."

Julie Joyful- Alive, is the first neighbor of Apple Plush

Eddie Dear Frankly- Alive, is the second neighbor to find Apple Plush of a mail run

Apple Darling aka Lil Miss Apple - A plush rabbit doll made from the neighbors around the neighborhood, Poppy, Frank, Sally, Howdy, and Barnaby, and Home She is a creme-colored rabbit plush doll Wally made giving her Home "Heart" and some of the neighbor's limbs when he ran out of the original material, using the neighbor's clothes to make a misstitched dress for her out of the neighbor's clothes, she as one normal eye (her left) and one black button eye (her right)

It was a grimace day in the neighborhood of Welcome Home, The beloved neighbor known as Apple Bunny was in the psychiatric hospital after violently attacking another neighbor at her bakery a couple of days ago. It was bizarre and unnatural behavior that none of the neighbors had seen before, Wally was the only one who knew her condition and it racked him with guilt. She had the infection, The "So Below" infection. He thought it was all controlled, all contained...he was wrong it turns out.

Wally looked at Apple Bunny's home and then walked into the Victorian residence she lived in, it was eerie quiet as he looked at the happy memories on the wall, the photos in their frames, and the art pieces Wally had given her as gifts seemed empty now, he hated it, he wanted to change it..but how?.

Soon Wally heard a knock on the front door of Apple's home It was You, You held some flowers as they placed them on the doorstep of Apple's house. "I hope she gets better soon for a bunny with a gothic witch aesthetic, She was a great and kind baker and neighbor," You said as your words cut Wally like a knife as he knew she would never get better. There was no cure for the infection but death and he wouldn't do it again...not again not another neighbor.

Wally snaps out of his thoughts and nods at You as he walks outside closing the door of Apple's house. "Yes, let's hope she gets better soon neighbor; she was the absolute most..." Wally says looking at the house again before walking back to the neighborhood with You.

Misstitched Alice Dress from Alice: Madness Returns

I love the designs in Alice: Madness Returns. The chapter that this dress comes from is the brightest as well as darkest chapter in the whole game.
