I've had this question churning around in my head and thought I shouldn't ask as your bio says you focus on the BRF. It's about Queen Mary. I know she gave up her citizenship but I still see her as being Australian. With all the rumours out about her husband and a woman in Spain, and now with her new title, I worry that she's OK. Who knows if the rumours are true. But if they are partially true, it's horrible to think she may be trapped in a marriage with responsibilities to the State while her husband is looking elsewhere for his romance. I don't know. It feels heavy to me and I wondered what your sense is. Sorry to stray off topic here as I know there are a lot of royal families and you can't focus on them all.

I think that Queen Mary and King Frederik are going through a rough patch in their marriage at the moment. I don't think they are going to divorce, but that is always an option for Queen Mary if things become unbearable. It is not as if she is stuck in that marriage forever - she can always leave if she wants.

I feel that Mary knows what Frederik is like by now and that part of her anger is that this scandal has played out publicly, instead of behind closed doors. I do think she is very angry at Frederik and they are playing "happy families" for the camera at the moment, while behind the scenes it is a different story.

What happens next is up to both of them. They have various options - they can work through this and emerge with a stronger marriage, they can chose to live separate lives while still being married, and so on. I hope that they can work out an arrangement that satisfies both of them, but that is up to them.

I think that Mary has been looking forward to being Queen and that she is happy with her new title and her new role. I don't feel that she is burdened with the responsibility or anything like that - not yet anyway (who knows how she will feel in five years time).

King Frederik did praise her a lot in his biography "The Kings Word", (Kongeord), released three days after his coronation, so he seems to be committed to staying in the marriage. I hope they can work things out between then, as many couples do after one of them has had an affair (and who knows whether Frederik actually had an affair or not - it is all speculation at this stage).
