The Museum of the City of New York has sent the United States Patent and Trademark Office several patent applications related to Web3. The history and art museum in Manhattan, which opened in 1923, plans to sell downloadable cryptocurrency collectibles, tokens that can't be used to buy other things, and application tokens. The museum has six departments that are in charge of putting things together. These departments are for photos, theater, decorative arts, costumes, paintings, and sculptures. Its collections also look at the Big Apple's cultural and economic importance. Museums aren't only about the past. Last year, NFTs became very popular, and many museums moved to take advantage of the trend. Before Valentine's Day, the Belvedere museum in Vienna dropped "The Kiss," a famous painting by the Austrian symbolist painter Gustav Klimt. Last September, the British Museum entered the NFT space by working with start-up LaCollection to release a collection of digital Hokusai postcards. In January, augmented reality was shown at the Serpentine Gallery in London by the American contemporary artist KAWS. In May, the first NFT museum opened in Seattle to show what digital art is all about. Η Ιταλία παγώνει τις σχέσεις με εταιρείες που παράγουν NFT έργα από τα μουσεία της

Όταν την περασμένη χρονιά η Πινακοθήκη Ουφίτσι της Φλωρεντίας πούλησε ένα NFT του έργου Doni Tondo του Μιχαήλ Άγγελου για 240.000 ευρώ, έμοιαζε η κίνηση αυτή να είναι η αρχή μιας νέας πηγής εσόδων για το μουσείο. Υπήρχε και ο σχετικός ενθουσιασμός του κόσμου της τέχνης γύρω από τα κρυπτονομίσματα με τους οίκους δημοπρασιών να κάνουν ειδικό τμήμα για να χειρίζεται θέματα που σχετίζονται με τέτοιου είδους αγοραπωλησίες και η Ιταλία που έχει πετσοκομμένους προϋπολογισμούς για έργα συντήρησης το αντιμετώπισε αρχικά θετικά.

Στη συνέχεια, αποδείχθηκε ότι η εταιρεία τεχνολογίας με την οποία συνεργάστηκε το μουσείο για την παραγωγή του ψηφιακού έργου πήρε ένα μεγάλο ποσοστό από την πώληση με αποτέλεσμα τα έσοδα του μουσείου να είναι μόνο 70.000 ευρώ δηλαδή κάτι παραπάνω από το ένα τρίτο του ποσού της πώλησης.

Τώρα, το ιταλικό υπουργείο αρμόδιο για τα μουσεία της χώρας ζήτησε από τα ιδρύματα να διακόψουν προσωρινά τις συμβάσεις με τους παρόχους NFT, επικαλούμενο "ανεξέλεγκτους" όρους, τα λεγόμενα «ψιλά γράμματα» που θα μπορούσαν να επηρεάσουν την πολιτιστική κληρονομιά της χώρας.

Το Ουφίτσι συνήψε πενταετές συμβόλαιο για την ψηφιακή αναπαραγωγή έργων τέχνης από τη συλλογή του με την εταιρεία τεχνολογίας Cinello με έδρα το Μιλάνο.

Καθένα από τα ψηφιακά έργα, τα οποία η Cinello ονομάζει DAWs, πιστοποιήθηκαν στην αλυσίδα μπλοκ Ethereum και διακινήθηκαν ως NFTs σε συνδυασμό με την Unit, μια αντιπροσωπεία σύγχρονης τέχνης στο Λονδίνο. Τα έργα κατασκευάστηκαν σε εκδόσεις των εννέα, με τιμές μεταξύ 100.000 και 250.000 ευρώ το καθένα.

Μετά τα έξοδα παραγωγής η Cinello θα μοιραζόταν 50/50 τα έσοδα με το Ουφίτσι. Μόνο που η παραγωγή κοστίζει περισσότερα από 100.000 ευρώ μαζί με την αμοιβή της εταιρείας.

Αρχικά, το NFT σχεδιάστηκε να είναι σε ένα υβριδικό ψηφιακό και φυσικό τεχνούργημα, συνδυάζοντας ένα ξύλινο αντίγραφο του πρωτότυπου πλαισίου, με μια οθόνη και ένα τσιπ όπου το αντίγραφο του έργου καταγραφόταν ως NFT.

Όμως, όταν η εφημερίδα La Repubblica δημοσίευσε ένα άρθρο στο οποίο αναρωτιόταν ποιος κατέχει τα ψηφιακά δικαιώματα του έργου Doni Tondo του Μιχαήλ Άγγελου, ο διευθυντής του Ουφίτσι Έικε Σμιντ, παραδέχτηκε ότι το μουσείο δεν είχε προβεί σε επαρκή νομικό έλεγχο όταν επρόκειτο να δομηθεί η συμφωνία γύρω από το NFT.

Αγοράζοντας ψηφιακά αντίγραφα των έργων της συλλογής του Ουφίτσι, οι νέοι ιδιοκτήτες μπορούν θεωρητικά να τα εκθέτουν και να τα ελέγχουν στην επαυξημένη και εικονική πραγματικότητα, καθώς και σε αναδυόμενα περιβάλλοντα όπως το metaverse. Αυτό θα μπορούσε να φέρει ιδρύματα όπως το Ουφίτσι σε δύσκολη θέση όταν πρόκειται να ελέγξει τα έργα που πουλάει από τη δική του συλλογή στις εκκολαπτόμενες πλατφόρμες metaverse.

Η νέα φάση των συμφωνιών που πρέπει να κάνουν τα μουσεία είναι εξαιρετικά περίπλοκη γι' αυτό και το Ιταλικό κράτος παγώνει -σε ότι αφορά τα δημόσια μουσεία- αυτή την πρακτική ώστε να αποφευχθούν οι αθέμιτες συμβάσεις.

Η ιταλική εταιρεία Cinello υποστηρίζει ότι όλα τα δικαιώματα επί του έργου παραμένουν στο μουσείο, δηλώνοντας ότι έχει στόχο να βοηθήσει το μουσείο να εισπράττει τα πνευματικά δικαιώματα και να συνδράμει στην εξεύρεση των αναγκαίων κεφαλαίων για την προστασία, τη συντήρηση και τη διατήρηση των πρωτοτύπων που βρίσκονται στη συλλογή του και όχι να διασκορπίσει ανά τον κόσμοτην ιταλική πολιτιστική κληρονομιά.

Η Cinello συνεργάζεται με άλλα 10 ιταλικά μουσεία, μεταξύ των οποίων το Museo di Palazzo Pretorio και η Pinacoteca di Brera di Milano, ενώ άλλες εταιρείες όπως η LaCollection, ανακοίνωσαν πρόσφατα παρόμοιες συνεργασίες, μεταξύ άλλων με το Βρετανικό Μουσείο και το Μουσείο Καλών Τεχνών της Βοστώνης.

Το Κρατικό Μουσείο Ερμιτάζ στην Αγία Πετρούπολη της Ρωσίας έχει επίσης προβεί σε τέτοιες συνεργασίες και δημοπράτησε αντίγραφα NFT των πέντε πιο γνωστών πινάκων του, αποκομίζοντας τότε 444.000 δολάρια, ενώ το Μουσείο Belvedere στη Βιέννη ψηφιοποίησε μια εικόνα του έργου Το φιλί του Γκούσταβ Κλιμτ, που κυκλοφόρησε ως μια σειρά 10.000 NFT την περασμένη Ημέρα του Αγίου Βαλεντίνου, το καθένα με τιμή 0,65 Ethereum (περίπου 1.950 δολάρια τότε), αποφέροντας έσοδα περίπου 4,5 εκατομμυρίων δολαρίων.

Σε μια αγορά που δεν έχουν ρυθμιστεί σημαντικές λεπτομέρειες όλοι βρίσκονται σε αναμονή για να κατανοήσουν το ακριβές πλαίσιο αλλά και να εκτιμήσουν μια πιθανή ζημία στο κάθε μουσείο που κάνει τα βήματά του στην ψηφιακή αγορά.
