Where injustices or mysteries lie, the Blackwell family goes. If there is a question that they wish to answer or research that needs to be done in their chosen field, they will travel any distance in order to satiate their curiosity or record more data. The same philosophy is applied whenever word reaches their ears about danger, especially from those that wish to do harm to innocents. History will tell you how some Blackwell ancestors dedicated the rest of their lives to this cause after their pack was slaughtered by hunters and how plenty of their descendants took up the torch in the years that followed. Alpha or Omega, the Blackwells believe in their pup's future capabilities as a scholar or as a protector. Or both, if Mother Nature called on them to dedicate their lives equally to each cause.
This is how the following generations have continued to live. They settle in places long enough to raise their pups and even the temporary homes never lack in love. Nor do they lack in knowledge thanks to the extensive libraries and research projects that quickly fill up Blackwell residences. This system has worked for years, for countless members of the family.
Except for Wyatt's parents. After an encounter with a hunting family while protecting a nearby town, they learned that his mother was pregnant. The work of the Blackwells may be important yet the welfare of their own remains the priority. This is what led them to settle in New Haven and in November, they welcomed Wyatt.
Wyatt grew up here in New Haven, only accompanying his parents on short trips outside of town and thoroughly warned about the dangers that lurk beyond the barrier. Hunters, fellow supernaturals who were corrupted in some fashion, and all the other forms that destruction took - ordinary and otherworldly. Just like his ancestors before him, Wyatt heeded the warnings. Just like his ancestors before him, nothing could calm the restless nature of a Blackwell. Part of him still longs to venture out beyond the barrier. To see the brighter sides of a larger world and tirelessly investigate what lies in the shadows. While he has the support of his parents, there is something else tethering him to home.
Namely the haunting whispers that invade whenever his ears are free. Music streaming services and seemingly endless playlists are amazing aids but devices eventually run out of battery. Not to mention the occasional difficulties that can come with deciphering messages left by ghosts. But Wyatt can never bring himself to deny the odd sort of comfort at knowing that he isn't alone. He tends to keep light company like his relatives - a long-lasting impact of trauma the family endured - so the ghosts are welcome company, their presence a pleasant break from loneliness. Maybe one day he will seek the advice of someone older who was also born under the Ghost Moon and learn to better utilize this ability granted by Mother Nature. Until then, the current system he has works well enough.
For now, Wyatt is content with his life. Working as a detective, he throws himself into each case that lands on his desk. He sticks to a strict routine of charging his devices to keep some sound in his ears as often as possible. One day, he'll become a private investigator and journey out into the world like his ancestors before him. But New Haven will always be home. Even to a wanderer's soul such as his.
