Sempaya hot springs are one of the famous attractions located in #SemulikiNationalPark (birders haven) in the western arm of the East African Rift Valley.

They are two hot springs (male and female) and the female hot spring boils at a temperature of 103 degrees Celsius. The Sempaya female hot spring has a lot of cultural to the ‘Bahama’ clan who live near the park, they believed gods are female and annually hold celebrations to appease them and also believed that their female ancestors lived around the female hot spring which made them to allow the female partners to carry out worship and offertory accompanied with sacrifices of different nature ranging from animals drinks and food crops etc with the belief that barren women will get fertile and deliver so women would come and visit the area in seek for fertility so as to bear children.

Currently, egg 🥚 boiling is the major activity taking place at the female hot spring with visitors dropping their eggs into boiling waters of the hot spring and it takes roughly from 5 to 10 mins to get ready.
