Wait. Hang on. Can I get an elaboration on Persona 5 betraying its own theme of freedom from restrictive societal roles? Not disagreeing, I just wanna hear more about this. (And yeah, IIRC Kanji and Naoto were handled pretty terribly. They did NOT have to backtrack so hard on them being queer after they became party members.)
ohh its been a bit since i've played p5, so i cant give as elaborate an explanation as i want, But. isnt it weird that in the very first dungeon, when Ann gains her persona, despite her whole deal of having to constantly deal with being sexualized by those around her, including being taken advantage of by one of her teachers, her costume is a very revealing skintight latex catgirl suit? isnt it weird that the Phantom Thieves, symbols of freedom from the oppressive systems that make up their lives, literally work with cops at some points to get things done?
isnt weird that their efforts ultimately make no societal change and all they do is beat up whatever bad guys are around them with no effort to get to the bottom of why things are the way they are. just pinning all the blame on one guy to beat up instead of the series of guys that have helped to reinforce this society they detest. its a little weird is all
