Jenson takes you on a dream vacation over the holidays but still makes sure you’ve got a gift to open come Christmas morning.

Exam season is killing you, mentally and physically.

Every bone in your body hurt from being hunched over at your desk for 18 hours a day and your brain felt like it was going to explode if you kept it up for much longer.

Jenson knew as much and he also knew your exam schedule; he couldn't bear to see his girl like that so he did the one thing he did best.

To be fair, he did just get you the car 2 years ago but he figured he needed some sort of reward to get you to go. If he could join you at the wedding, he would but alas he can't.

"I don't need the world, Jenson." You tell him, sitting in front of the tree. There are at least 20 bags and boxes neatly wrapped and set under the tree.

"I'd still buy it for you, princess." He smiles, taking a sip of his coffee as you unwrapped your gifts one by one; Gucci, Prada, Van Clef, Louis Vuitton - you name it, it was under the tree.

You had no idea how you'd get it all back home.

You thank him, doing a little try on haul as you unwrap the gifts. Jenson smiles, sitting comfortable as he watches you model your gifts for him.

"Happy?" He asks, patting his thigh. You sit yourself on his lap, an arm over his shoulder as you lean into him.

"Beyond happy," you whispered against his lips. "Thank you daddy."

The two of you go about your day, you'll be leaving your little paradise tomorrow and returning to reality so you were trying to soak up the last of the sunshine. takeaways from the game:

nick was starting, so after the anthem he went to the d bench and fist bumped every d man individually before going to the face off

blanks and bean were 1st line d

nick did take long shifts though, often got out before bean (would change on the fly) and stayed out after bean

so he played with primarily bean but also christensen and gavrikov (the other 2 left d men)

led team in ice time for defensemen, was 2nd in ice time out of all defensemen playing from both teams

also led cbj d men in puck possession for most of game (although i think he ended up second to boqvist)

led cbj d men in distance skated

he got off the bench and went onto the ice at the end of the first to meet elvis at the net and tao him with his stick rather than just going down the tunnel like everyone else

at the end of the second, he was on the ice in the offensive zone and skated down to elvis in net to once again encourage him

the former captain tendencies are so strong

kj has definitely been working on his defensive game, it shows

kj also has insane warmup rituals like the stick handling moves he does are insane to watch (at one point he took a sweet shot between his legs)

nick and kj pass to each other during warmups!

nick also smushed kj playfully into the boards at one point (who is kj if he doesn’t have a defensemen lovingly shoving him around)

sean kuraly is a man of the people. very interactive during warmups with the fans; at one point he scored and turned around and held his arms up so we’d all cheer

sean is also very good on faceoffs, for a good while he was at 100% on wins

adam boqvist messed with kj and pokechecked the puck he was stickhandling and kj made a hell of a face about it

in general kj is just so expressive it’s so fun to read his expressions

nick is FAST on the ice (this was my first time seeing him live), he is really good at joining the rush and then hauling ass back to play defense

he’s also really good at getting his stick in to deflect a shot or a pass, not afraid to dive or block shots either

the fifth line ADORES him. he got hit into the bench at one point and everyone was screaming about how you can’t do that and after he blocked a shot everyone was cheering really loud

they did a player profile for nick. if he could eat one food for the rest of his life, he’d eat chicken parm. his favorite bday gift is a painting from a monkey that his mom got for his 21st. and with his new contract, the first thing he bought was a louis vuitton bag

nick was playing with gavrikov on the penalty kill and the last minute when washington pulled goalie (these two played most of the pk. they’d play about the entire first minute, woukd change at a stop in play, and then changed again at the next stop in play to get back on ice, seemingly only took like 30 seconds off out of the two minutes)

nick finished with almost four minutes ice time short handed, led team there

elvis was on his game, looked good in net

adam boqvist was starting d man on the power play, followed by jake bean

kj was playing center again (larsen has not given an affirmative answer into whether kj will start at center or wing so this is interesting to pay attention to)

chinakhov looks great, had a really good game

jackets did not score on the power play but i’m not shocked

we did do well on the pk though

first period we spent a lot of time in our zone but we got better as game progressed

laine looks good, did better defensively than he did the last time i saw him

+ Dahlia Reed (you can call her Dee, but only if you’re family or a close friend) is the youngest of the Reed family, but don’t you dare ever put her in last place anywhere else because her pride might actually implode.

+ She hasn’t left Lunar Cove since her mother packed up their things and hauled the entire family here from Boston when she was about six years old to protect them from their father Silas, who had decided to dabble in some Dark Magic. She hasn’t had much desire to explore anywhere else, certainly not for long periods of time. The unknown is really not Dahlia’s favorite thing, so venturing out into the outside world and away from the protection of Lunar Cove (which she’s really questioning given all the murder lately, but I digress) is really not too appealing to her.

+ She’s a people pleaser, but only really for those who are in positions of authority or power. She does care entirely too much about what people think and how she’s perceived, which makes her come off pretty shallow (and sometimes she just is, but like most things, there’s more than meets the eye). Ultimately though, she can be a real social chameleon and suss out exactly what you might be wanting her to say, think, do, or feel, because she also really despises not being liked.

+ Her mother used to be the little birdy whispering in her ear what to do all the time, and now that she’s lost out on Supreme to her older sister, the woman doesn’t seem quite as keen to do so, and Dahlia’s almost feeling a little aimless at the moment as a result.

+ Right now, she’s a PR Manager for a smaller fashion company – mostly, she’s just molding their public image and managing social media posts, things of that nature. Who better to do the job though?

+ Not too long ago, her last long term boyfriend left her for someone else right when she was sure he was about to propose, so that really put a dent in her ten year plan. For the first time since she was probably fifteen years old, Dahlia has been single for longer than three months, and she still feels…weird about it. She’s trying this whole independence thing out, which isn’t really going wonderfully, but she supposes it is better than rejection and pain, so?

+ She really is no good at being alone, though. Thankfully, she’s able to at least conjure a familiar to keep her company (and do her bidding when she’s feeling nosy), but she does try to keep her friend roster pretty heavy – even if those friends are mostly kept at a distance with a small handful that have seen what Dahlia would call her more “pitiful” side. (That’s the one that sometimes wears sweatpants and messy buns and cries at jewelry commercials – I know, the horror.)

+ This is not really a friend you want to take out on spontaneous outings, and she really doesn’t love anything that makes her feel out of control in any way – so drinking and things of that nature are also pretty rare for her to do in anything but moderation. I swear she’s not just a boring stickler for planners and rules, but she just really hates thinking something could veer off course and go horribly awry. Messy is not her thing.

+ She can definitely be materialistic – she will splurge on a Gucci lipstick for the packaging aesthetic and buy an overpriced Louis Vuitton handbag. She believes there are certain things worth paying more for, thought weirdly enough, food is not really one of them. She’d rather eat at a food cart in the city than the fanciest restaurant (probably because she’s embarrassed to admit she has no idea what fork to use, but I digress).

+ Deep down, Dahlia really cares about more than just herself. Anyone that’s truly close to her knows she’s all or nothing at the end of the day in every part of her life (nothing Dahlia Reed has ever done has been done halfway), and the people in it are included in that. Her heart is either fully invested in you, or she just doesn’t care that much what happens to you one way or another beyond a “oh that’s too bad that happened to them, how tragic” kind of way. She has to keep it that way, otherwise the flood gates open and she’d probably be a weeping, emotional mess all the time.

Alright kids, today’s letter is T and the word of the day is TRAPPED. Today's number is 90. That is the number of days I am trapped at Koala. I feel like such a fucking bitch for saying that when I should be kissing the ground at Donna’s feet for this haven of a hell hole that gained my escape from the confines of CCDC, that spared me the gates of prison. Sometimes it is hard to remain humble when I am continuously watched for the slightest infraction, a reason to say, “lock her up”. Drug court is hard, staying sober is easy. One misstep leaves me grounded until they say otherwise. Like really grounded. Trapped. I want to fast forward through this part, sleep it away and count commissary and linen exchange days until it is over. I want to be given the freedom to excel and soar, to find my footing and gain by leaps and bounds instead of baby steps. Real baby steps. Not just tiny ones, but ones where you hold on to the tables and walls for support and take many tumbles. That has never been my style. I jump in full force. Maybe that is why I make it to the top time and time again and just when I think I can enjoy the view, I fall. Maybe my foundation has been made of cards. Hastily put together footholds so I can climb without any reinforcements, no safety nets in case I tumble. I never expect the unexpected and it always catches me off guard. That saying, spend like there’s no tomorrow, is so suitable for my way of living. When I am on top, I cannot see anything below the skyline and there is no limit to how far I can go. I think I am walking on concrete when I am really walking on clouds. Stormy ones that churn angrily beneath my confident steps.

Maybe then I am trapped not to cage but to learn. I must need to learn something here. Maybe to build a solid foundation. I don’t want to build my life brick by painstaking brick. I want to throw some U-Haul boxes together and build a cardboard castle. I will deck it out in Louis Vuitton and Michael Kors and no one ever need know how flimsy it is. I am well aware that is what got me here. I am well aware that those stupid bricks and pasty mortar are waiting for my painstaking labor to build my life. My tools are waiting, building up as they are being given to me one by one by my instructors, judges, coordinators and case managers, all that's left to do is roll up my sleeves and hold on to the table while I learn to walk.
