Captain von Trapp served in WW1, he must have met scores of people like Rolf, boys who thought they were men, boys who thought they were ready to take a life. When he tells Rolf "you're only a boy" he's speaking from experience and when he says "you'll never be one of them" he's remembering those past Rolfs too in this essay I will

HEY LODESSA!!!!
this is starlove490 but I'm using my main blog instead lmao. I got ur message and no worries about the mix ups, I didn't mean for the prompt to come from the movie "The Ending of the Affair" cause lol I've never seen that film before but I can see where the confusion came from. I was mainly emphasising the reference song when I submitted the prompt, but I know angst is kinda hard to get into for Hellcheer cause they're such a happy couple from the onset. It is DEFINITELY a lot easier to write fluff for them, angst kinda rips my heart out (even tho i crave it 😂) and it takes a bunch of buildup half the time and real life obligations don't help. That being said I really enjoyed your take on the prompt, Jase is adorable, and I thought the smut was super sweet and Eddie certainly has a way with words 🥵 I hope your doing better and your not sick anymore! Thank you for the gift!!! ❤️🥹
Hi there! Thank you for being so gracious about everything, and good to know I wasn't as wrong as I thought about the prompt (I can tell you I really started spiraling imagining you had a very specific reference AU you were hoping for/expecting).
I really did mean for it to get angstier, but smut really won out on this one (okay, I have to be honest, smut often wins with me), and yeah real life did not put me in a position to fight that inclination as hard as I might otherwise.
I'm glad you enjoyed what I actually ended up writing. You are so right that I do find myself wanting to be gentler with these poor characters, given how rough the canon straws they drew were and how . . . well sweet they both are. I do really love the idea of Eddie getting to step up for a kid who is not his own, paralleling Wayne stepping up from him but also in his own way. I still think they have a hard road ahead of them, but I like to think they will keep choosing each other.
Thanks for the well wishes. I'm definitely on the mend at this point (yay for no more fever!) This thing just hit me extremely hard (which is what happens when you overextend and ignore that you have pushed past your limit for weeks/months on end and I should know better).
Thank you for the motivation, inspiration, excuse to try writing something I probably wouldn't have come up with on my own (which is where I feel like the best creativity comes from).

(1) Tbh I'm still reserving judgment on the whole Queenie thing until the next movie comes out and things are explained a bit more. I'm still suspicious about what was put in Queenie's tea (she does such a quick about-turn, just wondering if maybe it emphasised her legilimense skills and made her more susceptible to suggestion). Could be entirely wrong of course, but it seems to me something has to be influencing her or blocking her or she'd see that Grindelwald is lying.
(2) I'm also glad that someone is with Credence and he's not alone there. Maybe they'll snap each other out of it? There's obviously going to be a move to bring Queenie and Credence back, or at least there had better be or I will be 100% on board with the angry train. I guess I kind of just like the parallel drawn between the two of them, who are both considered powerful and dangerous in different ways.
You know...I wish I could be with you on this one, anon, but I’m just. Not. I mean yes, I think something was in Queenie’s tea. It was foreshadowed with her drugging Jacob.
But that turn started before the movie’s opening credits. Was the Queenie from the first film the same Queenie who would pull that stunt? Maybe, it’s possible--but it requires a hell of a lot of development that we never saw and has yet to be acknowledged by creators. It’s not Text. It doesn’t count.
Parallels between Q and C are my JAM. I love them. But...not like this. It felt cheap and contrived, rather than well-planned and shocking. Even if they snap each other out of it, I still...doubt, somehow, that it will be through good and well-developed means.
I dunno.
This fandom is kinda killing me right now.
