━ twisted fate
@krxjieun Kyungsoo walks in a fast pace down the corridor, pretending to know where he goes and each corner of the palace as if he’s been living there all of his life. He has always been good at hiding his intentions and keeping a poker face, so he supposes he can do that in this world as well.
He’s been hearing rumours, people talking about the third princess, which he hasn’t set his eyes on ever since he woke up in his new body. One of the maids have been going around with clean robes, back and forth from the princess’s room, so he inquires about all that fuss. She bows her head when she sees him and he has to admit that he likes the power that he holds against those of lower status or hierarchy.
The princess is being groomed. In a few days, she will be sent to her soon-to-be husband. He is from a different city and the agreement is merely political, he understands, mainly made to reinforce the power of the current king. She is just a bargaining chip and he is feeling bad for her.
Something compels him to stand outside of her room after sending the maid away. He’s not there to calm her or to make her feel better, but maybe that’s exactly what he’s there to do. “Princess? May I be allowed to enter?”

the observation of the mudang...
@minseokxkr
>>                             Imperial Palace Dining Hall, 8:35 p.m.                              <<
To say she was terrified was an understatement. Although it had been hours since she had awoken in this dream, each moment felt less and less like a dream and more like reality and the thought panicked her. It didn’t help that she was hardly ever alone and many people kept poking and prodding, asking questions she couldn’t answer, and calling her by a name that was so old fashioned she wanted to giggle every time she heard it.
Her day had started with her being woken up, “washed”, dressed, and led to various parts of the Palace to...sit. At first she was confused as to why everyone who walked into a room kept caressing her as they entered, the close proximity giving her just a glimpse into their emotions, her eyes glazing over, but it was too many people at once and the daze she felt receded and ushered in the pain so by the time it was dinner--she had perked up at the sound of that, surely she could have her meal in peace, only to be disappointed it wasn’t her dinner, but the royal family’s--Mihyun felt like she had been hit by a truck, or at least a horse drawn cart as she was lead to the dining hall.
It was appropriately grand and excessively massive. Everywhere she looked there was decoration and colors so bright it made her feel dizzier and the damn headdress just made her neck cramp and her head hurt from the sheer size and weight of it. Then it started again, the people, only this time Mihyun recognized them from the few historical dramas she had seen: ministers. They chattered incessantly until a door was thrown open somewhere to her right--she couldn’t see much through the beads of her headdress--and the royal family was announced.
Mihyun, annoyed, reached up and parted the beads to gaze upon the King, his wife, and the princes and princesses, unable to suppress the “woah” that issued from her lips. A hand reached out and slapped hers, causing Mihyun to hiss. Her gaze met the stern priestess who looked murderous and Mihyun choked back a retort, knowing she’d pay for it later.

running bait || kjd&mh
@krxmihyun
People around him doesn’t seem to be helpful at all. They all look at him like he’s nuts once he starts talking and ask him to repeat himself twice and thrice when he adds a word they never heard off. He doesn’t understand nor does he understand some of the words they use as well but when he does, he recognises how archaic they are.  Maybe it’s the smell or the surroundings, but he seems to be assimilating that world as he walks down the street -- or path because there are no words and he wonders how they’d look at him if he tried to explain what those are. They travel on animals’ backs, on self-made carts pulled by donkeys or cattle and he has not seen a horse just yet. The friend who woke him up before stares at him when he gets annoyed with the lack of mobility around and asks for a horse then. Apparently, horses are only for nobility.
He plays the man’s game, asks for the year and the king’s name. He is told, but his brain takes time to process the information because he remembers reading those in history books. The theories start forming immediately in his head. He’s hallucinating; he probably is sick and dying somewhere and that is the result of a deadly fever that is making him delirious. That would explain a lot, but everything seems so real that he can’t find the flaws in what he thinks is a fantasy world.
“You need a priest”, the man says, mocking Jongdae’s despair, but soemthing actually clicks in his head and he stops on his tracks. “That’s it!” He utters as if the words made all the sense in the world. It’s probably weird, but he thinks he remembers something or there is this weird sensation when the suggestion is given. “Where do I find it?”
“She’s busy. And I thought you told me she got you into trouble?”
She? Jongdae tilts his head like a puppy and his newly found long locks follow his head’s movement. He doesn’t know where he’s getting into, but he is given an address that he has no idea how to find and another warning.  Somehow, he manages to only get lost twice and there are no guards in sight, so he didn’t have to run for his life just yet. He’s there, but he doesn’t know what to do so he claps outside to call whoever may be inside. He’s seen it in old movies and that feels historically accurate. He just hopes she’s around.

a view into the future...
@krvictoria
>>                                          Imperial Palace, 12:00                                          <<
Mihyun shook in anticipation. Since the royal decree early in the day, Mihyun had waited to speak with Jang Mi, the gisaeng and particular favorite of Prince Wang-Gu, or that’s how the rumor went. Mihyun knew that there was a high possibility the Prince was like them: Someone from the future. Saying the words aloud made them real and Mihyun had to stave off the crushing realization of being stuck in the past. Things had started to get to her until the news spread like wildfire, especially in the Palace.
There seemed to be a hole, a glimpse into the future, into the time she belonged in and if anyone knew how to reach it or any other information, Jang Mi with her inside sources would and that was precisely why Mihyun was hiding in a room near the Prince’s quarters waiting for Jang Mi’s business to be done.

a different sunrise || event
Jongdae has the biggest headache he’s had in years when he opens his eyes. He doesn’t remember drinking that much much less to the point of passing out and having no recollection of what got him in such state. His surroundings are another thing entirely. The smell is strong and it’s all around him, in the air, on his clothes, he feels disgusting but that is to be expected when one wakes up in what he’d call ‘horse box’. That one is empty safe for the hay he’s laying down on.
What the fuck?
He inspects what he is wearing, but nothing really registers in his mind. The dirty black robes bring him no memory that can help his case and he doesn’t remember going to a theme party the night before. One of the long sleeves is ripped and there’s a badly bandaged wound on his arm. Another novelty. Double what the fuck.
Someone walks in hurriedly and instinctively, he flinches before getting on his feet. “You’re awake! You can’t stay here, you must hurry” says a short male, wearing a similar style of clothes as Jongdae’s but visibly cleaner than him. He has never seen that person and the way they talk makes him think of those old period dramas he’s seen on tv. Too bad there’s no subtitles there.
“Where am I?” he asks, carding his hair with his fingers to remove any pieces of hay possibly stuck on it and then another realisation hits him: long hair.
He must look insane and utterly confused because the male previously telling him to get out is now taking pity on him, flailing and asking him if he hit his head. Jongdae doesn’t understand the question but he nods when the man points at his own head, gesticulating for better communication. “Who am I?” The older asks, but Jongdae doesn’t have an answer. He shakes his head “Who am I, Gosam? OH! Are you playing a trick on me? Is this how you’re going to act? That may be clever actually… but what are you going to do with your face? It’s been set out and they’re even offering a reward. You are worth thirty coins… I didn’t realise you got this famous but I suppose that breaking into the palace grounds got you far in life.”
“Who’s Gosam?”
“You are! Don’t play stupid.”
“Whoever that is, I think there’s been a mistake here.”
“Rumour says you threatened the prince.They’re making it out to be a bigger issue, aren’t they? You wouldn’t do that. You’re a thief, not an assassin.”
“I’m a what?”
“Gosh, what’s wrong with you? Anyway, go wash that face at least and get out. I heard they are doing searches in this area today and the last thing I need is to follow you to jail and then to the noose.”
Nothing makes sense to him, but he has no option as he is dragged out and thrown a clean rag, a few old clothes and pointed in the direction of a shallow riverbank. He looks at the archaic thing in awe and confusion. That is one fucked up dream.
He throws the wooden bucket down, pulls the rope and collects the water. He gets rid of his ripped and blood-stained clothes, washes the dirt off of his arms and cleans up the wounds. Some don’t look fresh at all and on his chest, a plethora of scars that he has never seen. And then he kneels down, leans forward to look at his own reflection and scares himself to death because he doesn’t recognize that person. Jongdae raises a hand to his hair again, messy and long and then to his face, completely different from what he always knew, the facial hair, the slightly tan skin and he understands nothing. Reality doesn’t dawn on him and he has no idea when it will, but pinching himself won’t do anything – he’s tried.
He gets up with renewed determination, cleans up, struggles a bit with his clothes, but manages and heads back to the one who added a name to that face he’s ‘wearing’. He needs answers.

The city is in a state of alert. An unknown witness has claimed to see someone coming out of a big light and later on reported that while looking through the ‘hole’, a new and strange city appeared on the other side. The witness has been held in custody for further inquiring and his royal highness, the king, has declared a strict curfew that demands that no one is to leave their houses or wander around once the sun has set. Any citizen that is caught breaking the royal decree will be immediately taken into custody and imprisoned. Any resistance or insubordination will be punished accordingly. Any suspicious acts or behavior is expected to be reported immediately and those who refuse to do so will be held under the accusation of treason, which is punishable by death.
details:
For those who were not fortunate to get a clue, we bring you a second task. Your muse is not safe anymore. For some unknown reason, the time warp is not as stable as it would expected to be. The fact that time is passing and people that do not belong in that timeline are spending too much time in it, is slowly making things change -- which is not supposed to happen. The fact that people from the past are in the future and vice versa has created a glitch and opened a portal. The portal is tiny as for now and is nothing but a small peephole from which anyone can peek into the next world. The images that this witness has seen are of the future -- Seol, 2018 -- and of the city’s buildings, streets, and so on. As you can imagine, the shock was immense and that glimpse should NOT have happened at all.
The information above has been announced around town, through a decree read out loud for a gathered together crowd.
For this task, your muse’s objective is to reach the local where the portal is located without being caught which is not going to be easy at all. The royal palace is closed and heavily guarded; the streets are being monitored and there are guards everywhere, so any suspicious or abnormal behavior will cause them to be held and taken into custody. (by all means, if you want your muse to go to jail, go ahead, just be sure to be realistic with the treatment they’ll receive in there because they’re bound to be tortured for information if they don’t cooperate.
To fulfil this task, you can:
- write a solo with their reaction (200+ words )
- write a para/script with another mun/muse who is participating in the event with this situation as a scenario
- we don’t see this task as “mandatory”, but if your muse is participating in the event, we expect them to be interactive in it or it wouldn’t make sense for them to be there in the first place, so we would love to see your take on a situation like this.
- tag all of your posts, written or graphic with the event’s tag:    krevent; goryeo for tracking purposes.
Have fun and happy roleplaying ~

@krxwonho He is holding a basket. There is medicine inside, but he can’t tell since he has been given those and told to follow one of the guards. He has been asking himself what the hell is going on ever since he found himself with a different face and a few missing body parts. He is definitely not over that yet.
The door is opened and the man moves back, allowing him to go inside while he bows respectfully. Kyungsoo noticed how no one seems to look him in the eye, so whoever that man who’s body he’s occupying is, he must be important in there. Inwardly, Kyungsoo likes that development, even in that god forsaken place and age.
He is supposed to help someone with their wounds. Nothing too serious, they say, their ego may be more bruised than their body is. It’s a relief, of course, he just hopes that in addition to being an eunuch, he is not a doctor as well or he will be increasing the mortality rate in that land faster than a plague would.  He goes inside, watches the door being closed behind him and mentally prepares to be the best actor to ever exist so that the unknown man laying on the bed doesn’t suspect him.
“I am here to tend to your wounds, sir. May I look over them?”

{ mirror mirror on the wall,                    who shall rise and who shall fall?
truth is the only language it will speak                    once you allow yourself to peek }
Mirrors seem to be in everyone’s way. Whether you have one in your room, or you walk past a glass window, anything that reflects will make you gasp with what you see in it. Your face… is not the same as before. Your body may not move the same way, your traits are no longer yours but that “mask” of flesh gives you no option but to wear it for the time being so make the best out of it… while you can.

details:
For those who were not fortunate to get a clue, we bring you a task. Your muse has realized their surroundings before and how strange everything and everyone looks and behaves, however, they have probably not seen their own reflection until now. The shock is real, their face is not the one they know yet no one can explain why that is because to them, it looks normal – but your behavior doesn’t.
For this task, you can:
- write a small solo with their reaction (150+ words )
- write a para/script with another mun/muse who is participating in the event with this situation as a scenario
- for the artsy bunch out there, you can make a moodboards/aesthetic post for your muse with the look they now have in ancient Goryeo. as your muse is now in the body of a complete stranger to them, this means that you can pick a new face to associate them with in this new adventure. The only requirement for this is that you pick a face that is fitting (aka, actors/actresses/people who have participated in period dramas/movies, because this is for aesthetic and reference purposes after all, so that those who interact with your muse know how they look now. This applies to the written part as well. If you pick a reference faceclaim, make sure to add a tag with the fc name to your post so we can keep up with who is who – just for fun ~
- this task is not mandatory, it’s just a fun game within the event so it’s up to you to do it or not, but it would be fun to see.
- tag all of your posts, written or graphic with the event’s tag:    krevent; goryeo for tracking purposes.
Have fun and happy roleplaying ~

                                     ╾ New year, old trials!
Three hundred and sixty-five days go by in a flash for those who cannot be bothered to count the days, hours and seconds; for those to whom time is simply a notion, something that is there, ticking away. It is regarded for what it is, written in poems and dissertations by those with enough time to think about it – the thief of modern times, the villain that cannot be stopped because to stop is to die and to be lost in time, stuck in its infinite loop, is to give up. Yet, time is benevolent, or so he thinks, for its notion of benevolence clashes with its wicked nature.
The first day of the year comes with thunder and light, bolts of artificial colors and fake stars descending from the skies. No golden god is responsible for it anymore, no one adores the skies or whatever once lived there and in the midst of their fake happiness that will fade once the night turns into day and there is no more celebration, time contemplates a twist.
The players are set on the board. Kings, queens, nights and pawns lined up by a bored child with all the time in the world to play. As the light flares cease to be and the hours carry the sound of laughter away, Hypnos sheds its sleeping veil over the city and allows Morpheus to spread its dreaming spell over the land. The hours tick away steady like clockwork, but on the last second remaining before the rising of Eos, the clock’s hands stop moving forward.
      5….
             4….
                   3…
                        2…
                              1…
“Stop the clock and move it back,      all the way ‘til there’s no track  open your eyes and you may behold,                dirt and mold                        or                silk and gold
                                                           you are yourself and only you                                                                                                       but not one soul believes it’s true                                                      in all the twists and turns you’ll learn                                                          that only freedom is yours to earn
         if you want your journey to be short rather than long,                        make them believe that you belong               and while blending in with those you’ll meet,                       don’t forget to find what doesn’t fit.”
The year is 940. It’s been twenty-two years since king Taejo established the state of Goryeo and four years after the unification of the Three Kingdoms. Taejo is still the ruling king; Hyejong its natural successor, having been proclaimed Crown Prince and Royal Successor nineteen years prior. The time is of apparent peace and seemingly good changes.
No one knows how it happened. Most may perceive it as a dream until things start looking too real for it to be one. The clothes, the surroundings, the strange way everyone talks… it makes you think yet it’s nowhere near enough to make you understand. Your last recollection seems to be of bright neon lights and cheerful, familiar voices yet, now, you find yourself trapped in strange place, feeling like you entered a time machine that is nowhere to be found. You are not entirely wrong, but you are not right either.
You have been transported, by unknown means to you, traveled centuries in time, landed in a time where acting different and confused can be a death sentence. But that is not all. No one seems to find you different from who you were the previous night, it’s you who can’t pinpoint people’s faces or add names to go with it. The hierarchy is marked on your skin, on the silk robes you wear or the dirty fabric of something way more plain. You may be worth much, something or nothing and you may want to find your place in this world before someone else does it for you. There is no easy way out although every game is made to be won and every riddle has an answer; every story has a loophole. Something doesn’t fit in that picture, you just need to find it before time runs out and that world claims you as its own.
_______________________________________
OOC details:
Congratulations! Father Chronos was bored again and on its way out to play with all of its children, they have sent your characters back in time. It’s all fun and games until you wake up in one of the most turbulent eras that most of your muses have only read in history books. Now it’s the time to dust that knowledge that god buried away and use it in order to survive this new challenge.
Everyone was transported to this ancient time, no exceptions. Humans favored by the gods (aka those who have their god-spirits) retained them and therefore still have their abilities (although you may want to be cautious using those). Humans without spirits were also dragged into this mess, they are all pawns to the wicked god after all ~
Your muse wakes up in the body of an existing person in that era. Whether there has been a switch and their souls were transported to the future while the exchange happened or not, remains a mystery. People in town seem to find your behavior odd as well as your lack of memory regarding recent or past life events. If you are not careful, some may deem you as an impostor of sorts and the consequences may be disastrous.
Ranks are important and that is something you will find, sometimes in the hard way. You may wake up as a royal, a noble, a servant or a simple commoner and the people surrounding you will make sure to put you in your right place if you stray from it. Crimes are punished with prison; treason is a death sentence. so, abide and prosper. You will find the riddle mentioned above in different instances after your arrival: whispered in your dreams, written on an ancient book, echoed by a passing poet, sang by a street musician. You must find a way to decipher the riddle, playing a game of ‘intruder’ in order to leave that world behind. Three riddles will be posted during the event and meant to be solved in order to unlock clues. Once you have the answer to the riddle, you must submit it to the main. If your answer is the correct one, you will be given a clue. Once all of the clues are out, you will be given the instructions on how to leave the world you’re in.
A list of roles will be added bellow for you to choose from (all names, including royals, are fictional). In order to enter this event, you must LIKE this post and COMMENT WITH THE ROLE you chose to have. We will update accordingly as roles are taken (for organizational purposes). Once you pick your role, you can start plotting with others.
