Part of my gift to @annelaurant for the Aveyond Winter Exchange! This was the greatest prompt I could have fulfilled. I did, in fact, go back and play all of AV1 again just so I could immerse myself in the game and its mechanics just for this bit.

Aight my first art piece done for 2024! This one was actually a wip back in 2022 so I’m not sure if this actually counts lol.
Anyway just enjoy the beautiful view with these babies as they live this happy moment. They picked an undiscovered location near Clearwater which was a whole meadow with flowers everywhere.
Remember that small cave in Clearwater that we go through to enter the forest? Lars accidentally blew the wall using those dynamites to prove a point during an argument (I don’t know what that argument was though lol), and VOILA! Secret location unlocked.
Of course they had to make a flower crown. Where there’s a field of flowers, a floral crown shall be made. Obviously Rhen was the one who made them and taught Lars as she was crafting them.

Aveyond 1: Rhen's Quest Cinematic Poster (2023)

My biggest, most ambitious edit yet. I used AI to create the base characters, which I then used Illustrator and Photoshop to extensively alter and change the aspects to fit their characters more - like hair, clothes, hair and eye colours, etc.

First of all, I want to apologise to anyone, my artist friends in particular, if I have indeed hurt your feelings at the mention of using AI to generate the base characters - it was not my intention to do so ;_;
I'm conflicted. Like I said on Twitter and Discord, I love how the program aided me in my vision for this particular fanart - however, I hate where it mines its data from and I completely understand if anyone is upset with me ;_;

I tried my best to get them to look like their characters, and I’m pretty satisfied with how they turned out. I also altered a lot of their clothes and hair, especially Te’ijal and Dameon’s.
Oh yeah, it was frustrating when the AI refused to make Lars look more South East Asian, so I had to really amend his look and skin colour (hope I did him justice lol since he’s my fave). Also PJ and Elini were particularly hard to generate too, because their skin tone kept getting lightened - of course, I darkened it myself, and I think I did a decent job.
Also, I tried my best to get diverse facial features, but, AGAIN, the AI kept making them look like models lmao (recurring pattern here! sigh)

Yayyy I finally colored this piece! Part 1 of ??? Anne’s Drakenierveyond series: featuring Rhen and Lars (Aveyond 1) in the roles of the intoner Two and her disciple Cent (Drakengard 3). I altered a few details for the outfits since there’s just way too much detail, but once I got to the coloring it got really, really fun. Oh, boy, I’m sure gonna enjoy the next one.
Cheesy story below (with some death true to Drakengard fashion):
Once upon a time, many moons ago, there was a kind and beautiful sword singer. She was born into the world with a heart filled with compassion and gentleness. For this very reason, everyone saw her as a princess.
The true lords of the lands envied her for the love the populace endowed her. For this, the lords transformed the people into hideous monsters to terrify others into obedience and hopefully slay the false princess. True to her kindhearted nature, the sword singer was hesitant to slay them.
Fortunately, her lover was very smart. He taught her that the transfigured people would rather die by her hands, than live on suffering their fates at the hands of the merciless lords. And so, taking her weapon in her hand, the sword singer vowed to put the monsters to peaceful rest, protect the people she ruled over, and destroy the lords who violate the lands.
In her journey, by her side stood her loyal, handsome lover, who supported her as she took the tyrannical lords down. With him and his wisdom, she had nothing else to fear. She used her power of song to save everyone.
With the lords stuck down, the people of the lands rejoiced in their newfound peace. They crowned the sword singer as their true princess, with her handsome lover her prince. Together, they ruled their subjects towards prosperity.
And they lived happily ever after, forever, and ever, and ever!
...
"Sooo, what do you think?"
Rhen asks with a hopeful smile. She bats her eyes and pouts when she sees Lars' lips form a frown of disapproval.
"Come onnn; it can't be that bad!"
"Well, it isn't, but..."
"It's not like you can write your own story, either!"
Lars snorts.
"Okay, no, that's not it." His response made her sigh in relief. "You said you wrote a fairy tale, right?"
"Yeah! I did, didn't I? There's a prince, and a princess, and a kingdom that needs to be saved! And with the help of the prince and the princess' magic, the kingdom was saved!"
"Rhen, how can that be a fairy tale when that's literally our story?"
"It's not 100% accurate to real life events!"
"Alright, maybe it has some fictional elements, but it's still our story. So it's not exactly a fairy tale."
Rhen pouts again and pulls Lars closer. "Why not?" She pleaded, "Won't you reconsider? It's still like a fairytale!"
Lars rolls his eyes. "I think our story should be considered history, not a fairy tale."
"Well, I don't care! I want everyone to know I live a fairy tale life with my handsome prince charming."
Adoration fills Lars' eyes, even if he acts like he doesn't like it. "Alright, I suppose you now want a reward for your efforts."
"I do! And you know what it is."
As Lars cups her face and kisses her, Rhen's heart beats with much happiness and makes a tiny little wish: I wish we could be like this forever and ever ever!

Throwback Aveyond art
Rhen (the girl) was made in 2010, Lars (the boy) in 2015, but I feel like I did Rhen better. I dunno. Maybe it’s the hair and clothes. I’m still proud of them, though. I’m amazed that I’m not actually that shabby even almost a decade ago.
I painted Rhen as a one-for-one copy based on a photo reference, with the only change I made being the colour of the hair and eyes, and adding a little extension to the hair for her braid. With Lars I tried to draw the hair and clothes to fit the game art from imagination, and not just copying off the photo reference (the male model had different hairstyle).

Larshen here, but in a traditional Emirati style! Thanks to Areath’s and Anne’s lovely illustrations, I got motivated to do mine :D
In this scenario it’s Eid Al Fitr (the one that comes directly after Ramadan), and both Rhen and Lars (they’re newlyweds here) are getting ready to visit their families and loved ones.
I’ll start with what Lars is wearing since it’s less than what Rhen has on her since she’s covered from head to toe oop-
As you can see, the white clothing he’s wearing is called Kandora, which is usually made out of cotton. The white ornament dangling from his neck is a Farukha. Similarly his headscarf? turban (I have no idea what you call it in English) is called Ghutra. Sometimes the Ghutra is wrapped around the Ugal which is a black headband.
He’s holding an incense burner (Mibkhara) that has, well, an incense with a nice aroma and putting it near her hair so it also has a similar scent.
Rhen is wearing a Mukhawar, another traditional clothing that usually has beautiful patterns on it and is usually made out of cotton too but can also be silk or other material. At the top of the dress and the bottom of the sleeves are usually embroidered with all different kinds of designs. Her arms and probably her legs are covered with henna designs, and these usually last around two weeks. She’s also wearing the traditional gold jewelry which Lars probably gifted her.
Activities that Rhen and Lars would likely participate in during Eid: - Trying out delicious food: Rhen would definitley love desserts such as Luqaimat (fried dough balls topped with date syrup and sprinkled sesame at top) while Lars would be into the main meal, Biryani (rice mixed with several spices usually served with meat or chicken).
- Visiting relatives: You know, just Rhen and Lars visiting their in laws and relatives. It was awkward at the beginning when they were at Rona’s place but Lars made sure to break the ice between them (he wasn’t successful). On the contrary, Rhen’s relatives were very welcoming towards the couple.
- Playing with fireworks at the end of the day ayyyeee
- Receiving money from adults

I’ve always wondered how Aveyond would look like as an anime so I constructed my own in the style of screencaps! This is my first time dabbling in the anime artstyle/genre, the wonky parts are sooo obvious - I tried my best (you should see the amount of Google tabs I have opened for references) and came up with this!
