Every moment of their rogue getaway felt stolen, but Aaron couldn’t find it in him to feel guilty about it as he left the hotel with Maddox without a dark tinted car waiting to drive them. Walking together down the crowded sidewalk, Maddox flung the hood off his head and Aaron directed a grin up at him. For being a king, Aaron hadn’t felt this kind of freedom in a while--not since he spent the night at Maddox’s apartment in Wales free of constant staff and guards. Aaron leaned into Maddox and brushed his fingers against the other man’s hand before lacing their fingers together. “This first place is for the hipsters who like their high test craft beers. You will fit right in with your haircut,” Aaron teased.

They ran so fast that Aaron’s baseball cap flew off a couple blocks ago, but there was no time to stop for it. When the coast was clear they turned around a corner and collapsed back against a stone wall, breathing heavily from running and laughing.

“My hat.” When it flew off his head they both almost laughed hard enough to double over. “Now I have hat hair.” Tears squeezed out of the corners of his eyes from laughter. Lecia reached over and ruffled his hair roughly. Aaron was too busy trying to catch his breath to swat her hand away.
