Jack Daniel’s Silver Select One Barrel Evaluate
Jack Daniel’s Silver Decide on has big alcohol degree however it is remarkably subtle. It balances amongst sweet and spices properly, being sophisticated but mellow. The many barrels are aged in a different area in JD’s warehouse. Jack Daniel’s Silver Decide on definitely caught me off-guard. To become truthful, I didn’t be expecting a great deal from it. Perfectly, for the record, it isn’t an excellent one particular. But an 80 position whiskey for me, which is usually a pleasant score. And currently being Jack Daniel’s, the score is great! Jack Daniel's Silver Select Single Barrel Tennessee Whiskey review by WhiskyRant!
Tumblr media
CRAZY HEART straight up from America
JD Silver Decide on is like Insane Coronary heart. It's the major character Poor Blake. Who at the conclusion of the working day, is really superior. And like region new music, it comes straight up from The usa.
Nose: Vanilla and cinnamon with citrus and hints of caramel. Nose is extremely delicate for just a 50% ABV.
Style: Thick palate with sweetness and trace of spices. Sugar and vanilla notes, coupled with some salt and wood.
End: Lasts extensive with a lot of spices kicking in. Sugar and fruits enhance the better part of this dram.
Stability: Clean dram from Jack Daniel’s! Who realized? Thick and attribute. For its higher energy, shockingly smooth.

Navigating the Hunt for Pappy Van Winkle For Sale
In the realm of rare and sought-after spirits, few names hold as much mystique as Pappy Van Winkle. This Kentucky bourbon, crafted by the Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery, has become the Holy Grail for whiskey enthusiasts and collectors alike. Its scarcity and exceptional quality have turned the search for pappy van winkle for sale into a quest that spans the globe.
The Pappy Van Winkle phenomenon began with a family legacy deeply rooted in the art of bourbon making. The Van Winkle family's commitment to producing exceptional spirits traces back to the 19th century, with Julian P. Van Winkle Sr. laying the foundation. However, it was his grandson, Julian Van Winkle III, who elevated the family name to legendary status with the creation of Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve.
The allure of Pappy Van Winkle lies not only in its rich history but also in its meticulously crafted flavor profile. Aged for an extended period, often beyond two decades, the bourbon exudes complexity, depth, and a smoothness that sets it apart from its peers. With a limited number of barrels produced each year, obtaining a bottle has become a test of patience and perseverance.
The scarcity of Pappy Van Winkle for sale can be attributed to various factors. The aging process alone requires a significant investment of time and resources. The Van Winkle distillery's commitment to quality over quantity means that only a select number of bottles make it to market each year. Furthermore, the hype surrounding Pappy Van Winkle has led to an unprecedented demand, creating a supply-and-demand dynamic that has made these bottles increasingly rare.
For enthusiasts eager to experience the magic of Pappy Van Winkle, the quest often begins with an online search. However, the digital landscape is rife with pitfalls, as counterfeit bottles and dubious sellers abound. To navigate this treacherous terrain, it's crucial to rely on reputable sources and established retailers with a track record of authenticity. Genuine Pappy Van Winkle for sale often comes from licensed liquor stores, reputable online marketplaces, or directly from the distillery.
For those with the means and inclination to explore the secondary market, Pappy Van Winkle auctions have become a popular avenue. However, buyers should exercise caution and conduct thorough research before participating. Verification of a bottle's authenticity, provenance, and the reputation of the auction platform are paramount to ensure a legitimate acquisition.
Despite the challenges, the pursuit of Pappy Van Winkle remains a testament to the passion and dedication of whiskey enthusiasts. The thrill of finding a bottle for sale, whether through traditional channels or the secondary market, adds to the allure of this liquid gold. The camaraderie among collectors who share tales of successful hunts or near misses further enhances the sense of community surrounding Pappy Van Winkle.
In conclusion, the journey to find Pappy Van Winkle for sale is a quest marked by scarcity, history, and a shared appreciation for exceptional bourbon. As the legend of Pappy Van Winkle continues to grow, so does the fascination with this elusive elixir. Whether you're a seasoned collector or a curious newcomer, the pursuit of Pappy Van Winkle is a venture into the heart of bourbon lore, where each bottle tells a story of craftsmanship, tradition, and the relentless pursuit of perfection.

It’s Always the Same
1200 words for 1200 followers #4
A/N: Hi friends! Welcome to the 12-A-Palooza! This event is my way of saying thank you for sticking with me. Your support and kindness toward me and my writing is out of this world and I’m grateful for every last one of you! This is one of two requests that I got for Jack, and they will be related... and I already have plans to continue it after all the 12-A-Palooza requests are done. So in addition to the Spectrum Soulmate Marcus Pike AU, the Jack Daniels Time Travel AU is now a thing. (And I’m not mad about it at all.) 💚
Warnings: mention of character death, mention of violence, this one is angsty and I am SORRY.
Requested by: @azure-waves Song: Back in Town Character Choice: Jack Daniels - Thank you for sending this in! I hope you enjoy this, darling! I know it’s a little angsty, but I have a plan so don’t worry too much!!

Jack Daniels was the best Agent within the Statesman organization.
Skilled, suave, brave, reliable, dedicated. Jack was everything the agency stood for, everything they valued. Because of that, he’d risen quickly in the ranks, becoming a Senior Agent after only eight years of service.
But there was one thing that set him apart from the rest of the Agents even more than those attributes - his willingness to partake in tests of new, experimental technology that could help the agency gain advantages. He had been the first to step forward when researchers brought Alpha-Gel to trial, fully aware and accepting of the risks involved.
Nothin’ much to lose if it goes sideways.
So when Champ and Ginger came to him with the proposition of a new trial, Jack had all but signed on before knowing a single detail.
“It’s not as dangerous as the Alpha-Gel testing was,” Ginger explained. “But it’s … delicate.”
“Well, darlin’, I can be as delicate as a daisy when the occasion calls for it. What’s the mission?”
He didn’t expect time travel.
They called it The Rewind, since for now Statesman only had the ability to move in one direction along the continuum - backwards, and only up to three years - and Ginger had been right to deem it delicate. Time was a fragile thing, and handling it too harshly left fingerprints where they didn’t belong. Those fingerprints could cause the present to cave in on itself and the future cease to exist.
Jack silently hoped that they never gained the ability to travel beyond the three year mark. He knew that if it became possible to go back to the moment that his wife was killed, no amount of moral obligation would keep him from trying to save her.
Future be fuckin’ damned.
The Rewind hadn’t been engineered so Agents could change things that had already happened, though. It was created strictly so the agency could gather intelligence. It allowed a person to go back to a specific time and place, to witness that moment again and again from different perspectives, drop eaves on a conversation until it had been memorized, hunt for clues in the near past that might give them an edge in the present so they could put a stop to things before they happened.
But it was still in the early stages. There was still a battery of experiments to run. That was where Jack came in.
“We’ll be sending you back three years, to the night of July 19th. There’s a place on the outskirts of town called the Junction. Or -” Ginger arched one eyebrow. “There was. It closed down six months ago. But before it did? A lot of shady characters used to meet there. We think it’s where Dark Shadow did most of its recruiting.”
Jack’s top lip curled at the mention of the crime organization. Dark Shadow had been a weapon smuggling ring that operated by overwhelming local law enforcement with a slew of small crimes so that they could pull off their larger ones while the authorities were distracted. They sold guns to drug dealers, who in turn put pistols in the hands of every sales soldier on the streets. They were the reason that countless hearts had been broken by the words “wrong place, wrong time” just as Jack’s had.
Taking them down had undoubtedly been his proudest moment as a Statesman.
Ginger explained that since they already knew how things shook out for Dark Shadow, testing the Rewind on their hideout meant that the stakes were low. “For now we just want you to go, spend a few hours there, act as though you’re just a patron getting a drink. You can talk to people as long as you don’t tell them anything that hasn’t happened for them yet. We’ll pull you back remotely when it's time, and then you’ll report on anything you can remember.”
Jack nodded. “Seems simple enough.”
“We’ll repeat this process until we’re confident that you’ve absorbed every detail of that night - what people were wearing, the texture of the bar top, all of it. That gives us an idea of how big a window we’ll have when we send Agents in for live missions. How long they’ll need in a space that size with the same number of variables and-”
“Ginger.” Champ cleared his throat as a gentle interruption. “Think he gets the idea. Don’t ya, Whiskey?”
“Sure. Like any old night on the town. ‘Cept it’s the same night every night until I can paint it pretty as a picture for you. That about it?”
Ginger gave a sheepish nod, aware that she was prone to over explanation at times. “Yup. That’s about it. For now.”
– – –
Jack stopped outside the Junction, staring at the flickering neon letters on the sign that hung in the window. Like always, the C was dead. This time, though, he noticed that it was due to a crack in the lightbox that looked distinctly like a bullet hole.
Well look at that. A new piece of the picture already.
With that he went inside. He wasted no time lingering near the dart boards or sauntering through the billiards tables as he’d done his first few July 19ths. He’d already gained what he could from the people gathered around them on previous trips. This time his focus was directly on the bar. Or more directly on the woman behind it.
You.
It was his twelfth time pulling up a stool and ordering a drink from you. Nine of those times he’d asked you your name and he’d given you his. You’d spent nearly half your shift ignoring other customers to talk with him on at least seven occasions. Five times he’d caught you looking at him in the bar mirror, a guilty - but not ashamed - grin curving your cheeks. There were four times when you had asked him if he wanted to get coffee at the diner on ninth street, three when he had said yes, and two when you’d invited him back to your place after that. The last time he walked into the Junction he ended up in your bed, with you panting his name into his ear.
He remembered every detail of every interaction with you.
But for you it was the first time you’d seen him. You didn’t know his name or his drink. Didn’t know that he made you laugh or that his hands had already mapped your body. “What’ll you have, Cowboy?”
He gave you the same smile he had the last few times - which meant that you couldn’t tell it was just a little sad. “Whiskey’n water, darlin’.”
Always the same.
He couldn’t help the twinge in his chest as you turned to make his drink. Jack wasn’t expecting the mission to be time travel. And he sure as shit wasn’t expecting to fall for a woman from a different timeline. But here he was. And there you were.
The Alpha-Gel trials had been painful. Knowing that you would forget him every time was torture.
Still, when you asked him out for coffee, he grinned, standing from his stool. “You ever been to the 9th Street Diner, darlin’?”

Justin Bieber
Justin Drew Bieber (/ˈbiːbər/ BEE-bər; born March 1, 1994)[1][2] is a Canadian singer. Regarded as a pop icon, he is recognized for his multi-genre musical performances.[3][4][5] Bieber was discovered by American record executive Scooter Braun and signed with RBMG Records in 2008, gaining recognition with the release of his debut seven-track EP My World (2009) and soon establishing himself as a teen idol.
Bieber achieved commercial success with his teen pop-driven debut studio album, My World 2.0 (2010), which debuted atop the US Billboard 200, making him the youngest solo male act to top the chart in 47 years.[6] The album spawned the internationally successful single "Baby" (featuring Ludacris), which became one of the best selling singles of all time in the US.[7] His second studio album, Under the Mistletoe (2011), became the first Christmas album by a male artist to debut at number one in the US.[8] Bieber experimented with dance-pop in his third studio album, Believe (2012), and went on to become the first artist in history with five US number-one albums by the age of 18.[9] From 2013–14, Bieber was involved in multiple controversies and legal issues, which had a drastic impact on his public image.[10]
In 2015, Bieber explored EDM with Jack Ü as a lead vocalist on "Where Are Ü Now", which won the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Recording.[11][12] The song's musical direction played an instrumental role in his fourth studio album, Purpose, which produced three US number-one singles: "Love Yourself", "Sorry", and "What Do You Mean?". He became the first artist in history to occupy the entire top three of the UK Singles Chart.[13] Bieber diversified on numerous collaborations between 2016 and 2017, including DJ Khaled's "I'm the One" and his remix to Luis Fonsi's "Despacito"—both reaching number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 a week apart, making him the first artist in history to chart new number-one songs in consecutive weeks.[14] "Despacito" was named the greatest Latin song of all time by Billboard and earned Bieber his career-first Latin Grammy Award. In 2019, he released a country collaboration with Dan + Shay, "10,000 Hours", which won the Grammy Award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance.[15]
In 2020, Bieber released his R&B-inspired fifth studio album, Changes, which debuted at number one in both the UK and US, and a standalone duet with Ariana Grande, "Stuck with U", which debuted atop the US Billboard Hot 100.[16] Bieber returned to his pop roots on his sixth studio album, Justice (2021). It spawned the worldwide hit "Peaches" (featuring Daniel Caesar and Giveon) and debuted atop the US Billboard 200, making him the youngest soloist to have eight US number-one albums, a record held previously by Elvis Presley since 1965.[17] The same year, Bieber released "Stay" (with the Kid Laroi), which became his eighth US number-one single.[18]
Bieber is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with estimated sales of over 150 million records worldwide. He is credited with four Diamond certifications from the RIAA.[19] He has received numerous accolades, including two Grammy Awards, one Latin Grammy Award, eight Juno Awards, two Brit Awards, one Bambi Award, 26 Billboard Music Awards, 18 American Music Awards, 22 MTV Europe Music Awards (the most wins for any artist), 23 Teen Choice Awards (the most wins for a male individual), and 33 Guinness World Records. Time named Bieber one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2011, and he was included on Forbes' list of the top ten most powerful celebrities in 2011, 2012, and 2013

Bourbon Vs. Whiskey: What’s The Difference?
Wheated bourbons have a mash bill with a excessive focus of wheat, which creates a good sweeter style. The style of whiskey varies relying on the type. Whiskey tends to have a woody or oaky flavor profile with notes of spice, fruit, nuts, vanilla or caramel. Though some of whiskey’s taste notes overlap with bourbon, whiskey tends to have a grainier, sharper mouthfeel than bourbon. Rye whiskey, which has a mash that incorporates at least 51 % rye, tends to have a spicier flavor profile than bourbon and some other whiskeys. Scotch is a whiskey that’s produced and bottled in Scotland (here it’s spelled whisky, with out the ‘e’). There are 5 types of Scotch, however two properly-identified kinds are single malts and blended whiskeys. Single malts are made by one distillery utilizing malted barley, aged for a minimum of three years in oak casks and bottled at no lower than eighty proof. Totally different regions of Scotland are identified for his or her single malt types, together with Islay Scotch (pronounced “ai-luh”), which owes its signature smoky, peaty taste to the strategy of drying the malt over a peat-fueled hearth. To learn more about malted barley and Scotch, check out What's Malt? Blended Scotch whiskeys can either be a mix of malt whiskeys, a blend of grain whiskeys, or a combination of the 2, which tends to be the most typical (as with Johnnie Walker, probably the most properly-recognized manufacturers). This specific mixture of substances and processes results in a easy and barely candy whiskey, with a little bit of spiciness relying on the brand you’re drinking. In Limestone Department Distillery’s case, our award-profitable Yellowstone Select Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a blend of 4- and seven-12 months-previous bourbons and comes in at ninety three proof. It offers notes of leathered cherries, smoked caramel, oak, and brown sugar. What Defines jack daniel's 12 year for sale ? So how does rye whiskey differ? Not like bourbon, rye whiskey may be made in any country, but, like bourbon, U.S. For a U.S. whiskey to be thought of rye whiskey, it should be made with not less than 51% rye, a wheat-like grass used to make some beers and vodkas. Otherwise, the ingredients checklist and distilling processes are almost identical to those used for bourbon. Rye is generally spicier than bourbon, with a distinct taste that, once you be taught to recognize it, you’ll always recognize it. As a substitute of clothes and headwear, we’d prefer the heat feeling of booze. However we don’t simply love bourbon, rye whiskey, single malt Scotch whisky, Irish whiskey, and whiskey from the remainder of the world; we also love to reward (and obtain) whiskey-related gifts. Bottles of lengthy-aged whiskey, mixers, coasters, and other unique gifts, we love them all. Whether you’re prepared for it or not, the holidays have arrived like a candy-cane-shaped, eggnog-fueled train riding on a gingerbread track. This implies there can be events, get-togethers, presents, and more heavy, indulgent meals than anyone could be prepared for. Luckily, beer is right here to save the holidays. There are countless Christmas and holiday-themed beers on the market and each is perfectly suited to be paired with the 800th viewing of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" or a night spent frosting sugar cookies formed like Christmas bushes. Keep scrolling to see some of our favorites. That mentioned, there are some connoisseurs that say just a few drops of water in a whiskey neat is acceptable. This enhances the compounds that make up the aroma in a glass of whiskey. That’s what is a whiskey neat! However, there’s numerous ways in which one can have a glass of their favourite expression. Proceed studying to know them all! What's a Whiskey Neat… With regards to you, sip it slowly and respect the nuance of flavors. Never slam it in one gulp and don't deal with a whiskey neat as a shot, although it’s the identical amount. But, there are some individuals who discover whiskey’s flavor to be one thing akin to a punch in the face. So, it’s completely normal for folks to want so as to add just a little water or ice to their whiskey neat. However, resist the urge so as to add ice immediately. Always take the first sip to savor the tingling, burning sensation in your palette.

EPL Transfer Deadline Day Spectacular (Refresh For Updates!)
-K.A.
Woo! It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these, but since we last spoke and touched upon the wonderful world of transfers...
-takes a deep breath-
Arsenal:
Brought in Dani Ceballos on loan from Real Madrid to shore up their midfield, in hopes of getting classification to the Champions League.
Flirted with Wilfred Zaha and then ultimately ended up signing Nicholas Pepe for the same money,  ~£80 million with incentives, essentially acting like the girl at the bar who dances with you all night then goes home with another guy.
-Signed  Kiernan Tierney from Celtic from £25 milliom to fill their gap at Centreback. Also, they’ve somehow convinced David Luiz to leave Chelsea for £8 million, which is a steal. They’ve also let go of Koscileny to Bordeaux in Ligue 1 in France and signed William Saliba, another Centreback from St. Etienne also in Ligue 1 and sent him back on loan to the French club for a year for more seasoning.
-Let Aaron Ramsey go on a free transfer to Juventus, who sign players on free transfers like its their birthright.
Flirted with Phillipe Coutinho and then saw that deal fall through, because of course.
Have sold Alex Iwobi for ~ £40 million to Everton in the most awesome and desperate panic buy of the season. Great move there by Arsenal.
Chelsea:
Finally signed Mateo Kovacic permanently from Real Madrid to shore up their midfield.
Have brought in our lord and savior, Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund to be the American Wunderkind we all know he is capable of being.
Found the reanimated corpse of Ross Barkley and have made him look like prime Frank Lampard.
Sold Eden Hazard in a move that made that portion of London cry.
Sold Alvaro Morata to Atletico Madrid for a bag of balls.
Loaned Danny Drinkwater to Burnley on a season-long loan only a coupe of years after paying £35 million for him. Regretting that now, aren’t we?
Crystal Palace:
Flirted with everyone regarding Wilifred Zaha, overpriced him as if he were Lionel Messi then watched all the big clubs shrug their shoulders and go elsewhere to buy someone just as good, if not slightly less talented. Arsenal and Everton both inquired about the Ivory Coast star and Crystal Palace got greedy. Now Zaha is refusing to train with Crystal Palace. Good way of fucking up morale, that.
Everton:
Signed Moise Kean from Juvenuts, bringing in a super-talented Striker to lessen the burn of not getting Zaha. Arguably better than Zaha and more fit for their squad. Will pair beautifully with Richarlison. Watch this team flourish this year. Calling it now.
Tried to work in and sneak in a deal for Franck Kessie from AC Milan in Serie A, but the deal fell through.
Panicked after not getting Zaha or Kessie and bought an overrated Alex Iwobi from Arsenal for a ridiculous  £40 million valuation. Are you kidding me?
Liverpool:
Have done absolutely nothing all transfer window to either the betterment or detriment of their team.
Manchester City:
-Signed Rodri from Atletico Madrid for an absurd amount of money to be the eventual replacement for Fernandinho, a Defensive Midfield ace that everyone wanted, sure to shore up the link play leading up to the attack and clean up the messes before the likes of Zinchenko, Otamendi, Stones, Walker and others have to deal with it. Great signing.
Swapped Danilo for Joao Cancelo from Juventus because...well, they were bored and it seemed like good business? This was a cash dump.
Bid farewell to longtime captain Vincent Kompany as he left to Anderlecht in the Belgian League to be a player-coach.
Have flirted for the better parts of three months with Bayern Munich over the sale of Leroy Sane only to see Sane butcher his knee and tears his ACL in a glorified friendly, blowing up the potential move and putting Sane on the shelf for 6-12 months.
Manchester United:
Ho boy. Signed Harry Maguire and made him the most expensive defender ever for a sum of £80 million, much of which probably isn’t deserved. Signed Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace to shore up Right Back in a great bit of business. Signed Daniel James to play Right Wing, hoping that he’s more than just pace and a hopeful nostalgia-bit in which Manchester United is hoping to duplicate the magic of Ryan Giggs.
Have sold Romelo Lukaku to Inter Milan of Serie A after Lukaku refused to train with the first team in search of a big money move.
Flirted with and failed to bring in Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon.
Flirted with Paulo Dybala, made flirty faces at each other, slid into each others DMs, then Dybala told Manchester United he was a call girl and likes to get paid before they get in bed together. Manchester United balked and Dybala went back to Juventus where he will inevitable be stifled once again under Cristiano Ronaldo. Great life for Dybala, let me tell you.
Tottenham:
Sold Kiernan Trippier, got rid of Champions League legend Fernando Llorente, and said goodbye to worthless piece of crap, Vincent Janssen.
-Signed Tanguy Ndombele in the move of the transfer window, bringing him from Lyon in Ligue 1 to the London giants, placing Ndombele right in the middle of the park as a defensive midfielder, a position Spurs were sorely lacking in and needed to reinforce since the departure of Moussa Dembele.
Signed Jack Clarke, a young starlet in a good bit of business from Leeds before loaning him back out to Leeds in an act of good faith.
Signed Giovanni Lo Celso from Real Betis to boss the middle of the park next to Ndombele for a fee of £65 million.
Have seen Christian Eriksen flirt with everyone and their mother and then watch Eriksen get told in no uncertain terms that he simply isn’t good enough for the likes of the bigger teams in the continent. Great news for Tottenham, soul crushing for Eriksen.
Also flirted with Dyabla, also got the Girlfriend Experience from the Argentine before he demanded a Brinks truck full of money and Daniel Levy told him to kick rocks. Seemingly the deal was all but agreed and finalized before he decided to demand a sensational amount of money.
Signed Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham. A dominant and young British defender, he will definitely fill the wingback position and push Danny Rose to the bench.
Tottenham is getting younger, adding skill and talent. I like it. Hell of a way to keep yourself at the top of the food chain. Ndombele, Lo Celso, Ndombele and Clarke is a hell of a transfer window.
Watford:
Signed Ismaila Sarr from Ligue 1 side, Stade Rennais for a club-record fee.
West Brom:
Hoping to get some goal-scoring punch, have secured the rights to Charlie Austin from Southampton on a 2-year deal with terms undisclosed.
Wolves:
Not done much, but were trying to work out a £26 million deal for the aforementioned Franck Kessie of Serie A giants, AC Milan, which fell through.

12 Things You Should Know About Great Lakes Brewing Company
Tumblr media
Great Lakes Brewing Company is nestled in the heart of Cleveland, just a few miles from Lake Erie. The craft brewery was started in 1986 by brothers Patrick and Daniel Conway, who knew little about beer but were determined to create a lasting business in Cleveland’s struggling Ohio City.
It worked: Great Lakes Brewing Co. was born, and with it, a new leaf was turned in Cleveland’s dying brewing industry. Today, Great Lakes is a beloved spot in the city. Its Ohio City location houses the company’s craft brewery production facility and an attached brewpub. The brewery aims to pour that love back into its city by pursuing community partnerships, sustainability efforts, and — of course — by making good beer.
Here are 12 things you should know about Great Lakes Brewing Co.
BREWERIES WERE DEAD IN CLEVELAND. THEN GREAT LAKES CAME ALONG.
When Great Lakes Brewing Co. opened in 1988, Ohio City breweries had virtually gone extinct. The city’s last remaining brewery shut down in 1984 as the industry fell victim to consolidation. Patrick and Daniel Conway were determined to make their concept work, though, and recruited a master brewer and engineer to help build the company.
The rest was history. Great Lakes’ business took off, bringing brewing back to the city. Now, Great Lakes still leads the charge in the Cleveland brewing business, and laid a path for several other microbreweries that have found success in the city, too.
ONE OF ITS BREWS SHOWS PROHIBITION WHO’S BOSS.
What’s in a name? For Great Lakes’ Eliot Ness Amber Lager, one of its year-round brews, there’s a famed Cleveland Prohibition officer behind it all. Back in the days when local haunts were patrolled with fervor to make sure no illicit alcoholic beverage sales occurred, Eliot Ness frequently stopped by one Cleveland tavern. Today, the space is home to Great Lakes’ Brewpub. If the irony of it all wasn’t enough for the Conway brothers to name the brew after Officer Ness, their mother also once worked for Ness as a stenographer. We’ll raise a glass of Eliot Ness Amber Lager to that.
GREAT LAKES HAS A HEISMAN.
When the Conway brothers began creating their first beers in the heart of Cleveland, they decided to name some of their brews as odes to the city they loved. Inspired by European brews, they brewed up a German style Dortmunder lager. When it came time to name the beer, they settled on “the Heisman,” a nod to Cleveland-born intercollegiate football star John Heisman. The beer was eventually renamed “Dortmunder Gold Lager.”
THEIR FIRST BEER IS FANS’ MOST LOVED.
The Dortmunder Gold Lager was the first brew dreamed up by the Conways and master brewer Thaine Johnson. It debuted when the brewery opened to the public and is still the most popular today. The Dortmunder Gold Lager is one of seven year-round brews sold by the company, and is available in the widest variety of formats of any of their beers. Dortmunder Gold Lager is available in a variety of bottles and cans (cans and bottles are sold in 12- and 16-ounce portions and 6-, 12-, and 15-packs) or on draft.
GOOD BEER AND SUSTAINABILITY GO HAND IN HAND.
Sustainability has been at the forefront of Great Lakes’ mission from their very first days. When setting up shop in Cleveland, the Conways bought all used restaurant equipment and renovated old buildings to create their space, rather than building or buying new. Ever since, they have worked to expand their sustainability efforts, from sourcing their brewpub food from local farms to minimizing water usage in the brewing process to repurposing every last drop of beer byproducts into soups, soap, and soil amendments, among other things.
GREAT LAKES’ ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP EXTENDS TO THE CITY THEY LOVE.
Great Lakes is involved in numerous efforts to improve Cleveland’s economic and sustainability efforts. One successful effort has been to support an urban farm. The Ohio City Farm, one of the largest contiguous urban farms in the U.S., is supported by four organizations, including Great Lakes. The six-acre farm provides food system education, helps boost the city’s food economy, and provides opportunities for underserved residents to grow and consume fresh, local food.
THEY’VE HOPPED ON THE HARD SELTZER BANDWAGON.
In September 2021, Great Lakes announced its creation of an Agave Twist Ranch Water Hard Seltzer, set to launch in Northern Ohio in October. The brewery’s first hard seltzer endeavor comes in the form of 12-ounce cans, each containing 100 calories and 4.5 percent alcohol by volume (ABV). Agave Twist is available in variety 12-packs and in four different flavors: Black Cherry, Lemon Lime, Blackberry, and Pineapple. Great Lakes also announced plans to expand the seltzer’s distribution outside Ohio in 2022.
THE BREWERY BUILDING HAS HISTORY IN ITS WALLS.
Great Lakes’ location is historic for several reasons. The building is constructed of three Victorian-era Cleveland buildings that were merged together to create a bigger space for the brewery. The bar is believed to be the oldest working one in the city. There’s also a story behind the apparent bullet holes in the walls. The holes are attributed to none other than Eliot Ness (although there’s some debate as to whether he ever carried a gun), the Prohibition officer Great Lakes has a beer named after.
EVERY YEAR, GREAT LAKES BRINGS THE LIQUID TO CLEVELAND’S BURNING RIVER FEST.
Since Cleveland’s Burning River Fest began in 2001, Great Lakes has provided the brews. The festival, which features live music, food, and drinks, exists to raise money for and awareness of Cleveland’s freshwater resources. Great Lakes’ involvement, again, demonstrates the brewery’s keen interest in sustainability and environmental stewardship. In fact, the brewery “tank farm” (the area where the brewery’s fermentation tanks are housed) hosted the first Fest before the annual event eventually set up a location on the Cleveland waterfront.
YOU CAN DRINK GREAT LAKES WITH YOUR PEANUTS AND CRACKER JACKS.
In 2019, Great Lakes announced a partnership with the Cleveland Indians Major League Baseball team as “the official craft beer of the Cleveland Indians.” Fans of baseball and beer can find an array of classic Great Lakes brews at Progressive Field, along with seasonal rotations and even brewpub pretzels. After a difficult 2021 season in light of Covid, the Cleveland Indians’ Christmas Ale in July at the Ballpark game featured Great Lakes’ beloved Christmas Ale on tap in the stadium.
EMPLOYEES GET A SHARE.
In 2018, as part of Great Lakes Brewing Co.’s 30th anniversary celebration, owners Pat and Dan Conway revealed an employee stock ownership plan. The plan offers every employee — regardless of title, wages, or tenure — the opportunity to have employee-ownership and be a shareholder of the company. As to how they shared the news with employees? With a commemorative beer, of course. The Extra Special Opportunity Pils lager was served up to Great Lakes’ over 250 employees in honor of the announcement.
THE GREAT LAKES CALENDAR IS AN ORGANIZED BEER-LOVER’S DREAM.
Move over, advent calendars: Fans won’t miss a single brew with Great Lakes Brewings’ annual beer release calendar in hand. Every year, the brewery releases must-know information about the beer names it will be serving up, how long its seasonal brews will be on the market, and what new packaging or new products consumers should have their eyes on. It’s all compacted down into a handy, colorful, one-pager. Eager to see it for yourself? You can find the 2021 lineup here.

How Man City's move for Kane crumbled

How Man City's move for Kane crumbled
The Tottenham star had been City’s top target to replace Sergio Aguero throughout the summer, but has now admitted defeat in his bid to leave Spurs
The summer’s longest transfer saga has finally ended six days before the window shuts, but not in the way Manchester City hoped it would.
The Premier League champions wanted Harry Kane and the Tottenham striker wanted City. But after close to four months of speculation, the England captain has finally accepted it will not be happening.  “I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100 per cent focused on helping the team achieve success,” he tweeted at around lunchtime on Wednesday. For Kane the future is simple: get back to scoring goals to win back the love of Spurs’ supporters, who felt let down by his desperation to leave the club he joined as an 11-year-old.
But for City, the next step is less certain after missing out on a player that had remained their number one target throughout the summer.
Replacing Sergio Aguero was always the priority after the club’s record goalscorer left on a free transfer for Barcelona in June after missing much of the 2020-21 season with injury.
City survived without Aguero for much of the campaign, winning the Premier League and reaching the Champions League final, but while Pep Guardiola has said they can cope without a recognised target man, he was expecting a top quality striker to arrive this summer.
Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland was a potential target, but the Bundesliga club insisted he was not for sale early on, and City still would have had to try and overcome their awkward relations with Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola to get a deal over the line regardless.
Guardiola, meanwhile, was convinced in the quality of Kane, but getting him out of Tottenham was always going to be difficult, particularly given the task of taking on a notoriously tough negotiator in Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.
The impact of the coronavirus pandemic on football’s finances has made for an uncertain transfer market, but prices have steadily increased as the deadline has drawn closer.
City ended up paying a British transfer-record fee of £100 million ($139m) for Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish, and Kane was always going to cost more than his England team-mate.
For Kane’s part, he did everything he could to make it clear that he wanted out.
An interview where he expressed his desire to join a club that matched his ambition back in May was the fuel, while confusion over a late return to pre-season training and the revelation of a gentleman’s agreement that he could leave this summer only stoked the flames.
Levy, however, was unmoved and, with three years remaining on his contract, Kane was forced to admit defeat over his dream move.
City too will move on, but they are short of time and options when it comes to getting a striker through the door before the transfer window closes on August 31.
Lionel Messi became available after Barcelona’s failure to finance a new contract for their superstar captain, but the Argentine legend moved quickly to Paris Saint-Germain for free without City getting involved.
If Kylian Mbappe gets his way and goes onto leave the Ligue 1 giants, meanwhile, he looks destined for Real Madrid.
Romelu Lukaku was a possible alternative before Chelsea moved to the front of the queue to sign him from Inter, while Robert Lewandowski, who blossomed under Guardiola at Bayern Munich, is unlikely to leave the Allianz Arena despite rumours that he is keen to depart Bavaria in the near future.
In recent days, speculation has grown over a deal for Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo and, while it has not been completely ruled out by City, it would appear to be a long shot.
Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes is trying to find a club for Bernardo Silva, who wants out of the Etihad Stadium, and sources have told Goal that he has offered the five-time Ballon d’Or winner to City to try and get both Portugal internationals moving.
Ronaldo is understood to be privately keen on a transfer to City, despite in the past having stated he would never play for Manchester United’s cross-town rivals, while sources in Italy say has not openly asked to leave Juventus. Bianconeri boss Massimiliano Allegri even said that Ronaldo told him he was “staying at Juventus”.
There are plenty of reasons why Ronaldo would seem like a good alternative for City, not least because he has scored more than 30 goals in 11 of his last 12 seasons. But there are also downsides in signing a 36-year-old who is heading into the twilight years of his career.
His movement in pressing opponents and team ethic is not as good as Guardiola would want, while his wage demands could unbalance the dressing room.
Alternative options, though, are scant, and there are even fewer players at the club that can stop the Catalan coach from continuing with his current preferred false-nine system.
Brazil forward Gabriel Jesus has begun to look more effective as a winger, Ferran Torres is still learning the position after moving inside from a wide role, and highly-rated teenage striker Liam Delap cannot be put under too much pressure too early by being asked to provide goals on a regular basis despite his growing involvement with the first team.
Guardiola, therefore, was enigmatic when asked about the possibility of having the same squad for the remainder of the season after Saturday’s 5-0 victory over Norwich City.
“When we decide to not sign a contract for Aguero and people say what we’re going to do, I said many times, it will depend on the market, the options,” he said. “Maybe we will buy or maybe we will not.”
City sources insist they are happy with the squad, but Guardiola’s side will face an even bigger test this season in holding off Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United in the title race.
It seemed unfathomable that they would go into the season without a recognised striker. The only certainty now is that they will not have the man they wanted in Kane.

Whether Counting Cash or Cachet Its Time to Take Flavored Spirits Seriously
As someone who’d spent most of his adult life working behind the bar, Chris Moran knew exactly what he was getting into when he launched his chili-pepper-infused Ghost Tequila in 2016. “As a bartender, you’re taught that you should take quality spirits and craft something yourself,” he says. “I was biased against flavored spirits.”
On the other hand, Moran’s time behind the bar taught him the importance of consistency. He knew that if he could put a competitively priced, high-quality spicy tequila in front of bartenders, most would favor that over chopping up jalapeños and infusing their own, with mixed results the only guarantee. It didn’t harm matters that by the time he went to market, tequila was already trending, and had an established cocktail batting for it — who among us doesn’t love a spicy Marg?
Moran’s experience is the perfect example of how general biases against flavored spirits can cloud judgement of their true value. Despite what most discerning drinkers would like to believe, flavored spirits have shown remarkable staying power over the years, even if individual flavors themselves eventually become fads.
While the days of bubblegum or whipped cream vodka are (mercifully) behind us, volume sales of flavored spirits as a whole grew by double digits last year. Far from vodka leading that charge, flavored whiskey, tequila, and gin saw the largest gains. Looking forward, market analysts aren’t just predicting that this trend will continue, they forecast drinkers will also spend more per bottle on flavored liquors over the next five years. Put simply: If you aren’t already, it’s time to take flavored spirits seriously.
Volume and Value Sales
By all accounts, 2020 proved to be a bumper year for flavored spirits. According to IWSR data, volume sales of flavored gin grew 12 percent, flavored tequila volumes rose 26 percent, and flavored American whiskey volumes increased a whopping 79 percent. In each instance, growth of the subcategories significantly outperformed their non-flavored “traditional” alternatives.
Interestingly, that trend may have been driven by other types of alcohol. “Based on IWSR’s consumer research, flavor is the number one driver of choice in RTDs.” writes Brandy Rand, COO of the Americas at IWSR Drinks Market Analysis. “[A]nd given the range and pace of flavor innovation in this category, it’s natural that demand will cross-over into spirits,” Rand concludes.
While the majority of flavored spirits purchases in the U.S. are currently taking place at the “standard-and-below” price tier (less than $22.50 per 750-milliliter bottle), it’s the “premium-and-above” category ($22.50-plus) that IWSR predicts will grow most over the next five years. Meanwhile, in news that will no doubt delight Ghost Tequila’s Moran, agave-based flavored spirits are expected to enjoy the largest gains in that time. (Moran saw his own sales “almost double” last year.)
Of course, growth is more indicative of trends than overall success. But on the dollar sales front, flavored spirits have performed just as admirably in 2021.
Let’s dial into some individual brands: For the first 12 weeks of this year, Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey posted the second-highest total dollar sales, behind only Tito’s Vodka, according to off-premise Nielsen data. (For what it’s worth, Fireball also claimed second place for YoY dollar growth, behind Hennessy V.S.) During that same period, Crown Royal Peach outperformed Casamigos Blanco, while Screwball Peanut Butter Whiskey raked in more than Johnnie Walker Red.
For anyone who’s reading this and thinking: “Fireball Cinnamon and Screwball are just anomalies, and they aren’t real whiskey brands,” the top three names in American whiskey are all also firmly established in the flavor field. (Also, Sazerac — the same company that produces Pappy Van Winkle — owns Fireball.)
Jack Daniel’s offers Tennessee Honey and Tennessee Apple, alongside its own cinnamon-spin Tennessee Fire. Jim Beam has no fewer than seven flavored whiskeys, the most recent of which, Orange, hit the market this June. Evan Williams’ flavored collection also stretches seven deep.
“I love to talk about ‘pure’ whiskey innovation, but one of the areas that continues to be of interest to us is flavored whiskey,” Susan Wahl, vice president of American whiskeys at Evan Williams’ parent company, Heaven Hill, told me last fall. Wahl also lamented that the company had been “a little late to the game” in launching Evan Williams Apple (in April 2019). But by the time of our conversation, the flavor had already had a “big impact” on the flavored whiskey portion of Heaven Hill’s business, she said.
Craft and Premium Flavored Spirits Offerings
Armed with all this knowledge, it should surprise no one that whiskey now enjoys the largest share of flavored spirits sales. For second-placed vodka, flavored expressions account for roughly one of every five bottles of vodka sold, according to data from the Distilled Spirits Council.
Still, flavored whiskey and flavored vodka don’t seem very cool as subcategories, do they? Maybe not for some, but the 70-proof, Casamigos-conquering Crown Royal Peach has emerged as one of this year’s most coveted and collectible bottles. Some retailers even reported that they get more calls for it than Pappy Van Winkle or Blanton’s.
Craft distillers making high-quality fruited vodkas have deposited further cachet in the flavor bank — as have annual, limited-edition releases from renowned gin producers like Sipsmith. These flavored spirits may not move the financial needle in the same way that Fireball does, but they certainly make it harder for “real” drinkers to turn up their noses.
Of the several hundred bottles I’ve sampled this year as VinePair’s lead spirits reviewer, the Mango and Pineapple flavored mezcals I recently tried from Gracias a Dios certainly didn’t fall in the bottom half when it came to quality. In fact, I’d say they were pretty bloody tasty, and ideal for cocktail creation.
This brings us nicely back to Moran and Ghost Tequila. For another article I worked on earlier this year, I explored what — if anything — tequila producers could do to make the category a real contender for the throne as America’s most valuable spirit. I gave little thought to flavored expressions at the time, but if the analysts are correct, this was an oversight. And it certainly tracks with Moran’s more recent experiences.
“The problem now is that anytime you walk into a bar or liquor store to sell your product, they’re going to look at you with a new tequila and say, ‘I’ve got 120 other blancos, repos, and añejos already. What makes this one different?’” he says.
“That’s one of our main advantages. When I walk into a bar, I say: ‘This is Ghost Tequila, this is what it tastes like, and guess what the use is? The hottest thing you’re doing behind the bar,’” Moran continues, pun apparently unintentional. “It makes it a much easier sell and I don’t need space for a blanco, reposado, añejo, and maybe an extra añejo. It’s just one bottle, and it really fits both the consumer’s need and makes their life easier.’”
Are you ready to take flavored spirits seriously yet?
