Seems a few folks were wondering where I'm at? Sorry about that. Have deeply needed some time away from quite so many screens. Maybe it's doing me some good. Maybe I still miss you all and all your/our little antics anyway. 💕

I have also reencountered covid, much worse than before; the words "Call a Victorian plague doctor, I want to speak to some opium about this" might have been written.... (Words that were less comprehensible but much more colorful might have been thought....) It's definitely still a vile and life-ruining Thing That Is Out There my dudes; protect yourselves protect your friends protect your families, do what you can to protect folks in general and esp the disabled and immune compromised please, like by keeping transmission low (stay home when sick if you can!) etc......

Hope you all are doing well or at least hanging in there 💕 don't give up okay? Keep going you got this 🙌

FOUND family??? you think i just found them like this??? babes this is FORGED family. Me & the bros were scrap metal in a junkyard (very valuable, very sharp, very dangerous, uncared for) and we GOT IN THE FUCKING FIRE TOGETHER. WE did this. we said I AM NOT LEAVING YOU and melted into each other for better or for worse (it’s for better) and we are A FUNCTIONAL UNIT now. DO NOT SEPARATE. BATTERIES FUCKING INCLUDED. FOUND family my ass, we built this non-nuclear family unit from the ground up, don’t devalue this!!! it was is and will be a labour of love!!!

9. Could you be roommates with this character?

It might work out haha. Iirc it was implied when she was staying with Reade that she is not so tidy, and neither am I (although I draw a big distinction between "clean" and "tidy" - I do keep things clean beneath the clutter). So at least in that sense we wouldn't drive each other up the wall. However I think we're both fairly stubborn and while easygoing about many things, when we do have an opinion I think it is An Opinion, so there is a good potential for some butting of heads lol

10. Could you be best friends with this character?

I'm not sure about that. Beyond being untidy and stubborn I don't think we have a ton in common. We like different sports, very different professional interests and expertise, etc. None of that is deal breakers for a friendship, so it's possible. But I think it would only happen if we were forced to spend enough time, maybe by a mutual friend or some project or other circumstance, to get past the initial "I don't know how to make small talk with you" phase and into appreciating each other's actual personality, values etc.

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

Um so, my brain is about as robust as wet spaghetti recently. I spent a few hours mulling this in the background and I am 97% sure I had an interesting headcanon for Zapata (I think around season 3ish?), but hell if I can remember what it was right now. 😅 If I remember it or think of a different one, I'll reblog again lol

14. Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character.

I will be honest I know very little about fashion. She dressed well and wore it well, at least once she joined CIA. Maybe we could call it, business chic? In seasons 1 and 2 she and Jane were both a little more on the sporty side, weren't they? But that was cool for them, too. Very different show after season 2. Professionals instead of rookies.

4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?

Oooooh! This is a fun one!!! Two options:

A movie. Zapata always had a hard edge to her, and the CIA sharpened her. I could see a feature-length film set between when she left the FBI and when Keaton sent her to Blake Crawford's gala, to explore what made her so much rougher and what made Keaton think she would be "perfect" for such a dark, dangerous, highly compartmentalized op that's so completely outside the lines of anything she would have considered before.

The other is a Tasha Zapata PI series. @guadalajara92 already gave us an AMAZING trailer/edit for what that might look like.* (Maybe a limited series though, because I wouldn't want them to turn it into another run-of-the-mill procedural... and maybe not NBC. xD Somewhere it could be as dark and gritty as it, and Tasha, deserve. 💕) *if anyone's reading this who hasn't finished the series and looking to be surprised at the end, maybe hold off on watching that trailer, it draws from the series finale.

Yay yay yay thank you thank you!!! (and of course you go for the hard if most appropriate one!!!)

25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now?

First impression is really hard for me to quantify, given that she was revealed to us in little drips and drabs, and mostly through the lens of her relationships with just a few people. I suppose through what little we saw in seasons 1-2 I saw her as a slightly tragic badass. I was already reading fanfic before I finished the series (I was stretching it out, didn't want it to end!! T_T) and so I think my enduring impression of her is undoubtedly shaped by your Damaged Goods series and @idealisticrealism's From the Ashes/Into Flames. I don't think I could possibly describe her or my ongoing impressions of her in any way that comes even remotely close to your labours of love, except to say that I love her, too.

(Everyone go read those damn fics I can't shut up about them I am wayyyyyy overdue for a rearead)

I thought of his flamethrower and 🔥 immediately and I'm pretty sure that would be his most-used emoji too (notwithstanding all the eggplant/aubergine he'd send to a few people, especially Kurt). xD

18. How about a relationship they have in canon with another character that you admire?

Jane. Especially after 5x01/the boat, they have so much in common - both good and very bad - that the rest of the team absolutely cannot and will never be able to understand. They almost never talk about it (we hardly ever even see them alone together in canon) but when they do it always felt to me like there was a kind of "old souls recognizing each other" sort of friendship between them.

20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?

Same answer as above. In times of real upheval and turmoil, I think Colorado would be a place he would go for rest and guidance, kinship and a particular kind of understanding.

Other best friend? Patterson, depending how you interpret them post canon. It's my personal headcanon that what we see at the end of 5x11 is one third real on paper/platonic in practice (P/R), one third not on paper/super not platonic at all (R/B), one third platonic and not on paper (B/P): there are a lot of places in the world an unwed woman couldn't go unescorted and a marriage license would facilitate their treasure hunting adventures around the world, similar to what they did in Peru. I view it as a pragmatic arrangement, not married married. (and with no disrespect to polys; I just personally didn't see marital chemistry in that trio, much as I personally don't ship Reade/Zapata) And that's only going to succeed because it's based in a strong friendship, of course - they're choosing to live together and be partners, and that's not nothing. In this interpretation they're definitely besties.

This might sound... I dunno... trite? But I love the way the fandom loves her. Everyone treats her gently, or if they don't, it's immediately followed by some speedy comfort on top of that hurt. I've seen tragedies written for the whole team, and she sometimes experiences tragedy-by-proxy when someone else goes Through It, but I've not seen any tragic endings for Patterson herself. Who is LeBron? Tattoo Squad and the fandom seem to be in agreement: it's Patterson. 😊💕
