In This Age of Hard Trying, Nonchalance Is Good, and by Marianne Moore
“really, it is not the ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍business of the gods to bake clay pots.” They did not ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍do it in this instance. A few ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍revolved upon the axes of their worth ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍as if excessive popularity might be a pot;
they did not venture the ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍profession of humility. The polished wedge ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍that might have split the firmament ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍was dumb. At last it threw itself away ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍and falling down, conferred on some poor fool, a privilege.
“Taller by the length of ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍a conversation of five hundred years than all ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍the others,” there was one, whose tales ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍of what could never have been actual— ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍were better than the haggish, uncompanionable drawl
of certitude; his by- ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍play was more terrible in its effectiveness ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍than the fiercest frontal attack. ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍The staff, the bag, the feigned inconsequence ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍of manner, best bespeak that weapon, self-protectiveness.

Man I’ve just been struck in the face by the memory of being a teenager reading a book on JW Godward (the last of the neo-classicist painters) which confidently asserted that his habit of painting his subjects nude and then adding their clothes was because he had a complicated relationship with religion and his own sexuality and...looking back that may be the case, because symbolism and practical consideration must coexist in artistic praxis, but that’s also just how you paint gauzy fabrics. You do the stuff that shows through the transparent bits first.

@die-rosastrasse replied to your post “how do you collect all the things you use in your bujo?”
Thank you so much for recommending me! I also hate to see etsy flooded with aliexpress stuff, ony more expensive It really kills the idea behind this website, makes it harder for small businesses and it's very difficult to search anything there. I can promise everything I make is handmade/vintage and I try to be fairly ecological and give proper credit to artists who's works I'm using. Also love your tips about collecting stationery!
i couldn’t have said it better myself! handmade stationery and such add-ons can give so much charm to bujo spreads. the pre-raphaelite sticker sets were featured in many of my posts already, as seen here, here, here, here and here :’) i themed my february spreads after jw waterhouse, april/may after mucha and june after jw godward. i love your shop a lot, and for anyone looking for vintage aesthetic aesthetic supplies i recommend them to check it out!
