Just letting you know Maze War belongs, in my opinion, to this category. At least to some degree...
Tumblr media
By the way, I will make one of such along my game making journey some when, probably when I get enough confidence and feel bored enough of generating top-down perspective layouts. Because as I really am into emulating (or at least try to) historical progression with tweaks from innovative games / engines and a couple of my own on top. My ideal aim is to make a custom-built derivative of BUILD2 with some Lisp dialect, much borrowings from less recent engines and unique additions of my very own, because I am all in for software toys like that.
Part of such will be SVG sprites, markup game description system, OGG/OGV support, custom programming language, custom stylesheets and the like, but don't count that as coming very fast. After all, I have alot to practice/earn, first in Unity sadly. Especially as I should try F#, practice my C# & making a world with MegaOCEAN AI personalities before going down the rabbit hole towards custom hardware and custom first person software toy engines...
Also got many other cool things planned, prototypes, write-ups and asset packs. But I do take my time alot these days (mental health issues still being processed) and as far as I can tell, I am looking for a job too (my efforts are also for my creativity + developer portfolio, albeit I keep waiting for ideas to some... SQL video rental store database being one I haven't done anything much at all yet)

Sixteen to the power of Twelve / "16^12" / (expt 16 12), or the copyleft creative ecosystem I make
Tumblr media
You know this is 16^12 related, don't you? As I continue to revise my constructed world for a Nth overhaul, I thought it would be useful to share my methods, my tools and my workflow with you all...
It all starts with my Civilization 5 CE campaigns, and hopefully shall transition onto FreeCiv in due time.
Eventually I will reach a decent status, of which allows me to migrate away from Azgaar's Generators, as to initiate the hyper-modded FreeCiv+SC4+TS2 content threadmill and work onto the massive GPlates+QGIS time-scaled model. Still using LibreOffice and soon to be complemented by QOwnNotes, with the occasional Emacs + Vim usage. Also taking advantage of much libre software like Inkscape, GIMP, Blender, SweetHome3D, TiddlyWiki & Zim, as well as a "Lisp, LibreWWW, ActivityPub, MariaDB, lighttpd" stack to really push my creativity, technical skillfulness and mid-end 2014 PC's specifications in a GLOSS manner (Gratis, Libre, Open Source Software);
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway, I have a mutual who invented this new revision of a previously commissioned Shoshoni script for us. Aka @thecrazyneographist the nice & handsome. (Numerals are Base 24 by cycles of SubBase6 and the rest is as stated on the IPA + romanization chart...)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can't wait to communicate more often using my conlang with this, the Memrise courseware and the other relevant things... ^*^

Shoshone Hymns (0x10/?) - WIP mess
Tumblr media
Preface
Gonna recap on the whole project before I go forth with new articles, as to distill the "nucleus" of my speculative paracosm soon.
To include: Sensory details, "unique pitch selling points", unique cultural practices & traditions, linguistical differences, historical divergences, personalities & relationship dynamics, speculative evolution sapient species, history, lore, major events, myths, legends, technologies, magicks;
So, what really is this "16^12"?
It is a speculative campaign setting and desired reality "shifting framework" to immerse oneself onto as a long-term destination. Essentially a comfy yet nuanced realm with a vastly long diverging history & soft warm natural optimistic dark feel.

Showcasing pseudo-historical data in a GLOSS manner, stimulating imagination creativity & motivation among Zillenials, intrigue people into research deep dives on history, mostly for personal enjoyment & enhancing my multimedia skillset;

Asking for feedback around cultural norms for my brand and its worldbuilding
Tumblr media
Not my typical article type, but I wanna gather cultural feedback for Slavic, indigenous peoples & other foreign cultures beyond the typical "West" in order to get informed & avoid major para-social pitfalls.
Because as I am working on a personal brand (with much worldbuilding tied-in, which emulates history too) with cross-cultural international reach & empowerment intents, I find myself curious and excited to develop solutions far beyond the typical white nerd contemporary stereotype, including Russian diaspora, cis-gender women & indigenous peoples, among other ethnicities & minorities.
Yes, I do intend to claim a ".SU" domain for my brand (in context for 16^12, it does stand as the "Shoshone Union" domain, which lends itself well as a facsimile of the USSR's, to an limited extent); I simply hope to learn, iterate and adjust that site now to reflect the varied online spaces it aims for, including non-Western Civilization ones... rather than waiting only to deal with improper cultural appropriation & other para-social expectations. (Because making a logotype out of a Cyrillic letter only for such to be taboo for western audiences is also what I am getting at here. Based on a true story of mine)
It is also some measure to avoid insulting entire foreign communities out-of-the-blue. Because I would like to, through that sorta "peer-review" feedback stage, implement / adapt to varied audiences in a natural, humane & inclusive manner. So feel free to show me proper netiquette relevant to your corner of the world. (because while I hear Russians' have a strong software piracy & public demoscene/shareware "technical literacy" culture, I don't know the relevant specifics to my project in order to... feel legitimate / adapted / appropriate to their corner of the world)
Btw, feel free to add / append contextual cues & talk about more than your cultural norms in general as well, I am more than happy to learn more about others' in order to improve & enrich my worldbuilding beyond mere "Civilizations"...
Thank you for reading it all and see you all fairly soon!
(my main hashtags that are "Maskoch" & "Maskutchew" are also taken from native locality names of my hometown, just so you are made aware and suggest me formally proper corrections if & where needed)

Servitor computation system project? (Heavily WIP)
Tumblr media
Time to rise and shine amongst the crowd as a... creative developer I guess... And yeah, I will start with some C#/F# workflow for the time being but I will customize the full stack in due time.
Tasklist
Finish my instruction set for the architecture (get to the point between 64 & ~144 instructions)

Tbh, I do side mostly with Pflaumen hardware, Utalics software and GLOSS Foundation principles, albeit in my very own DIY manner. Hence my Solarpunk flavorings.
That being said, it is also derived from alternate renditions of our technological history (and quite a few alternate ones...), especially around DEC (Digital Equipment Corporation), Konrad Zuse AG & Symbolics (one among few Lisp Machine manufacturing departments). And it definitely pays off in feel.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
PREFACE
Derived from the previous posts on the 16^12 constructed universe, soon to append additional content derived from books I own... (Looking especially towards Mark Rosenfelder's works but got a bunch more useful ones that aren't of his hand)
Yet to refine a bunch of specific details to emulate, to avoid / differentiate, and correlating the whole mess with a bunch of additional sources, files and documents to reach a satisfactory conclusion to this article.
Some fundamental key parameters to remember
Reason: Worldbuilding for filling in the lore behind my art and also for manifestation purposes
Motivation: Mental health, wish-fulfillment, feelings of accomplishment, historical exploration, personal improvement at the craft, nuanced political advocacy?;
Genre: Alternate history / parallel universe, adventure/mystery, far future, medium magick / psionics users, adult audience (Millenials + Zillenials + Gen Z);
Scale: Planet (focus points, smallest scale?)
Mood: Noble [Grim to Noble agency scale], Neutral-Bright [Dark to Bright lively comfort scale]
Theme: Coming of Age [cycles of constructive renewal every so often] (storytelling motifs)

Historical equivalences & differences
Mersuit emulating the history of Sweden.
Shoshoni as something somewhat similar to a developed amerindian old westerns' United States of America...
Widespread appeal of Asetism (Monasteries, humility and introspection, likewise to Jains and Buddhists) & Taizhou (Tala-e-Fonua equivalent) as key major worldly religions
No Woodrow Wilson, progressive major successes in the 1910-1945 equivalent.
More long-term sustainable and successful generational pathway in the 1960s-2000 period, still leading to a slow partial ecological collapse like in the Incatena reality just about around the mid 2045-2050 period with signs of decay arising from the 2020s. So the sapient peoples are more cooperative and empowered with the people that era and won't see as much of the managerial crisis sparks until the mid-2020s.
The global pandemic hit during the early 2000s alongside the dawn of ecological issues coming ahead (giving a slight headstart to fully figure problems coming not that far ahead), just around the time of nanotech synthetic autonomous androids emergence and a handful of alternatively successful technical progressions making them a slight bit ahead of ours on a couple fields. No mainstream autonomous governance AI service grids or really crazy Sci-fi innovations just yet, but a fair share of orphaned developments we did not have continue in this world.
A couple of benevolent worker cooperatives like Pflaumen (DEC+ZuseKG), EBM (IBM+ICL) & Utalics (Symbolics+Commodore+GNU Foundation)... continue well into the 21st century and persist as major computation players in the tech industry, averting the immediate rise of Macroware (Microsoft), Avant (Google) & Maynote (Meta) by the ill-conceived social medium strategy.
[ More to be written... ]
POSTFACE
All may be subject to heavy changes still (but especially everything global map related), so take it with a large pinch of salt, please. Thanks for reading btw and farewell to soon!

Got good news and even better news.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As I am working on a couple game_system-agnostic modules (ruleset complements, campaign settings, adventure scenarios, et cetera), I took time to learn and draw a couple of printable files for you all to enjoy for TTRPG purposes as by connecting the dots between FKR, OSR, d20, 5E, PF2E, GURPS, CyberpunkRED, Stellaris, SC4, TS2, FreeCiv, Civilization 5 CE... You get the idea.
Generated first with the help of a Mathpolate draft and then re-drew it with Inkscape to make sure it met my specifications.
(So that was the good news, aka brand new US Letter-sized blank grids for TTRPGs)
Tumblr media
The better news... I forgot what the previous better news was, however I had a great & brand new dream to add into the collection of them that I had in the last few weeks. This one felt super validating and supportive with a sort of grandiose psychic narration and a supportive voice at what I felt need for really. Even saw a fast reflection of my near future self in a cyberpunk theme and got a glimpse at some far future projections as to why they chose to project so far into the past. Great material for life and my storyline(s) really. 🙂

Short sum for newbie system designer processor steps
Tumblr media
Here are a few beginner projects for learning the ropes of customized computation architecture design:
Pana, a '4-4-4' instruction processor derived from Intersil 6100 & GaryExplains' but for 4-bit data. Uses the sixteen (16) RISC instructions shown by GaryExplains and only four (4) of its registers (ACC, PC, LN & MQ) as per of the Intersil 6100 specification. Doing as much work onto nibbles like an MVP Intel 4004 can, great as a BCD & Nibble data converter for later designs.
Tina, a barely expanded '4-4-8' processor derived from the "Pana" design, it uses more registers by adding twelve general-use registers (A-F, U-Z letters) and operate onto a single byte of data at a time. Great for two nibbles operations, byte-wise interoperability and 8-bit word compatibility with all sorts of modern processors from the seventies-onwards.
Milan, a '6-2-24' strong hybrid 8-bit / 12-bit processor derived from the "Tina" design, operating onto three bytes or two tribbles of data at once depending of use-case, while fitting in exactly 32-bit per instruction. Aimed at computing three 8-bit units, enabling 16-bit & 24-bit compatibility as well as up to two tribble operands. A great MVP implementation step towards my next own tribble computing architecture and a competitor to the Jack educational computer as shown in the NAND2Tetris courseware book.
When I am done with such, I will be onto three tribble-oriented architectures for lower-end, middle-end and upper-end "markets". Zara being lower-end (6-bit opcode, 6-bit register & 36-bit data = 48-bit instructions), Zorua being mid-end (8-bit opcode, 8-bit register and 48-bit data = 64-bit instructions) and Zoroark being upper-end (12-bit opcode, 36-bit register and 96/144-bit data (so either eight or twelve tribble operands worth of data) = 144/192-bit instructions, aiming to emulate close enough to an open-source IBM's PowerISA clone with VLIW & hot-swap computer architecture).
By the way, I haven't forgotten about the 16^12 Utalics game consoles and overall tech market overview + history specifications, nor have I forgotten about studying + importing + tinkering around things like Microdot & Gentoo & Tilck. I simply need to keep a reminder to myself for what to do first when I shall start with the computation engineering process. Hopefully that might be interesting for you to consider as well... Farewell!
EDIT #1
youtube
Tweaked and added some additional text & considering studying various aspects of Linux and overall copyleft / open source culture engineering scene, especially over Gentoo alternative kernels & hobby / homebrew standalone operating systems (GNU Hurd, OpenIndiana, Haiku... as well as niche ones like ZealOS, Parade, SerenityOS...) as to design a couple computation ecosystems (most derived from my constructed world which takes many hints from our real-life history) and choosing one among them to focus my implementation efforts onto as the "Nucleus" hybrid modular exo-kernel + my very own package modules collection. (Still aiming to be somewhat compatible with existing software following Unix philosophy principles too as to ease the developer learning cost in initial infrastructure compatibility & overall modularized complexity; Might also use some manifestation tips & games to enrich it with imports from said constructed world if possible)

Czarina-VM, study of Microsoft tech stack history. Preview 1
Tumblr media
Write down study notes about the evolution of MS-DOS, QuickBASIC (from IBM Cassette BASIC to the last officially Microsoft QBasic or some early Visual Basic), "Batch" Command-Prompt, PowerShell, Windows editions pathing from "2.11 for 386" to Windows "ME" (upgraded from a "98 SE" build though) with Windows "3.11 for Workgroups" and the other 9X ones in-between, Xenix, Microsoft Bob with Great Greetings expansion, a personalized mockup Win8 TUI animated flex box panel board and other historical (or relatively historical, with a few ground-realism & critical takes along the way) Microsoft matters here and a couple development demos + big tech opinions about Microsoft too along that studious pathway.
( Also, don't forget to link down the interactive-use sessions with 86box, DOSbox X & VirtualBox/VMware as video when it is indeed ready )
Tumblr media
Yay for the four large tags below, and farewell.

Pseudo-historical project about 1912 unit record equipment computation aka the "Symbolic Analyst Processor" full stack!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(above pictures emulate the looks of what this tech stack documentation and actual use may look like, still very early in the process though)
It is still coming together by my head as I write infodump notes and research various aspects of the whole time, (including the WIMP & MERN/MEAN stack) but yk, things are coming together nicely to give some milestone project mid-way between my current phase in life and the next where I go develop a fully alternative INTJ lively stack of tools. Explanations, history dives, lively reaction studies and a couple more content suggestions related to it are on the way.
Behold, the infodumps
"Top-bottom and back up workflow" 1910 / 1912 Unit Record Equipment Tabulator Computation "Bundle" Project (Pflaumen & Utalics' SymbolicAnalystProcessor)
Information Processing Language / LISP 1.5 / Bel, A-BASIC / DIBOL, Spreadsheets, Cellular Automaton, COS-310, magnetic tape storage too, TECO / VIM, Assembly, Wirebox, Tabulator, Alphanumeric Interpreter, Printer, RTTY device, Data Recording, Bulk Data Processing Indexed Cards, 60-64 entries Deque, 4K Direct-use RAM, 12K * 24 storage devices, Phonebook, Timeclock, DateTime Calendar, Programmable, Statistics, Demographics, Voting, Ledger, Journal, Logging, Rolodex, 12 Generic-use Registers & 4 Special Registers, Catalog, ~16 Keys Pad, Customized Hexadecimal Numeric Representation for "MachineCode" Hexdumps, 4*12 bits per page of data, Macros, Paracosm, may be useful for Military & Civilian Uses, Electrical Energy (and possibly incorporates some mechanical energy too), Nouns & Verbs, "Vector" XY plotter, Lambda Calculus / Panini Grammar / Universal Turing Machine Thesis, Rotors, Ural TriodeVaccumTube "Mainframe", Interactive-Use, Hypertext Interactive Video Terminal, Memex, Modem, Electric + Radio Telegraphy, Document-processing, Word-processing, Orange Plasma Touchscreen Terminal, Time-sharing, Cash Register, Bank, Automatic Teller Machine, Vending Machine, Oracle, Typewriter / Selectric, IBM 701, IBM 1440, IBM 403, IBM System/360, OpenPOWER, F#, IBM Tellum, MUD, TextWorld, solo text-adventures, Email, AIX, z/OS, Linux for IBM mainframes, Symbolic Processing System, Autocoder, modular, IBM Lotus Suite, interface with KDE or CDE, paper handling equipment, Addventure, 12-bit basic data unit as designated word, Distributed Interactive System, VeneraFS (cladogram Parade+DolDoc), GNU Hurd / MINIX3-style Microkernel, either permissive FLOSS license or public domain waiver, extensive documentation, printed illustrated booklets, music-playback, emulator / compiler / bytecode / interpreter, analog media-friendly, mostly for didactic tinkering educational uses, multilingual reconfigurable programming, HTML+CSS, Markdown, Argdown, DMA, hardware-friendly, software development environment for direct-access programmers and aesthetic designers, sub-version control system like Git, various hardware & software implementations, museum / observatory Toymaker story, constructed languages / imaginative paracosm influences around the immersive in-world lore of the "16^12" pseudo-historical setting…
Back to the point
The list is far from exhaustive or finished, as life is so much more than meets the eye. But this should be a good start to remind myself what I am working towards, a full revamp of the last ~120 years of history with much attention and care put into making it as satisfying to me as possible, despite the very probable scenario where people take the ideas and incorporate only some of such "modules" in their own workflows. Which is fine but not taking the whole package (and only specific modules) is eventually gonna be a major learning experience for me considering the reason I revamp it all beyond control freak stuff is literally to provide less exclusive / less invasive tools that anyone can learn and customize despite being very... idiosyncratic yk.
Still welcoming suggestions and constructive criticism for such big time, I hope those textual infodumps I do every so often don't bother you too much... Cya soon!

I fear sleep tonight so I plan a computation game engine?
Tumblr media
Long story cut short, I have recurring nightmares as of the last few nights and get very (innerly) mad at some people in my household for irresponsible behaviors & patterns that trigger that situation in the first place. Very unpleasant.
So instead of being a jerk, I am taking that frustration of the last week and putting it into something more productive. Aka preparing the work for a game engine workflow similar somewhat chronologically from a 2D TEXTMODE tilemap game (think around SG-1000 specifications) and then extruding / developing my own ways towards a customized contemporary mashup between BUILD2 & Qodot. (With a first person dungeon "Gridder" game in-between amongst other things in relative order)
Still gonna make a quick few demo levels in Unity solely for taking advantage of the 'Pixel Crushers' packages in order to then emulate such into Godot / whatever custom engine I go forward to. But it is not the main priority, as really I want to learn how to make much bottom-up and derive my very own workflow into a new "territory" / ecological niche.
Mosi (TEXTMODE) -> Unity (TILEMAP) -> Maze Wars-like (Futuristic Gridder) -> Raycaster (Rise of Triad / OpenAleph) -> DOOM-clone (Xngine TheElderScrolls Daggerfall) -> EDUKE32-tier (Blood) -> Quake 1 (Ironwail sourceport) -> Quake 2 [...] -> Red Eclipse (Tesseract / Lobster)
I have yet to design specific aesthetic assets, themes, mechanics, level modules, layouts and a couple more things but hopefully I get the studying and iterating going as to reach that level of great versatile optimal toybox editor tools but yk, that's a decent starting point. But I am most likely gonna emulate "Red Eclipse" / "Quake 1" mechanically with a very... soft warm NPR aesthetic and a handful of content editing arrangements along the way. Definitely taking hints from existing tutorials I curate and gonna expand onto my own specifications for a truly empowering experience for dirt-cheap hardware.
