This raging storm we call life
This lil story is part of a challenge I'm doing with @ravendruid , where we each picked a prompt from a list we sent to the other and wrote a story based off of them! This story takes place in my A town to nowhere au so if unaware of it this story might be a bit confusing! Also posted on AO3 Also do check out RavenDruids fics as well!!
Despite the heat and humidity Keyleth couldn’t bring herself to ask Vax to let go. His face buried into her neck, his arms tightly wound around her waist as she sat in his lap and even though they were practically in just their underwear and the storm raging outside Keyleth could feel the stickiness of their sweat slowly running down to the floor.
They’d left the door open a crack, hoping the storm would counter the stuffyness the humidity was causing inside the old worn down lighthouse. It didn’t help much but the occasional splash of rain and wind making it’s way through was worth it.
Usually even Keyleth would come up to the lighthouse when it’s this hot and stuffy but life continuously likes to make her change her plans and schedule. In all intenses and purposes the day had started out fine, she’d gone about her normal routine till Vax all but tackled her in a tight hug and wouldn’t let her out of his sight for the whole day. With how he didn’t want her to go home when the storm started she can only guess something would have happened to her on her way back, what horrors plague his dreams. How many times has he seen her die? How many times has he seen his sister die? Why did fate choose to make him be forever tormented by possibilities?
BOOM!
It feels like the very earth rumbles with the aftershocks of the roaring thunder as lighting crackles across the sky. Vax’s grip on her grows ever tighter as he tries to burry his face further into her as he begins to shake. Oh. What a way that’d be to go.
“I’m okay.” She says, gentle placing her hands on his arms and letting her head rest utop his. The only inclination she has that he heard her was the light kiss he places upon her collarbone. “Do you want to talk about it?” She already knows the answer but she still asks, still lets him know everytime that he can confide in her even when it’s about her. Vax doesn’t react to her words for a few minutes to the point Kayleth figured she wouldn’t get one till she feels the slight shake of his head. The answer doesn’t surprise surprise her, Vax never particularly likes talking about the visions till a few days have passed or the object or creature that killed the person within them is either gone or been dealt with.
They stay that way a while longer, staring out into the wild storm outside as Vax’s wrapped around her as much as he can till Keyleth shifts, lightly gripping Vax’s hands before slowly starting to get up tugging the man with her. He doesn’t resist as she gets the two of them up and starts to walk them further into the space that she has long claimed as her own and have sharen with with him.
Vax dares not let go of her but does lessin his hold bit by bit as they head further away from the door. He releases a content sigh as Keyleth drags him over to the make shift bed, idly using one of her hands to switch on a battery powered lantern they kept here. He finally is looking relaxed as it becomes obvious they’ll be staying here for the night.
It’s certainly not the first night the two of them have slept in the lighthouse and it’s certainly nowhere near the first time Keyleth’s spent the night here. So many nights has she been in this very spot alone and empty inside with nothing to distract her from her thoughts. She’s never told Vax how much trust she has in him, how he calms her, how he helps keep her thoughts at bay.
And now with some horrid twist of fate he keeps her from death, over and over again. But she’s here for him when the visions get too dark, she’s here to calm his mind as he does for her.

Okay I finished Road 96 Mile 0- An I have a couple of an issues with the way it's played. First off I hate rhythm games my depth perception is bad. So I kept running into shit and two the little mini games did not need to be in there. I felt like they needed to stick to either the roots of their first game or steal the pacing from the Life is Strange or at least the game play. I was so pissed by the end of it in lessin the impact of said ending.
I have problems with Kaito and Zoe. Zoe should have not left with the files in the "good ending". If you fight her as Kaito, because it would make no sense for Robert to spar Kaito family. Without those papers but i guess Robert isn't meant to have them either.
The dynamic is also complicated, Zoe is very much the privilege white girl who ends up getting her eyes opened by her POC friend. But Kaito does beytray her trust and because you the player are playing her. She of course would not snitch. It feels like with the whole situation the narrative is saying Zoe would snitch. Even though I feel like every interaction with her proved she was a good friend an ally.
As a POC myself I can't bring my self to hate Kaito but I am openly frustrated with him. He kept hammering away at the fact Zoe was his one and only friend. (An he did her so dirty.) An asked all the time "canI trust you" etc. It felt like because of the ending he never truly believed that. An imploded his relationship. I mean homie not even in the wrong. Zoe is a liability, she is the oil Miner daughter. So I'm just it leaves me wanting to eat my fist and scream.
Finally Mile 0 contradicts the first game, Zoe didn't have any files. She was given info which then lead to her changing her mind in the game. It was all conspiracy to her at first, but then she gets files that she then takes with her over the borader.
Also she told us the MC that her dad thinks she's on a hiking trip or something along those lines. Yeah nah, either she lied or something. (but I feel like the Father actually confirmed Zoe lie saying "ohmygod my daughter is off doing some traveling or something.")
Anyway first game amazing I loved it. Prequel will not a fan of it, but it adds character depth.

From my friend Darsi:
Then Gideon built an altar there unto the Lord, and called it Jehovah-shalom.” Judges 6:24
“Shalom” is much more than a casual social greeting— it is a prayer,
a blessing,
a deep desire,
and a benediction.
It is a word that is packed with the full blessing of God.
In Hebrew the word has many significant meanings throughout the Scriptures. The following blessing is a compilation of those meanings.
Envision us standing by you with hands extended, speaking these words of blessing over your life…
May you be whole in body, soul, and spirit as a result of being in harmony with God’s will and purpose for your life.
May His peace be your covering, may your heart know His fullness, and by His mighty power may you know victory over every enemy.
May He bring to pass the deepest desires of your heart.
May you know the healing power of His presence,
and the restoration of every broken relationship.
Through His sufficiency, may every need you face
be met by His limitless resources.
May His covenant promises be fulfilled in your life and in your family.
May He bring you the greatest measure of contentment,
and the deepest satisfaction that your heart can possibly know through Jesus Christ.
Shalom!

Trouble the Water is a first person documentary film created in 2008 about the hardships faced by citizens of New Orleans, Louisiana during the 2005 Hurricane Katrina massacre the directors of the film include Carl Deal and Tia Lessin. The film was distributed by Zeitgeist Films and produced by Tia Lessin and Carl Deal Kimberly Rivers Roberts the main focus of the film also took part in producing songs for the soundtrack of the film. Ms. Kimberly Rivers is also an accomplished film maker with Trouble the Water being partly accredited to her efforts and creating her own film Fear no Gumbo created in 2016.
From August 23, 2005 to August 25, 2005 scale, 5 Hurricane Took Pl. in New Orleans, Louisiana known as Hurricane Katrina. During the chaos of the storm, 1392 people were killed and $125 billion of damage was done to the city. This does not include people with injuries that still may be recovering from them today. Before the storm arrived President Bush made no real efforts to protect and ensure that citizens would be safe before the storm arrived. Citizens evacuated the city at their own discretion yet there were an abundance of citizens that decided to remain to protect the homes, Kimberly Rivers being one of them. By the time the storm was in full force homes were entirely covered in rushing water citizens had to either attempt to evacuate their homes or more often wait up on their roof. Yet most homes did not have roof access so people had to break their roofs, while their homes were flooding to prevent themselves from drowning.
Throughout the entirety of the film, it can be seen that Kimberly Rivers and her family are the epitome of generosity in love throughout the midst of a struggle in hardship that no one was truly prepared for. On several occasions citizens normally would have decided to save themselves and make sure that immediate family was protected. Kimberly Rivers and her loved ones decided to go out and save other citizens. Without the aid of Kimberly Rivers these people would have literally drowned inside of their own homes without receiving government assistance. Even when attending rest stops for people that are displaced Kimberly made an effort to help house and assist people that had lost their way and or their families. The idea that it takes a village is one that is lost in modern times yet Kimberly and the people of New Orleans practiced it efficiently during Hurricane Katrina.
The film follows Kimberly Rivers first person account of living in New Orleans, Louisiana before and after the levees broke which caused vast flooding due to Hurricane Katrina. Throughout the film Kimberly Rivers gives a first person account of living in the African-American population of New Orleans in the opinions of her fellow neighbors on the upcoming storm. A vast majority of her neighbors were not willing to leave their homes due to the equity they placed into their property. For those who did retreat before the storm hit people such as Kimberly ask for the neighbors to take her pets for safekeeping. The film portrays the miracle of Kimberly, rivers, and her loved ones survival throughout the rushing waters afterward showing their struggle to attain a normal life again.

Today's Prayer
Father, I thank You for being the God of every blessing, the fount of every joy, and the source of everything good. I know it is in Your heart to bless the lives of Your children, and as Your child, I desire Your blessing upon my life. Thank You that Your blessings enrich my life, leave me without sorrow, bring me the treasures of Your grace, and express all the kindness of Your favor.
Thank You, Father, that Your blessings abound to me in Christ, they are mine freely because of the great price He paid. I thank You that because I am in Him, You have showered upon me every blessing that heaven could possibly give.
I receive Your blessings for this day as I walk with You—I ask for Your hand to cover me, Your power to keep me, Your face to shine upon me, Your love to fill me, Your strength to sustain me, and Your sufficiency to be my portion in every need I face. I ask You to bless the work of my hands as I serve You in your appointed place.
Father, I desire above all, the greatest blessing of all, the blessing of Your daily presence. My relationship with You means everything! I cannot live in the poverty of not knowing You. I want to know and love You more—to walk with You, break bread with You, speak my heart to You, and respond to You as I hear Your voice, see Your smile, and sense Your pleasure.
Father, bless me and make me a blessing. - Roy Lessin

4th Station, Louise Bang and Gui Lessin
Louise Bang & Gui Lessin are artists who take their collaborative work and practice as a life-long commitment. Every painting from their studio is a result of this partnership and is one-of-a-kind made from the highest quality materials available, most often mixed media on linen. '4th Station' is a piece that has evolved over many iterations, inspired by many walks past the lifeguard stations on Miami Beach. The piece is dynamic and expressionistic in all aspects from the definitive brush strokes mixed with pulled paint and scraping techniques to the strategic placement of stamp-like markings. The many layers superimposed one on top of the other suggest a complex net of colors and vaguely recognizable symbols. Bang & Lessin's work is signed on the back and often incorporates a discreet framing device so that it can easily be displayed as-is and in any orientation, without the need for additional frame construction.

RENÉ FRANÇOIS GHISLAIN MAGRITTE
On this day of 21st November, René François Ghislain Magritte; (21 November 1898 – 15 August 1967) was born in Lessines, Belgium.
He was a surrealist artist. He became well known for creating a number of witty and thought-provoking images. Often depicting ordinary objects in an unusual context, his work is known for challenging observers' preconditioned perceptions of reality. His imagery has influenced pop art, minimalist art, and conceptual art.
René Magritte was son of Léopold Magritte, and, Régina (née Bertinchamps). Little is known about Magritte's early life.
Magritte's earliest paintings were Impressionistic in style. He studied at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, under Constant Montald, and from the painter and poster designer Gisbert Combaz. Later he produced paintings influenced by Futurism and by the figurative Cubism of Metzinger.
Magritte produced his first surreal painting, The Lost Jockey (Le jockey perdu), and held his first solo exhibition in Brussels in 1927.
He moved to Paris, and became friends with André Breton, and became involved in the Surrealist group. In 1929 he exhibited at Goemans Gallery in Paris with Salvador Dalí, Jean Arp, de Chirico, Max Ernst, Joan Miró, Picabia, Picasso, and Yves Tanguy.
In 1936 he had his first solo exhibition in the United States at the Julien Levy Gallery in New York, followed by an exposition at the London Gallery in 1938. Notable paintings were, Le Principe du Plaisir (The Pleasure Principle) and La Reproduction Interdite, and Not to Be Reproduced.
In France, Magritte's was showcased including at the Centre Georges Pompidou, In the United States retrospective exhibitions: at the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
Artists influenced by Magritte's works include John Baldessari, Ed Ruscha, Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, Jan Verdoodt, Martin Kippenberger, Duane Michals, Storm Thorgerson, and Luis Rey.
His works have been frequently adapted or plagiarized in advertisements, posters, book covers, and the like. Examples include album covers for The Jeff Beck Group Alan Hull's, Jackson Browne's, Firesign Theatre's, Styx's, The Grand Illusion rapper Jesse Jagz's, Punch Brothers, Paul Simon, John Cale, Tom Stoppard, and others.
Magritte's imagery has inspired filmmakers like Marcel Mariën, Jean-Luc Godard, Alain Robbe-Grillet, Bernardo Bertolucci, Nicolas Roeg, John Boorman, and Terry Gilliam.
A Street in Brussels has been named Ceci n'est pas une rue (This is not a street).
The Magritte Museum is in Brussels, which displays some 200 original Magritte paintings, drawings, and sculptures including The Return, Scheherazade and, The Empire of Light.
Another museum is located at Rue Esseghem in Brussels in Magritte's former home. A painting, Olympia, was stolen from this museum in 2009 by two armed men but was returned to the museum in 2012 as the thieves were unable to sell it on the black market due to its fame
