Nikolai knew what she meant. ⠀ ⠀ For he felt the same way. ⠀ ⠀ Everyone had an opinion, all of them thought they were right and that their plan would be the solution for solving all of Ravka's problems. ⠀ ⠀ And of course they were the ones who had to hear it; ⠀ ⠀ the saint and the prince, the remaining symbols of power in a country with a crumbled monarchy, surrounded and infected by a darkness of unimaginable proportions. ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀
In this cacophony of voices and opinions, it was hers he wished to hear first.

Nikolai was perched against a pillar, hip canted to support his crossed ankles. He was the very image of relaxation, hair gleaming in the sunlight streaming through the windows like fool's gold. He'd been smiling ; that smile grew wider as she spoke, gleaming white teeth giving off a boyish charm he'd perfected over the years.
"So you admit I spend time being on your mind?" The spark in his brown eyes betrayed his playfulness. "Don't tease me like that, you'll start giving me hope." Kolya pushed himself away from the pillar and as he straightened, it was as if the mask lowered a few inches ; revealing a kingly seriousness he did not often let drift to the surface - but he did, then, for the sun saint.
He took one of her hands in his ; squeezed before holding on lightly. She could pull away from his touch as she pleased. "I promise I have everything under control, Alina." He leaned in - just a smidge, as if conspiring. "I don't want to keep secrets, but I fear the walls have ears, these days."

Deft fingers glided over the spines of every book on the shelf she was surveying. Another sleepless night to her dismay, but at least she could use the time to properly educate herself on Ravkan politics and history. As much as she wanted it to be, simply setting the enemy on fire would not be a wise solution to every Ravkan problem.
She searched the shelf until she found the book she wanted. She reached for it and expected to take it right off the shelf but felt a force keeping it in place--or pulling it back. Huffing, Lark gripped the book and gave it a hard tug. Whoever was pulling it would not win against her. She tugged it again and felt it give way. She nearly stumbled back. Letting out another huff, she glared at the bookshelf.
" Apparat, if that is you I'm going to shove my foot so far up your--" she looked into the space where the book once resided and to her horror she saw the Sun Summoner ( @korolevnas ) .
She quickly moved to the other side of the bookcase and gave a respectful bow to Alina.
" My apologies, Alina. I didn't realize it was you." she held the book out to her. " Here, take it...for the trouble."
