So this idea came to me and I mention it a bit in this fic im writing, that's sorta about the general premise but I really wanna gush about this specific idea.
That super early into Dennis and Mac's relationship like just before they move in or just as they're moving in together that Dennis is fucking madly IN love with Mac to like a comically silly delusional degree only Dennis could pull off.
He's not even particularly subtle and is entirely like "figured it out" in a perfect Dennis horse before the cart sorta way.
Mac rn is so far up the closet that only Dennis has really picked up on it and half of that is his own deluded wishful thinking.
He's like " So really Dee Mac and have already been dating, it's not like he has any better prospects so when he moves in it's only a matter of logistics to how we make it official"
"Dee having to compromise is all what relationships as intimate as mac's and i is about so while I might not be particularly religious I can respect that mac is and love like ours is more important than sex, besides domestic partnerships are a huge step towards equalizing marriage so it won't be THAT long"
"maybe then after we date and live in the apartment for a while and finally get married, I hear you should wait 5 years living with someone before marrying them anyway. I was thinking about maybe getting a little place in the suburbs maybe a dog who knows"
Meanwhile Dee is institutionalized and like 😐 to all of this.
And then like he actually tries being "gay" with Mac in like the most innocent of ways and the backlash is so bad that he goes so ass backwards into denial and erases the fact it even happened for years outside of him sorta stringing him along and torturing him out of petty revenge.
until they move into the suburbs.
And dennis fucking snaps.
And just really fucking means it when he says he hates Mac.
