One night to pray.
To recite Quran.
To supplicate.
But why?
Death is inevitable and what is more honorable then dying for Tawheed. To defend Tawheed Imam Hussain (as) requested to have the battle postponed on the day break.
I wonder why he did so. There must be many reasons because I am not too pious or well learned to understand the mashiyat e Imam or hikmat e Imam but what my heart answers is as follows.
- One night to pray because he is yet to test the loyalty of his companions and let the world know that the people who had agreed to kill him were aloof from the knowledge of two main components left by Huzoor (saww): Quran and Itrat. Now since there are certain scholars who support Quran and Hadith then if we take this as reference still it is as clear as beacon that the people who gathered to kill Imam Hussain (as) had nothing to do with Hadith and both Quran and Hadith were just tools to advance their personal and political gains.
As per the Hadith about the recitation and merits of recitation of Al Quran Huzoor (saww) says, "There are two types of Qaris (reciters) of Quran. One are the ones who when open Quran to read Quran sends blessings and salutation on them and when they recite Quran reaches their heart! Others are the ones that when they open Quran to recite, the Quran makes itself aloof from them (their spirit) and does not send blessing or salutation on them, rather sends curses. These are the people who recite Quran but the Quran never reaches their heart and soul and stays only on their tongue."
Two points in this hadith. Al Quran is shifa and the access of this shifa is not to everyone. So, the question comes who gets salutation from the Quran and who gets curses?
Well, see the night time requested by Imam Hussain (as) to supplicate, pray, and recite Quran. The narrator from opposition reports that the Hussaini camps were humming in the depth of the night of ninth muharram and when one went close to hear the humming was recitation and qirat. While, it is also reported that the majority in the yazidi forces were Qaris and Hafiz e Quran who were making their swords sharp for the next day butchery. One night span to further clarify the Hadith that Quran sends salutations on the reciter who recognizes the merits of risalat and the holy progeny and respects them. While those who receive curses from Quran are the ones reflecting yazidis. They can be Hafiz but be the fuel of hell fire because their heart does not tremble while conducting oppression or injustice. That point is so self explanatory that I am going to leave it there.
- Postponing battle on the day break so that the future supporting historians of yazidis should not dare say that in the night time they did barbarism and excessive mutilation of the grandson of Rasool Allah (saww) in state of confusion because they attacked wherever they deemed due to the darkness. No. Each and every wound inflicted on ABA Abdillah (as) and his companions and children was consciously chosen and planned. There was no confusion. There were sentences such as this statement from Umar Ibn e Sad, " Bear witness that I am trampling the body of Hussain (as). Bear witness and tell Ameer so that he be pleased and fulfills his promise to me."
Therefore, each disrespect was an act of hatred and vengeance done to pleas Yazid and Ibn e Ziyad and to collect bounties from them. The battle happened in day time so none shall accuse thst this battle was just a conflict. It was a planned genocide and an act of tyranny towards the Hashimis and children of Rasool (saww). In day light they saw who came for the one on one duel and they miscomitted and collectively gathered to kill then torture then kill then mutilate the progeny of Rasool Kareem (saww).

I wrote: my father's wishes to be martyred. I wish my brother who is not born yet to be martyred when he grows up.
Sweet you.
Every year visit Karbala.
Your brother isn't born yet and you wish him to be martyred?
No, when he grows up.
When he grows up.
No, I was just kidding. Great job raising her, because it isn't easy.
Thank you.
So you want your father to be martyred?
Yes.
Father and brother to be martyred?
Yeah.
You also wish to be martyred?
Yes.
Great job, truly.
==
This is what we're dealing with. They're not like us. They don't value their own lives or even their children's. They want to die murdering as many kufr, and particularly Jews, as possible.
If you're shocked by this, I really don't know why. This is all over Gaza, and ex-Muslims have been talking about it for years.
This is why I keep saying that Islam isn't "just like every religion." Xians want to die and go to heaven, but they're looking to live long enough to see the Rapture, and they're not looking to take out as many non-Xians as possible in the process.
Believe them when they tell you what they're up to.

زيارة عاشوراء 🌿🕊
Ziarat e Ashura is attributed to Imam Muhammad Al-Baqir ع who was 4 or 5 years old during the tragedy of Karbala. Imam Baqir ع transmitted this to all the Shia. Ziarat e Ashura bears such superiority and importance that no other Ziarat contain.
Imam Jaffar Al-Sadiq ع about Ziarat e Ashura said to one of his follower:
"O' Safwaan, when you're confronted with some adversity, then seek redressal of your grievances from Imam Hussain ع through the Amaal of Ashoora, Allah has pledged the fulfilment of demands
With this Ziarat and Allah never reneges on his words."
Ref: Miracles of Ziarat e Ashura
In Ziarat e Ashura we send blessings upon AhlulBayt ع and martyrs of Karbala. There's curse upon the enemies of AhlulBayt ع، upon those who attacked Imam Hussain ع
His children and companion in karbala, upon those who killed Imam Hussain ع , upon those who helped and supported the killers of Imam Hussain ع.
It has been told in Ziarat e Ashura that the pain and sorrow Imam Hussain ع and his household gone through was unbearable And excruciating.
There's no hardship in the world no matter how severe it is, it can be resolved by reciting Ziarat e Ashura. If you feel anxiety or your heart feels restless just recite Ziarat e Ashura and you'll feel divine peace.
Martyr Ayatollah Dastgaib Sherazi narrates from Ayatollah Shiekh Abdul Kareem Hayeri, that he was in Samarr'a for his studies and that time the city of Samarr'a was attacked by a deadly disease called Plague. Dozens of people were losing their lives on daily basis,
One night, a meeting was called at the house of Ayatollah's teacher, Syed Muhammad Fesharki, and there Mirza Taqi was also present. The talk was turned on the plague. Mirza Taqi said, "What if I suggest something that people will follow?" Everyone agreed to him. He suggested reciting Ziarat e ashura for the next few days and giving the reward to Lady Nargis, mother of Imam Mahdi عج. The news was spread in the city like fire, and people started to recite Ziarat e Ashura. It was noticed that not a single death was reported after that.
That's the miracle of Ziarat e Ashura.
Ayatollah Taqi Bahjat said :
"The existence of Ziarat e Ashura in itself is a proof of its miraculous nature."
Imam Jaffar Al-Sadiq ع said :
"I guarantee a few things who recite Ziarat e ashura
His Ziarat will be accepted
His actions will be considered virtuous, his salam will reach Imam and Allah will never return him back dejected."Haaj Mullah Hassan who was caretaker of Imam Ali's ع shrine narrates from Haaj Muhammad Ali who was very pious person and used to live in Yazd. He had a neighbor who was his good friend, both of them had grown up and studied together, later that friend started buisness of Tax collection. Few years later this friend died and was buried in the Mazaar where Haj Muhamad used to spend his night worshipping. After one month of friend's demise Haaj Muhamad saw him in dream where he was looking so handsome and smart.
Haaj Muhamad Ali asked him "I very well know the kind of buisness you were involved in. There was nothing in that work that would merits this great reward that you've received. Infact nothing except punishment could be expected from the kind of work you used to do.Then how did you received this great position and reward?"
The friend replied
"You're right, infact from the time I died till yesterday I was involved in a painful chastisement. But yesterday wife of Ashraf Haddad died and was buried few meters away from here Last night Imam Hussain ع came to visit her thrice and on the third visit Imam ع ordered that the punishment from the entire graveyard be removed. Hence now you see me in ease and comfort."When Haaj Muhamad Ali got up he did not know who Ashraf Haddad was so he went to iron market immediately and inquired about Haddad and reached his house. Haaj Muhamad asked Haddad
"Did you have a wife? "
He replied
"Yes she died yesterday and I buried her so, so place." Haaj Muhamad asked him
"Had you gone for Ziarat e Imam Hussain ع?"
He replied
"No, but why are you asking this?"
Haaj Muhamad narrated his whole dream and after hearing the entire dream
Ashraf Haddad said "My wife was very particular and regular in reciting Ziarat e Ashura."
We Shia are blessed wallah to have a divine treasure of Ziarat e Ashura.
-Syeda Fatimah Huda..

Lessons of Karbala, and how Muharram is more than just blood and mourning!
1. Be righteous, even if you are alone. Standing up for what is right is important, even if you have to face death with certainty. It is important for the greater good. This is the only way to defeat injustice. (Labaik Ya Hussain RA/AS)
2. Be just. Don't be selective when speaking up against tyranny. It does not matter if the oppressed person is not related to you. Similarly, it doesn't matter if the oppressor is related to you. You have to stand up for what is right. Alone Hussain (R.A) looked to the heavens on Ashura and said:
"Ya Allah! what makes it easier for me is the fact that you're watching."
3. Be kind, even to your enemies. Hur was the General of the enemy army. He and his group of soldiers had run out of water while on their way to intercept Hussain (RA). Hussain (AS) served them with water despite his limited stock.
4. Be patient. The overall goal is more important than your personal feelings. Abbas (RA), the brave son of Ali (RA) and the younger brother of Hussain (RA), was a famous warrior of his time. He drove fear into the very souls of his enemies. Yet, he kept quiet in the face of many provocations as commanded by his elder brother, Hussain (AS).
5. Be brave even when you have lost everything. Zainab (RA), the brave daughter of Ali (AS) and the sister of Hussain (AS), was taken as prisoner after seeing her family being massacred - her loving brothers, her nephews, and her own two sons. All were killed in one day, yet, she didn't lose focus of the goal of her brother. Tied up in ropes, she fearlessly spoke against the tyrant ruler right in his durbar/courtyard.
6. Hussain(RA) is for all. Message of Karbala is vivid and clear that it was not meant to grab a patch of land, rather it was intended to secure and uphold core human values. It was a battle between good and evil, right and wrong and justice and oppression.
7. It’s never too late to repent. One of the heroes of Karbala that met his martyrdom is known as Hurr (which means free). He was one of the commanders of the opposing army. It was only in the final few hours before the battle that he switched sides to the army of Hussain and to certain worldly doom, asking the repentance of Hussain for his actions. He was one of the first people to be martyred by the army of Yazid. The story of Hurr is proof that it is never too late to repent, and no sin is too heavy to come back from. Hussain (RA) said to Hurr after he repented: “surely you are free as your mother had named you.”
8. Live the Life of a Freeman. Imam Hussain (RA) believed that living under a tyranny was nothing but living in hell. In Karbala, when Imam Hussain (AS) was placed in a dilemma by the oppressors to be humiliated by swearing allegiance to Yazid or to fight and die with glory, he said he would not accept humiliation and obedience to mean people. Hussain (RA) invites the whole world to reject submission to oppression; to practice freedom.
9. Loyalty. We see, on the day of Ashura, after Abbas (RA)’s right hand was cut off by the army of Yazid –when he had gone to get some water for the children and women- he bravely recited these epic verses: “By Allah, if you cut my right hand, I will never stand back, and I will protect my religion, and I will support the Imam who stands firm in his belief and is the grandson of the pure and truthful Prophet.
10. Significance of Salah. In the midst of the battle of Karbala, Imam Hussain RA never forgot the importance of Salah. When it was time for Zuhr, Imam Hussain along with his companions stopped to pray even with Yazid’s army constantly shooting arrows towards them. The importance that Imam Hussain gave to Salah is a prompt for us to always prioritise Salah wherever we are and whatever we are doing.

Chronology of the Events of Ashura
The Battle of Karbala took place on 10th of October, 680 CE.
Fajr sets in at 5:47am in Karbala, and the army of Imam Husayn (a) prayed behind him. After their prayers, Imam Husayn (a) gave a sermon for his companions. He invited them towards patience and struggle, and then recited the following prayer: "O God, You are my trustee amidst all calamities and my hope in all my afflictions. You alone are my remedy and resort in all my affairs…"
Shortly after sunrise, Imam Husayn (a) mounted his camel so that he could be in view of all. He went towards the army of his enemies to remind them of the merit and status of the Ahlulbayt (a). He also reminded these Kufans of their letters, in which they had promised to stand by him. They lie and deny sending such letters, to which Imam Husayn threw their letters towards them, and thanked God for establishing proof upon them.
Aound 8am, some companions gave similar sermons, calling people to the Truth. Imam Husayn (a) called out, "Is there anyone to help me?" Some soldiers of the enemy were shaken, particularly Hurr, who realised his grievous mistake, and joined Imam Husayn after repenting.
Around 9am, Shimr asks Umar b. Sa'd why the battle is being delayed. They decide to begin, and Umar b. Sa'd shoots the first arrow towards the army of Husayn (a). The Imam turned to his companions and said, "Be prepared for death."
After the initial attack, around 10am, the enemies began to attack collectively. A contingent attacked the right flank of the Imam's army led by Habib b. Mazahir, but they stood their ground firmly. At the same time, Shimr attacked the left flank of the army led by Zuhayr b. Qayn.
After their two battalions are pushed back, Umar b. Sa'd ordered 500 bowmen to shoot arrows at the army of the Imam (a). Several companions of the Imam were killed in this attack.
A group of men from the army of Shimr then attempted to attack from behind, where the companions of the Imam had dug a trench. The trench was set on fire.
After these attacks, around 11am, the Imam (a) asked his companions to fight in single combat. The companions do not let anyone from Bani Hashim go towards the battlefield while they are still alive, eager to protect them until their last breath.
The time of dhuhr prayer was about to set in, and the Imam asked his companions to ask Ibn Sa'd to pause the battle for prayer. One of the enemies said, "Your prayers are not accepted" and Habib responds "You think your prayers are accepted while the prayers of the grandson of the Holy Prophet (s) are not?!" Thus Habib goes forth to fight, and is martyred. It was at this point of the battle that Imam Husayn shed his first tears.
The Imam and his companions prayed. Some companions joined in congregation, while others protected them. Zuhayr b. Qayn and Sa'eed b. Abdullah guarded the Imam from arrows. Sa'eed was struck with 13 arrows defending the Imam in prayer, and was martyred.
By the end of their prayers, 30 companions were martyred, including Zuhayr and Hurr. At this point, the Bani Hashim joined the battle. The first to come to the battlefield was Ali al-Akbar, the son of Imam Husayn.
By 2pm, 28 members of Bani Hashim were killed. Only Imam Husayn (a) and his brother, Abbas remained. Abbas (a) requested permission to go to the battlefield, but the Imam instead asked him to get water for the women and children. While Abbas was on his quest to secure water, both his arms were cut off and he was attacked with a spear until he fell on the ground. This was the second occasion in which Imam Husayn (a) shed tears on the day of Ashura. He cried out, "Now my back has been broken"
Around 3pm, Imam Husayn (a) returned to the tents to bid his family farewell. While bidding farewell, he took his 6 month old baby, Ali Asghar, out of the tents, to plead to the humanity of his enemies to give him water for this baby. Instead, Harmala shot an arrow piercing the baby's neck, killing Ali Asghar.
The Imam returned to the battlefield to fight. Initially, few dared to fight him, and would only shoot arrows from afar or throw their spears towards him. Once Imam Husayn (a) was eventually struck down from his horse, it is reported he had incurred 33 injuries from spears and 34 injuries due to swords on his body.
When Imam Husayn (a) was in his last moments, no one dared to come towards him to finish him off. The horse of the Imam went towards the tents, and the women and children realised that the Imam's martyrdom had arrived. Imam Hasan's (a) young child, Abdullah b. al-Hasan, ran towards his uncle to help him, and Zaynab ran to try and bring him back, but the enemies killed him while he was in the lap of Imam Husayn (a).
According to reports, Imam Husayn (a) was martyred at the time of Asr, at approximately 4:06pm. It was at this time that Sinan b. Anas attacked the Imam to behead him. Other reports mention it was Shimr who beheaded the Imam.
After the martyrdom, around 5pm, the people began to loot and plunder his body. The army also looted the possessions of his martyred companions and family.
It was close to sunset when the head of Imam Husayn (a) was given to Khuli so that he could take it to Ibn Ziyad. Umar b. Sa'd then ordered his soldiers to trample the bodies of the Imam and his companions with horses.
The sorrowful day of Ashura ends with Umar b. Sa'd holding Maghrib prayers at 6:49pm. Sinan bin Anas started reciting poetry alluding to him being rewarded with gold, for he was able to kill the "best of men." The women and children are taken captive and their journey to Kufa begins the next day.

Sayeda (sa) and Sakina (sa)
Tumblr media
There are a number of similarities between Lady Sayeda (sa) and her grand daughter, the toddler Sakina (sa). Their hearts beat for Imam Hussain (as). Bibi Sayeda (sa) loved both her sons. Her attachment with Imam Hussain (as) was extra ordinary. So much so that on her death bed she asked Imam Ali (as) to take care of all her children and also requested to be extra attentive towards Imam Hussain (as). She and her father the messenger of Allah (saww) did not bear to see Imam Hussain (as) cry. Bibi Sakina (sa) had similar attachment with Imam Hussain (as) who was her father. She would become restless if she did not find him close or a longer span of time had passed in the day where she did not hear his voice. Especially noticeable is the fact that she slept on the chest of her father that is she slept to the sound of his heart beat.
It is as if to say that she was accustom to the qalb of Imam Hussain (as) in similar fashion as was Rasool Allah (saww) or Bibi Sayeda (sa). Therefore, in one Book about this toddler of Imam Hussain (as), it is written that when bibi Sakina (sa) witnessed the beheading of her father she witnessed it as if from the eyes of Rasool (saww) and the heart of Sayeda (sa). Therefore, entailed a deep and sorrowful lamenting and wailing, constant yearning and restlessness until she was martyred. Crying is another similarity between the grandmother and the granddaughter. Both cried for the same reasons stated below:
- while it is superficially told that Bibi (sa) cried because of the demise of the Prophet (saww) deeper reasons are ignored or hidden purposefully. The books reflect and state that she cried to awaken the sleeping souls of the people of Medina and identify the injustice inflicted upon her father by the people who sabotaged religion and everything about Huzoor (saww) during his life. How her father was martyred and how the principles of Allah were being trampled mercilessly and fearlessly by the transgressors. While the crying of Lady Sayeda (sa) was on the sorrowful beginning of trampling of faith and teachings of Rasool (saww), the crying of Sakina (sa) was on the severity and gravity of this cancer that was rotting the foundations of Islam and much more. Bibi Sayeda (sa) cried so that people of Medina did not forget that the messenger from Allah had just been between them and soon after they had done worst of injustice and denied the rights and merits of his progeny. Bibi Sakina (sa) cried to let people know that her father was not the uprising to tople the govt as the then yazidi forces were propogating this misconception. She told people of how the grandson of Rasool (saww) was butchered with no reason and her wails unmasked soon the manipulation of the drunk on power caliphate of Yazid and it's money puppets mullas who issued fatwas allowing the killing of the innocent grandson of the Prophet (saww).
Both the grandmother and the granddaughter are revolutionary and ignite a storm of truth, unmasking the hidden agendas of perpetrators who acted as the forces to dilute religion, dismantle tauheed, and disrespect the divinity of Wilayat. Therefore, ummat decided to oppress both in similar way. Crying was banned for both. It is said the the first Caliph issued orders to tell Sayeda (sa) to cry quietly and at the time of night so that none could hear her wails as her crying (as per him) was disturbing the peace of Medina. While, bibi Sakina (sa) was a toddler so she was slapped and tormented to hush her sobs. Bibi Sayeda (sa) was martyred and died with broken ribs. Bibi Sakina (sa) was martyred and died with a broken heart. Literally, a four year old toddler had heart attack because of grief!
Muslims ... Should reflect deeply upon this.

On this day in 61 H, Husayn (may God be pleased with him), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ along with many members of the Prophet's family were martyred at Karbala.
Husayn was named by the Prophet himself and was especially beloved to him.
We remember Imam Husayn's sacrifice, and his faithfulness to the Prophetic way, even in the face of all odds.

4th Moharram is associated with the two brave kids of Karbala. 'Aun and Mohammad (as)'.
Hazrat Aun (as) and Hazrat Mohammad (as) were the beloved sons of Lady Zaynab (sa) and Janab e Abdullah ibn e Jafar e Tayar (ra).
They inherited bravery from their grandfathers; Ali (as) and Jafar e Tayar (ra), and their parents brought them up in a way that their hearts were filled with the love of their Imam (as) and wanted to sacrifice themselves for the love of Allah (aj).
Imam Hussain (as) weren't allowing his little nephews for the battlefield. After failing in getting permission from their Uncle, they both went to their mother (Zaynab (sa)) and asked her to beseech in front of Imam. Bibi Zaynab (sa) took her sons to her brother and got succeeded to send her kids to the battlefield.
Bibi advised her sons,
'No matter what, do not drink water even if you get to the bank of Furaat and I'll be happy if you both behead Umar e Saad'.
Hazrat Aun and Mohammad attacked the army of Yazeed with bravery, yazeedis were astonished to see such brave children who almost got into the tent of Umar e Saad.
Seeing the situation getting out of their hands they all attacked the kids together.
The kids fell down and called their mother for help. Imam Hussain (as) along with Mola Abbas (as) and Hazrat Ali Akbar (as) went to take his nephews.
When Imam reached, one of the kids was alive and said heart wrenching words to Imam.
' Uncle Hussain, please tell our mother that we did not drink water and were almost about to kill Umar but couldn't do so because they were a lot and we were just two.' and then he too got martyred.
Karbala is not just a name of war but, an ocean that carries waves of love, compassion, spirit, valour, obedience of one's Imam at every step.
