Laria
the design isn't final (i'm still wrestling with patterns etc and i'm still trying to figure out a color pallet)
Laria's from a little village around an oasis deep in a distant desert. It's a strange village... the people within it seem to have no knowledge of the world outside the desert. All that matters to them is their day to day lives... except for Laria. Laria knows there's something beyond the impassable desert sands, as sure as she knows the earth bird lies in the clam at the bottom of the oasis... and then one day, after a terrible sandstorm, she finds a strange boy in purple unconscious on the outskirts of town.
...in short, Laria is Ravio's Marin!
I've been working since... last november? something like that. It's been a while--on what Lorule's version of history would be like! It's not strictly Lu, though I often structure it that way. If we're talking LU (and Fable-and-Legend-are-Twins-LU), Ravio met Laria in between ALBW and HW, and when he finishes that adventure and discovers himself alone in the desert, he has a rough time. But then he goes to Hyrule Warriors, and meets a girl who reminds him of Laria, and who has an incredibly familiar story... well. Ravio decides he needs to do some snooping in Hyrule. Because if Marin walks in the waking world, then maybe, just maybe, Laria was more than mirage.
On a side note, any guesses as to where I got the name Laria?

This is not an art blog, but I've started to upload more and more of my sketches etc so I figured it might be nice to collect them in one spot so here we are :)

Was thinking about your Laria concept and what you had written about it being Ravio after ALBW but before HW. Absolutely love that concept 💜🤍
Anyway that also got me thinking of "what if it happened before ALBW" and my brain immediately thought up some angsty concepts and now I'm sad /lh /hj
That would be an interesting twist on it! Especially if Legend also did LA before ALBW

Anymore to tell on Ravio’s version of Marin? How did they bond? How close were they really? I’m curious about the little details!
So that depends! There's two versions of the legendarium--the Closer to Canon one and, well, the Marink one. In LU canon it seems like Jojo has no plans for Marin to come back, so Laria, like Marin, remains a memory of a dream.
In the Marink one... well. Laria, in that version, was a girl who got lost in the desert and nearly died but was saved by the Earth Bird's magic. After the Earth Bird woke, Laria ended up on the edge of the desert, and set about wandering, trying to find Ravio. As for afterwards, well, perhaps during the chaos of the War of Ages, Laria might have ended up in another world...
As to their relationship, they bonded over her teaching Ravio how to survive in the desert, through singing together, and through Ravio's tales of myth and legend. Ravio is quite the fan of history, and Laria always wanted to see the green lands beyond the desert, so his stories enthralled her.
As for how close they were... they both had very large crushes on the other, but Laria is the quieter type and Ravio wasn't brave enough to say something until it was too late.
For a couple neat little design details, Laria has very dark blue hair, her favorite color is green, and her favorite flower is the lotus! She wears one in her hair, and it's the pattern on the hem of her robe.
I picked the lotus for two reasons: one, because it's the sort of flower that might grow at an oasis, and two, because in the hanakotoba, the japanese flower language, the lotus stands for 'far from the one you love'
Which felt appropriate to say the least.
