Have a great rest of your week.-The Happy Cuban 😊🇨🇺 Please like and follow @thehappycuban Earlier today Officer Bastidas assisted a resident in removing a highly venomous Cottonmouth snake which had attacked her dog (who was luckily unharmed). Cottonmouths, also known as Water Moccasins, are native to South Florida. They are generally a dark shade of brown or a dull black, and they are known to hide in darkened areas (such as underneath heavy foliage or patio/lawn items). April through October is snake bite season 🐍. Be aware that snakes are more active at night and early morning. Please use caution when walking in or near tall grass, and keep your hands and feet out of areas that you can’t see. If you are moving objects outdoors, check that nothing is concealed underneath before you proceed. PARENTS, make sure to educate your children on the dangers of snakes. Any snake found in the wild should be left alone, unless it is presenting a danger to the surrounding area. Wear closed shoes during peak hours (night time and early morning), and don’t walk barefoot when outdoors. If bitten, stay calm and call 911 immediately - try to get a good description of the snake and time of bite so that medical professionals can quickly administer the appropriate treatment.
