A number of Derby County fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the news that Scott Carson has officially joined Premier League champions Manchester City on a season-long loan deal (Rams website).
The deal for the 33-year-old was announced by both clubs as the transfer window shut at 5pm on deadline day after speculation had been doing the rounds online since Wednesday night.
Carson made 30 Championship appearances for Derby last season, and 33 in all competitions (Transfermarkt) but eventually lost his first-team place to Kelle Roos, who saw out the campaign and featured in the playoff games.
He has made 171 appearances in all competitions for the Rams since signing from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2015, and counts Leeds United, Liverpool and West Bromwich Albion as former employers, as well as having played for England.
The deal seems similar to those done by Chelsea and Manchester United when they signed Rob Green and Lee Grant respectively, taking on experienced goalkeepers as reliable third-choice options and who can also assist in training and in post-match analysis while accepting the fact they may not get much game time.
Here is what some Derby fans said on social media regarding the deal, and by the sounds of it, it seems as if Man City have a great individual at their service:
Gutted to see him leave

In an interview with BBC Sport back in March, Green said of his role as third-choice at Stamford Bridge: "The thing they don't want is having to worry about the mental state of some guy who is not going to be playing and wonder whether he is going to throw his toys out of the pram.
"I go to all of the meetings, do all of the pre-match, do the warm-up and help in every way you can, whether it is collecting balls, saving shots or crossing balls in... You see things that people in the dugout and players on the pitch can't see. I have been around football a long time and know a lot about it so if I have an opinion and don't voice it then it is a bit of a waste. I may as well give an opinion while I am here."
