CARPENTER’S “AURORA 7" - The historic Mercury-Atlas 7 capsule “Aurora 7" on display in the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, Illinois. Launched on May 24, 1962 as the 4th "Project Mercury" mission, "Aurora 7" took astronaut Scott Carpenter (the 4th American and 6th human into Space) on a five-hour voyage that circled the Earth three times.
