Starring: Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Bruce Boxleitner Directed By: Joseph Kosinski
IN THE HEART OF THE SEA (2015) 42% #23 Critics Consensus: The admirably old-fashioned In the Heart of the Sea boasts thoughtful storytelling to match its visual panache, even if it can't claim the depth or epic sweep to which it so clearly aspires. Synopsis: Dr. Will Caster (Johnny Depp), the world's foremost authority on artificial intelligence, is conducting highly controversial experiments to create... Starring: Johnny Depp, Rebecca Hall, Paul Bettany, Cillian Murphy Directed By: Wally Pfister
ALOFT (2014) 17% #30 Critics Consensus: Glacially paced and ineptly plotted, Aloft crushes the game efforts of a talented cast under a dreary viewing experience whose title proves sadly ironic. Dramatic Soprano Elisabeth Ohms was born on 17 May 1888 in Arnheim in The Netherlands. Her interest in music was evident at an early age, when she began studying violin and piano playing. She did not turn to singing until she was 28, getting her training at the conservatory in Amsterdam and in Frankfurt am Main. Her first engagement was at the Stadttheater in Mainz, but after just two years she joined the company of the Munich State Opera, where she remained for two decades. With Munich as a base, she went on extensive guest tours all over the world. One of her admirers was Arturo Toscanini, under whom she sang Kundry and Isolde in 1927 and 1929 at La Scala in Milan; another was Richard Strauss, who was especially enthusiastic about her Isolde. lt goes without saying that this fine Wagner soprano was heard in Bayreuth, too; Toscanini asked for her as Kundry when he conducted "Parsifal" for the first time there in 1931. Her appearances at the Metropolitan Opera in 1930 and 1931 were outstandingly successful. As an exception, she began with "Fidelio"; then came the Brünnhildes in the Ring, Ortrud and Venus, and finally, to crown her work there, Isolde. After these years of international successes, Elisabeth Ohm limited her sphere of activities to Munich, where she performed only rarely and ended her stage career in 1942. She then resided in Marquartstein, where she died on 16 October 1974. Gertrud Bindernagel was born on 11 January 1894 in Magdeburg. She studied at the conservatory in her home town and was only 17 when she was engaged by the local Stadttheater as a practical trainee. From 1913 to 1917 she continued her studies at the College of Music in Berlin. After finishing them she went to the opera house in Breslau, where she stayed until 1919. In 1919-20 she was with the Regensburg Stadttheater. From 1921 to 1927 she was a member of the company of the Berlin State Opera, where she scored enormous successes in a repertoire ranging from Nedda in "I pagliacci" to Isolde. From 1927 on, Gertrud Bindemagel was heard mainly at the Städtische Oper in Berlin; guest tours took her to Barcelona, Hamburg, Munich, Vienna and Mannheim. Following a performance of "Siegfried" at Berlin's Städtische Oper she was shot by her husband under the arcades of the opera hause. Domestic quarrels had led to the attack, from which she did not recover. She died of complications on 3 November 1932. Marta Fuchs, the celebrated high dramatic soprano of the 1930s and 40s, began her career as an alto in concerts. Born on 1 January 1898 in Stuttgart, she made her opera debut, after five years of concert work, at the Stadttheater in Aachen, still as an alto. Only in the course of her next engagement - with the Dresden State Opera beginning in 1930 - was her voice transformed into a high dramatic soprano. After 1935 she was also a member of the Berlin State Opera company and went on to become one of the most famous Wagner sopranos of the time. In 1933 she was already singing at the Bayreuth Festival, and until 1942 she was hailed by audiences there as Isolde, Kundry and especially Brünnhilde. In 1933 and 1935-37 she took part in Wagner performances in Amsterdam. In 1938 she sang Isolde at the Theatre des Champs-Elysees in Paris. In 1936 she was heard with the Dresden State Opera ensemble in London's Covent Garden as Donna Anna, the Marschallin in "Rosenkavalier", and Ariadne. In 1942 she was acclaimed at the Vienna State Opera. After 1945 Marta Fuchs lived in Stuttgart, giving only occasional guest performances and concerts. She died in Stuttgart on 22 September 1974. Anny Konetzni, bom on 12 February 1902 in Ungarisch-Weisskirchen, got her vocal training at the Vienna Conservatory, where her teacher was the renowned heroic tenor Erik Schmedes. Later she studied with Jacques Stückgold in Berlin. She began her singing career at the Vienna Volksoper (1925) with alto and mezzo roles, but the change to the big dramatic soprano parts was not long in coming.

Much-recognised German heavy metal act U.D.O. just completed a European run in support of their current hit album "Touchdown" (released on August 25, 2023), which was greatly crowded in many places and even saw the band perform at a number of sold out venues. While enjoying the well deserved laurels, the group are now preparing for this year's festival season as well as the North American leg of their current world tour. Two of the aforementioned summer dates will actually revive the name DIRKSCHNEIDER.
DIRKSCHNEIDER is a name that stands for far more than a simple second incarnation of U.D.O., the band with Udo Dirkschneider. In this form, the quintet pay tribute to the musical history of their legendary singer. As songwriter and even founder in the '70s, Udo was one of the main characters of the ACCEPT success story. Bass player Peter Baltes, the newest member of the U.D.O. / DIRKSCHNEIDER family, also contributed a lot to ACCEPT's scene defining works, and during their common time in Udo's band, a certain album titled "Balls To The Wall" came to be.
"Balls To The Wall" would be a fitting description for the stage presence of the band, which is completed by the drumming 'clockwork' of Sven Dirkschneider and a talented guitar duo built of Andrey Smirnov and Fabian "Dee" Dammers, too. What luck that the 40th anniversary of the mentioned studio album, which was originally released in late 1983 and which is the most sold and best known by ACCEPT, recently fell into the current U.D.O. / DIRKSCHNEIDER heyday. Of course the band don't want to leave this jubilee unnoticed: that's why DIRKSCHNEIDER are pleased to not only announce a full "Balls To The Wall" live performance but AN ENTIRE TOUR in belated celebration of the iconic album for spring 2025!
Udo looks forward to these prestigious dates: "I really can't wait to revisit the ultimate success album of my band ACCEPT. Topped by sharing the stage with Peter Baltes, performing "Balls To The Wall" in full for all of you out there will be one of my biggest career highlights for sure!"
As if 45 minutes of "Balls To The Wall" -- delivering cult tracks such as its title track, 'London Leatherboys,''Love Child,' or album closing ballad 'Winterdreams' -- aren't enough to celebrate, DIRKSCHNEIDER will also add additional musical surprises to the set list and even return with a fresh stage production. Everything is set to commemorate the 40th anniversary of this undeniable ACCEPT milestone and to ensure that these nights will be unforgettable celebrations for every metalhead.
Tickets for the German shows are exclusively available at eventim now; the general pre-sale for all 25 dates is set to be launched on Wednesday, May 15 @ 12PM CEST.

Wembley Arena London! You have blown my fookin mind in here tonight. For once I feel fookin speechless. Honestly this is a fooking dream come true to be playing here. As I said already there's been a lot of special fuckin moments for me here, this is where I did my first-ever fooking solo performance right here on the X Factor right here. This is where we were fooking put together as a band in this venue! So to be playing a venue like this on my first fooking tour - I'm mind blown.
I FUCKING LOVE ALL OF YOU...even with a broken fooking elbow...it's only fractured, to be fair.

Sat 29 May ‘21
Production director Krupa, who does tech as part of Louis’ live team, posted a video captioned “won’t be long now” showing a banner with Louis’ smiley on it behind a drumset, with voices audible behind the camera; seems like it was old, from the tour shows that happened in 2020, but we know LT Tour ‘22 is on everyone’s minds behind the scenes with pieces very much currently in the process of being shuffled and arranged and tickets being sold, so it makes sense people are posting about it even though it’s so far away. Anyway does the voice in the video say “Styles when I start the video don’t laugh”? It does sound like it but whoever is there doesn’t laugh and is pretty much inaudible so we’ll never really know who it was but fans ask; why is this yet another example of someone associated with Louis who doesn’t follow any of the other 1D boys (and why would they) except… Harry? hmmm. Well, regardless of that if the voice in the video really finishes up by yelling “bukkake” we don’t want to dig ANY further into THAT but I will choose to believe they are instead yelling “we’re cocky” cause well, they ARE! What are they doing here! Plus then we don’t have to uh get into that other thing (bukkake). Krupa, enjoying the response to all that, then posted a picture of the bass drum head with Doncaster postcode taped on that had been used on tour. Robert Harvey (the songwriter from yesterday) is also enjoying the high of Louis-related posting and fan attention and charmingly joked about people being there to see his workout content.
“You don’t see a lot of Nialls around,” said Niall, who is in business with a guy named Niall Horgan, while being interviewed by a guy named Niall Grey, and shares some of the ways people say his name- “Neil, Noel, Nigel,Howoon, Heran”, plus “some of the lads call me Nelly”. He also said he’s “in the studio again, writing the third album and this is feeling really good. Hopefully I can get it out, I don’t really know when. When the world is all vaccinated & ready to go, I’ll probably try and get out on the road again” (and he says he was in the studio yesterday, how does he have TIME with all the promo?) In today’s entry into the tell all we’re compiling one sentence at a time over years, Niall says that the reason he just sat there during the whole “pregnant lady going into labor” nickelodeon prank (played on a young 1D for televised laughs, HAHA watch Harry stress the fuck out-- hilarious! :| ) was that he realized it wasn’t real right off (and that he went and spoke to someone who told him to get back in there), but to be fair is it tell all material given that he says right in the original video post-reveal part that he knew? He also said, “I'm pretty carefree, I care less now. I used to be really agitated and wanted to be doing stuff all the time and it [2020] really gave me an opportunity to step back from things. You didn't have to be moving all the time to be yourself,” and that yes he DID spend some time with his special friend (Amelia) during quarantine, “we have been doing a lot of cooking, it made lockdown a lot simpler... I think I would have gone mad on my own,” and “it was good to be at home and chill out, I feel bad saying that with all that's going on in the world but it was a nice thing.” Anne Marie said about the video “I was driving because back in the day, there wasn't a lot of pictures of women driving a car. So I took the control- we did nearly die. It was all hills and stuff, going round the corner of a hill, and I couldn't turn it, so we nearly died” and “I LOVE US,” and Niall said "if you don't like it, don't listen to it" about the single; StreamOurSong trended.
And an unseen picture of Harry from his shoot with Tim Walker was posted; he’s sprouting from earth like a beautiful flower, just like the ones he is draped in, fantastic! And museums are reopening to display Harry’s clothes all over the place; first the grammy museum, now the Victoria and Albert in London has at last reopened their doors, allowing the masses in to see the famous JW Anderson patchwork cardigan in the, uh, wool. Everyone wants some of that Harry Styles™ magic for their business! Even indie rock musicians; duo Bachelor’s new music video is all about getting some of that Harry magic for themselves. The two play exaggerated caricatures of harries, who happen upon someone they mistake for Harry and kidnap him and keep him in their basement (where they force him to sing Stockholm Syndrome repeatedly? No! Truly a missed opportunity, disappointing). The video is “about the dark side of fandom” they say, SIGH. Well, they may have portrayed fandom in the worst possible light, but at least they threw some money at the women they were condescendingly mocking while they were at it, their fan made product budget must have been huge-- like c’mon, just those redbubble bedspreads cost a fortune!

Fleshgod Apocalypse Announce 'Veleno Across Europe Tour 2020' w/ EX DEO
Tumblr media
Last year, Italian orchestral-death metal giants FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE unleashed their highly-praised 5th album, »Veleno«, unto the world through Nuclear Blast. After storming European stages as part of the »MTV Headbanger's Ball Tour« alongside label mates KATAKLYSM as well as WHITECHAPEL and DYSCARNATE in November/December 2019, the time has come for the band to once again return to our clubs as headliners in autumn 2020. This time, the sextet will be supported by metal legionnaires EX DEO. Further details can be found below!
Frontman Francesco Paoli says, "Dear European friends, this is going to be massive. We will finally bring our new music and live production to Europe, coming back as headliners to many familiar places that we deeply love, and hitting some others for the first time. We'll be covering the whole Old Continent, rocking every city with a new, ambitious live show, featuring an extended setlist and some cool surprises that will turn every night into a night to remember! Moreover, we're stoked to announce symphonic death metal band EX DEO, featuring members of legendary Canadian band KATAKLYSM, as our guest for the entire »Veleno Across Europe Tour 2020«! You don't want to miss this…"

Italian for 'venom', »Veleno« marks FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE’s first record in 3 years, since the release of their critically acclaimed record »King« (2016). The 'metal part' of »Veleno« was recorded in Rome, Italy at Bloom Recording Studio and Kick Studio with long-standing collaborator Marco Mastrobuono, while the 'orchestral part' - the ensembles - were tracked at Musica Teclas Studio in Perugia. Fleshgod Apocalypse then took the effort over to Grammy-nominated Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, EPICA) at Hansen Studios in Denmark for mixing and mastering. The entire production of »Veleno« took, according to Paoli, about three months. Artwork for the album was created by Travis Smith (AVENGED SEVENFOLD, OPETH, KATATONIA).

Great ice cream parlours around the world
Wherever you are in the world, ice cream is the quintessential summer treat. Whether you’re cycling in Copenhagen or temple-touring in Tokyo, exploring famous streets or keeping off the beaten track, we’ve scooped up a selection of fantastic parlours offering you respite from a sweltering day. All you’ve left to do is answer the all-important question: what’s your flavour?

Ruby Violet, London
We love the flavours at this quaint, blue-tiled London hideout, where extraordinary flavours are presented in an array of forms – from milkshakes and affogato to sofa floats and the Meringue Muddle, comprising two scoops with meringue bathed in hot salted caramel or chocolate sauce. If none of these will tide you over, you can also pick from a tantalising selection of cocktails, tea, coffee and hot chocolate, or indulge even further with an ice cream afternoon tea, ice cream cake or elegant bombe. The parlour was brought to life by Julie Fisher – who’s so good at crafting the creamy stuff, she’s even published her own recipe book, Ruby Violet’s Ice Cream Dreams.
Address: 118 Fortess Rd, London NW5 2HL
Le Bac à Glaces, Paris
All journeys to Paris should begin and end with a taste of its sweetest snacks: for the best artisanal ice cream try the chic and sophisticated Bac à Glaces, which makes its own creamy delights using natural produce and fresh fruit. Some stunning French flavours are just a scoop away: choose from chestnut, coffee, nougat, salted caramel, white cheese, speculoos and more, or opt for a selection of refreshing sorbets ranging from pink grapefruit to passionfruit.
Address: 109 Rue du Bac, 75007 Paris, France

OddFellows Ice Cream Co., New York City
On your next trip to Brooklyn, New York City, make a stop at OddFellows Ice Cream Co. where the ice cream is pasteurised and made from scratch to guarantee a rich and flavourful snack. A bright vintage-inspired parlour featuring red-and-white striped interiors, it offers a different array of flavours each day – standouts include buttermilk apple, matcha passionfruit, pumpkin cheesecake, roasted pear and caramel walnut, and black olive coffee with blueberry compote.
Address: 175 Kent Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11249, USA
OLUFs, Copenhagen
About as colourful as Copenhagen’s architecture, the ice cream bars over at OLUFs in Osterbro are treats to both the eyes and tongue. Each one is a work of art in its own right: whether chocolate-dipped, pistachio-flecked or coconut-covered, the home-made Italian gelatos and sorbets are smothered and sprinkled to perfection – they’re so pretty, they’re the kind of snack you’ll want to be seen eating as you amble down the city’s stylish streets.
Address: Olufsvej 6, 2100 København, Denmark
Popbar, Jakarta
While we’re on the subject of popsicles, another venue to try is the amazing Popbar, which has made the rounds in the United States and proves a refreshing option to beat the heat with in Jakarta. You can customise a selection of pretty pastel popGelatos and popSorbettos with hundreds of toppings. Some eye-poppingly fruity flavours here include guava, papaya, watermelon, kiwi, mandarin and banana.
Address: Jl. Letjen S. Parman Kav. 28, Central Park Lt. L No. 157, RT.12/RW.6, Tj. Duren Sel., Grogol petamburan, Kota Jakarta Barat, Daerah Khusus Ibukota Jakarta 11470, Indonesia

Salt & Straw, Portland
Pear and blue cheese, strawberry honey balsamic with black pepper, chocolate gooey brownie, and honey lavender are just some of the unique combinations that can be found at Salt & Straw’s Portland joint, which brings creativity and refinement to the table with frosty flair. Teamed with a rustic interior, where wooden floors and produce-lined furnishings glow in the sun, this little spot is perfect for whiling a post-lunch afternoon away.
Address: 838 NW 23rd Ave, Portland, OR 97210, USA
Glaslyn Ices, Beddgelert
Far removed from bustling big cities, this little Welsh parlour comes as quite a surprise, with award-winning ice cream that’s irresistibly thick and served on a tasty waffle cone. You’ll find it in the picturesque village of Beddgelert, set in the gorgeous Snowdonia area of Gwynedd. Pick up a crème caramel, white chocolate or butterscotch and pecan snack, to savour on a leisurely stroll along the river.
Address: Beddgelert, Caernarfon, Gwynedd County LL55 4YB
Rocambolesc, Barcelona
Located in Barcelona, this little treasure of a gelateria is a dream come true for every kid at heart. Imagined by Jordi Roca of El Celler de Can Roca fame, its cute interior makes for an upscale Roald Dahl-esque experience – think giant candy-striped pipes, bicycle wheels and colourful illustrations straight out of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We haven’t even mentioned the best part: uniquely-shaped popsicles and freshly-churned, 100% natural ice cream, popped onto a long waffle cone and decorated with many a great topping. On less sunny days, try the panet – lush ice cream and toppings wedged between two brioche halves.
Address: La Rambla, 51-59, 08002 Barcelona, Spain

Gelato Messina, Sydney
Voted the home of Australia’s best gelato by Good Food Guide, Gelato Messina serves whopping, mouth-wateringly messy portions to more than satisfy your sweet tooth with. Five special flavours are introduced weekly alongside the usual crowd favourites, which include panna cotta with fig jam and amaretti biscuit, macadamia crunch, apple pie, and pear and rhubarb. Gelato cakes are also available – options include the quirky Dr Evil’s Magic Mushroom, the epic hazelnut and caramel affair that is The Golden 8, and the more sophisticated Bombe Alaska.
Address: level g/80 Pyrmont St, Pyrmont NSW 2009, Australia
Giolitti, Rome
Giolitti is one for all serious foodies to top their ice cream bucket list with: founded in 1890, this popular parlour is the oldest in Rome and constantly buzzes with eager crowds. Try a rainbow of traditional and harmonious flavours, each perfected by years of experience and served in generous portions. Follow a cone up with a delectable ice cream biscuit, cake or truffle, or opt for the most indulgent Mont Blanc dessert.
Address: Via degli Uffici del Vicario, 40, 00186 Roma RM, Italy
Gelateria Sincerita, Tokyo
Once you’ve finished tackling Tokyo’s savoury treats, head off to find this quiet, dainty and adorable hideout in Suginami. Everything here is coloured in feminine shades of pastel, making for a sophisticated Italian gelato experience in the heart of Japan. Get your hands on a scoop of coconut, maple, fresh milk, white berry or cheese and fig ice cream, all served in a dainty cup, and grab yourself a warming coffee for the road.
Address: 1 Chome-43-7 Asagayakita, Suginami, Tokyo 166-0001, Japan
