DCMK Ship Meme
Here's my filled-out version of @/ natsunombrs_DC's DCMK ship meme from Twitter.
Tumblr media
Explanation of each ship/line color:
Red:
A red line means that this is my all-time favorite ship, and I'm absolutely obsessed with it. Do I have a problem? Maybe. Am I going to do anything about it? Other than make more fan content for them, no.
Ship(s) under this color:
AkAm
Pink:
A pink line (or circle) means that while I'm not quite as obsessed with this ship, I still very much enjoy it.
Ship(s) under this color (not listed in any particular order):
Whiskey Trio
ScotchRye
HiroRei
Nagano Trio
Jodie x Camel
ShinRan
KaiShin
HeiKazu
Sato x Takagi
Sera x Ran
Sonoko x Ran
HagiMatsu
HeiShin
Matsuda x Rei
Kazuha x Ran
Yellow:
A yellow line can mean one of two things. Either I like a ship but not as much as the ships under the pink or red categories, or I don't know enough about one or all of the characters or their relationship in canon to have much of an opinion.
Ship(s) under this color (again, not listed in any particular order):
Rei x Kazami
Akai x Jodie
Akai x Kazami (I didn't actually mean to draw the line there, but when I thought about it, it's actually kind of a cool concept)
Sonoko x Makoto
CoAi (or Shinichi x Shiho)
Vermouth x Kir
Gin x Vodka
GinSherry
Kobayashi x Shiratori
Kogoro x Megure
Kogoro x Eri
Eri x Yukiko
Yusaku x Yukiko
Mary x Tsutomu
Vermouth x Yukiko
Gin x Vermouth
Green:
A green line (or circle) means that I enjoy the dynamic between the characters as a platonic relationship or a familial relationship.
Ship(s) and (found) families under this color:
Akai, Rei, Shinichi
Shinichi, Shiho/Haibara, Detective Boys, Agasa
Akai, Jodie, Camel
Akai siblings
Olive (you know, it would be nice if Tumblr had a few more text color options):
An olive line means that my opinion on a ship is somewhere between passively shipping and NOTP territory. While I don't like the ship, I also don't actively despise it, and I can still see why the ship appeals to others even if it doesn't to me.
Ship(s) under this color:
Akai x Akemi (I very much dislike ships between family members, but their relationship was so tragic in canon that I can't hate it entirely)
AkaiGin
AmuAzu (I do like them as friends, though, plus I've seen fan art for them and it's honestly pretty cute)
Sato x Matsuda
Black:
Self-explanatory, a black line means that the ship is a NOTP for me.
Ship(s) under this color:
Akai x Shiho (something about the idea of Akai finally moving past the dead woman he's still hung up on, only to start dating her sister does not sit entirely right with me)
Rei x Elena
Here's the original template if anyone wants it:

Why do you find Amuro's character annoying? We might have same reasons i guess :X
I’m mostly annoyed by Amuro being shoved in our throats. Generally, I have nothing against him as a character, and my dislike started as a joke because his speech bubbles are just too big and long x)
However, the amount of Amuro recently just annoys me. For god’s sake: “We’re happy to announce that we’ll have 4 covers with Amuro in a row! Last time it was Poirot Amuro, this time it is Apron Amuro!”
Movies with Amuro, merch with Amuro, spin-off (!) with Amuro, new ending with Amuro… That’s just too much. I don’t see the appeal of this character, he doesn’t seem interesting to me, too “TV trope-y”, so to say. Not to mention the fact that he literally wanted to run over Jodie’s friend with a car (Conan’s assumption but it does fit into the narrative).
IMO he is an okay character like Kir, but he certainly doesn’t deserve all the attention and especially spin-off manga. Heiji deserves a spin-off. Takagi deserves a spin-off. Vermouth deserves a spin-off. Amuro doesn’t deserve a spin-off. Akai neither, btw.
Speaking about Akai, though… He seems to possess all traits that made me dislike Amuro (especially being shoehorned into Shinichi’s past), but he annoys me a slight amount less. Akai seems to have a depth in his character. Amuro… doesn’t.
tl;dr Amuro is fine when he’s in a small amount, give me Kir’s return and Heiji’s spin-off and stop turning my favorite manga into Detective Amuro.
P.S. Pixiv also adds a fair share to that annoyance. Detective Conan tag is filled with Amuro, Akai, and Conan in some kind of Imitation Black style.
P.P.S. I ship Amuro with Kir. Anyone? Just me? Okay :’c

wherein the cast of detective conan plays out the end of the world scenario presented in X.
Kamui and his Twin Star is played by Shinichi & Kaito
The Seven Seals would obviously be the “good” guys -- Hattori, Hakuba, Ran... I have Takagi and Akai also listed as Seals, but we’re missing one. Maybe Amuro?
The Angels, obviously, are the Black Organization. Gin, Vodka, Vermouth, Sherry... Again missing two but probably Chianti and Kir for obvious reasons.
Now... here’s the twist. Shinichi (Kamui) has to make a choice -- to defend humanity as a Seal, or to protect the earth as an Angel. Now, Kaito doesn’t know he’s Shinichi’s twin star... but Shinichi does. And it’s Shinichi and no matter the AU, he’s not willing to subject Kaito who’s still low key traumatized by his father’s death (you cannot convince me that he isn’t still harboring wounds from Touichi’s death even in canon) to being the bad guy.
So Shinichi chooses to become an Angel, to be the Kamui who destroys the gods.
Cue pretty much all the Seals going “shit” and trying to find a loophole to make Shinichi not “evil” (but even evil!Shinichi doesn’t actively go out to kill people so... yeah). So I guess Shinichi is kind of a mix of Kamui, Fuuma, and Subaru???

Is it wrong that I find KirVermouth pairing Bondyard, both so hilarious and so cute and heartbreaking at the same time.
Cause Vermouth Knows that Kir is a NOC she KNOWS but she dates her anyways and they both know she knows and they try to keep the whole noc thing out of dates and all like...if you wanna stick close to me and sniff around at work go ahead babe just be careful? But they just...ignore that completely when it comes to dates and all? And they know if Kir is caught they'd both most likely die? And Vermouth still takes that risk?
And they could be mostly professional around everyone else but they just slip up sometimes cause when they're alone they're so sweet with each other and surprisingly domestic?
(and yes I am laughing picturing that when Kir was still Rena on the news she'd be in the middle of doing a report or something and some guy starts heckling her for a date and then Vermouth drives up on her motorcycle to scare the guy off and the whole damn of Japan just sees Rena light up and smile softly)
Hello dear anon!
Nothing wrong with this at all, I think it's a very complex ship too :) also thx for reminding me their ship name is Bondyard, when I posted my last incorrect quote I was breaking my head over it but couldn't remember for good
To be honest it's true that in canon this ship would be destined to end in a tragedy... The whole NOC thing screams forbidden tragic lovers (but from time to time I really live for this trope so yeah)
Also I really love the idea of them being domestic in private like imagine these two badass killers shopping for groceries together and then bake a cake with cute decorations for their anniversary??
What really sold me to this ship was that one panel in the RUM reveal case... Them riding the motorcycle together was just amazing and I can't wait to see it animated one day! It screamed girlfriends right at my face and that's very good for them
So to conclude yes the very circumstances of this ship getting together are indeed hilarious, while them being together is just cute but their near future might get really heartbreaking...
Thanks for leaving this ask!

thinking about how good of a ship jodie/hidemi actually is like, jodie falling for kir who killed her best friend. she knows it's for a mission and it was what kir needed to do she but still, she can't help but resent her a little for that.
ironically, she finds comfort in kir, during those times. because she knows kir hated that she had to kill akai.
and then when jodie finds out akai was actually alive, she feels so guilty about hating kir, that she hated her for nothing. that kir accepted that hate and she was still so kind to her.
and on kir's perspective, the guilt about falling for jodie when she was the one who caused her pain, then knowing she could easily ease that by telling her the truth but she knows she shouldn't. then the guilt of constantly lying to her.
like wow it's so good it's making me insane

last christmas
pairing(s): rei furuya x hiromitsu morofushi, kir x vermouth (mentioned once)
summary: rei spends his first christmas without hiro
w/c: 1.2k
warnings: nothing, except angst
a/n: accidentally posted this days ago dhdnsjh sorry for deleting it! i intended to schedule this for christmas eve but this bitch forgot to choose to schedule post 💀 anw enjoy and happy holidays!
Tumblr media
Nighttime in Tokyo has never been brighter than during the holidays; shopping malls and restaurants are filled with people smiling and humming Christmas melodies, and even the streets are illuminated by festive lights.
The smell of food wafts through the air in each household where friends and families celebrate, sharing meals and exchanging gifts. Couples crowd restaurants to celebrate Christmas together, sharing smiles and soft, hidden touches as they talk about their day and how much they love each other.
Rei has nothing against people who celebrate the holidays (maybe envy that they have someone to spend it with).
After weeks of being away for a mission, he’s finally home. The first thing he notices is how bare and dull his apartment is in contrast to the color and the overall joviality the holiday season brings.
People who knew him as Bourbon wouldn’t be surprised that the perceptive agent doesn’t partake in the festive cheer (perhaps the people who knew him as Rei would, but there aren’t a lot left, especially with his existence practically erased).
And yet, for the first time in years, no garlands were hanging on the wall, no tall tree standing in the corner with tinsel wrapped around and different ornaments hanging in it, nor overflowing food to fill his stomach with.
How could one feel so lonely on a holiday so festive?
Rei wants to laugh at the absurdity of it all.
He never liked Christmas (December in general) in the first place; it is the coldest time of the year. Yet he didn't mind the coldness when it was best by the warmth of the person he spent it with.
Throughout his life, Hiro was always right there by his side. He never missed a birthday, holiday, or milestone, and through thick and thin, he was there.
The mute boy whom he didn't know would change his life.
Hiro often thanked Rei for helping him find his voice again. And yet Hiro doesn’t know how thankful Rei was that he came into his life, that he made him feel what it was like to be loved.
What it was like to be not alone.
And even in a job where being alone is a necessity to keep oneself safe, he never felt lonely once.
Rei often scolded Hiro about how dangerous it was for the organization to see him in his apartment, yet Hiro never listened to him.
“What would the organization think if they saw you here?”
“That we’re seeing each other?” Hiro answers nonchalantly. “Besides, people from the organization do it all the time. Everyone knows that Kir and Vermouth are sleeping together, so if they assumed the same about us, it’d be no different.”
Rei struggles to keep his face from heating up and the thought of them sleeping together away from his mind.
Truthfully, Rei was glad Hiro never listened to him once. Deep down, he didn’t want to be left alone, and maybe Hiro knew it too.
Hiro made a point to be present every Christmas, taking it upon himself to decorate while Rei cooked. He remembers the first Christmas dish he made while they were still in the academy and how awful it tasted, and how Hiro still managed to compliment him despite the disaster of the stew he made.
It became a tradition. In the quiet of his apartment, they spent the night together and pretended to be ordinary people with no obligations to fulfill.
It came to a point where he was looking forward to celebrating Christmas. The man who hated December now longs for it (after all, who wouldn’t, when you have the one you love the most to celebrate it with?)
And he did last year.
Rei thought he’d surprise Hiro by decorating his apartment on his own for once then he made something fancy for dinner.
He set the food on the table and waited for Hiro to arrive, but he didn’t.
He continued to wait until a message appeared on his phone.
Sorry, I can’t come tonight. They figured out that I’m a cop.
And another.
Take care of yourself and live a long life for me.
And another.
See you later, Rei.
Just when he starts to believe that the holidays bring warmth despite the cold season, he suddenly has no reason to.
Because instead of warmth, he cradled the cold, dead body of his best friend (beloved) in his arms.
The memories of the happy holidays they spent together are forever sullied by the image of Hiro slumped against the wall, lifeless, with a bullet lodged in his chest.
He began to hate December again.
And now, a year later, he stands in his doorway and everything reminds him of how truly lonely he is. Rei thinks about how he should’ve thanked Hiro for sticking around despite everything because now, he would never get the chance to say it to him.
He supposes it’s another thing added to his pile of regrets.
Rei feels the exhaustion seep into his bones. He can’t remember the last time he had a decent night's sleep or a meal in the past week. The mission took more out of him than he expected (or perhaps it was just an excuse, wanting to exhaust himself so he doesn’t have to think about this day, yet he still finds himself doing so).
He sighs and then moves to his kitchen to cook himself a meal. And afterward, a good night’s sleep.
Rei only has enough energy to make something simple, something nutritious to ease his hunger. Cream stew sounds good right now - it takes almost no effort, and it's easy enough to make. He knows the recipe by heart. After all, it was Hiro who taught him how to make it.
Rei made the cream stew like how he used to make it before (perhaps not exactly now that his cooking techniques are more refined). But somehow, everything feels different. He thinks it’s because he takes his time, lingering a bit since he's not cooking for anyone anymore. Or maybe it was the silence (except for the sound of the stew simmering in the pot); he finds the lively chatter and Hiro’s gentle voice guiding him missing.
He turns off the stove as he finishes cooking.
Rei pours the stew on top of his rice and then leaves an empty plate, a set of utensils, and a glass of scotch on the spot opposite his. He puts his hands together and says his gratitude.
He picks his spoon up and begins eating. He smiles at the taste as it brings fond memories of the stubbled man who taught him how to cook, guiding him patiently as he struggled to make his first cream stew. Now, the cream stew on his plate is much better than the first one he made, with no lumps of flour and enough seasonings, and yet he finds himself missing it (and perhaps it's not the awful food he misses but the company he used to have, because what use is good food with no one to share it with?)
He clinks his glass of scotch against the one on the empty spot across him. With a wistful smile, he whispers,
"Merry Christmas."
He doesn’t know to whom he says that (a blatant lie - Rei just refuses to acknowledge that he’s speaking to Hiro’s ghost, whether he believes in paranormal phenomena or not. Perhaps it's the part of him that refuses to let go. And maybe, just maybe, if he continues to deceive himself that he’s still with him, he won’t be lonely, even if it’s just for tonight).
As he finishes eating, he realizes he has made enough food for two people again.
Maybe he’d just give all the excess he made to Kazami tomorrow.
