i think forrest gump only made so much money because of the track list
#and buying a movie ticket was cheaper than buying an album from every artist in the movie#or some shit#like i know its a zemeckis movie with tom hanks and other big 90s stars so there was Star Power™ that also lead to its success#im just saying that whenever i watch it i have a hard time 'getting it'#like. there's just a lot of 90s shit in it that's hard to swallow as someone in 2024 who didn't grow up watching it y'know?#like the whole movie being tom hanks faking a disbaled accent and playing a Manic Pixie Disabled Man#who's just sooo dang cute and says the darnedest things 🙄#or like. the film's weird treatment of black people. esp the black panthers#i know the anti-communist stuff is supposed to be tongue-in-cheek (at least it was in the book)#but the whole vietnam chunk of the film leaves a bad taste in my mouth#and overall while the visuals are decent i can't stand the writing#i can't put a finger on way it just. sucks lol#idk im running out of tags. but while i know this movie was trying to say something sweet and thoughtful and poignant#about the recent history and the politics of this country through the life story of this sweet disabled man#about the little people in our big world and all its Big Events. or some shit#i just think it sucks and isn't a very good movie#mickey.txt
