Sonic Ring Bond: The Journey - Scene 7
And the longest scene to date since the prologue, and it actually sets up a villain for the series moving forward. Well, one of many planned villains, but they are the first. They also are not an original character, but another repurposed game character. I'm really curious though how many people will recognize them though. Well, best way to find out is to let everyone get to reading...

“Right, Rosy-lass, then this is your lad, is he? He doesn’t look all that impressive to me.”
The voice that croaked out and pulled Sonic’s consciousness back was not familiar, but something about the way he spoke felt demeaning and Sonic forced an eye open. He was still floating in the water, but he no longer seemed to be in the massive basin and labyrinth of water channels. The corridor he was floating down was much humbler in a way, and even the ancient brickwork could be made out in the water-carried light. The lanky frog who grabbed his wrist and pulled him from the water was also clearly visible. Rosy was not, though Sonic would recognize her voice anywhere and smiled to himself as neither the frog nor Rosy seemed to realize he was awake yet.
“Well, water is kind of Sonic’s big weakness. I’ve been trying to help him with it, but he’s just so stubborn about it.’’
“You’re one to talk kid,” Sonic revealed his conscious state with a jab at Rosy. It did not net him the result he was expecting though and Rosy embraced him in a fierce bearhug as he still was supported by the frog.
“Sonic! I’m so glad we caught up with you!”
    “Grk! Amy, can’t breathe!”
“Amy?” the frog queried with a peering glance at Rosy.
“Oh, don’t mind that Gill. It’s just my regular old plain name. Rosy is my adventurer name and I much rather prefer it, but Sonic just refuses to use it.” Turning a pouty scowl onto Sonic, the pink hedgehog received an awkward smile in return, at least for a moment as Sonic turned to business. In a way.
“Only you though kid,” he began with a jest as Rosy let him go and stepped back. “In the middle of nowhere and in a hidden underground ruin at that you find someone to make friends with. I think I might actually be impressed this time though.”
“Hee-hee,” Rosy giggled and hid her mouth behind a hand as she swayed back and forth. “It would have been nice if Gill and I had met at a slightly better time.”
“Gill, huh…?” Sonic turned a sidelong look toward the frog as he stepped away from him.
“Mach Frog Gill Bradley,” Gill corrected Sonic and managed to earn Rosy’s playful ire.
“Hey, you didn’t give your full name either so you can’t be mad at me!”
“Well, Rosy-lass, I use my name carefully as I have enemies and friends and they use them differently.”
“Is that so?” Sonic queried and rubbed his nose. Before giving Gill the chance to answer however he extended his other hand in greeting and smirked. “Well nice to meet you Mach. Name’s Sonic. Sonic the Hedgehog.”
Gill was taken aback at Sonic’s brazenness, or at least that is how it appeared to Rosy who failed to understand the smile the frog donned. “Mach is it now. I must say Rosy-lass, I like your lad a fair bit here.”
Sonic smirked again as Gill took his hand and the two shared a firm handshake. Continuing to rub his nose, Sonic shifted to a different question. “And what’s the deal with calling me the kid’s lad?”
“Well, the lass called you her ‘boyfriend’ so that rightfully makes you her lad.”
“You told him what!” Sonic spun on the spot to throw an incredulous look at Rosy who simply giggled and swayed her body about.
“Aw, come on Sonic, I was just having a little bit of fun. Besides, we’re destined lovers after all, so what’s the big deal?”
“The big deal is that I make my own destiny, and my reputation is going to get all messed up if people go around thinking we’re a thing.”
“Well, it looks like it to me lad.”
“You see my point kid?” Sonic groaned as Gill seemed fully convinced that he and Rosy were an actual couple. Not even bothering to wait for an answer though Sonic raised a hand and began walking off. “But whatever. Now that you and I know the other’s alright let’s put this place behind us. And I guess your friend can follow if he doesn’t slow me down.”
“Is that a challenge now lad? Mach Frog Gill Bradley doesn’t often back down from a challenge.”
“Boys!” Rosy shouted exasperated at them both. “We aren’t done yet. Did you forget Sonic? We still need to find an Ancient Ring and I know for a fact that there is one down here.”
Holding up a tarot card Rosy revealed to Gill that she had been dowsing for more than just Sonic who realized that she had yet to give up. In a match of pure stubbornness though he was no match for Rosy and even Gill could not escape. Soon the labyrinth and army of golems led the three to a flower garden adorned with ancient statues with features long lost to time. All except one which rested a short way from the center of a massive overgrown plaza. Before it was a plaque with script similar to what Sonic and Rosy had seen before, and more importantly a single Ring spinning on its axis just above the ground and in the statue’s direct line of sight.
“Well, ain’t this an unusual sight?” Gill probed for a reaction as he strolled alongside Sonic and Rosy into the plaza. That they had slowed down told him that the sight before him was likely a trap and was surprised when he saw Rosy skip out and start looking around. “Now wait a right minute Rosy-lass–”
“I would leave her too it,” Sonic put a hand on Gill’s shoulder to calm the frog down. “From what I know she used to do this thing all the time before we met. And she’s got intuition like you wouldn’t believe.”
“A lass’ intuition is it then.”
“Call it my girlish intuition,” Rosy called back into the conversation about her with a laugh. The two boys exchanged looks and a shrug but did not speak up allowing Rosy to continue as she waved them over. “And it’s safe. It’s really weird actually. There aren’t any traps or really any sign that anyone has been here. Not even the golems. And I thought they’d keep chasing us for sure.”
“Heh, I wouldn’t worry about it kid,” Sonic dismissed the oddity of the situation as he led Gill down towards the singular Ring in the plaza. “That statue there just might be an image to whatever god the people who built this place worship.”
“You think so, Sonic?” Rosy asked doubtfully as she looked at the statue. Pressing a finger into her cheek she noted its stance seemed to be that of a prisoner, with arms pulled up and back. The shackles around its wrists seemed all that remained of whatever chains had long ago symbolically bound it. But the massive cog around its neck like a collar for its robes seemed even more peculiar. It was massive enough to hide most of the statue’s head as well save the eyes which peaked over it, and the three long quills that rose well above it and curled ever so slightly back. “I don’t know. It doesn’t look like it was here to be worshipped. I think it might have been a warning.
“Well I’m sure you can let us know as soon as you use that Ancient Ring,” Rosy cheerful switched from confusion to anticipation and swayed her body about while smiling brightly at Sonic.
Rosy’s shift in focus earned her Gill’s curiosity and he voiced a question he doubted would be answered. “What do you mean use the Ring Rosy-lass. There isn’t much use for a Ring in a place like this. I say we snatch it and be on our right way.”
“Funny that’d I say this, but not so fast Mach. She dragged us down here for a reason and I’d hate to disappoint her now.”
Ignoring Gill’s questioning eyes, Sonic strode up to the Ring and took it in hand. Turning it over and studying it carefully he saw exactly what Rosy already believed was there with all her heart. After all, her tarot cards would never lead her astray.
“Heh, I really don’t know how you do it kid. But someone was nice enough to scribble on this old Ring and prove it. It’s definitely an Ancient Ring, and just the one we needed.”
“Of course, silly,” Rosy laughed and shook a finger playfully at Sonic. She quickly shifted to clasping her hands in front of her however and looking at Sonic excitedly as her tail began to wag energetically. “Now hurry up! I want to know what the sign says!”
“Whatever kid,” Sonic waved her off, but still made his way up to the plaque. Looking up past it to the statue Sonic rubbed his nose as he felt a sneeze coming on. ‘And what makes you so dangerous?’ Sonic questioned it with a thought before feeling it looked familiar in a way.
“Hey kid,” looking back at Rosy, Sonic pointed a thumb at the statue. “Doesn’t it kind of remind you of someone?”
“Hmm?” Rosy tilted her head and inquisitively stepped forward as she looked at the statue closer. Her eyes lit up in surprise and recognition a moment later. “Oh! It looks like an echidna!”
“You think so too, huh?” Sonic continued to rub his nose as he looked back at the statue. ‘Yeah, you are definitely giving me the creeps buddy.’
Looking down at the plaque that likely held his answers Sonic noted a set of characters that resembled a language he did know and he smirked. Twirling the Ring around his fingers he contemplated aloud departing. “I’m thinking maybe we should leave old Ix here alone. I’d hate to wake him only to tell Knuckles I put down a possible relative when we get back home.”
“Sonic! That’s not funny!” Rosy chided Sonic who simply laughed her cute fury off. She did not relent, however. “Knuckles doesn’t talk about it, but I’m sure being the last of his kind is something that really bothers him. And besides, this is just a statue and maybe another golem at worst. It’d be a lot better if you used the Ring so you can read what the people here left behind. Maybe there’s something that would convince Knuckles to leave Angel Island or at least tell him he isn’t really alone.”
“Alright kid, I get it.” Sonic again waved off Rosy, but still rubbed his nose. ‘Weird that you haven’t picked anything up though. This is normally your type of thing unless it’s just my hay fever.’
Sonic found himself doubting his own senses as Rosy’s intuition did not seem to detect even a hint of danger. Looking at the statue one last time Sonic shrugged. ‘Well, whatever. I’ve handled echidnas and statues both before so what difference does it make.’
His mind finally made up, Sonic again took a firm grip on the Ancient Ring and pressed it to the plaque. Unlike the last time he had attempted to make a Ring Bond with the ancient script, this time the Ring Bond came to life. Gill unfolded his arms as he stared bewildered at the scene before him.
“What exactly are you doing lad? Is that Ring Craft?”
“Ring Craft? Rosy looked back puzzled at Gill who looked more than a little a terrified.
“Don’t know what you’re talking about Mach. This is just a little trick I picked up a long time ago. And one with disappointing results today.”
“Really?” Rosy questioned turning her curious gaze onto Sonic as the motes of light the Ring had dissipated into were absorbed by Sonic’s body.
“Yeah. It’s just like you said kid,” Sonic confirmed Rosy’s prior assumption. “It’s just a warning. Looks like there’s nothing here but some old history. Maybe Zooey would be interested though. I think I can afford to spend a Ring to give her a call.”
“Wait a right minute lad,” Gill attempted to cut Sonic off. “How was that not Ring Craft like the old tales speak of. You touched the plaque with a Ring and now you can read the ancient script?”
“Hm, looks like Zooey was trying to get in touch with me for a while,” Sonic ignored Gill as he rolled his glove cuff forward to look at the wrist mounted device underneath it. Pressing a button on it he spoke up to someone who was far from present. “Hey Zooey, the kid and I–”
-Sonic! What happened. Oh, never mind it’s horrible! Oh, Sonic you have to do something!-
    “Woah, Zooey, what’s the matter?”
    -Sonic! It’s… Sonic! It’s Tails!-

The Prisoner, End
-----
And there we go, time for a hard shift back to the current villains, but at least for how I imagine things for now the Battle Kukku Armada should be more small time pests compared to my take on Pir'Oth Ix. He's obviously out of commission right now, but he'll be active soon enough. I hope everyone enjoyed this chapter, and I wonder how many of you recognized him  before getting this far down or taking a peak at the tags. Anyway, one more scene from last week to post so I'll you see everyone in a bit.

Sonic Ring Bond: The Journey - Scene 53
For everyone reading this it’s only been about four days since the last update, but it’s been like two weeks for me between writing and editing XD Suffice to say, life was kind of weighing me down. But here we are. Claymore has appeared and everyone is together. Seemingly to Ix’s expectations. What does that mean? Read on and find out in...
Tumblr media
-Sonic, Rosy, what’s going on. Guys!-
“Hmhmhmhmhm,” the laughter of Saber the Red filled the room that Sonic and Rosy had caught up to Ix in and distracted them from Tails’ voice across their wrist device radios.
“No!” Rosy shouted in surprise as Saber had appeared but a moment sooner, and after Claymore had strode into the chamber. What made Rosy scream however was that Saber had taken one of his namesake weapons from his shoulder pylons and jammed it straight up into Claymore’s midsection.
“Ho!” Claymore shouted as he looked down at the far nimbler suit of armor. “You would show yourself now, traitor!”
“Come now Claymore, I had hoped you would be more of a challenge than the autogolems you have roaming these halls.”
“Curious,” Ix remarked as he looked back at the scene behind him. “How long did I slumber for the Sword Knights to turn on each other. Truly, the state of this world is wrong.”
Twirling his staff for but a moment above his head, Ix slammed it into the ground, the crystal Rose at its head shining a bright purple. In response the ground cracked and splintered, a torrent of Rings bursting forth in response.
“Ho! “Claymore shouted as he fell to a knee. “You would risk your own destruction as well foul mage. I had believed you would face me in battle at the heart of Tower Point.”
“There is little need,” Ix remarked as Fukurokov and Fang stared at him in horror. “I can eliminate two knights at one time and simply choose a new vessel to continue my pursuit.
“Then…? Ho! It was a trap!”
“Sneaky,” Saber commented and withdrew his sword as he stepped back from Claymore. “I did not come to be buried this day however.”
“Neither did I!” Fang shouted before turning pleading eyes onto Rosy. “You hafta get me outta this Rosy!”
“You think I’ll let you get away?” Doctor Fukurokov leveled Fang’s own gun at the treasure hunter’s head to emphasize his threat. “And what trickery is this! You promised me a return to glory!”
Turning the pop gun from Fang, Doctor Fukurokov took aim at Ix, and quickly paled as the stone golems rose around them. It was the opportunity Fang needed however and he fell back and lashed out with his tail. “Gah!”
“Sorry, but I’m not hanging around here any longer,” Fang laughed as he knocked his gun free of Doctor Fukurokov’s grasp. Catching it as he braced himself on his tail, he shook the firearm a moment before springing up into the air and shouted at Rosy. “This time, I’m ready Rosy!”
“What!” Doctor Fukurokov’ shouted as he saw a Ring Gate appear in Fang’s path disappearing with the jerboa-wolf hybrid in an instant. “Who~?”
“Was that really a good idea, kid?” Sonic asked looking at Rosy who looked quite pleased with herself. At least until Sonic asked.
“Soni~c,” she whined and puffed up her cheeks. “Fang is my friend and I had to help him, and now that he isn’t in danger, I can try to talk Ix down.”
“It’s too late for that, Lady Medium,” Claymore scoffed as a dark purple mist began to swirl around his left arm. “The foul mage has already taken his leave. You fell for his bait and now he likely has another vessel en route to the heart of Tower Point.”
“To think you failed so badly Claymore. Your sleep has made you rusty,” Saber mocked the far larger autogolem knight.
“And you have lost all honor, Saber! Ho!”
With his trademark shout, Claymore became a well of gravity and everything in the room became stuck in his pull. Ix’s stone body along with his golems were pulled apart, the debris pulled into Claymore’s body. A body which healed and grew with the consumption.
“What is this!” Doctor Fukurokov shouted helplessly before being pulled off his feet and right into a Ring Gate that appeared before him and vanished.
“You would save your obvious enemy, Ring Mage, Sonic the Hedgehog?”
“You’re getting closer,” Sonic shook a finger at Claymore. “Just drop the mage bit and we’ll be good. Well, after I clean up your mess, stop Ix, and yeah, make sure no one gets more hurt than you already have today.”
“Hmhmhmhmhm, it’s too late for that,” Saber laughed and took to the air and out into the cavernous main hall beyond the small room everyone had gathered in. Form his new vantage point, he could see everything collapsing around him and an army of golems rising past the golden twinkle of collected Rings. “Pir’Oth has already begun to collapse the whole of Tower Point. Soon, Yoluku will wake again! Hmhmhmhmhm!”
“Yeah, not happening! Let’s go Amy!”
Grabbing Rosy’s wrist, Sonic took off so fast she barely got her feet under her. When she did, Sonic noticed the drag immediately as she still had a long way to go to catch up to him in the use of his speed. Not wanting to waste time, Sonic scooped her up into his arms, and just in time to avoid collapsing debris.
“Phooey!” Rosy complained, puffing up her cheeks even as she nestled into Sonic’s embrace and blushed happily. There was conflict in that joy though as the situation had gotten dire. “Why did it have to happen like that?”
“Doesn’t matter,” Sonic dismissed the past. “But if we don’t do–”
-Guys! Please tell me you’re okay. The data is going crazy and the whole city is starting to collapse!-
“Tails!” Rosy shouted before remembering she had to activate the radio on her wrist.
“Tails! I was right! It was Ix, and now he’s collapsing the whole city. I don’t know what to do, but Sonic and me are heading towards Ix now! And hopefully, we stop him. But you need to get out of here! It’s not safe, and–!”
     -What is that!-
“What is what?” Sonic asked as the whole of the catacombs began to tremble and shake as though the entire landmass was being torn apart.
The answer did not take long to be discovered.
As Saber flew out of the growing sinkhole Tower Point was becoming, he was joined by the Tornado under remote control from a desperate to not lose it Zooey. Following them, not in pursuit but rather growth, Claymore emerged.
He had grown massive beyond compare, the collapsing city feeding his gravity well. Whether or not the people of the city were spared as he grew was a mystery, but his artificial frame could easily harbor them all as it grew.
“Are we going to be able to get away from that?” Draw asked looking at the absurd sight of the impossibly huge autogolem and the storm of purple clouds that swirled around him.
“I couldn’t rightly say, lad,” Gill confided from where he joined Draw on the Deck of the Skyskipper. “It’s likely that knight will consume us all.”
“I thought I was going to be safe here!” Fang surprised Gill and Draw as he came out onto the deck. “What is that fox girl doing!”
Running to the deck and leaving the other’s confused, the sight of the Avocado Green joining the Skyskipper had no meaning to Fang. Neither did Mighty as he ran by him to demand an explanation, even as Zooey worked to open a Ring Gate large enough for both airships. Mighty did not follow Fang or return to the bridge as he watched the cloud of darkness around Claymore’s left arm become a giant maw of light filled darkness. With that looming maw the knight took a massive bite out of the city with.
“SO~NI~C!” Rosy cried out at the top of her lungs as everything collapsed around her and Sonic within the gigantic maw.
“Just get ready!” Sonic yelled as he tossed Rosy into the air in front of him.
     “Wah~!”
“Just don’t enjoy this too much!”
Leaping up after Rosy, he grabbed her hand and spun her about into him as he curled into a tight ball forcing her to do the same. Together they formed one giant rolling hedgehog ball and plowed through practically everything in front of them with growing speed. Until finally, they broke apart and Rosy flopped onto her back with swirling eyes and red face.
“I said don’t get too excited,” Sonic sighed as he looked back at Rosy behind him. “That was simply the Rolling Combo Tails and I came up with. You didn’t do bad for your first go at it though.”
Unsteadily stumbling to her feet, Rosy smiled as Sonic flashed her a thumbs up. But the expression did not last for long. Sonic had donned a dead serious look and turned his attention forward to the heart of the clockwork sphere they had arrived in. Following his gaze, Rosy gasped.
     “Ix!”
She could not find the words to continue however as there were two of him. A wooden one, and one like the autogolem knights. A clockwork skeleton with a suit of armor built onto it, and of course his signature flowing purple robes.
“So, you really had laid a trap for us,” Sonic gritted his teeth as he looked at the swirling gyroscopic device around the autogolem Ix, and how it and the gears within the clockwork sphere had nearly come to a halt.
“One I had not expected you to survive,” Ix acknowledged his plan. “Yet, you do not seem to be the hero foretold of by the medium. My plans remain unchallenged. You two are far, far, too late, and there is nothing the fool Sword Knights can do to stop me. I am but one step closer to returning at last to the side of my old friend.”
     “We’ll see about that!”
     “KYAA~!!!!!”
     “Amy!”
Sonic stopped mid-preparation to leap forward as Rosy suddenly screamed. Turning back, he saw the red light of a Red Star Ring pouring from her left eye, her face trapped in a moment of true fear. “AMY~!”
~Those were the last words I remember hearing Sonic say while I could see him. Everything after that is almost pure darkness. I can’t really remember anything. But I know I saw the Gear Star Ring in my eye crumble some more, letting the gear be fully connected along three points of the star. I just wish I hadn’t seen that in Sonic’s beautiful green eyes. He looked so desperate as he reached for me, but then I was just gone. But I heard it. At least for a moment. It was my voice. I was talking but it wasn’t me. It wasn’t me, and I’ve never been so scared.~
“I am most afraid not, Dirt Dweller. ‘My’ Medium is gone.”
Scene 53 · CLEARED Party Crashing, to be continued
-----
And isn’t that a doozy to end it on? XD Don’t worry, the next scene is out on Saturday (or already if you’re reading this after the publication date). As for who has possessed Rosy. Well, I’ve finally introduced my AU’s villain and I hope you enjoy this initial tease into their character. Next scene is the end of Season 1 and huge changes will be coming after that starting April. Please enjoy and I hope you’ll continue to follow me on The Journey!

Sonic Ring Bond: The Journey - Scene 47
Well, I’m going to keep this intro short today. There isn’t really a lot of ways I can set up leading into today’s scene. So, please jump straight into...
Tumblr media
“Hee-hee! It’s really you!” Rosy giggled and could not keep herself still. She fidgeted all about and her tail was wagging with more energy than usual. Then, in an explosion of joy she flung herself at who she was speaking with. “TAILS!”
“Ha-ha!” Tails laughed and struggled to keep himself balanced as Rosy embraced him in a huge diving hug. “It’s good to see you too Rosy! Woah!”
Spun about by the force of Rosy’s embrace, Tails put his namesake twin tails to use and flew up with Rosy joyously hanging on to him. The sight was almost too much for Draw and Blister.
“My, he’s an interesting one, isn’t he?”
“Is he… I mean… how exactly…,” Draw stammered in comparison to Blister’s smooth handling of her surprise. Though that could have been partly due to her being a pirate and a merchant, or just the deliberate and sleepy sounding way she spoke.
To calm Draw down, Sonic gently rapped his knuckles against his head. Clutching his head, the koala angrily turned onto Sonic. “What was that for!”
“Just lending a hand,” Sonic laughed as he really did mean Draw no harm. As Draw was blunter than Blister and was not familiar with Tails like Mighty and Gill, Sonic did have to take a moment to be a little more serious. “And you can help him out by not making a fuss about them. Until you’re used to them enough to consider them normal, and by then you shouldn’t have a reason to.”
“I get it, just don’t hit me!” Draw complained, even though he knew Sonic meant him no harm. Still, he had to get the last word in. And Sonic let him, though his smug smile told Draw it was not his victory. There was no time to keep at it though as everyone fully disembarked from Blister’s airship and moved to greet Tails.
~I’m so happy to have caught up with Tails, and of course he’s being as amazing as ever!
~Picking up his Ring Radio was a total surprise as Blister was simply trying to make sure hers was properly integrated with her ship. It’s something we can ask Tails to double check on later, but he’s been pretty busy. Being amazing of course~♥
~The last we knew, Tails was looking for another pit of radio signal boosting crystals like the ones at Radio Point. What he found instead was a whole medieval castle town, and not a normal one! This one was built entirely upside down on the underside of a giant land bridge. Maybe…~
“It’s pretty wild Sonic,” Tails happily explained to Sonic as he gave the whole group a tour of where he had been researching. Despite having been separated for so long, it was impossible to tell with how naturally he talked about his findings. “It looks like the city was built upside down, but what purpose would that serve. If my research is right, then it was actually put here by a Ring Shift.”
“So, what about the people who lived here?”
Looking around as Tails led the group across the underside of a bridge, Sonic was not wrong to ask. The castle town itself looked like it could have easily supported quite a large population, however, there was no sign of anyone. Tails was more than glad to share his latest hypothesis though.
“That’s the thing Sonic, there’s no way they should have tried living here, but it looks like they did and probably moved out on their own when it got to be too much.”
“How is that possible Tails?” Rosy asked, genuinely curious.
    “You want to find out?”
    “Yeah!”
“You two aren’t about to cause us a lot of trouble, are you?” Sonic asked, scratching inside his ear.
“It’ll be fun, I’m sure!” Rosy threw all her faith into Tails. “Tails wouldn’t tease it if it wasn’t.”
“Why do I have a bad feeling about this?” Draw asked and received a comforting hand on his shoulder from Mighty.
“I would say it’s because it’s what those two do. Keeping them out of trouble is as hard as keeping the wind out of a storm.”
“That’s impossible,” Draw stared at Mighty disbelieving as he replied.
Mighty’s smile and lone bead of sweat down his cheek did nothing to alleviate his concern, and Gill spoke up to make matters worse.
“That should give you an idea lad. Last time I accompanied them things just kept getting worse. And I still don’t see how they’ve gotten better.”
“If you’re so worried about being in danger, you could always leave,” Blister suggested and earned a scowl from Gill.
Rosy was too distracted to keep the mouse and frog off each other as she took Tails’ offered hand as the fox took off. Flying up towards the deserted city street above, Rosy suddenly felt gravity shift and would have fallen into Tails if he were unprepared.
“W-O-W~!” Rosy squealed with delight. “This is amazing Tails! But what’s going on?”
Looking up past the now gravitationally righted Tails, Rosy saw Sonic and the other’s standing on the underside of the bridge above her, and the cloudy sky beyond.
“It’s some type of anomalous gravity field,” Tails explained. “But it doesn’t affect the entire city equally. And you can tell people tried living here for a while after the shift due to the various twisting roads and bridges throughout the city.”
    “If they were building things–”
“Then they must have lived here for a while,” Tails finished Rosy’s thought. “But that isn’t the only thing that could have driven them out. Do you remember where the others are standing?”
“Yeah,” Rosy answered confused and looked back towards Sonic and the others. She missed Tails’ smile and thus was shocked when she turned back forward to see Tails flying straight for a brick wall. “Kya~! Tails watch out! We’re going to crash!”
~The crash never came. Ooh~! I’m so mad at Tails for giving me such a scare, even if it turned out to be fun as we flew at the wall but almost crashed into Sonic and the others.
~According to Tails, the whole city is full of these weird little ‘dimensional disturbances’. He figures its part of what has been interfering with Ring Radio signals in the lands under Yolk since they transmit across dimensions. It isn’t what he was looking for when he headed out from Radio Point, but it was a great find for him.
~I’m so happy for Tails, and I know that he could study this stuff forever, but now that we’ve met back up… Well, it means we have to find Zooey and Fang and get back to working on going home. Though we may need to figure out the Gear Star Ring in my eye first. Hee-hee! It hasn’t replaced my left iris at all since finding Tails, so I nearly forgot about it. Really, seeing Tails again after so long, I nearly forgot about everything.
    ~Reality is such a bully though!~
“So, that’s your ship Ms. Blister?” Tails asked as they made their way back around the undersides of bridges and roof eaves to where the half avocado shaped airship was effectively moored.
“It is,” Blister nodded proudly. “It’s my pride and joy! The Avocado Green I call it!”
“That name is certainly… flavorful,” Tails nervously attempted to be kind about the strange name. Not having the courage to look the mouse who captained it in the eye, Tails looked at the ship and found a topic of conversation to switch to.
“And it looks like you have quite the crew. I can hardly believe your ship can hold them all.”
“What are you talking about?” Blister asked and turned her eyes onto her ship. “Oh dear, it looks like I’m being raided actually.”
    “Raided!”
Tails shout drew everyone’s attention and in no time, they were all aware of the variety of autogolems crawling all over Blister’s vessel.
It was not Draw’s first time seeing autogolems that looked like they were crafted to resemble the armor of medieval knights, and he knew there was troubling waiting for them and reached for his bow. “Those aren’t yours, right?”
“No, but I’d appreciate it if you didn’t wreck my ship. Ms. Rosy has told me about your penchant for explosives.”
“I guess that’s your cue, Sonic,” Mighty offered Sonic a smile and received a confident smirk in return.
“Why not. Bashing bots is kind of my thing.”
“Can I join you!” Rosy clasped her hands together and asked with excited eyes and wagging trail.
“Sorry kid,” Sonic denied her request and ruffled her bangs. “In this terrain we can only risk Tails having to catch one of us.”
“Ooh~! Well, you better put on a show then!”
“Heh,” Sonic laughed and pointed a thumb at himself. “You know you don’t have to worry about that. Just who do you think I am?”
“Sonic the Hedgehog of course!” Rosy cheered and thrust her balled up hands into the air. Opening her eyes and bringing her arms down, she cheered Sonic on. “Go get them!”
    “No problem!”
With an instinct that bordered on supernatural, Sonic took off for the airship at a pace none could match. And not because they didn’t have his speed, but no one could use it like Sonic. Surely the auto golems would soon be helpless scrap before the coming streak of blue. Except…
    “Ho!”
It was the first time any of them were seeing Claymore the Purple in person, and the towering purple autogolem at his full three meters did not disappoint as he stopped Sonic in mid-air.
“What in the–?” Sonic questioned as a force pressed him tighter into his curled form and kept him rotating.
“Impressive to see a Ring Mage choose to enter a melee,” Claymore remarked, as his outstretched hand kept Sonic held in a slowly shrinking ring of purple light. “But no matter. I’ve come for the medium. Well, having interrupted your Ring Radio transmission. Ho! How fortuitous I am this day!”
With a flick of his wrist, Claymore launched Sonic deep into the castle town and turned his glowing purple eyes on Rosy.
“Ho! Forgive my rudeness Lady Medium. I am Claymore the Purple, Knight of the Order of the Swords. Now be so kind as to come along peacefully.”
Scene 47 · CLEARED Reunion Knight, to be continued
----
I find myself wanting to laugh just like Rosy did at the start of this. Obviously by the end it wasn’t too cheerful anymore, not with Sonic being yeeted off to who knows where. But, Tails is finally here again. It’s actually kind of wild writing with him involved as he really feels like the glue of the AU. His smarts and enthusiasm for his research; it’s just amazing to write really. Hopefully in the future it will be just as easy and he’ll help tie everything together nicely with that Sonic feel I sometimes feel like I’m missing.
Thank for reading everyone! I hope you’ll be back for the next scene!

Sonic Ring Bond: The Journey - Scene 51
Well, a lot happens in this scene, though it took me forever to put it together due to all sorts of problems on my end. Unfortunately I’m a horrible proof reader so I hope the events flow and don’t feel wasted. So, instead of panicking and throwing a fit about it, I’ll let everyone dive right into...
Tumblr media
The hanger doors folded out and a chill wind rushed into the belly of the Skyskipper, Zooey’s coral red airship. Normally it served as home for Zooey, Tails, and Rosy, but when they first found a red star ring it became their base of operations, including for Sonic and Mighty. As Claymore’s Banquet unfolded below, it also served as an observation platform for the Engineers, who Zooey had forged a strong alliance with while sky racing using Sonic and Tails’ planes; the Tornado and X-Tornado. Today though, it was Sonic at the controls of the Tornado, with Rosy blissfully on his lap in the now cramped cockpit.
“I kind of feel like I should have taken Tails’ plane.”
“Don’t be like that, Sonic~♥,” Rosy giggled and Sonic rolled his eyes before looking out at Zooey who was preparing to man the deployment arm for the plane.
“You ready to bail if things go sideways?”
“Not too far. Besides, the Ring Gate Beacon is working perfectly. You shouldn’t have any trouble getting back here.”
“Then we’re off!” Rosy shouted excitedly and thrust a fist cheerfully in the air.
Sonic smirked as he dodged Rosy’s enthusiasm and began throwing switches as he started up the silver-winged, red biplane. With Rosy’s arm up in the air though, he noticed a light blinking from under the cuff of Rosy’s glove. “We got a call, kid. How about you say hi to Tails while we head out.”
    “Yay!”
Bringing her arm down and trying not to get in Sonic’s way, Rosy depressed a button on the wrist device she wore. “So, is this Mighty or Tails!~♥”
-Oh~! This technology is amazing! It’s a lot more advanced than what we installed on my ship.-
“Blister?” Rosy asked confused. “Why do you have–”
-Don’t worry about it Rosy-lass,- Gill’s voice came across the wrist radio next He also seemed to quickly change his mind. -No. Definitely worry about it, Rosy-lass. That knight is more trouble than we realized. But we got in contact with Tails, Mighty, and the koala before he took them out of here. Tails insisted that we get their stuff and meet you at the stage. He’s worried Rosy-lass. Real worried, especially after I told him that Claymore sent most of his autogolems into the catacombs. He insists that your lad is going to need to stop someone. We don’t know who, but Claymore called him a Ring Mage.-
    “Ix!” Rosy declared with surprise.
“You don’t know that,” Sonic countered, but Rosy did not even puff up her cheeks as she countered him. She attempted to wear a smile for him though.
“Just call it my girlish intuition.”
“Right,” Sonic replied offering her a more comforting smile before flashing Zooey a thumbs up. “We’re good to go, Zooey. Send us on our way.”
“Just come back please. Sonic, Rosy. And make sure you bring Tails and Mighty with you.”
“You got it!” Sonic promised Zooey as she activated the launch arm, and the Tornado was lifted out of the airship.
“We’ll bring our new friends too,” Rosy cried out as the Tornado was released and fell away from the airship. “You’ll love them!”
~Normally I would love flying sitting in Sonic’s lap while he pilots his plane. Tee-hee~♥ This might be my first time. I don’t think we ever have. But the thing is… Well, something isn’t right.
~I know Sonic doesn’t believe in destiny. He believes in forging his own path. But the gods are real. I don’t remember, but Sonic I’m sure does. The Rings will always remember, and he can create Ring Bonds, so he surely does. I know we must have met a few. And this scene as we fly past the other airships and towards the main cathedral, it looks like something they would do.~
The scene before Rosy was ominous, even as it was beautiful. From the complex of towers that made up the main cathedral of Tower Point, the spire of the main one was aimed straight at Yoluku above. Behind it, the sun rose into the morning sky, and began to set behind Yoluku. An upside-down sunset and the spreading of an ominous smile.
Beyond the clouds that adorned the blue sky, an eclipse night began to fall, and the stars came out to watch the banquet below, the red crack in the sky splitting their number.
It was a sight that many below marked as the beginning of the end of the world. Claymore the Purple however would not stand to let Yoluku win. With Tails, Mighty, and Draw with Mote hiding in his coat, trailing him, Claymore descended a massive stairwell that took him and his contingent of autogolems onto the stage that overlooked the main plaza. Compared to the three-meter-tall suit of armor, the stage looked small. Looking up as he did past the tower and to where Yoluku mockingly watched the festivities, it was Claymore who looked small.
“Ho!” Claymore shouted out in victorious triumph, challenging the small planet in the sky to face him. “This is why we host this Banquet my good people! To show you that as long as even one Knight of the Order of the Sword stands, foul Yoluku is but a harmless bauble in the sky. It is only those that would carry out Yoluku’s will that you need fear. And one comes to us now!”
Turning his attention, and in turn that of the gathered masses to the skies, Claymore eyed the Tornado as it weaved through the airships.
~I bet the scene from the stage is amazing! But it’s getting hard for me to pay attention. The Gear Star Ring that sometimes replaces my left iris is back, and it hurts so much. I guess that means the gear is turning, so something big is about to happen. Or maybe Saber the Red is here.
~It’s really hard to say what is going on though. I just hope it isn’t as bad as it sounds like Tails thinks it is.~
“Hey kid, are you okay?” Sonic asked noticing Rosy clutch at her shoulder, and her cards within the shoulder puff of her leotard.
Rosy didn’t hear him though. Her cards were freezing, and there was a voice creeping through her skin whispering in her ears.
It’s alright. You can still have fun. There is yet still plenty of fun to be had…
“Amy!” Sonic yelled and shook Rosy from her stupor.
“Oops!” Rosy apologized and stuck her tongue out. “Sorry. I think something was trying to talk to me. But I’m here!”
“And so are we,” Sonic let Rosy know that they had landed.
“Aw~! I missed you do a flyover didn’t I!” Rosy whined as Sonic playfully chucked her from the cockpit. “Ack! What was that for!”
“You were taking too long, and got a little distracted,” Sonic smirked as he flung himself from the cockpit and glared across the stage. “And I don’t think our host is willing to wait much longer.”
“Ho!” Claymore shouted and looked taken aback as Rosy took Sonic’s offered hand and helped herself up. “You would treat the medium under your care so carelessly. You are no knight Ring Mage!”
“And what about you, Sir Buckethead,” Sonic countered. “Attacking people out of the blue to kidnap little girls–”
    “I’m not a little girl!”
“–and kidnapping her friends when that fails,” Sonic continued ignoring Rosy’s rebuttal. “That doesn’t sound much like a knight either. Or maybe I’m just out of the loop and you guys don’t put much stock in being honorable anymore.”
Pulling free the finger he had started scratching at the inside of his ear with, Sonic looked at it a moment before blowing on it and walking away from Rosy. She didn’t wait at the plane and took up pace behind Sonic as he approached the towering autogolem.
“You would challenge my honor? Ho!” Claymore laughed. “You are brave Ring Mage, but your friends remain unharmed.”
Motioning out with a hand, Claymore displayed where Tails, Mighty, and Draw were in shackles under autogolem watch. Mighty offered Sonic a shrug as Sonic’s look begged to know why he hadn’t broken free. Draw just looked irritable, which was almost expected of the young koala. He knew he was in trouble, but there were some naiveties that he still possessed that kept him from panicking. Tails was not so fortunate.
“Tails!” Rosy cried out, the obvious fear and dread on her best friend’s face tearing at her heart. “Just wait right there! Sonic will have this cleaned up in no time!”
“There’s no time to wait!” Tails yelled back. “I’ve been reading since I got here, and if what I’ve read is true, if we don’t stop the Ring Mage in the catacombs below the city, the Near Lands will be blown apart and absorbed into the Far Lands! Rosy! The whole Near Lands are a Red Star Ring!”
“What…?” Rosy asked confused, but still trembled at the implications of Tails’ words.
The statement even gave Sonic pause and he looked out at Tails questioningly. “Are you sure about that Tails? I’ve already used two of them. I would think I would have noticed.”
“How would he have found that out from books in the cathedral?” Claymore’s stunned question answered Sonic’s question and he turned an angry glare back onto the knight.
“You had a problem like this stirring, and you came to pick up our fight,” Sonic nearly snarled.” I don’t think you have your priorities in order, Sir Buckethead.”
“You underestimate the armies of the Preservers,” Claymore countered and drew his sword. “A Ring Mage who would challenge me to battle and is in possession of a medium is a far greater threat!”
“Your wrong!” Rosy interrupted and held a hand to her heart. “Sonic doesn’t hurt people unless they’re already hurting others. You took our friends because you wanted to take me. You wanted to know if I could hear Yolk saying something. You obviously want to protect this beautiful world. That makes you like Sonic and all of us then. Ix though… Ix won’t stop. He told me the world has to be righted. That he has to find to his friend no matter what. That once he does that the world will be returned to how it should be. If he’s here and he can affect everywhere and the Red Star Ring these lands are built on, everyone’s homes… then you have to let us stop him!”
“And how can I know you can be trusted, Lady Medium?” Claymore challenged Rosy’s pleas. “Do you think me blind to the Yoluku Device in your eye? Even now Yoluku could be whispering in your ear–”
“If that’s Yolk then please tell them to get out of my head!” Rosy yelled as she squeezed her hand tightly around her shoulder.
“Rosy! Don’t tell me…?” Tails’ panic shifted as he saw the pain clear as day on Rosy’s smiling face, as well as her trembling knees and the water vapor that flowed out of her sleeve. “Rosy! You have to put your cards down, or at least give them to someone else!”
“You remember that too, huh, Tails?” Sonic remarked and surprised Rosy.
“Sonic? What are you talking about?”
“This isn’t the first time you’ve had a god messing with you through your cards, kid,” Sonic spoke, fighting to keep his anger in check. To help, he turned again towards Claymore, a ready recipient of his ire.
“I wanted to wreck that tin can you’re wearing and reveal the fairy I’m pretty sure is hiding inside,” Sonic began before turning his back on Claymore and walking away, a guiding and protective hand on Rosy. Looking back as he returned towards the Tornado, he continued with cocky anger, “but it looks like you’re getting my help whether you want it or not.”
“I will not accept the aid of a puppet of Yoluku,” Claymore countered and took a step towards Sonic and Rosy, reaching for them with his empty hand.
“I figured you’d say that,” Sonic shrugged as he tossed Rosy into the cockpit. “But fortunately, I’ve already planned for it.”
Sticking his fingers in his mouth, Sonic whistled and made quite the show of the signal to action. Looking back at Claymore one last time, he smirked and wagged a finger. “And I’m no one’s puppet. My only master is the wind that blows free!”
-----
And we survived XD I hope the scene flowed well, and I’ll do my best to make sure the rest of the Season 1 finale is good. As you can probably guess by this text, at the time of this commentary I haven’t written it yet. Things have been pretty crazy, and hopefully are less crazy when this posts. Still, I’m really hoping I have a great finish in store for everyone! Wish me luck!

Sonic Ring Bond: The Journey - Scene 50
It’s scene 50! It’s quite the milestone really, but also not really. No big celebrations planned with this one, and it’s smack dab in the middle of the ongoing story. That means no special plans for it were ever considered. Further, it’s probably the shortest scene to date. So, let me not eat up your time and let you get straight into...
Tumblr media
Sonic and Rosy were not the only ones sneaking into the city of Tower Point during the festivities of Claymore’s banquet. As they discovered, Zooey and several members of the Engineers had infiltrated the city as well. For what purpose did not matter to Sonic, as long as they did not interfere with his attempts to rescue Tails and the others. It would be fine however if they served as distractions, even though that was what he was aiming to do. And he had done a fine job making his presence felt in the city. Now, every flight capable autogolem swarmed the skies watching for Sonic and Rosy to emerge from one of the airships. This allowed the group on the ground that had also infiltrated the city to move mostly unnoticed, though the two members who made it up could easily sprint away from any trouble they found. That very possibility is what made Blister the Mouse’s deliberate and sleepy sounding fashion of speech carry a weight of genuine concern.
“I know I keep bringing it up, but maybe I can say I’m surprised now,” Blister began, giving a tug on the straps of her massive backpack should she need to suddenly flee.
“And what would that be lass?” Gill asked, rotating one eye back to look at the mouse while the other scanned his surroundings. “That your informants actually had the right of it, or are you trying to pick a fight with me again? This hardly seems the time lass.”
“Hmm~hmm,” Blister agreed, holding a finger to the corner of her mouth as she nodded. “And that’s why I’m surprised you haven’t run off yet. I wouldn’t have believed that you were the type to not flee in this situation.”
“Well, believe it or not lass, but Mach Frog Gill Bradley is loyal to his friends, and Rosy-lass is a fine treasure of a friend.”
“Hm~hm,” Blister nodded, repeating her confirmatory humming. “Though, I wonder how many autogolems we’ll still have to evade to get inside.”
The inquiry of Blister’s was far from simple caution. The mouse and frog had managed to make their way almost to the heart of the city. What awaited them was the city’s largest tower, and a massive swarm of autogolems and black robed priests. The crowd itself was fairly alarming, but it was the giant that strode through its midst with great anxiety that caught their eye and made them dive for cover.
Standing at an illusory nine meters tall, due to the spire of his helmet doubling as the hilt of his namesake sword, Claymore was as imposing as ever. He was for all extents and purposes a suit of battle-ready knight armor of a purple hue that was built directly onto a clockwork skeleton. It was not an uncommon design style for an autogolem and, but at a distance it was almost impossible to think Claymore anything but a living being. His glowing purple eyes peering out from behind the slotted visor of his helmet put it into question though. Much closer it became obvious however, the joints of the armor revealing hints of the clockwork skeleton beneath. Even then, it was hard not to believe that Claymore was a living thing as he spoke with much anxiety, in a booming and jovial voice.
“Ho! I expected the Ring Mage and the medium, but the other. I knew not he was even unsealed. Has he been found yet?”
“I’m afraid not Good Knight,” one priest answered, sprinting to match Claymore’s stride, and having to duck under the knight’s billowing black cape. “But if the Ring Striker has come here–”
“Unquestionably,” Claymore agreed and came to a stop to face the throngs of autogolems and priests. “I’ve little concern of the hedgehog. He knows the ways of knights and is likely to be honorable. I will take his companions with me personally to the main table to meet him in battle. The rest of you however, and every other that can be spared, descend into the catacombs. Ho! Flood them! We cannot allow a single crumb of a chance that he be allowed to reach his goal. It would spell an unmatched disaster that would fully defeat my banquet. Stop him, at all cost.”
“Now what lass?” Gill asked, giving a sidelong look to Blister. “We might be able to outrun the giant, but we can’t take him in a fight at all. I’ve seen the fox and the armadillo in action before and they didn’t stand a chance either.”
“Well, I figured we could rely on your specialty,” Blister hinted at an idea.
“And run where lass?” Gill sighed with exasperation. “Do you see the size of the complex? If it were going to plan it’d be little concern taking our time, but that wall of metal is already on the move.”
“And we don’t have to take our time,” Blister assured Gill. “If he’s getting them personally then we know that he has to be able to get to them.”
“Of course, lass!” Gill latched onto Blister’s line of thought and donned a sinister smile. “Then we best not waste any more time. It’s unlike Mach Frog Gill Bradley to steal more than Rings, but he won’t come up short in this job. I’ll leave that to you, lass.”
“And here I thought I would beat you to the joke,” Blister allowed herself a laugh at her own expense, having failed to deliver her counter of how everyone came up short next to Claymore. Instead, she raced after Gill as making their way inside became unexpectedly easy with nearly all of the priests and autogolems descending into the catacombs below. But even as convenient as it had become, Blister was anxious. Claymore’s anxiety lingered with her and she looked down at her feet a moment as she ran, perhaps trying to peer through the polished marble floors to whatever lay below. “I wonder who could get him so riled up though.”
Scene 50 · CLEARED Party Crashing, to be continued
-----
So, that was a scene XD
Sure, it was short, but it helps set up events. I want this season to go out with a bang, and that requires a little set up. Unfortunately that also means I’m now down to four scenes to put everything together in. After that it’s time for season 2 to start, and there will be big changes. But I’ll talk about those later. For now, I hope you enjoyed and are looking forward to what comes next!

Sonic Ring Bond: The Journey - Scene 48
Now, unlike last time I can chat a little =D
What is there to say though after Sonic was yeeted last time. Well, in today’s scene everyone will be having their first  battle against one the Sword Knights. If you recall, they dealt with Yoluku in the past, whatever that really means XD How many of them there were though and how powerful hasn’t been brought up yet, but in today’s scene you should get your first real taste. So please, join the battle in...
Tumblr media
    “SONIC!!”
Rosy and Tails shouted out in unison as Sonic careened through the upside-down castle town. Tails was more flustered by it than Rosy, simply due to having more experience in the town.
“Oh no! If Sonic ends up somewhere I haven’t studied the gravitational fields and warps–!”
“Ho!” Claymore shouted and distracted Tails as he deftly bounced from one point to another in rhythm to some unheard beat. The sight of the three-meter tall autogolem moving so gracefully was enough to get Tails to lower his hands from his head. Especially as Claymore addressed him.
“You are free to retrieve the Ring Mage child,” Claymore began before lowering his eyes down to Rosy who he now stood before. Her cheeks were puffed up and red with obvious rage, but Claymore was unconcerned as he continued. “I advise you keep him away, however. Those foolish enough to play with the work of Yoluku are the sworn enemies of the Knights of the Sword. But should the medium accompany us willingly this day, I will gladly overlook his existence. Ho!”
“No way!” Rosy shouted up at Claymore as she thrusts her fists down and her hips back. “You came and attacked my friend’s airship, and then you attacked Sonic and called him your enemy!”
    “You must understand Lady Medium–”
“I don’t have to understand anything!” Rosy shouted and interrupted Claymore. “You came in here picking a fight instead of talking, and then you threatened my friends and called them your enemies! Then right now I’m your enemy too because I’m Sonic’s girlfriend!”
“I believe that is my cue,” Mighty announced and lured Claymore to look over his shoulder back at the armadillo. The armadillo who had pulled free a huge chunk of a building and held it easily above his head. “Just so you know, I’m not fond of violence. But to protect my friends… Well, I won’t hold back if I have to.”
“Ho! Your uncertainty belies your kind nature young man,” Claymore laughed as he turned to fully face Mighty. “But I have no fear of a man who wields the earth as his weapon. Be-HO-ld!”
With a flash of purple light, the buildings around Claymore were blown apart and Rosy was flung away from them. She was fortunate to already be running as well, lest the sudden gravitational well that Claymore became the center of would have pulled her right in. As it was, Mighty lost his grip on the chunk of building as it was pulled apart and had to take hold of where he stood to keep his footing.
“This isn’t good,” Mighty remarked as the building began to crumble underfoot. Looking up he saw Rosy looking back as Tails fought a losing battle in the air to get away. Straining a smile, Mighty looked at Rosy and shouted. “Run, little Rosy! We’ll be alright, somehow!”
~I shouldn’t have. I should have stayed and fought. But Mighty’s face… I think that autogolem is stronger than him. But it’s not like they weren’t trying. As soon as Claymore realized I wasn’t in reach of his mean ability, he turned to reach for me with a massive purple mouth of light and shadows that sprouted from his arm. Draw took that moment though and fired at him with an explosive arrow. I don’t know if it hurt him because when him and Tails told me to run. Well… I ran!
~But I’m not running without a plan. I just have to find Sonic, and then we can go back and figure out how to beat this mean old knight. I hope Gill and Blister are okay too.
~Snap out of it Rosy! First, I have to find Sonic. I know they’ll all be okay. I just have to help Sonic first and then I know we can beat this mean old knight!~
“Gyaa~!” Rosy screamed as she ran around a spiraling bridge and a group of autogolems that resembled knightly helmets on spider leg fashioned armor chased her. “Why are there autogolems away from the ship too!”
The answer to Rosy’s question rested in the rumors about herself that she failed to notice. Despite her best efforts to keep a low profile on her speed and use of Rings, she had grown lax in her efforts after she had met up with and started traveling again with Sonic. Claymore was also being prepared for the potential appearance of Saber. Naturally, Rosy was not privy to any of that knowledge. All she knew was that she was being chased by autogolems that could best be called Squire Legs.
“Ooh~! I don’t like having to fight! I’m not good enough at it like Sonic yet!”
Rosy complained, but she was not ill prepared to fight the Squire Legs as they converged on her in the impossible castle town.
Skidding to a stop, Rosy performed a backflip and landed on the Squire Legs closest to her. It turned its head full around to look at her with glowing golden eyes under its black armor and Rosy stuck her tongue out at it. She meant to provoke it further, however…
“Yech! That’s disgusting, even if you are an autogolem!”
Grossed out, Rosy propped herself up on her hands and stuck her legs out to the sides in a full split. Then she snapped them down onto the ground and caused herself to lift the Squire Legs fully off the ground.
As the autogolem had been chasing her, it had too much momentum and Rosy ended up arching over backwards and body slamming it into the next one that was coming up behind her. The impact and entire motion left Rosy dizzy, and she remained arched there until the rest of the ones behind her crashed into the first two and was sent tumbling forward by the impact.
    “Woah!”
With a cry, Rosy curled into a ball and bounced off the ground before uncurling to right herself. The Squire Legs that had attempted to cut her off from ahead were well ahead of her now, having completely overshot her.
    “Bye-bye~♥”
With a wave and a wink, Rosy took off in her continued pursuit of Sonic. Naturally, though she would have easily surprised Tails in the awkward castle town for being able to pull it off, Rosy found Sonic. Whether she would credit her success to them being destined lovers or her intuition was left unsaid this time, instead she simply tackled Sonic with a relieved hug.
    “Sonic! You’re okay!”
“Barely,” Sonic remarked with a serious look.
“What happened?” Rosy asked, looking up from where she buried her face in Sonic’s chest. “Is that autogolem really so scary?”
“I wouldn’t call that bucket face scary, but he’s definitely strong. And I don’t know how he grabbed me like that.”
“He started eating the whole town when I ran,” Rosy informed Sonic, though she looked down ashamed. “I just wish I could have helped more than by running to find you.”
“You did good, kid,” Sonic offered Rosy a rare compliment and rustled her bangs. Even upset as she was, she loved how comforting that action always was from Sonic and her tail began to wag as she let herself be coddled. Gentle as Sonic was being though, there was a tenseness in his body, and it was obvious he was enraged.
“Sonic…,” Rosy mumbled into his chest hoping to calm him down.
    And then Sonic sneezed.
“SO~NI~C!” Rosy wailed. “That’s gross! Ew~! I can feel it all over my spines and back. EWWW~~~~~!!!!!”
“Heh,” Sonic snickered and rubbed his nose. He knew they were in trouble though. Turning his head to look to the side while Rosy shuddered and trembled in complete disgust, he saw Claymore standing on the top of an upside-down roof. Or perhaps Sonic was the upside-down one where he stood on a sideways bridge. With a sea of endless fog below the land bridge it was impossible to tell. It also didn’t matter with Claymore before him.
The silence was also enough to finally get Rosy to look up and spot the knight. The knight who was missing the spire-like peak of his helmet as it served as the grip of the claymore he had drawn out of his body and held in one hand. The sight of such read as a threat to Rosy and she puffed up her cheeks as her spines stiffened to the point where they could pierce steel even without her performing a Spin Attack. “You–You big meanie! Just go away!”
“I cannot do that Lady Medium,” Claymore assured Rosy as he pointed at her and the return of the Gear Star Ring in place of her left iris. “You are connected to Yoluku, and it is imperative that I take you into my custody.”
“And I already told you… NO WAY!”
“You heard the lady, pal,” Sonic smirked.
“Ho! You would be so brazen to refuse even when your friends are now my prisoners.”
“Don’t,” Sonic warned Rosy as she started to finally release him from her embrace. To her surprise he actually took her hand, lacing their fingers together. Whether there was romantic intent or not was lost on Rosy as the motion alone completely enthralled her and kept her right where Sonic needed her.
“I bet they are, and after all the trouble I’ve been going through to get everyone back together so we can go home. In case you haven’t heard Sir Bucketface, my friends and I aren’t from around here. We’ve even been trying to avoid causing any trouble, but now you’ve crossed a line I can’t forgive.”
“Sonic…?” Rosy questioned as she looked up at Sonic and saw the anger on his face, the severity of his expression.
    “Ho! A challenge,” Claymore laughed.
“That’s right,” Sonic assured him. “You knightly types like your duels, so consider it entertainment for your fancy party. ‘Cause I’m going to be crashing it and taking back my friends and leaving you exposed as the fairy you are inside that oversized tin can.”
~I wanted to ask Sonic what he meant when he called Claymore a fairy, but before I knew it, he opened a Ring Gate, and we were flung far from the weird little castle town. And flung far from all our friends too. But Sonic assured me they would be fine. So, I believe him.
~And we got early proof of it too!
~Blister’s Ring Radio aboard her ship was working like it should, and it turns out while the others were fighting Gill slipped her onboard. Her autogolems were able to drive off the ones that came with Claymore and they got away ready to help us rescue Tails, Mighty, Draw, and Mote. Of course, Blister called Gill a coward, but he knew Sonic could make a Ring Gate and bet on Sonic and me getting out by one. Tee-hee! Gill really is special! Now if only he could give up stealing Rings.
~But I’ll forgive Gill this time. He saved Blister and her ship and is ready to help us rescue everyone. Hee-hee! I’m looking forward to crashing a big party with Sonic~♥~

And for a change, Sonic chose to make a strategic retreat. Do you think he’s being wise choosing to fight on a more stable environment, or do you think this decision will come back to bite Sonic in the rear? Well, we’ll find out next time, and I hope you’ll join me! Thank you!

Sonic Ring Bond: The Journey - Scene 38
I wrote this scene at the beginning of the month, and based on everyone’s feedback was presented with quite the challenge. So much so I ended up asking the ever wonderful @cutegirlmayra for help. Naturally she delivered, but I’ll let all of you decide if I did in...
Tumblr media
~Blister the Mouse. She’s really nice, and you’re probably wondering who I’m talking about, tee-hee~♥
~Anyway, while Sonic, Draw, and me were in the big plaza, a mouse lady who’s even smaller than Draw greeted us. Like us, she was interested in the big crystal rose in the middle of the plaza surrounded by the weird clockwork gizmo. It looked just like the one from my dream before I ended up with a Red Star Ring in my eye. It also made me think of the one that Ix collected when I first met him. I wonder what they are and where they come from. Blister doesn’t know either, but she wants to learn more about them, and well, Sonic has decided to hear out her offer, even though she’s not necessarily as nice as she seems.~
“I don’t trust her, “Draw stated flatly as he crossed his arms and looked across a table of what could best be described as a hall-side bistro. The internal halls of the moving castle were as much streets as the paths on the outside. It was perhaps comparable to a shopping mall, in the form of the largest castle in history.
The mouse, Blister, was rather much the opposite. Perhaps not even half of Sonic’s height, it seemed unlikely that the little sapient mouse woman could hold the pack of goods on her back that was larger than Sonic by quite a bit. Her white fur fell into her round blue eyes as it bundled up into a curly mane atop her head. She smiled comfortably as she responded to Draw’s bluntness in an almost sleepy sounding, deliberate and playfully, teasing manner.
“Understandable,” Blister nodded agreeably. Tugging at the long sleeve of the white blouse like dress she wore under her blue poncho, she brought attention to the symbol on her sleeve. Like the one Rosy believed to be the Engineers, it was a wrench laid over a gear wheel. It differed though in that it was two wrenches forming an “X” under a human skull. “I am a pirate after all. Not a remarkably successful one though. I’m a far better merchant than I am a pirate.”
“Then you should focus on that!” Rosy implored the mouse who simply smiled at her.
“Well, my best wares I barter for from other pirates. And as a pirate no one questions me when I go looking in old ruin for even more wares. Though I’m not particularly good at that either.”
Pulling her left arm away from her sleeve, she flexed the simple flat fingers of the clockwork hand that emerged from her other sleeve. Watching her hand, Sonic spoke up as he leaned back in his chair. “And that’s where we come in, right?”
“Well, it’s not like you’re unknowns either,” Blister smiled assuredly. Reaching under her poncho she fished around a moment and pulled out a photograph, one identical to the one that Rosy kept in the shoulder puff of her leotard. In it was Sonic, Tails, Rosy, Mighty, Zooey, and Fang. Blister did not leave it face up however and turned it over to show the handwritten message on it from a Ring Thief named Mach Frog Gill Bradley. Rosy had read it before on the back of the photograph she carried and puffed her cheeks up in frustration.
“I thought it was sheer chance that I found one that Gill left a message for me on. Ooh~! Not only has he caused me all sorts of trouble, but he made a bunch of copies too!”
“A whole lot,” Blister agreed spreading her arms wide to illustrate. “And your affiliation with him and running out on the Engineers has made you an enemy of them. I’m surprised they let you in here, no less near the Rose. They say it’s the heart of an ancient type of golem known as a ‘war god’. The Engineers have been studying it and I’m curious about it too. But I can never have enough time to study it before the guards chase me away.”
“So, what do we get if we lend you hand?”
“Sonic!” Rosy admonished Sonic. “I know she asked for help and that we should give her a chance, but shouldn’t we address that she’s a pirate, and openly proud of it!”
“It’s not like the Engineers dislike pirates. Ring Thieves and the Preservers are bigger threats to them. Like you’re friend Gill.”
Rosy had no argument for that and puffed up her cheeks irritably. Blister though smiled as she flipped the photograph over again. “But I can help you find your friends. As a pirate and a merchant, I’m good with getting information. And looking at this picture, I think you’ll enjoy what I have in mind... Ms. Rose was it?”
    “Rosy!”
~Ooh~! I’ve really been suckered in now. But Sonic didn’t seem to be bothered by Blister being a pirate. I mean she seems nice enough, and it’s hard to think she could hurt anyone as tiny as she is. And it isn’t like she was just offering to help us find our friends. Her familiarity with the crystal rose and machines made Sonic ask her about my eye, and it even changed for her to see it. It was too convenient, but she promised if she learned anything about the crystal rose that related to it, she would let us know. That meant we had to help her.
~Helping her didn’t require much though. The big indoor plaza where the crystal rose was hosted a dance event almost every night. The blue glow of the crystal rose under the stars above made for a magical dance hall. Music played across a radio system in the castle and everyone generally enjoyed themselves. All we had to do was join the dancers and make a big scene. Draw thought Blister meant a commotion, but Sonic had a better idea!
~I bet you didn’t know that Sonic can really dance! And I mean really dance! No one could stop from watching him! It’s almost enough to make me feel jealous, tee-hee~♥ But I don’t need to since I know Sonic and I are destined for each other. Even the stars above and beyond Yolk say so. But well, Sonic doesn’t like anything that’s slow, so when the music slowed down, it was a big disaster. Especially as couples started pairing up to slow dance. It turned out the crystal rose was also a place where lovers confessed their feeling to each other. It was so romantic.
~Sonic wanted out of there in a hurry, but Blister signaled that she wasn’t done yet when I looked over. That meant I was going to have to make Sonic keep his promise, though Draw didn’t seem to like me taking Sonic’s hand suddenly and leaning my head into his chest. It was so warm, and his heartbeat so comforting.~
“Awagh!” Draw blubbered incoherently while waving his arms about. “Mote! What do I do!”
The yellow fairy looked at Draw a moment before turning its eyes towards where Blister still moved about the mansion sized crystal rose and the clockwork device that housed it. She was in plain sight, and unquestionably the guards would spot her if there was not a sufficient distraction. Rosy not dancing as a named enemy of the Engineers would surely not end well for Blister, leaving Mote to look at Draw helplessly.
“You’re the one who told me to keep him away from her! Now you’re going to act like this!”
Draw was not alone in having problems. A slow dance was the last thing Sonic wanted to partake in and Rosy was hard pressed to get him started. But she knew she had to try, and somehow, she felt she was getting a lending hand from an unexpected place.
“Come on Sonic,” Rosy whined playfully as she pulled on his hand and attempted to move him from where he stood. “It’s not that bad.”
“It’s not my thing, kid,” Sonic looked away from Rosy as she again tried to pull him in a different direction.
“It’s Rosy! And I know, it’s slow, and it’s not exciting,” Rosy sympathized, “but you dance so well, and it keeps everyone watching us without causing any trouble. Well, maybe a little. I want to keep you all for myself right now, but I have to share, tee-hee~♥”
Rosy looked down as she giggled and let her arms fall, though she did not let go of Sonic’s hand as she stepped in closer to him. Sonic looked down at her and sighed as she rested her head on his left shoulder. “You know I’m not yours to keep.”
“I know,” Rosy acknowledged, though her playful tone of voice made Sonic quietly question her sincerity. But she wasn’t done talking yet and remained every bit as playful as she tried to step behind him while pulling on his arm still. Naturally, Sonic had to turn to keep an eye on her, and Rosy did her best to hide her smile and her face. “So~, what if I could make a slow dance exciting?”
“And how would you do that?”
“Easy,” Rosy answered slyly as she tilted her head back up just enough to look at Sonic with her left eye, the iris of which had again taken on the form of the unique Red Star Ring which crumbled at two points and revealed a gear within. More importantly however, the glow that all Rings typically cast, though red in color as to be expected. “Blister said that if this is a machine that the Engineers would want to study it. And since I’m a bad guy to them for some reason, they won’t stop from stooping below hurting me.”
“Like I’d let them,” Sonic assured her, though his voice took on a steely defensive chill. Rosy couldn’t hide her smile and Sonic felt for a moment he was being made fun of. He couldn’t let that stand as Rosy recklessly stepped further out behind him to where her eye might be seen by more than him.
“And what is it with you and eyes causing all sorts of trouble?”
“Wha…?” Rosy asked curiously and paused a moment as she looked up at Sonic, allowing him to step into her and hide her eye from the throngs of dancers. “What do you mean?”
“You don’t remember?” Sonic asked playfully and Rosy puffed her cheeks up not liking Sonic’s teasing of her memories. The lands they were in somehow seemed to steal or repress them and remembering anything over large periods of time was difficult. Even telling time over more than a few days at a time was difficult. To the people of the lands, it was normal, and they did not even see it as unusual, but to Rosy who cherished her memories it was upsetting. Even despite how much she did still hold on to while she smiled through it all.
“Well, you were pretty adamant about how these Gaia Eyes that were like the Chaos Emeralds were asking you for help,” Sonic clarified as he stepped after Rosy when she went to move away from him. “Kind of funny though telling you a story you wanted to tell me.”
“I don’t mind,” Rosy admitted as she stepped back in towards Sonic. “I can listen to your stories of adventure all day and night, no matter where we are. Even if it’s just you embellishing one of mine.
“Besides,” Rosy smiled slyly at Sonic, “I bet it would make it easier for you to keep dancing without paying attention to what you’re doing.”
There was no response from Sonic. Nothing audible at least. His mouth fell open ever so slightly, and there was just a hint of his eyes widening.
He hadn’t even noticed. The conversation was natural. Rosy pulling him to and fro no less commonplace. But without him even noticing, she had been dancing with him the whole time and he had fallen into step.
Moving his eyes, he looked down into hers, and past the Red Star Ring at the hedgehog girl who loved him with everything she had. Even knowing he would hate slow dancing, she had found a way to make even a few steps of it enjoyable. A little banter, a recalling of adventure, and just constantly being there knowing him and letting him be himself. He looked into her very being and perhaps, a tiny bit marveled at the side of her he ran from so much.
And Rosy noticed Sonic looking into her eyes. She felt as though her heart stopped and that she could not breathe. Her feet kept moving in tune to the music though, Sonic now leading the dance as though to reward her affections. Slowly she blinked.
    Once.
    Twice.
Still Sonic looked into her eyes, as though he was trying to find something in them, or perhaps that he finally recognized something there all along.
~It had to be all in my head, but… but, Sonic had never looked at me like this before. And it wasn’t a joke. His eyes were so serious, and curious. I think my heart reached him this time.
~And he knew. He had to. I always told him, but maybe. Maybe this time I won a little piece of his too…~
The music did not stop, but Rosy did and she took a deep breath. Sonic was confused, but not as much as he was when Rosy lifted herself up with her toes, just enough to rub her nose against his.
    And there was an explosion.
Sonic had no words for it. He was speechless, and Rosy had already pulled away. Her face was buried in her hands and there was a jubilant squeal that trailed off through the crowds as the little rascal had stolen something, or perhaps given something for the first time. Sonic couldn’t be sure. All he knew was that she was gone already, and that he had never wanted to scratch the tip of his nose so badly. But there was a still calm in him that kept him from relieving his nose of the torments of Rosy’s conquest. And as Sonic stood there watching where Rosy had dashed off, he might have for a moment feared that calm, desperately wanting anything to chase it away.
“Wh-wh-what is that expression!” Draw asked flabbergasted at Sonic’s stillness. It was not Mote who answered him though, but rather Blister who pulled the koala’s hand down with her tail.
“You’re too young,” the mouse squelched his question. “And looking at him, maybe he is too. How slow the hearts of boys grow.”
    “What does that mean!”
“Nothing you need to worry about,” Blister answered obviously amused as she walked away.
“And where are you going? You’re done, right?”
“I sure am. But I think those two need some time to settle down. Don’t worry, they’re both too young yet for this to last. And I’ll be distracting all of you with plenty of adventures too. I may even want to learn more about all of you, and maybe see the flowers bloom too!”

😊💕 Huge SonAmy moment! Or at least for me it was 😁 Again a huge thank you to @cutegirlmayra for all of her help. Her experience and knowledge definitely allowed this scene to shine and i am so grateful! Thank you!
And I hope everyone enjoyed the scene, especially all the SonAmy fans. But that wasn’t all there was to this to scene. I also introduced my next recurring OC; Blister the Mouse. She should be an interesting one for me to learn to really write and get a feel for. Relaxed deliberate characters like her are not the type of characters I normally work with. But she’ll be an asset to everyone as the story continues, though how much is always in everyone’s hands as much as mine. Survey’s prompts, suggestions, these are all things that can affect her part in the story.
I hope everyone will enjoy Blister and will look forward to the first scene of February. Thank you!

Sonic Ring Bond: The Journey - Scene 22
Like before, a fair bit of exposition this chapter.
I hope everyone will forgive me. For the most part it’s part of why I have Rosy narrating most of it, as it helps show her knowledge and how she is seeing the world. I hope it’s been working and keeping everyone engaged. But I guess you really can’t engage if I keep yapping, so please enjoy...
Tumblr media
~As I said before, Rings are amazing! Through a Ring Bond two people can share so much between each other. It really makes me mad that Ix would use a Ring Bond to steal things from people. I really hope I can straighten him out, and if not that I can stop him before he really hurts a lot of people. And if not me, then hopefully Draw.
~Bringing Draw along will be difficult without Zooey or Sonic though. I’m sure I could carry him well enough, though I don’t think that he would like that. But it’s not like I can really make a Ring Bond either. I really don’t know how, though I know I’ve tried in the past to figure it out. I guess I just don’t have a good instinct for.
    ~Ooh~! It’s so frustrating!
~It’s not just Sonic and Ix though who can form Ring Bonds. Or at least some of the affects. As Rings make up the world itself when they’ve used up most of their energy, they can sometimes pass their abilities into the objects they make up. Just like the tiny little floating islands I discovered while climbing up one of the fingers of Point Beach with Draw.~
“What are you doing now, you crazy weirdo girl!” Draw called out in disbelieving panic as Rosy deftly leapt from one floating piece of rock and vegetation to another.
“Collecting Rings of course,” Rosy smiled and waved back at Draw as she landed, nearly fell, and then collected the Rings on the new island. “Though we’ll have to be careful when we get to the top. I bet there’s another mean priest waiting at the top ready to smack the Rings out of me!”
~I think Draw might have been confused why I would feel that way, but it made sense to me.
~At the top of the particularly thick “finger” that we followed the long winding plank walkway up there was an airship port. It was particularly busy too. But maybe Draw had never flown before and didn’t realize that Rings can appear all the way up into outer space even. It really is amazing. Tee-hee! But I’m getting distracted.
~Another amazing thing about Rings, at least back home, is that they can be used to fuel airships. If I’m remembering what Tails told me once, they are even used in the construction of them to help them float and ignore some of the rules about air-o-something-or-other. Anyway, that’s also why they have balloons built into their bodies and are covered in sails, wings, and propellers; to help them fly through the air. The thing is though, the airships here look a lot like they’re built the same way and I couldn’t help but look at them. At least until we got to the top of the finger.
~Unlike the coral reef look of the homes built into the old buildings that made up the finger mountains, everything up top was brand new. The roads were still paved with seashells, but the stone brick buildings were all a lot newer looking. They were still covered in plants like everywhere I’ve been, but it was really pretty, like a garden built that way. I couldn’t leave the search for Zooey waiting any longer though.
~After avoiding the priest I knew would be up there, holding up a lot of travelers too, Draw and I began looking for people familiar with the “Queen of the Sky”. Tee-hee~♪ Zooey had made it harder to track her down than I expected though as she had become quite famous since I last saw her. Everyone on top of the finger knew who she was. If I hadn’t seen the poster, I would have never found anyone who had actually met her.~
“Really!” Rosy exclaimed excitedly as the old orangutan cloud sailor she shared a café table with tapped the photo Rosy showed him.
“No doubt about it. Aye, that’s the Queen of the Sky alright. I’ve never lost an air race so badly before until I met her. She’s a devil in the guise of an angel I warn ye.”
“And she’s a friend of yours?” Draw asked as he gave Rosy a sidelong glance.
Indignantly puffing up her cheeks, Rosy defended her friend. “Zooey maybe scary sometimes, but she’s really sweet and caring. She just wants the best for her friends. I’m guessing after we all got separated that’s why she got into racing. It’d be a lot easier for us to find her if she was famous, and she doesn’t really stand out like the rest of do.”
“Can’t say that ye do lass,” The orangutan countered and rubbed his chin. “Ain’t heard hide or tail about any of the other’s in this pic. Seeing how happy she is though; I don’t doubt that you’re all good friends with her. The thing is though, the Queen of the Sky ain’t so easy to catch up with.”
“You’re just saying that cause you lost,” Draw criticized the old cloud sailor.
“Draw, that’s rude, even if it’s true.” Rosy had not meant to be so rude herself and gasped as she covered her mouth with her hands and photo as the old sailor frowned. “I’m so sorry! I really shouldn’t have said that.”
“Ye might have well of lass. Ye was thinking it, and that’s all there is to it. And perhaps I do have a sore spot still. Us cloud sailors make a living on our skills, so losing a race like that… Well, it’s a shame as a sailor and an engineer.”
“Wait!” Slamming his hands on the table in the café they had found the old orangutan in, Draw rose to his feet in shock. “You have more than one occupation? I don’t understand, everyone–”
“Has only one they dedicate their lives to?” the cloud sailor finished for Draw with a sly smile. “Only for ye ground dwellers perhaps, but the Engineers aren’t fond of the life that the Preservers force on everyone. It stifles our creativity and keeps the world stagnant. That, and ye never know when a Ring Shift will take ye off course. I hear there are still a lot of sailors missing after that big red Ring showed up in the sky.”
Her mouth falling into an “O” shape, Rosy was glad that she was still hiding her mouth. Looking down at the picture again she thought about the sapient frog who had taken it and likely had it processed. She had helped him out quite a bit too and if she was right, she may have made even more trouble for the Engineers.
“So then, I guess Ring Thieves work with the Preserves?”
“Preservers lass, and ye ain’t wrong about that. But I wonder why it is that you ask. Ain’t no good that comes from getting involved with their ilk.”
“Hee-hee. I’ve heard that back home too. Our whole way of life is dependent on Rings, so Ring thieves aren’t really liked. They’re considered really bad people.”
Draw was not sure what was going on between Rosy and the Orangutan, but he knew that they were suddenly not being very direct. It seemed odd for the normally blunt Rosy from what he had seen of her, and he grew more curious. More so that anyone would steal Rings and that it would give them a reputation other than that of a heretic. “So, what’s the big idea about a Ring Thief?”
    “Eh?”
The orangutan’s response was all Rosy needed to confirm her suspicions and Rosy jumped on the opportunity. “It’s because airships can’t function without them!”
A long awkward silence fell over the whole café as Rosy blurted it out. Sidelong glances were exchanged between the patrons and a nervous whisper filled the air. The orangutan merely gave Rosy a bewildered look which she challenged with a confident smile while her tail began to wag enthusiastically. Eventually the orangutan conceded and slumped down with a sigh.
“I suppose ye are friends with the Queen of the Sky. It was only natural that ye’d know.”
“Of course!” Rosy smiled, as she leaned back into her seat looking very happy. Draw was still staring at her curiously though as he tried to grasp the whole situation. The writing on the back of the photo she still clutched tightly really was bugging him and he questioned Rosy ignorantly of the consequences of his words.
“Then you know a Ring Thief? I guess that shouldn’t surprise me with a weirdo girl like you.”
Leaning back and placing his hands on the back of his head, Draw grew even more confused as Rosy’s smile became very strained and the eyes of the patrons grew wide with shock. “Ah~ Draw! I just wanted to get help finding Zooey! I knew if I mentioned Gill everyone would get mad!”
“Gill you say!” one patron asked indignantly. “You don’t mean that scoundrel Mach Frog Bradley do you! Why I lost a whole month’s worth of time due to that meddling creep once. It was a relief when he disappeared!”
“Ha!” another patron scoffed at the first. “Well I’ve lost a lot more to that scoundrel. Scourge of the world I say!”
“Ooh~! I knew Gill had probably gotten himself into all kinds of trouble being a Ring Thief, but he was so nice to me.”
“Well ye’ve been duped lass,” the orangutan scowled as he lost any sympathy in his eyes. “And put into a bad spot too.”
“Wait,” Rosy waved her hands in front of her pleadingly. “I really just want to find Zooey and the rest of our friends and try to get home.”
“Ye really think I’ll trust ye hearing that you’re affiliated with that slimy crook?”
“Is it really that bad?” Draw asked as though he was adding fuel to the fire. He was having a hard time grasping that the airships he frequently saw overhead were powered by Rings and that anyone who stole Rings was more than weird.
“Draw! Please don’t make this worse!” Rosy practically begged as she looked at the increasingly angered patrons as they seemed to loom about their table. “Gill helped me out, but I know Ring Thieves are bad people, and everyone here has been hurt by him too. And since I helped him out a bit too, he’s pretty much hurt me now too. Ooh~! Gill you dummy! Why did you have to hurt people too!”
~It was so frustrating. It felt my like lead to Zooey had been lost in that moment. Just like her pretty title made it sound, she was so far away from a hedgehog with her feet on the ground, even if some people thought I had lost my head in the clouds. But the funny thing is, sometimes people are a lot nicer than anyone realizes they are. A lot more forgiving too. Gill had hurt all of us, so it was only natural that we helped each other. And I’m always happy to help. Especially when it makes people smile and sets me on another adventure!~

And there we have ourselves a fun little change in direction. My frog OC, Gill hasn’t shown up in a while, but he’s still able to much things up regardless. And Rosy probably never should have asked about Ring Thieves, but her curiosity has been eating at her since Scene 16 so it was time to bring it to a head. I’m also curious what everyone thinks of Draw so far. He’s a fun little trouble maker to write and give’s Rosy a consistent person to chat with, but does everyone like him or is he just annoying and/or boring you? I hope he’s enjoyable so far. You’ll be seeing more of him for a while yet! Until then, stay well!

Sonic Ring Bond: The Journey - Scene 16
And here we go, the second update since the schedule change! It’s really so weird only posting twice a week, but survey results implied that would be best for everyone.
Onto the scene itself, I’m really enjoying writing with a dual narrator approach. I need to be really careful with it in the future though as it’s very easy to over use it. But that’s for me to worry about. For everyone else I just ask that you enjoy...
Tumblr media
     “OW! Is that really necessary!”
Rosy held nothing back as she yelped in tune to the jingling of lost Rings. The black robed priest looked at her confused that she would ask, but still answered her all the same.
“It is customary to strike free the Rings that we come into contact with on our travels.”
“But you could just ask me!” Rosy huffed while puffing up her cheeks. “I don’t see the point but if you just asked, I would turn them over.”
The priest sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose as he shook his head. “You do not understand child. The nature of the Rings… If we do not strike you the energies binding them to this world will not be released.”
“Hrmm~!” Her cheeks growing redder and larger as she tried to keep in her anger, Rosy eventually let it all go with a sigh. “I still don’t see the point. Rings are helpful.”
“They are an accursed thing child. Were you not taught this already?”
“I’ve been taught plenty of times, but where I’m from Rings are just accepted as normal and used to keep everyone connected.”
“It’s hard to fathom such a distant land exists,” the priest scoffed and again Rosy’s cheeks puffed up in frustration. It was unlikely she would get anywhere with the priest and soon headed off, though not without pulling down on an eyelid and sticking her tongue out at him when he was not looking.
~I know making faces at the priest wasn’t going to help me, but he was such a jerk I had to do something. He also wasn’t why I had traveled to Jutting Rock Village either. Though it wasn’t like I could just walk around town and stumble onto the source of the rumors. Not that I didn’t want to walk around town. Tee-hee~♫
~No one knew where the ancient ruin had come from, or even what it was built for. The town itself had been built on it sometime in the past and even past Ring Shifts had not dislodged it. That afforded the town a sort of fun atmosphere as no one was scared of losing their homes. Windmills adorned various streets and stairwells that threaded through the ruin and high up to it’s upper reaches. The stone slab road seemed kind of silly compared to the colorful pebbly roads of the town. Trees growing out of the side of the ruin were amazing to see to. And it wasn’t just the ruin either, everything had plants of some kind or another covering it. The moss and flowers were my favorites, though some of the vines looked like they could lead me to interesting places. It was the type of town I could get happily lost in so easily. Fortunately for me I was kind of famous in a way, tee-hee~!~
     “Excuse me miss.”
“Hm?” Rosy tilted her head back as someone called from among the busy market stall lined street. Turning fully around to see if she could figure out who called her, a young human man with pasty skin tumbled out of the crowd holding a cloth to his sweaty brow. He was well dressed as though he worked for someone important but seemed terribly flustered and worn out. “Did you call me?”
Walking to the man as he braced himself on his knees Rosy clasped her hands behind her back and began to sway absent mindedly.
“Y-yes!” The man exclaimed between gasping breathes. He was obviously not in good shape and Rosy felt sorry for him.
“I hope I didn’t upset you at all,” Rosy somewhat apologized as she looked him over curiously. He did not appear to be a threat, but alone as she was in a strange land Rosy could not afford to be too careful. She was sure though that it was more likely him that needed help rather than her and offered him such. “Maybe I could help you out?”
“P-p-please! If you would be so kind miss.”
Scratching her cheek Rosy laughed nervously. “Well, if it isn’t too much I guess.”
~I have a love of fortune telling and keep a deck of tarot cards with me, my oldest friends really, so I knew before I ever arrived that today would be fortunate. The silly man who called out to me was a servant of an old man who saw me from his bedroom window while I was wandering around town. His reason for wanting to see me was kind of sad though, even if it was fortunate for me.~
Tumblr media
“AH~! It’s really everyone! I can’t believe it!” Rosy eyes shimmered with joy at the framed picture of her and her friends on a bedside table in a plush and cozy room of a well-off sapient owl. In material wealth at least. Looking from the table to the venerable owl who lay in his bed watching her with eyes that had almost lost all sight to an unsightly white film, Rosy’s tail stopped wagging and she calmed herself down. “If you don’t mind me asking, where did you get it?”
“It’s a funny story,” the owl breathed, smiling at Rosy. “My son came across it and thought you were perhaps performers. It has been some time since I’ve watched any and he thought it would cheer me up bound to bed as I am. Imagine my surprise when I saw you walking by garbed as you are. The way you carried yourself It was obvious that you were no performer, but rather a traveler. Such a curious outfit for that lifestyle.”
“Well, it’s kind of multipurpose,” Rosy laughed embarrassed. “I can run, and tumble, and swim in it, and it’s so pretty too. Though I don’t remember how I got it anymore, just that I wear it when I travel…”
A sad smile came to Rosy’s face and she kicked at the carpeted floor as she clasped her hands behind her back. She was not one to dwell on sorrows though and thought she would cheer up the old owl instead. “But, while I’m not a performer I tell fortunes as a hobby and could tell you yours if you’d like. Or maybe I could try to perform a little bit. I’m pretty acrobatic and good at tumbling and somersaults and twirling!”
“Why that would be delightful! Yes, I would like that very much!”
~And so, I did my best to entertain the kindly old owl. He was so much nicer than the pirate owl who was chasing me and my friends. And maybe it was his age or health, but it was his son’s fortune he wanted to know and not his. I’m glad it was a good one too as it made him so happy.
~I ended up staying in town for another day or so trying to figure out how I could ask him for the picture. It would help so much in finding everyone, but it made him so happy to imagine us being traveling performers that I couldn’t just take it from him. But I didn’t need to.
~His house servant found me again while I let myself get lost in town. He was really sad too as the old owl had passed away. His last request of his house servant was to let me have the picture so I could find my friends. It was just like my cards had foretold. I would be very fortunate in Jutting Rock Village. But why did the old owl have to die?
~No matter how many times I’ve watched the sun rise and set I know I haven’t aged a day. Is it because I interact with the Rings in this strange land? It doesn’t make sense. I don’t know. But I do know I don’t want to waste the old owl’s gifts. He wanted me to find my friends and so I will. With the help of the picture he gave me.~
“But I wonder who made it?” Rosy pondered aloud as she walked along the stone slab road that led from Jutting Rock Village. “I know we didn’t have time to make a picture after we took it, so how?”
Pulling the folded photograph from one of the puffy shoulders of her leotard, Rosy finally noticed writing on the back.
     “This is–!”
-If you’re reading this Rosy-lass, consider it a gift from your friend, Mach Frog Gill. Though really, just me tossing fortunes to the wind and hoping it’ll indebt you to me instead. I could always use help gathering more Rings.-
“What do you even need Rings for Gill?” Rosy laughed and wiped away the tears welling in her eyes. “No one likes them to begin with that I’ve met. Ooh~! I guess I’ll just have to find you too so I can ask!”
Her mind made up, and a clue to finding someone she knew in hand, Rosy picked up her pace and soon was speeding along at a pace that would take her to distant lands in hours. Her next adventure had begun, and she would chase it to the ends of the world.
Scene 16 · CLEARED Rosy the Traveler, End
-----
And there we are, the first episode of Rosy the Traveler. I hope everyone enjoyed this tinier and more intimate style of adventure with the dual narrator approach. And perhaps it’s a bit of a sad story, but I really hope everyone enjoyed it all the same and will look forward to the next episode.
Thank you everyone!
