i would like to ask you a question. however, this question goes to the being beyond the outstanding writer you are. i’m sure you’re a loving person as you are irl. i am also asking this beyond the reader i am of your beautiful work, it’d only be fair to be vulnerable too.

just as any other person, we aspire to do things or fulfill things in life. have you ever wanted to do something that has been deferred because you had to wait for your friends or any sort of company? or do you fulfill these desires by doing it on your own?

i put myself as an example. i’m actually very introverted and do not have a handful of friends (the amount i have is all i need, i promise i feel loved by my friends). yet, i’m someone who dreams big and want to do many things that i didn’t dare to do when i was less independent, but i feel like i have to count on my friends to do these things. this year i would love to go to a jazz bar; i love music, and i love jazz so so so so much. and i would love to share the experience with my friends. but because of waiting on that, it gets deferred time and time again. there are so many more things that i would love to do, but i fear to do them on my own.

i would like to know how you manage yourself in situations like this, if you’ve ever had to encounter them. if this ask is too personal to answer, that is completely fine! i don’t get to show myself like this at all, but i have become fond of you and your work, and i have felt comfortable to take a step a little further. i hope that is not much of a bother.

there is actually something i learned as i was growing up and meeting new people! you know how there are particular things you only share to different friends? i have only a few very close friends, and there’s only one of them i talk to about my deepest, darkest thoughts. however, when i’m crying inconsolably, it’s almost pure instinct how i run to my other friends. it goes the same way with doing things, i believe. bcs we don’t always have the same interests! there are some things i’ve always wanted to try with my friends (well they’re mostly group activities haha) but somehow ended up experiencing with other people and it made me realize how fun it is to have different people in your life you can do different things with 🫶🏼 then i tell my friends about the experience and say that i want to try it out with them too! i’ve had success with this convincing method hehehe

honestly, me and my highschool friends also planned to study in the same uni but i ended up taking the entrance exams alone 😭

of course being with friends is always a wonderful experience! but i think it’s also great to be comfortable in your own company ☺️ it’s a very liberating feeling.

like for example, your favorite artist is having a concert in your country! imagine bts! and you want to go with a friend but due to conflict of schedule or financial matters, they won’t be able to attend and you’d have no one with you. it sounds scary but you won’t want to miss out on the opportunity that only comes once in a while.

and i think during those moments it’s important to think about the people we’re surrounded with: at a concert, all of you loves the artist performing on stage. at a jazz bar, all of you loves jazz! when i look around, i see a lot of people all by theirself and it makes me feel less lonely when i am alone! when i reflect on how one and the same humans are (mostly the fact that we crave happiness and we have love in our hearts), it gives me a sense of comfort and belonging.

i think we’re all trying to figure out how to enjoy life to the fullest— and ultimately we just need that little push, to take a step forward to begin the journey 🥰 the hardest part is always the start but i promise you gain the courage with each step and it gets easier after that <3
