My redesigned version of the main mermaid melody girls

(Their super idol forms are coming next)

In my version I think playing with different race & ethnic backgrounds for the girls would be really cool based on how their all from different parts of the world

I imagine them to be around 16/17 years old (bc if the fashion mainly) and some story decisons

But I really hope you guys like it I had sm fun making them !!

havent time to clean this up so!! mermaid melody redesign!! :33 i love mermaid melody to deff its on par with princess tutu for me in terms of favorite show of all time.

anyway, heres like, what i had going. When Luchia was younger, saved a boy from drowning, same stuff as the original only in my version, she gets reminded of this fact her ENTIRE LIFE! like this is a pretty big deal in the long run!! shes incredibly embarrassed by this and while she isn't exactly bullied for this...nobody lets her forget this. The Princess who gave her pearl to a human she barely even knew. It made her disinterested in humans due to the negative associations she has with them. Eventually, at 16, she decides to make an effort to retrieve it due to an omen from her auntie. She attends a local college in japan, the last time she recalled actually visiting the human world in search of the human boy. Unfortunately, she has no leads for several years but she does learn about human society more.

While Luchia isn't exactly eager about humans, that doesnt mean she can't style herself cutely! So I drew her with Japanese fashion in mind. I decided to make her actually have a red pearl yet she chooses to wear pink cuz she wants to! Shes also based off of northern pacific fish as well, i took into account common features between north pacific fish and applied that to her mermaid design.

She likes fashion and beauty alot!! :3

Eventually, when Luchia begins college, the towns lovely surfer boy finally comes back after spending some time in Hawaii, Kaito. Yet Luchia doesn't recognize him. I honestly tried re-designing Kaito but I just couldn't make him appealing enough, to me anyway.

With how I've designed Luchia, I feel like she wouldn't actually really be interested in dating, especially with danger on the horizon. But! I am to ideas lol. I kinda cooked alot but its mainly cuz i love mermaid melody sm :3

Have some shitty scetches since my Fineliner just died...

Okay so basic premise for my redesign is similar but different, so lukias design is heavily (like very heavily) inspired by her mother's, and the magical girl dress as well

I kept luchias face framing strands, but changed the parting, same with the bangs. I think it would be neat if lukia was associated with pearls, so she gets a little pearl scrunchie for her ponytail :)

For her mermaid design I simply changed the pigtails into a hightail, pink mermaids are apparently the only ones allowed to tie their hair up... Also she gets pearls on the hair clip and earrings.

For the dress I went with luchias but pearlified it yet again 😅 the dresses in mmppp aren't actually that elaborate, so I went rather plain as well. The upgraded version is heavily inspired by the jellyfish dress from jellyfish princes, and basically just more skirt layers and more pearls again 😅

As for shoes and and gloves, I cannot draw frills so I went with closetoed sandals and just short gloves.

I've also done some designs that are basically Karen's and Rina's dress but with pearls, like it's really not difficult to keep the og vibes but make it different??

It's easier for me if all the new polls post in a row with no gaps between, so round 2 will start in a few days to give the hourly tournament a chance to catch up! This should be the only round where I have to do that.

The Nightmare Before Christmas!

Tim Burton x Monster High

Monster high just revealed the first look of The Nightmare Before Christmas Skullector pack! They release October 27th, 2023 at $90 USD

Read my opinions about them below!

My Opinions:

I personally don’t think I’ll be trying to get them, but they’re pretty dolls! The attention-to-detail is great and I love how close they stuck to the originals (like with Sally’s eyes)!

However, I wish they made Sally’s stitches more prominent. I didn’t even realize she had more than her mouth ones until making this post! They could’ve also given her some of the stick-on lashes that they’ve done for previous skullectors like the Haunt Couture line, but that might be a little nit-picky because I don’t personally like those lashes (that’s just me though! I feel like they make the face look a little clunky(?) but in this case it might make sense). I like the bottom half of the dress, but I wish they didn’t go with another mermaid style and sort of kept to her original one!

As for Jack, I don’t have much to complain about! The only thing I don’t really like about him is the orange on his vest/shirt. I don’t know if this will make sense, but it feels too bright and blends with Sally’s hair.

Maybe I’ll do what I did with Off White’s Electra Melody and show how I’d redesign them!

Yes this is the 50 millionth spidersona oc you've seen on your feed but I don't care this movie was phenomenal and I will scream about it until tHE THIRD ONE COMES OUT

I don't have a name for her yet, BUT I have an idea for the basic concept of her which is basically a pop idol crime fighter lol. Think Spider-man but its Mermaid Melody, but they also punch eachother while they sing so also Hi-Fi Rush

If I were to redesign her suit (which I probably will) I would probably add a few more music motifs. Something to keep in my for next time~

I wanted her to have silver hair like her uncle and since her hair is silver, in her mermaid form her hair is a very pale blond. She’s overall very powerful as well since she’s Half-Panthalessa, but unfortunately that puts a huge target on her back for bad guys......
