Woke up at 3. Picked up the bf at 4:30. Was hiking by 7:20am.

We both agreed the hike was disastrous. Rain was horrible. Fog was terrible. Wind was atrocious. Even with the ponchos we were soaked to the bone! We loved the time spent together, but we both had our moments of intense moodiness and struggles. For him it was not being able to deal with incline hiking (i have been doing the stairmaster for over a year so I wasn’t out of breath the entire 9 mile hike). He had to actually collapse once we got back to the halfway point.

Which gets me to another thing. We didn’t summit. There was zero visibility so we couldn’t see any trail markers. Got lost. Directions made no sense. Got spooked by all the mountain lion, coyote, and bear cub prints the last mile (on the trek up).

By mile 2 I was soaked to the bone. I was wearing 3 layers but the sleeves were soaked through almost instantly and I lost sensation in my hands by mile 4. Couldn’t move them or hold on to items, and actually was freaking out mile 6-9. I voiced that I was not in a good mood so he wouldn’t take my silence as being put off by him or anything. He understood.

Not to mention I kept getting attacked by ticks. I would freak out and flick them off as soon as I saw them (luckily before they could grab on and burrow). First time ever seeing those fuckers in real life.

Once we finally made it back the car we 1) blasted the heater, 2) shed all our wet layers, 3) dug into the chocolate bars and cookie butter I bought yesterday at Trader Joe’s. Then we hunted down a restroom that didn’t have shit all over the seat.

On the hour and a half car ride back we talked, discussed our hypothetical future (as a couple), I had a phonecall with my supervisor at my job (which I am officially done with this sunday) regarding employment at a neighboring restaurant. Other people in management have failed to follow through with filing the transfer paperwork, knowing full well that I leave this sunday. But this direct supervisor called to check with me and what I really wanted before he officially filed my paperwork to resign sunday (which would make rehire impossible for a while). I told him I really do want to work at the neighboring restaurant and he said he’s on it today. Phew! I’ve been stressing about not having lined up employment elsewhere yet.

Anyways, we got back to our city and I drove to his mechanic so he could pick up his car. We kissed and said our goodbyes. He’s catching up on sleep and I’m working on hw for the rest of the night.
