It’s so absurd how they had golem Landon telling Hope that she needed to worry about Landon less and everyone else more. When Landon had literally melted, been trapped in Malivore, been trapped alone in a prison world full of monsters with no help or powers, for how many weeks, all while everyone else was safely living their lives at the school. But no, don’t worry about Landon, worry about everyone else. That sort of mentality really sums up the show though, like… Landon is in grave danger, Landon is trapped in another dimension, Landon’s body has been taken over, Landon died, Landon is trapped in purgatory, Landon lost a piece of his soul, every bad thing ever is happening to Landon but let’s not worry about any of that and focus on other irrelevant things instead. And care about anyone and anything else but him while he suffers. That was basically the show in a nutshell.

Anyway time to talk about the 6x03 poem:

As many others have speculated judging by the map, Captain Skall made her way to Hook named after her, and then "as east she sailed into waters so deadly and cold" in the Frozen Shards, her ship eventually being stuck and meeting her doom there.

With that out of the way, I want to talk about other pieces of info, why this might be the poem for 6x03 specifically, and where I think Skall may fit timeline wise:

"From the isles without name" makes me think of the Independent Isles in between Evenere and Katolis.

"sailing north, she called herself free" makes me feel feral with Callum (and Rayla) doing the same in hopes of freeing Callum from Aaravos' grasp by destroying the prison

"Through forests and flowers, past the uneven towers" clearly symbolizes Katolis, indicating that Skall lived once most of the human kingdoms had been established, and thereby post-Exile/Exodus.

"Skall hungered for glory, she wanted a story / they’d tell it long after she died". Routinely we see a desire for glory / worthiness / power described as hunger ("Hungry for knowledge and power" / "But that small taste left some humans hungry—starved, even—for a better path. An easier path. And thus Elarion became the birthplace of a new form of magic, a shortcut to primal power: dark magic"). This also comes into seeking a legacy.

"So with winter wind’s blowing / she sailed north, forgoing / a man who’d have made her his bride". This is where we see the poem take a more negative slant in a few ways. The first is winter, wind, and north, setting up a future unfortunate turn of events. This is also the first mention of Skall having something else in her life other than adventure and something she had to subsequently abandon. While the end of the poem is much more on her side of feelings, "forgoing" does mean "renouncing; sacrificing or giving up" something that is more positive.

"Alone in the cold, yet ever so bold" again adds to the more negative feeling the poem is building, as boldness is in the contrast with "alone in the cold" that's overall negative and maintaining a bit more of an upkeep. Likewise, we see the return of the wind with an even more negative connotation in wailing in the following stanza: "And oh, winter wailed / as east she sailed / into waters so deadly and cold". We see the return of cold but also the change into things being 'deadly' (although there were still hints of danger earlier, as 'bold' indicates).

"Then came the ice, and trapped in its vise" The cold finally catches up to her, and we see ice return as a form of entrapment (2x06, 3x08, 3x09, 5x04, 5x06, 5x08). Most interestingly, "vise" is a tool with closable jaws for clamping things. Maybe the ice is magical, or the jaw of a great (the dragon we've seen in the trailer) creature?

"And while she found peace / she wished that, at least / she’d told him she loved him, always". While the poem ends on a somewhat bittersweet end (at death but at peace), we do see that Skall died with a final regret to the man she could've wed but left instead.

Or you could say, a last wish.

Either way, the poem paints a rather grim journey: going North didn't hold the same freedom and achievements that Skall hoped for, and instead led to entrapment, separation, and death.

That said: there's a few Rayllum-y things I think we can glean from this poem, for starters:

1) The episode will likely have a strong focus on Callum and Rayla sailing to and/or through the Frozen Sea on whatever ship they're planning to use to get there. This leaves 6x02 "Love, War, and Mushrooms" more open to either explore other plot lines or another pit stop in their journey (like say, the Silvergrove)

2) The poem itself has pretty clear Rayllum parallels, specifically in TDP's continual gender subversion of the women who puts other things above her romantic relationship, even if it's likewise seen as a sacrifice. Rayla left Callum in order to protect him/the world from Viren, even if that meant damaging their relationship, and Skall puts her desire for glory and adventure over presumably a more settled married life at home. (Excuse me while I scream over "forgoing a man who'd have made her his bride.")

3) The poem likewise has some parallels to Rayla's "Dear Callum" letter specifically. There are wishes expressed of the leaving party, a desire to have made feelings more plain that Callum reiterates in 5x04 when they think they're about to die ("I hope you know—" "I know"), and most notably, a parallel to the always mention:

she wished that, at least she’d told him she loved him, always.

But, if it does—if you feel that soft aching—know that that piece of your heart isn’t missing. It’s not missing at all, Callum: I’m carrying it with me! Always. I love you. I love you so much.

4) All this bodes quite well for 6x03 being an episode with a big Rayllum moment in it — perhaps even their Big "You Finally Came Back" Talk — especially since there's not much else to (presumably) happen on a ship if they're just travelling somewhere (and not being pursued this time).

Episode Speculation (a summary / misc thoughts)

Callum and Rayla travelling to the Frozen Sea

+ potential love confession / reaffirmation?

They reach the other end of the Frozen Sea

Maybe fight the big dragon from the video game teaser we see with Rayla (like Skall, she has literal hooks = blades) whose guarding or in their way to the Starscraper? Could account for the jaws and maybe the ice

One of them is worried and/or has a moment of thinking the other person is hurt/injured bc of said dragon fight?

Maybe some Aaravos backstory in his lost love (although like I said, I don't think it's Skall exactly — I still think the likeliest names are Elara-adjacent or Kalik)

And just like every Halloween for the last seven years, we are going to show Stargate: Atlantis 5x07 Whispers, as this is the episode that started it all! As of last year, we mods decided to not just leave it with only showing Whispers, but to make it a double feature with another spooky Stargate episode.

Last year, by popular demand we showed SG-1's 4x20 Entity as second Halloween episode, so that's off the list. And since we now have the poll feature here on tumblr, the second episode will be decided by popular vote. So...

I was reading your tags & I couldn't help but wonder why do you think that Cameron got an unhappy ending? Didn't look like that to me. He never ended up becoming like Jordan which was what Sofus didn't want him to turn into in 3x09 & ended up not just standing against him/defeating him but walking away from his legacy & went on to make his own by joining the JSA & going back to Courtney to accept again her help just like in the end of 3x04. If anything, he was given hope again in the end by her.

hiiii. i just don't think his ending was "happy." it was an ending, for sure, and he technically got more closure than yolanda did, but he 1) lost his grandmother, 2) lost his father, and was forced into a death match with him. he put jordan on a pedestal probably his entire life and had that view of him shattered in one night. i mean, half of his purpose as a character in the series was to honor his father, whom he loved, only for him to find out in the finale that he never actually loved him back. yes, he got a nice hug from courtney at the end, but there was nothing to indicate his happiness. there was just the hug and implication that courtney might have eventually helped him to some degree because he's a member of the jsa 10 years later. who knows how long it took for him to be "okay"? hopefully, he got some professional help. so, i think he got an ending. just not a happy one.

Y’all ever want a mean Dominique Tipper to just... boss u around a little bit. Especially in those stylish suits. I was definitely not paying attention to the story-important dialogue during those scenes. And Cate again, with May, right in front of Kentaro. It makes me laugh that it just keeps happening and seeing his little upset face in the background lolol. Although Cate seems the most emotionally expressive, May does seem to have caught feelings too. Also, how does a 90-something year old man have more efficient mobilization with limited resources compared to a global organization with very deep pockets?? Also also, I did love Columbo Tim rising out of the sand like a Titan.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (rw) 3x09 The Wish

Cordelia's wish for a Buffy-free Sunnydale comes true, plunging her into a world where vampires have control of the town.

So in Cordy's wished-for universe: Buffy is a bit butcher, Willow is lot kinkier, Giles has hot-guy stubble, and yet both Angel and Xander are still useless and pathetic. How was this not her bi awakening?? And this as a reaction to Buffy genuinely wanting to know if she was okay, and even admitting to initially only liking Xander because of Buffy. If Willow and Xander can be friends who touch lips then it's only fair Buffy and Cordy can be too.

Expelled from school, Percy Jackson unravels who he is, confronting a world of gods and monsters.

I'm kinda surprised I have never read the books tbh. They first came out when I was struggling a ton with my physical health so that's probably why I didn't have the focus or motivation to read them back then. But I love what little I know of the premise so far. And usually the books are always better so at least there won't be a constant comparison to distract me and I can just enjoy the show for what it is.

Do you really think they’ll have the big moment of Aemond vs Daemon in S2 or do you think they’ll hold off to at least s3? (Seeing as the characters are so popular, I could see them fucking with the timeline a bit)

I think that they're gonna wait till Season 3 for the bloodbath.

If Game of Thrones is anything to go by, Season 3 was when all the threads of Season 1 and 2 sort of came together and reached their climax. Dany taking Slaver's Bay, The Red Wedding, and the stuff Beyond the Wall.

I think in Season 3 of HOTD, we'll lose most of the legacy characters - Aemond, Helaena, Criston, Jace, and Daemon,

Season four will be the finale of the series and probably be a much smaller stable of characters with the major players being Alicent, Daeron, Corlys, and Rhaenyra, with probably Daeron being in the driver seat of events and focusing on his rivalry with Hugh Hammer and Adam Hull as determining the fate of Westros. And - like the book - the war shifting from being about claims to the Iron Throne to Daeron and the common people trying to overthrow a mad queen.

I'd say that the "Battle over the Gods Eye" and Helaena's death will probably be 3x08 or 3x09. I think the Brothel Queens and Criston's Death will be 3x03. And the death of Maelor and Daeron scrounging Bitterbridge in vengence will probably be 3x05.

Of course, I'm pattering the "Game of Thrones" formula of structuring seasons, maybe the showrunners and Martin have a different style.

I watched 4x17 and 4x18 of Legacies last night, and they pair exceptionally well with where I’m at in my rewatch- 3x08 and 3x09, especially with the MG & Lizzie content, MG & Ethan content, Hope & Landon content, and Kaleb & Cleo content, and of course Charon.

I had seen the responses to the MG/Lizzie developments from fellow Hizzie shippers and the disappointment, and honestly... maybe I’m an obstinate dumbass who isn’t taking a hint, but I still don’t think MG/Lizzie will end up together. Especially because Lizzie has never denied she cares for MG, but she still hasn’t framed herself, ever, as being attracted to him- she’s only questioned whether she should reciprocate his feelings given he’s such a great guy. I feel that the latest episodes still maintain that dynamic, and I really still have hope for a MG/Ethan, Ben/Jed, and Lizzie/Hope ending (with implied Josie/Finch and Landon/a new beginning?).

As to predictions for tonight’s episode:

I think, as much as Lizzie’s siphoning powers are going to impact their success, part of her unknown factor (beyond uniting huge amounts of the group) is going to be her connection to Aurora- her wild card relationship she formed with Aurora, combined with Aurora’s doubts from the latest episode, are going to lead Aurora and maybe Jen to help Lizzie escape imminent death at Ken’s hands.

Also, Alaric totally isn’t actually going to let Lizzie make the sacrifice play. I think he’s seeming to acquiesce so that he can turn the tables with no one expecting him to at the last minute. For all that he respects his daughter’s rights to make their own decisions, that’s not a risk that’s worth it to him. The father-daughter dance wasn’t because he’s worried she won’t get to be married (at least not primarily) but that he won’t be alive for it. I don’t think he’ll be successful in stopping her, but he will try to be the one to do it instead.
