Aftershock Day 2 recap!!
First, the bands I saw: Set It Off, Motionless In White, Falling In Reverse, Apocalyptica, Gwar, and Kiss
My dad and I had planned to see Archetypes Collide, but we ended up getting to the venue too late due to a bad parking situation. Rather than catch the last 10 minutes of their set, we opted to get close for Set It Off. Set It Off was SO MUCH FUN! I was jumping and singing for most of their set. Cody has soooo much energy, and it definitely pumped up the crowd. I touched the setlist when he threw it, but wasn't able to catch it 😭. I'm so sad about that. My dad was close to catching a drum stick, but would've had to (in his words) "push some Ashley sized chicks", and he understandably didn't want to be an aggressive jerk.
It was so damn hot during Motionless In White. Totally worth it though. Luckily, the crowd was fairly chill where I was, so there wasn't any extra body heat or sweat being transferred lol. I was disappointed they didn't perform Voices, but they covered Somebody Told Me by The Killers, and that was really cool! I had a good time during them, despite trying not to be too active to preserve my energy. My biggest issue was that there was a little kid on someone's shoulders, and crowdsurfers kept getting pushed toward him. The kid got kicked! I was so pissed to see that. The kid ended up leaving the crowd, and I felt so bad. Beyond that, because I feel like this paragraph is just complaints, I had a great time!! Chris Motionless is awesome, so just seeing him again was nice. We got a lot closer this time too!
My dudes. Falling In Reverse was incredible. I've been wanting to see them for years. They were at the festival one of the other years I went, but I was out voted and didn't get to see them. I went HARD for them. I was screaming all of the lyrics, jumping around like crazy, and headbanging majorly. I was soooo drained after their set, but it was entirely worth it. I had an amazing time. The band sounded great, and I enjoyed how they interacted with the crowd. It was also fun to hear my dad yelling along to a couple songs. I was trying to recover a little during Voices In My Head, because I was super sweaty and not feeling 100%, but then I heard my dad yelling every lyric behind me. He's a really recent fan, so I was glad he had such a good time as well.
Omg Apocalyptica was insane. As a cellist, I just have to say those dudes are gods. I was in awe of them. I love the band, but seeing them live took my love to another level. I actually stood their with my jaw dropped for a minute, because I couldn't believe the talent I was witnessing. They were also the only band in the last 2 days that I saw with my brother, so it was nice to be able to experience that with him.
My dad and I took a break to eat and sit down after Apocalyptica. Afterwards, we decided to check out Gwar. They always draw huge crowds, and we've heard that their performances are insane. We were disappointed to say the least. For one, we just weren't super into their gimmick. Like they looked cool, but the theme of their songs and conversations didn't vibe with us. They also made really tasteless commentary about Ukraine, so we left. We will not being checking them out again should they return to the festival.
Kiss was tonight's headliner. I am admittedly not a Kiss fan. I went in with fairly low expectations. Sorry to my Kiss mutuals. They surprised me. The crowd was really into it, and they had a good vibe. I definitely am not a converted fan by any means. I will likely never willingly listen to their music again, but I didn't hate what I heard. I also had a really good view of the stage despite my dad and I making no effort to actually get into the crowd. I watched about half of the set before leaving. Honestly I only stayed that long because my dad was clearly having a great time, and I didn't wan to ruin that. My feet were tired though, and everyone around us was smoking. Even with my mask, I couldn't stop coughing. I ended up leaving and hanging out with my brother. That was way more enjoyable.
Highs and lows of Kiss: The guitar solos were cool! Solos aren't too common of an occurrence, especially such long ones, so I liked them. On the flip side, I hated just about everything related to Gene Simmons. His tongue, and everything he did with it, grossed me out. He had so much saliva dripping from his mouth and from his microphone. It was disgusting.
Lastly, some photos. In order: Set It Off, Chris Motionless from Motionless In White, Paul Stanley from Kiss (the band was so difficult to photograph!! They're too bright!!), the backdrop from Falling In Reverse, the stage set up with pyro warnings for Kiss.

Survey #311
“somebody told me you had a boyfriend who looked like a girlfriend that i had in february of last year.”
What is something that is so awful it gives you pain in your teeth? Extremely sweet and/or cold treats. What is something you would like to teach someone? I love educating people about meerkats, snakes, tarantulas, opossums... lots of animals. What is something people tend to come to you about? For me to take pictures for them. What is something you would be willing to gamble? I don't mess with that. What's something you're absolutely 100% sure about yourself? Uhhh that I really like creating things and just being artistic. How often do you self-reflect? Probably too much, really. When was the last time you realized that you were the problem, if ever? I feel like a problem now, still living with and financially depending on my mom. If applicable, what's the furthest you've traveled because of a hobby? Ha, Mom and I got lost driving one day looking for roadkill for me to photograph (that will always feel weird saying) and wound up pretty far north from home, kinda close to Virginia. It was a fun afternoon/evening. What are some sights around the world you would like to see some day? I'm honestly not crazy about pursuing ancient architecture, but I'd take the opportunity for some if I could, especially in Egypt. OH! Venice would be cool, and whatever that city is with the umbrella "ceiling" layer outside. Do you have souvenirs from other countries? If so, what and from where? No. Apart from sleeping, name something you enjoy doing in bed: Sit on my laptop or read. Do you believe in ghosts? Yeah, or at least something of the sort. Do you stay friends with your exes? Girt and I are close friends, while the others I don't have contact with. Not because we're on bad terms (I may be w/ Jason, but I think our last meeting was freeing for both of us and distilled any remaining tension), we just don't talk. Have you ever been awake for 48 hours straight? Pretty sure no, I'd crash. Do you have a secret that no one knows but you? One or two. Do you hate the person you fell hardest for? No. How many pregnant people do you know? Good Lord, a lot. People are bored in quarantine apparently lmao. Who was the last person to play with your hair? Myself, outta boredom, kinda just twirling it. Have you ever seen the inside of a computer? Yeah. ^If yes, can you name any of the components? I could probably identify the motherboard. If you could get a new phone right now, would you/which kind? I would. Idk what kind, though; I'm not very familiar with what's up-to-date. Have you ever cut your own hair? No. If you had the chance, would you start your life entirely over? No. How old is the eldest member of your family? I don't know really, given both pairs of my grandparents are dead. Probably some aunt or uncle on Mom's side. I don't remember their birth order. Do you drink the milk from the bowl after you eat all the cereal? No, it grosses me out for whatever reason. UNLESS it's after a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, then I'll drink it. Do you know anybody who has had an online relationship? Yeah, me, and some others. One thing that your guy best friend doesn't like about you: He's never told me about something he doesn't like, so I can't speak for him. How about your girl best friend? Ummm you'd have to ask her, too. Do you loan your friends money? *recites the usual financial woe story* Are you taller than your siblings? No. Do you have “photoshoots” with your friends/family members? Definitely not regularly by any means. Are you generous? If you ignore monetary generosity for obvious reasons, I think I am in other ways. Are you afraid of lizards? No no no, I love those tiny lil dinosaur boiz and gorls!!!!! :''') Ahhh, I want a tegu especially one day. How legible is your signature? It's perfectly legible, imo. How hot are your neighbors? I don't even know my neighbors. Well, Mom's spoken to the woman to our left more than once if they were both outside, but I know she's an older woman whose appearance I never really noted, but regardless, I know I wasn't attracted to her. Do you play Pokemon Go? If so, what level are you and who's your buddy? Yeah, I can finally play it regularly since they began offering a daily box with a few items in it, like the balls. I'm not checking, but I think I'm like... around 23? My buddy is Charmeleon because I love love loooove that evolution line and absolutely want a Charizard ASAP. :') What's the most daring thing you have ever done? I guess that would be the story about how I challenged my rather intense fear of fair rides that can trouble the stomach by going on whatever the thing's called where you slowly go very high up and then drop down abruptly. Yeah yeah yeah, I was safe the whole time, but it was daring by my standards, haha. Have you ever thought about getting your nose pierced? It's been pierced twice already; the first time it closed while I was in the psych hospital and had to take it out, and the second one I just gave up with it after I kept losing them in my sleep and they just fell into the fucking void or something because I could never find them come morning. I eventually had none left to replace those I'd lost. And yes, I wore the curved types, they still just came out somehow???? Probably didn't help that I sleep like, ON my face sometimes, but... lol. I've been thinking of doing it one more time, but this time with a hoop ring. Nostril piercings are just really cute to me. Has someone of the opposite sex ever told you that you were sexy? Somehow. Are you friends with your best friend’s boyfriend or girlfriend? She's single. Do you have tan lines? HA. Absolutely not. Not even in the summer. Have you ever kissed anyone with a lip piercing? Yeah, he had snake bites. Has anyone told you they were in love with you? Yeah. Have you ever seen a bald eagle in person? Yes. Have you ever been vomited on? What about in vice versa? Oh my fucking god no, don't even make me imagine it. What is one family member you wish you were closer to? My sisters. When and where did you lose your virginity? Since then, what was the longest time you've ever gone without sex? I dunno, his bed or mine when I was maybe like 16 or 17. Been many years. What is your biggest fear about making a total commitment to someone? That I'll experience heartbreak again. Do you think that your life is exciting enough to be made into a movie? Do you think anybody would actually enjoy it if it were a movie? lol fuuuuck no If you were the opposite sex, would you be attracted to you? I don't know? If I was a different person, I'd obviously have unique tastes, too. Have you ever walked around your house naked? Oh no, I'm way too uncomf for that. Do you prefer profile pictures of you by yourself or with someone else? Me by myself. Did it bother you to find out that Santa, the Easter Bunny, and the Toothfairy were not real? Not really, no. I'd been suspicious about it for a long time anyway. Is there a food that you only recently started to like? If so, what is it and when did you start liking it? How often do you try again foods you don't like to see if your tastes have changed? Hm... I'm unsure about "recently." I'm not very adventurous with food at all, so the answer for the last part is not often at all. Who would you NOT want to read the surveys you've posted on here? What would most likely happen if they did read it? Is there anyone you actually wish would read your survey answers but doesn't? Probably my therapist lmaoo. It'd spark some concern, especially regarding my PTSD, for him to be able to see "wow, she is deeply scarred." I don't really "wish" anyone else would read them, other than the occasional answer I wish He Who Shall Not Be Named could hear. Do you watch Glee? If so, which song do you want to hear on there that they have not yet done? If not, which TV show do you think has the best soundtrack? I don't watch it. The answer is obviously Supernatural, like good good shit right thar. Do you think you would be able to pull off a crime perfectly, without being caught? What about other lies? For example, cheating on your partner without getting caught? Would you be able to get away with it? Ha, hell no. I'm way too clumsy in more ways than physical and would overlook so many details. And I wouldn't WANT to get away with cheating on my partner, thanks. Do you know anyone who has divorced and remarried the same person? What do you/would you think of someone who does that? I don't think I do, and it's not really my business, but I'd have silent doubts, probably, depending on why they split. Do you say goodnight to anybody before you go to bed? If so, does it feel weird if you go to bed without saying it to them? I say goodnight to my snake Venus; even if she's in her hide, I say it when I walk past her terrarium. It probably wouldn't feel weird not to, but I want to, even though she can't even hear me lmao. How do you react when you're scared? Do you scream, jump, cover your eyes, etc.? I am VERY jumpy, tend to gasp easily, and sometimes scream if I'm seriously scared. Who is the best storyteller you know? What do you find best about their storytelling? Is there an interesting story of theirs you'd like to share? I don't know. Do you strongly dislike (or even hate) any bands or musical artists? If so, what caused such a strong negative emotion towards them? Not for purely their music, that's just stupid, but I could certainly dislike artists for what they do as people. For example, I haven't looked into it whatsoever, so it could be a load of bull, but I know Manson recently had some sexual misconduct or assault allegations rise against him, and honestly, I'd believe it. He's one of my favorite artists (emphasis on the "art"), but definitely not high on my list of favorite people and keeps doing things that are making me lose more and more respect for him. Then there's Otep... again, one of my favorite musical artists. I agree with a good handful of her values, but she is nevertheless an absolute holier-than-thou, intolerant bitch. I don't like her as a person. Do your parents have any collections? If so, what do you think of those collections? Dad collects Cleveland Browns and Carolina Hurricanes stuff; it's all over his "mancave." I don't have an opinion on them. Do you have a favourite role of Johnny Depp's? If you don't like him, what is your favourite role of an actor you like? I'm not familiar enough with all his acting roles for this, but I know he's incredibly good at what he does. If you were in a competition to win your dream prize, and you were allowed to decide what the competition would be (trivia about your favourite band, a foot race, singing, etc.) , what would you choose and why? Uhhhh maybe facts about meerkats? Reason being it's something I'm honestly very knowledgeable about. What is your least favourite thing about the English language? Are there any other languages you prefer besides English? It breaks its own "rules" ALL the time. If I was fluent in German, then I might actually prefer it. There are many parts to the German language that make it very precise and clear what and whom you are addressing (ex., there are two different "you"s for singular and plural usage); the only real downside I see to German is the sentence structure is odd, but then again, I mean, it does encourage active listening to get all the parts of a sentence you need to understand what is being said. Would you be upset if a long-term partner confessed that they had committed a serious crime before you met? How do you think it would affect your relationship? Hm. I guess it would depend on the crime? I sure wouldn't be happy hearing they committed an as you said serious crime, but I'd have to consider if there were other red flags for danger going on, again, if it wasn't massive in my eyes. Do you enjoy watching the special features found on most DVDs? What do you usually enjoy more: the deleted scenes, the bloopers, the audio commentary, or the behind-the-scenes footage? I have to be seriously into whatever I'm watching to explore these. I do love me some bloopers, though. Was there something you were afraid of as a child that just seems silly to you now? I had that usual "monster (or in my case, skeleton) in the closet" fear. Have you ever had a crush but then found out he’s gay? Almost positive my puppydog-love middle school bf actually is gay. I also had a crush on a closeted gay guy for a little bit that same school year. Nowadays he is so open about his sexuality and even does drag, and he's great at it! It's wonderful seeing how far he's come in his confidence. Would you ever be a porn star? What'd your name be? Oh no, hunny. Does blood make you squeamish? No. What's your favorite Pokemon? Ninetales. <3 I also have a very soft spot for Charmander, though. What was the last event to cause you any sort of heartache? My older sister got in a wreck yesterday because some impatient bitch ran a red light. She's fine but did break her clavicle and is going to be using a sling for probably a few months. It was definitely upsetting to hear about. What do you do when you like someone? I tend to get very shy around them, more than I naturally am, and smile a lot. I try to stay in contact with the person, and it's maybe a 60/40 chance I'll wait for them to make the move versus me, but I've done it. Do you mind if people just show up at your house unannounced? YEAH. Especially as someone who needs to mentally prepare for company, don't do this. Do you enjoy rain? To a degree. If it hangs around too long, it affects my depression. I LOVE going to sleep to rain pattering on the window, though. You love Jesus, yes? I don't believe he was a bad person; quite the opposite, actually, but I don't "love" him. I won't go too deep into why just because I'm not in the mood to offend people today lmao. Who’s your favorite person in the whole world? My mom. She's my rock. How many different beverages have you had in the last 24 hours? Just water and Mountain Lightning (a Mountain Dew ripoff for us poor folk, haha). Oh wait, I did have a meal replacement shake for lunch yesterday, I think? Or that might have been the day before... How many brothers does your father have? None, unless I've seriously forgotten him having one. He only has a sister, to my knowledge. What kind of camera do you use? I have a Canon EOS Rebel T6. If you could change you name, what would you change it to? I wouldn't. 25 years with a name I quite like has worked out fine. What was the last song you listened to in the car? Uhhh it was "Drugs" by Mother Mother, I think. Are you the youngest, oldest, middle, or only child? I'm the middle child between my parents. What's the best thing about the place you currently live? Hm. I would say for practicality's sake that we're very close to pretty much everything, but seeing as I enjoy long car rides... With that in mind, I'd say who our landlord is. She's a very close family friend who is very understanding of our financial position, so pretty forgiving with some things. Do you eat breakfast daily? Yessss, I need breakfast to start my day off. Can you hear anyone talking right now? No, just singing. I'm listening to Motionless In White's cover of "Somebody Told Me" by The Killers. What's your favorite flavor of ramen? I solely enjoy the spicy pork bowl by Yakisoba. I've never had another I've liked. I lived off that shit in the apartment. I guess what they say about college kids is true, haha. Never realized that. When was the last time you had a bowl of soup? What flavor? Back when I got my snake eyes tongue piercing, I tried vegetable soup only to find I didn't like it anymore. Do you have any tinned foods in your cupboard at the moment? Yeah, lots. I couldn't name 'em all, besides like, diced pineapple, corn, and beans. We always have those. What was the last food item that you tried for the first time? On Thanksgiving, I was actually brave with food for once and tried that sweet potato dish that's topped with marshmallow, and it was okay. I never liked sweet potato before, and while I couldn't eat a lot of it, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Does anyone in your family have green eyes? No. What was the name of your first ever pet? I was born into my family with a beautiful collie named Trigger, but I have zero recollection of her because she passed away from old age when I was very young. My first personal pet was either my guinea pig Squeak or Chinese water dragon Shadow (no, I have no idea why I named a green lizard that); I can't remember who came first. I adored them both. I feel so bad looking back though, I was so uninformed on how to properly care for a water dragon that she (or he, we were never sure) was, as far as correct husbandry goes, horribly taken care of and stunted from having a tank too small. I consider myself lucky she seemed to really trust me and loved being held, even sleeping on me, and she did live out her full lifespan. I was lucky; please, please, never adopt a reptile until you are properly educated on their unique care. Where was the last place you went out for lunch? What did you order? Mom bought me McDonald's a few days back because I was really craving it. I had a double cheeseburger and for once large fries, because that's what I was seriously wanting. I usually get small or medium. Where was the last place you went for an evening meal? What did you order? I feel bad and selfish for breaking my own "stay the fuck home but for emergencies" rule, but my mom, one of my sisters, and I went out to the Cheesecake Factory for my birthday. I think I ate a chicken sandwich with Chipotle sauce? I actually don't remember for sure. I do however remember the cheesecake I got: some cinnamon swirl one that was fucking glorious. Oh yeah, and we had an appetizer of these pretzel ball things dipped in fondue. I ate waaaay too much, but it was a special occasion, so whatever. Have you Googled anything today? What? I ensured I spelled "clavicle" correctly. Yaaaay, I did. What do you like to eat for breakfast these days? Special K cereal, a sandwich, sometimes those pancake & sausage on a stick things I mentioned at some point in the last survey I think, or a Jimmy Dean breakfast bowl. Maybe other stuff I'm just not thinking of. Is anyone in your family a nurse? No, but I have family in the medical field. Do you like to wear lipstick? What colors do you think suit you best? Not really, no, but I will sometimes for pictures. It smudges too easily yet is also hard and annoying to get off. I only really wear black. Who was the last person to recommend a book to you? My therapist recommended a book for the whole PHP group, but I can't remember what it was. Something self-care related. Who was the last person to tease or joke around with you, in a friendly way? I wouldn't be surprised if it was Tobey, the "family friend" I mention a lot. She probably said something technically rude that she thought was an appropriate joke. Is there a jar of peanut butter in your house? Yeah, always. Does anyone you know own a tabby cat? How about a cocker spaniel? Tabbies are very common, so yes. I don't think I know anyone with a pure cocker spaniel, but my late dog's mother was one. Do you have blinds or curtains in your bedroom? What colour are they? I have those slanted blinds that you can close by pushing them upwards or downwards with a stick thing. They're white. What was the last beverage you tried for the first time? Some form of juice I wasn't a fan of. Orange and peach, I think? Who was the last person that said you were beautiful? I think a friend on Facebook when I changed my profile picture. Is/are your pet(s) fixed? My cat is neutered, but obviously my ball python isn't. Roman would mark the house like crazy before we got him fixed... but even if he didn't, we still would have done it. Please make spaying/neutering your cats and dogs a financial investment priority. If you do the research, you would marvel over the "damage" especially one fertile cat can cause. Hell, my childhood experience with cats is enough proof of that.

Ice Nine Kills,Black Veil Brides and Motionless In White Bring The Trinity of Terror Tour to Buffalo, NY
One of metalcores most anticipated tours arrived at Buffalo Riverworks in Buffalo, NY on Monday. This sold out show featured co-headliners Ice Nine Kills, Black Veil Brides and Motionless In White. Along with a series of costume changes, props and all things horror, it was easy to see why fans arrived at 9:30am to secure a front row spot. With all three co-headliners equally represented by the crowd, I could tell this tour was going to be one of the best of 2022.
Opening for the Trinity of Terror Tour was Lilith Czar. If that name doesn’t sound familiar try Juliet Simms. Simms gave herself a whole new sound, name and image fit for a “king.” Her debut solo album Created from Filth and Dust, released in 2021 was responsible for this new rebirth. Unfortunately, we were able to only catch about 10 mins of Czar’s set due to traffic. That didn’t stop us from enjoying the non-stop energy as Lilith encapsulated the crowd.
Motionless In White came on first and wasted no time grabbing the attention of everyone in Riverworks. The dark and uneasy atmosphere of their sound along with intricate riffs had fans singing along to every word. The emotions in every song paired with the bands heavy roots gave way to an unforgettable start. The band played some of their oldest and most beloved songs before breaking out “Cyberhex.” This song comes off their anticipated upcoming album Scoring The End of the World out on June 10 2022. Paired with a fire wielding dude shooting sparks and a huge Motionless in White flag, the crowd clearly loved every second of the set.
From start to finish Black Veil Brides gave a performance that was unforgettable. Th Los Angeles band played songs from every album including “ Knives and Pens” in which the crowd had the walls of Riverworks shaking. Good luck trying to get close, fans were locked in to Black’s every move. Their raw performance backed by powerful sinister tones made for an awesome set. The best part? Black Veil Brides gave the perfect variety of songs, going back as far as Set the World on Fire, one of their first albums. The incorporation of newer and older songs into their set really set the crowd on fire, catering to both older and newer fans. Horns were up everywhere and a supercharged crowd made sure to mimic every lyric back to the 5-piece band.
Ice Nine Kills was the act that everyone had been waiting for. With the majority of the crowd rocking some kind of INK t-shirt or merch,I knew this was going to be unforgettable set. In the last couple years Ice Nine Kills has really developed into their own. Incorporating horror into every aspect of their bands persona and sound, INK has without a doubt become one of metalcore’s most favored groups. Spencer Charnas wasted no time shuffling between outfit and prop changes. Paying homage to some of the greatest horror films of all time.  Some of my favorite props were the all horror microphone stand including Jason’s mask. Charnas rendition of IT including a Georgie complete with yellow rain jacket and red balloon started  “IT Is The End” of their popular album The Silver Scream and the fake “beheading” that took place really made the crowd scream. You couldn’t deny the fact that this show was entertaining and every horror lovers dream. Ice Nine Kills creates the perfect storm of twisted, dark metal core breakdowns along with unique and catchy chords.
Overall this show was absolutely amazing. Not only was it visually appealing but every song by all three co-headliners was played to perfection. The Trinity of Terror Tour runs until April 27th so make sure to secure some tickets to the show. Planning on getting to the front? Make sure to be there bright and early to beat the crowd. You won’t want to miss any of this show!

CONCERT ALERT: 2 SHADOWS AT VENUE
Tumblr media
It shouldn't be news to anyone that Vancouver has an abundance of musical talent. Indeed, for that reason alone you could be forgiven for being unaware of local metal band 2 Shadows, who are carving a unique place for themselves in the scene with solid tunes and a welcome brand of visual showmanship.
Tracks like “Ill Treatment,” “We Bleed the Same” and “Like a Revolver” are perfect examples of 2 Shadows at their songwriting best – clean vocals and melodic riffs skillfully intertwined over a layer of grit. With members whose influences range from Five Finger Death Punch, Motionless in White and Pantera, all the way to the cinematically evocative stylings of Danny Elfman, this is a band to keep your eyes on.
We chatted with the band – lead vocalist Dana Kempf, lead guitarist Tryst Germaine, rhythm guitarist Broden Eagles, bassist Mike Horvath and drummer Wade Nicholl – about growing as musicians, connection with lyrics, and differing eras of music.
In your video FAQ from earlier this year you mentioned having sacrificed a lot in choosing this path for yourselves; what would you say is the single most positive moment each of you have had as a result of becoming a musician?
Dana: Nobody has peaked, there's still so much room to grow.
Tryst: As a kid just learning how to play guitar, I never would have thought I would of ended up where I am with band mates from all over the countryside that have become my best friends and brothers, and as a collective would stop at nothing to make our dreams become a reality.
Mike: Being able to stand on a stage and see all of you hard work finally being appreciated and having people react positively to everything you've worked for.
Broden: Finally growing to see that I have more potential in music than in anything else, and more potential then I ever knew I had.
Wade: Getting to talk and interact with so many different people in and among the music scene. As someone who's always been pretty shy, becoming a musician sort of forced me to talk to and meet all sorts of neat and interesting people, and really pushed me into being a lot more social.
What is the biggest obstacle you've had to face as a band?
The financial burden that is always hanging over our heads, as it is very costly to run a band.   Is there a personal favorite 2 Shadows song that each of you have, and is there a reason for it?
Dana - '1975.' It's love and hate for me. The lyrics are so haunting. It deals with an emotional scab that I have never gotten over so I can honestly give the most honest performance and truly feel the lyrics live.
Tryst - 'We Bleed The Same.' Coming from a small town and looking like I do, isn't a very good mix. The song really hits and reminds me that is doesn't matter what people think of me because we all bleed the same.
Mike - 'We Bleed The Same.' It's got a lot of energy, it's fast, it has good lyrics, the chorus is really catchy and it is just a lot of fun to play on stage.
Broden - 'A False Awakening.' It's fun to play live and the melody, I cant resist.
Wade - '1975.' I love the energy and the flow of It, I love how tight we play it, and I love how hard the breakdowns hit.
You guys are doing something very unique and refreshing as far as the local scene; why do you feel Vancouver bands haven't really touched upon the visual aspect when so many have been inspired by musicians who do exactly that?
We are just the band we always wanted to be. The whole package, musical with visuals.

Is there a moment or lyric in any song, by any artist or composer, that never fails to hit you every time?
Dana: Probably the break to ‘Faget’ by KoЯn. There's just something about the raw and emotional ‘fuck you’ to everyone who doubted, or mistreated you. "To a world that never appreciated shit, you can suck my dick and fucking like it!" Every time I hear it I think, Fuck Yeah! You said it JD.
Tryst: "I've been to hell and back, with no promise of return. So I made friends with fire, to keep from getting burned. No money, no sleep. Dedication 10 years on the road this is sacred. And when I’m facing a wall, I do not quit.... Cause if you mean it, you will make it."
Mike: "It's like there's cancer in my blood, it's like there's water in my lungs, and I can't take another step, please tell me I am not undone, it's like there's fire in my skin, and I'm drowning from within, I can't take another breath, please tell me I am not undone." As someone who struggles with anxiety, I can't think of any lyric I relate to more.
Broden: "Lets go honey, One last time, One more fight before we say goodbye, This is how it's gonna be (How you wanted it)."
Wade: "Just open your eyes, Just open your eyes and see that life is beautiful. Will you swear on your life, That no one will cry at my funeral?
If you could have been born in a different generation and witnessed a particular era of musical history, which would it have been and why?
Dana: I don't think I would rather grow up in any other time. Sure you have your influences, but I have always wrote lyrics about my life and that's what is so great and special about it. I've always been a leader, not a follower.
Tryst: It would have been cool to live through the 80s from what I hear, but to be honest I am happy in current times being a musician.
Mike: I would have loved to have been around for the 80's. Motley Crue is and always will be one of my favorite bands, and to be able to witness tours like Shout At The Devil, Theatre of Pain and Girls Girls Girls would be absolutely legendary. As well as being able to see Metallica in their prime.
Broden: I love the generation of music we have nowadays, but living the 70"s and early 80"s life style would have been where I fit in most. With how the lyrics flowed and actually told a story, will always be something I wish I could have lived through. Music speaks to people, but back then that's all somebody like myself would of had.
Wade: I'll go with early 90s. I really would have enjoyed witnessing real grunge first hand, and rhcp put out One Hot Minute, which I would have loved to seen toured.
What are you currently working on, and what can everyone expect to see from you in the near future?
When you’re a musician you never stop writing and working. We always put in the effort to improve and outdo ourselves like any artist should. We have lots of touring coming this summer and for everything else, you'll just have to stay tuned!

“heaven ain’t close in a place like this”
What color are your eyes? Grayish blue. What's your favorite type of milk? If we're talking the basics, ig 1% is fine. What would you change about your appearance if you could? Oh, hunny, you got time for an essay? What would you change about your bedroom if you could? I need to fucking finish decorating it... It's not finished by no fault but my own laziness. Are you rich or poor? We're definitely pretty poor. Are you double jointed? I don't think so. What's the most physically painful thing you've ever experienced? I once had a large infected cyst that had to be drained by applying pressure to it, and I swear to Christ I don't know how I didn't faint. They gave me morphine and multiple numbing shots, but none of that did SHIT. I'm not even embarrassed by the fact I was shrieking and sobbing and swearing because I'm pretty fucking sure any sane person would've cried out many times. I'm convinced they either didn't numb me enough for someone of my size back then, or I should've just gone under for it. I have no words for how painful it really was. Do you like shots? Uh, given that nobody LIKES getting a shot with a needle, I'm going to assume you mean like, taking shots of alcohol, in which case I've never tried, but I can almost absolutely guarantee you I'd hate them. I hate the taste of alcohol (hence why I only drink sweet and weak stuff), sooooo, I've got my doubts I'd enjoy something so potent. Are you afraid of spiders? Yes and no? Small ones don't tend to get to me, and I LOVE tarantulas. Big spiders are absolutely fascinating and I love *watching* them, but if I was surprised by a sudden spider, I'm going to probably cry out and jump/scramble away. But on a real note, respect your spiders, whether they scare you or not. They are so important to the ecosystem. See one in the house, take it outside if you can. Have you ever had an allergic reaction to something? To some earrings, yes. I have to wear ones that don't have silver in them. Do you like to read? Yeah, but not nearly as much as I did as a kid. I'm even slacking on WoF lately... Do you know what your purpose in life is? *SLAMS FISTS ON TABLE* BITCH I WISH I KNEW What's something you would like to improve at? Not being a socially anxious catastrophe. Do you believe you have great potential? Everybody does. You just have to use it. What is the most beautiful scenery you have ever beheld? Probably the mountains when driving to Tennessee. Or New York? I really can't recall either so clearly as to have a favorite. Are you flexible? Noooot anymore. Back in my WiiFit days, I was a gotdamn snake. List a song lyric that you like. Oh Jesus, don't make me think. Uhhhhh there's so many. Flipping through artists in my head with lyrics I tend to love, there's Otep with: "hey, hey, NRA, how many kids did you kill today?". Simple, but spine-chilling to me. Huh, time to listen to it actually, lol. That song murders me with the goosebumps. Do you meditate? No; I can't. You can't tell me to "free my mind," man. It's way too hectic at all times up there. What's one place you've been to that you want to visit again? I'd love to go back to Chicago one night when I actually learn how to do nighttime urban photography. What's one place you want to go that you've never visited before? I always answer "South Africa" to questions like this, so for variety's sake, I'll say the Bahamas. But a conspiratory bitch is afraid of the Bermuda Triangle, so... lmao. What's your favorite type of tree? I like big, impressive weeping willows. How many times have you seriously injured yourself? Only two occasions I can think of immediately. Maybe there's more, but idk. Did you attend Sunday School as a child? Yeah, even though I hated it. What is the longest your hair has ever been? Maybe a little passed the small of my back? What about the shortest? (not including being a toddler or baby): How it is now and has been for a couple years: shaved short on the left side, and it transitions to a length near my chin as you go to the right. Have you ever smoked a cigarette? No. Are/were you in the school band, and if so, what instrument did you play? I did, and I played the flute. I'd choose the saxophone if I could go back. Who does the grocery shopping in your household? Well, it's just Mom and me, so her. If you were to donate to charity today, what would you donate to? One that focuses on ovarian cancer for Mom. What is your favorite card game and when was the last time you played it? Even though I was never great at it or knew every single rule, "Magic: The Gathering" is honestly really fun, and I loved looking at the card art. I haven't played it since I was with Jason, so at least five-six years. Would you consider yourself to be good at spelling and grammar? Yeah, but I've somehow gotten worse with time???? I question the spelling and tenses of words I write a lot. What is your favourite seasonal candy? (only available at certain times): Probably like, chocolate rabbits. NOT hollow. Way to break my heart. Or gingerbread cookies. What was the last chocolate bar you ate? I think a Hershey's? It was a while ago. Who was the last person you talked to on Skype/video chat? I was in a Zoom session with multiple people for my partial hospitalization program. Have you ever dreamt about sleeping with someone other than your partner? If so, did that make you feel embarrassed? I've never had a dream like this while in a relationship. The last time you had butterflies in your stomach, what was the reason? I have no idea. Has anyone told you that they miss you recently? No. Has anyone ever asked you out or told you that they liked you, and you rejected them? Can you explain why you didn’t like, or didn’t feel attracted to that person? There was this one guy in the 4th grade who asked me if I would go out with him so much it almost became like a joke. I just... didn't like him like that. Then there's Juan; I'd just been warned that he had a bad rep by a very reliable adult, and the idea of dating him was kinda... intimidating anyway. Plus he was a smoker, which was and still is a no-no for me. What part in a movie would you love to play? The clinically insane villain or something because I feel with my history, I could channel that very well IF I actually wanted to act in the first place. What piece of furniture have you replaced the most? The couch. What’s the best part of your favorite movie? When Simba walks up Pride Rock in the rain and roars and all the lionesses join in. Chilling. What do you think is the most over-rated candy ever? Candy corn is repulsive. What was the highlight of your day? My mom was raving to one of my therapists in the PHP about my art and how badly she wants me to just get everything out there. I was smiling really big but looking down with how shy but also flattered it made me. Do you know anyone who is anorexic? I don't think so. Who has hurt you the most this year? Ha, myself. What's the last insult someone said to you? Hm. How much did your car cost? N/A What is the last picture you received on your phone of? Uhhh Mom mighta sent me a meme or Sara showed me a drawing someone made of Suriza, I think. Have you ever let someone go because you thought they deserved better? No, though I've felt that way before. Is there anybody you're really disappointed in right now? I'm still not over the fact Dad was a druggie before me and my sisters, apparently. It's almost like... hurtful in some weird way? Idk exactly why, it's just something I know I feel. What do you hear right now? I have Motionless In White's cover of "Somebody Told Me" playing in another tab. Do you do anything to help the environment? I do what I can as someone who isn't financially independent and reliant on another person for transportation. I won't litter for anything (and this includes shit like letting balloons go in the air, fucking stop), I'm trying to use my metal straw always in place of plastic, and to use less plastic bags, I try to spread out the times I clean Roman's litterbox to a few days; not to the point it's disgusting or uncomfortable for him, of course, though. Three days without is pretty much max. When's the last time you did something you knew was wrong? Ha, a little while ago... I was trying to avoid eating the two last biscuits Mom made for dinner 'cuz I really gotta lay off the carbs, but Mom "joked" that "it's your birthday, you get to do whatever you want," so I kinda just said fuck it lmao. Do you think that you have a pretty smile? No, because my eyes squint badly, and I also hate my teeth. When's the last time you cried over a guy? A few days ago a little bit, actually. I was reminiscing too much and recalling some of the warmest memories. Are you scared to lose the person you fell the hardest for? I already did. Oh well. Is there someone you wouldn't mind kissing right now? Yep. Do you have any friends that actually model? No. Do you care about the last person you kissed? A fucking lot. Do they care about you? Yes. Is there someone you wish you were with right now? Yes, just because of past birthday memories. I keep hoping a "happy birthday Britt" pops up in my FB messenger, and I hate myself for it. Have you ever imagined how it would feel kissing a certain someone? I legitimately just huffed in humor, guess, lmao. What are the bad things you've heard people say about you? That I'm a martyr, going nowhere, lazy, not trying hard enough, y'know, all that good stuff. Do you flirt a lot? Definitely not. What phrase or saying do you use the most? Probably "oof" lol. What mood are you in right now? I'm doing pretty all right. Kinda dreading Miss Tobey coming over, mean as it is, but I just... don't wanna deal with her and her judgments on my birthday. But I'm looking forward to seeing my sisters, and therapy went very well. Have you ever kissed someone that was high? No. Do you have a good relationship with your mother? Yep. How many exes do you have? I only consider two exes "serious," as I've only been in two deep and long-term relationships, but if we're counting everyone who's had the label of "boyfriend" or "girlfriend," there's six. Do you want to be single or with someone? Ugh, I don't know. It's probably better I don't 'til I figure my shit out, but I really do miss the companionship a lot. Why did you kiss the last person you kissed? Because I love her and I was leaving her at the airport. Does your mom think you’re a virgin? She doesn't know for the same reason I don't, really. I think she leans towards I am, but idk. Is there someone that wants you to give them a second chance? I don't know. What size bra do you wear? Uhhh I genuinely don't buy bras enough to know this exactly. C-something. Does the person you last kissed still like you? I don't know if she still like-likes me. Are your parents still together? Noooo. Was your first time good or bad? I dated an Italian, if u kno what I mean. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Which friend-turned-enemy do you miss the most? Colleen, sometimes. Have you ever used an epi pen, and it worked? I have not. What is on your top priority list for today? Make this fuckin' day for me. I'm trying to not let the depression sink in and make me feel worthless on today of all days. So I'm trying to stay in a positive headspace. Do you own any sand art in a jar? Omg, those are so cool! But no. Does the sun come in your window in the morning or at night? Not really; there's houses in the way. What was the last piece of art you created? A drawing of a meerkat with its mouth open angrily, done with colored pencils, against a black background. It's on my second dA. What time of day do you take medications? I have prescription meds for when I wake up and at bedtime. What's your newest hobby you've started? A new hobby? Huh... What are some things you wanted to do that your parents didn't let you do? They wouldn't let us stay home alone until a certain age, we had a timer on the TV at bedtime to shut off after a while, we weren't exposed to certain music or shows, no cursing... stuff like that. What YouTube channels do you recommend? This is a BAD question to ask me, 'cuz I could just about recommend channels for just about any niche. I watch soooooo many. What is your favorite day of the week? Tuesday, because it's reset day in WoW, haha. Meaning, I get to do my stupid mount farming raids again for the week. Blackhand, gimme your FUCKING clefthoof already. Ballet or cheerleading? Ballet is beautiful. What are your favorite sports to watch? Only dancing, really. Were you ever in the marching band? No. Which holiday has the best decorations, in your opinion? My contrasting aesthetics make this hard, haha. I love Christmas with all the beautiful light displays people can make, but let's not sleep on Halloween, y'all. I loooove Halloween decor, like c'mon, that's where I get shit for my room year-round, lmao. What do you want to be known for? It'd actually be kinda cool if I built up some sort of rep in the vulture culture community with my photography of roadkill. For how few shots I actually have on there and minimal interaction, my Instagram for it is doing quite well, if you consider those factors. They've gotten some pretty decent attention on dA, too. I would love for people to know why I do it though, of course: awareness and respect for the animal's life. How often do you wear make-up? Almost never nowadays. Think of the person you are jealous of...what are you jealous of them for? She's actually making a career out of her photography. Do you have art that you made in high school? Oh, plenty. Do you have trauma in your past? *clears throat* take a fuckin seat Favorite type of frosting? Chocolate. Have you ever tried cake decorating? No. One of my sisters is actually one, though! She's great at it. What clubs are you a part of? None. What was your favorite book that you had to read for school? The Outsiders. 6th grade, to be exact. Do you like to read classics, or do you usually read new arrivals? I don't prefer one over the other, honestly. Were you a big partier in college? No, I never partied. Is your college one you would recommend? My most recent one, fuck yes. They're amazing and care so deeply for their students. Would you go camping in the woods alone? Yikes, no. Would you name your kids after anyone? If I had a son and I had my way with the name, he would be named after the Most Selfless Man in the World, Damien from WKM. :'''''( Do you have any supernatural gifts? No. Are there any good churches in your town? You're asking someone who has a bad relationship with religion. Do you want an indoor or outdoor wedding? It really depends on the season and venue my spouse and I pick. Do you think you would be a good salesperson? HEEEEEEEEEEEELL NAW fam. I ain't pressuring people to buy shit.
