imagine its 2003. youre enjoying a free summer concert in nyc's central park. you've just been jamming out to junior senior's set and really enjoyed that "move your feet" song. the next band comes onstage and some hyperactive little guy in a striped suit starts operatically lamenting about the groove and where it's gone. he also tells you he's the rhythm thief. this new band (their name is sparks or something?) finishes their set and leaves you having experienced every emotion on earth. its summer in central park in 2003.

OK so this one's a little tenuous, but follow me here... I was researching different editions of Lil' Beethoven and I saw there was a deluxe version of the album with a CD-ROM component, even boasting a Lil' Beethoven SCREENSAVER.

So what if Sparks had fully embraced the CD-ROM era and released AFTER SPARKS: the official screensaver collection...?

It was the scarcity of food that plummeted him to a tantrum. The wooden floors creaked beneath his feet which held a boy that is just shy of growing more inches to be just as tall as his father. Nose standing tall and eyes in a glare, he looks at his mom with such fierceness that she begins to fear for herself. She knows what he’s capable of his father never failed to remind her. “I want my banana milk!” Her thoughts are brought back to her reality and she looks at her son with a gaze that shows no expression. She’s tired and he’s asking for food something of which they haven’t had for a few days. Her gaze goes past the little boy's figure, it goes past the doors and the walls of the small one bedroom home that was barely held together. She’s gone from the present world and her body hits the floor, a short gasp leaves her lips as she manages to say “Minhyunnie… your banana milk is outside..” 

The little child ecstatic about this news runs outside to look for his favorite drink while back at home his mother leans against the cupboard, cursing this life of hers and cursing the one who gave her this child. It wasn’t that she didn’t love little Minhyun it was just that that part of him she despised. The chance of being a normal happy family and the chance of him having a normal life were robbed before he was even born. He returns shortly after with a sullen face and realises his mother lied to him, but somehow he doesn’t say anything again or protest. Lip jutted out he walks over to his mother and brushes the strands of hair away from her face, leans to kiss her hollow cheek then sits on her lap and says quietly, “I had the best banana milk, Mommy.”
