Lately, after feedings, our mare, Boots has been remaining in the barn with me. I believe she is speaking to me. You see, I learned yesterday she has lymphoma (I have suspected this for a year, but she was misdiagnosed twice). My heart is broken. I have been Boots’ nurse through lymphangitis, numerous stitches, and other ailments where she has needed nursing. She taught me how to ride and won so many ribbons with my daughter. She was a real flashy horse in the show ring. She knew when she was in the ring. My heart is breaking and this next journey as her nurse will be my last. I'm one of those horse peeps that don't really like blankets/coats on our horse. However this year, with two of our horses we opted to outfit them with blankets. Dance (in the blue). Mama, is getting older. She & Starr tends to stand out in the snow & rain, while the others are in the barn, so wanted to make sure she's as comfortable as can be. For Starr (in the burgundy), she's got a lifelong fight with Founder/Laminitis & on top of that she's got Cancer, so I'm making sure she's spoiled.
